![]() "Να είναι καλύτερος άνθρωπος από τον πατέρα του" Zy Makar grew up at the foothills of the Valus Mountains, in the far east of the Nibenay Basin. In his youth, his father was often called away from home for his work, which had him be raised by his mother in his formative years. Whenever his father was home though, he would be trained in arts of swordsmanship, archery and every other weapon and defense that had been created by the Great Empire of Tamriel. He was a fast learner and a natural combatant. He only saw his father for weeks or months at a time before he would head off. In the interim, his mother would teach him his letters and manners, which he of course hated learning. Every time he would complain to his mother, she would scold him by telling him that he needed to be more than just a warrior, he needed to be a gentleman and scholar as well. When his father would return home again, Zy would complain about his mother's lessons, to which his father took him aside one day. Zy spoke to his father and said, "Why do I need these lessons, I can fight?". His father smiled and moved closer to his son. "I know you can fight, but it's our wits that make us men. Now go listen to your mother and remember what we always tell you, Να είναι καλύτερος άνθρωπος από τον πατέρα του." Seeing the serious look on his father's face hidden beneath the smile, from then on, Zy gave his all to learning everything his mother had to teach. His father would again have to leave home to serve, so Zy and his mother spent a great deal of time together delving into his studies and history. He soon learned that he was not some ordinary boy. His mother was, now of course he too was, the last living descendant of a great house that once ruled Tamriel and the Empire. There had been many great men and women who had helped the fate of this world, as well as some who nearly brought it to its knees. The House of Tharn had fallen and all that remained were they two. Realizing that this meant that he not only had noble blood in his veins, but even a claim on the Ruby Throne, Zy was astonished. It would seem after the atrocities of his ancestor "The Imperial Battlemage" Jagar Tharn, his family was thrown into ruin by Uriel VI and hunted. After centuries of fear and hatred of House Tharn had passed out of the minds of the people and the Empire. So many other threats had cropped up throughout the time that few now remembered the name of the once-great house. Though they were no longer hunted, the house still diminished until Zy was the last true heir. This all came as a great shock and revelation to the strong-willed young man, who now had his sights set higher than just a life in the countryside. It was then revealed to him by his mother that she too carried the gift of her ancestors, she was a trained magician. As Zy grew, he would now learn both magic and the sword from his parents. He also never neglected to study all the books that had been bequethed to his mother by her parents. It had never seemed strange to the young boy that his home was rather large, or that he had a vast library of books and even a stable and smith. He had always been alone with only his parents and the animals for company, so it had always just felt like home. Through his studies and growth, he learned that his father would not just leave for months on end for any sort of work, but that his father was now a Praefect in the Imperial Legion and was off fighting in battles. Again, a boy who knows not of the world would not realize his father was a warrior and defender of the Empire unless told. His parents had always been his heroes, even more-so than the ones he'd read of in his books, but after learning their true history his eyes were filled with stars. It seemed to him as if the sun and stars revolved around them. Still growing and learning, Zy now started to take an interest in many of the things he learned in books. His lust for knowledge grew without limits, willing him to learn alchemy(from his mother), math, science, literature, smithing(from his father), economics, etc. The list was ever-growing, as was he. Soon he would become a man. It was at that fateful time that his father had heard rumors cropping up near their home, whispers of a forgotten evil lurking the blighted lands. The ancient gates and their ruins were seething with activity and those in tune with nature and magic felt unease near them. He had reported this to the Ruby Throne and was sent out with a punitive force to find the truth of these rumors. Zy's mother also went out to help his father investigate, given that she is gifted in magic and might be able to sense something occurring. Zy was told to mind the home while his parents were gone, but as soon as she left their house, he grabbed his sword, bow, and horse and followed. The trip took a few days, but he masked himself from his mother and kept watch from a distance. She soon met up with his father and a hundred men, seemingly the punitive force that was dispatched from The Imperial City. Within the next day he followed them to the ruins of an ancient, gate and tower, black as pitch, which seemed to have come from Hell itself. He had read about such things in his