Hi, well I was recommended by the site webmaster to start up a discussion on the forums here, which I don't mind. Been a Tamago-chi fan since the original Go-chis came out practically 10 years ago. Been that long? sugoi! (Wow!) When I heard Japanese schoolgirls were picking up the toy in Japan, I had to have one when they came out here. I have a green original 1st version Tamago-chi, 2 Digimon units (bought the 2nd off a friend who bought his because I bought one). Passed on Tamago-chi Angel (zannen deshi - I regret that). Today I have 2 Version 2s and 2 Version 3s. AND the latest - the blue LCD screen Uratama direct from Yodobashi Camera in Tokyo! I bought the first Version 2 Oct 2005 with a We B Toys coupon. Then when the Version 3s came out, it seemed like the hardest darn thing to find around here. I called 5 stores to be told production problems to product allocation as why they had none. Then friends and I went up to Toronto for the Anime North convention, and found a store at Market Village and Pacific Mall with 13 in stock!! A month later, one friend where I work found a Version 2 and GAVE it to me! I don't ask questions when I get one for free. Then finally, WE B Toys near me got more V.3s in and I got another one because having 2 is more fun. Heck, a friend's mom has 12!! She keeps getting the same characters. What the heck is Souvenir 32? How do you get it??? Another of my hobbies is translating Japanese, so I plan to translate the more relevant parts of the 31 page instruction novel for the Uratama. Note for the Entama Warehouse program - if the programmer has updated it for the Uratama, I'd love to test it out. As it is now, Trip login numbers don't generate working logout numbers, while regular logins always work. Many items are the same, some are not. The Uratama will NOT connect to US released Go-chis. Bandai, if / when they release a new version, THIS is the version they should translate and release but add a pause feature, and the ability to connect to V.2 and V.3 Go-chis - as well as accept and pass on items between all 3 versions - and still connect to Japanese units and offer Japanese text in the name part (at least!) And for closing, my pet peeve is when people don't say "Tamagotchi" correctly. While it's being romanized correctly from the Katakana as it is on the package, Ignore The 'T'. Bandai's people who made the commercial for the US apparently don't know jack about Japanese. Think of it as "Tamago-chi" - said with a long O - and you've got it right. How would a native Japanese speaker say it? That's the way YOU non-Japanese speaker are to say it. It's not a word in your native language, so your pronunciation rules DON'T apply!! tonikaku (anyway) have fun and I hope to get some translating done soon. I have the week off from work! Nice to get paid watching anime and do nothing. ^_^ |
