Kjolver's true background is unknown to most who meet her, as the story tends to change between individuals who ask. Whether it's to hide something deeper, or simply to mess with people for asking things she finds annoying, not many know the truth. What is known is that she is commonborn, and a Nord very oddly having a passion for magic, considering a majority of Nords have an aversion towards it. And nowadays, she usually can be found studying her chosen schools of magic. Challenging and bettering herself, furthering more and more into her slow climb to the top. To master her primary school of Restoration.
True Background:
Kjolver hails from a commoner household- and a rather big one at that. Though among her many siblings, despite being a middle child, she was always the runt somehow. Often forgotten. Devoid of attention. And at one point, was at the brink of death from a deadly illness at a young age.
One day, Kjolver had snuck out from her home at night while she was ill, angry at her family for barely trying to help her. She kept a large fur coat draped around her small frame, it being a tad bit too big for her considering it wasn't exactly hers. The small girl trudged through the snow, going in no direction in particular. She doesn't know where to go, but she does know that she wants away from home. She didn't care if she was going to die out in the cold. The brisk and freezing wind rushes against her face, causing her to squint and lift a hand to cover her eyes. Unable to see what was in front of her, Kjolver had tripped over her own feet, falling face first into the snow. She found herself too weak to push herself up on her own, struggling as she lifts herself up a little and lets forth a rough and gasping cough. The child lies there in the snow, curling into a ball and nuzzling her face into the fur of her coat, trying to keep herself warm as the flurry of snow falls onto her. Slowly being buried... devoid of hope. Devoid of the will to continue. At such a young age, she was accepting her own oncoming death. Welcoming it with open arms, despite being so scared. The young girl's eyes stare upward at the snow falling down onto her face, watching the steam of her slow breaths. The only thing keeping her face warm now was the tears rolling down her blank face. She was convinced she had died now that there was a tall figure standing over her with a bright light hiding its face. Kjolver slowly closes her eyes, thinking she was now passing on...
...Her eyes open. It was warm. The wind was but a muffled whisper with the crackling sound of a hearthfire next to her. She tried to move, finding herself all comfortably wrapped in soft blankets... and inside a comfortable homestead. It wasn't familiar to her at all though. She looked around in bewilderment as she sits up, squirming to keep the blankets wrapped around her. Is this my afterlife? She wondered. Is this where I spend my eternity? Her thoughts continued. Until, the door creaks open, the cold wind rushing inside for a moment before the door closes again. It's the tall figure. A Breton in mage robes, a staff in hand. He smiled softly, greeting her, telling her he had found her out in the snow by herself... telling her he had mended her of her illness. The young Kjolver didn't know what to think at first, but she felt herself tearing up with joy.
Sadly... the Breton couldn't let her stay. He had lead her back to her village, where she was escorted straight back to her home.
It was like she never even left.
Years pass.
Kjolver mentioned several times, about wanting to pursue magic throughout the years.
It had only made things worse.
It wasn't until she had reached adulthood, that she had ran away again. Packing her things, slipping out from the window. Out from the obscure village. Out into the far reaches of Skyrim. And finding her way to the College of Winterhold with aspirations to become something greater.
...
Well, it kinda happened sooner than expected, and not in the way expected either!