studies, this was called an Oblivion Gate. It was a portal to the Plane of Oblivion where the Daedric Princes lived and tried to invade all of Tamriel in ages past. As the force poked around, Zy's mother seemed to have felt something and rushed over to speak to his father. His father called something out and the battalion drew their weapons and slowly headed into the tower. He waited for a few minutes and then heard shouting and saw lights come flaring from the windows of the tower. He ran with all he had toward the tower and up the stairs. As he was running he came across a slew of dead soldiers bodies. This being the first time he had seen such a sight, as well as the fact that there were dozens of dead, Zy's eyes filled with tears and his stomach turned causing him to wretch uncontrollably. After gathering himself, his worry now turned to dread as he raced further up and in. As he reached the summit, he came to a door that had been blown of its hinges and saw inside the great room a battle taking place. His mother, father, and a few men left were fighting what looked like 3 demons. He deduced they were the Daedra he had read about and was now in a total panic. Just as he was about to cry out, he saw his father swing his blade and cleave off the head of one of the creatures, while his mother threw a bolt of energy at another, weakening it enough for the men to pounce on top of it and stab at it. While the men were trying to pierce the creature, its body began to glow red and give off light. The next moment an explosion rocked the room and sent him flying. As he stood up he saw that the men on top of the Daedra had all been burned to a crisp and his father had been blown across the room. His mother still stood with her hands in front of her, defended by a magical shield, but now facing a closing enemy. Seeing his mother in trouble, Zy reacted on instinct by pulling his bow and drawing an arrow. He fired it right at the monster, lodging itself in its shoulder. The monster let out a cry and charged at him. Seeing all this happening at once, his mother and father were stunned to see their son here and were unable to move for a moment. As the monster drew near, Zy's knees started to knock as he took another shot that missed wildly. Before he could react, an armored body and shield placed itself in front of him. Then he felt hot as a warm liquid splashed across him and he felt a sharp pain in his chest. The creature had stabbed him. He down at his chest which was covered in blood, then back upward in front of him. There stood his father, shield drawn, sword through his body trying to protect his son. The pain came again as the sword was pulled from him, causing he and his father to slump to the ground. Holding his father in his arms, with the Daedra still standing over them, Zy's father turned to look upon his son and smiled. As the sword came down a cry erupted from the other side of the room and a massive blast of energy slammed into the behemoth. As it flew across the room, it turned and hurled its sword toward the attacker and slammed into the wall. Seeing all of this happen in the span of a few seconds, Zy looked back upon his father as the light left his eyes. What happened next was a blur, as he grabbed his father's sword, rushed at the downed Daedra, and ran it through over and over again. He then cut its head off as tears ran down his face. Snapping out of his rage, he remembered the sword being thrown and looked over to where his mother now lay. He rushed toward her, clutching her head in this hands. The sword had pierced straight through her heart and she was bleeding uncontrollably. He tried to pull it out, but she cried out when he touched it. He invoked the healing words and tried to stabilize her, but with the sword in, her it was to no avail. She looked up at him and smiled, mouth seeping blood. Her final words to him were simple, "I love you", and she was gone. There's no telling how much time passed as he sat there in that chamber. The cries from his soul must have most certainly stuck fear into all that heard. After he had cried all of his tears, his pain was now replaced with another passion. Hatred, revenge, rage, all these things welled up within him and began to fester. He lay his mother down, pulled the sword from her and began to hack to pieces the corpses of the fallen Daedra. Covered in blood and breathing heavily, Zy resigned himself to his new fate. He collected the dead, put them on their horses, and sent them toward the nearest town. The next act was to gather his father and mother and place them on a cart to carry them home. Before he headed off though, he stripped the Daedra of their weapons and armor and incinerated their bodies out of hatred. Placing the gear on the remaining horses, he solemnly headed home. When he returned, he cleaned his parents bodies, dressed them well, and buried them outside. Creating a grand tombstone for them, he stayed at their graves for 3 days with no food, or rest, or sleep. While he sat there, a plan came to his mind. He took his father's sword and the sword of the Daedra and melted them down to craft himself a brand new sword. This way he would always carry the memory with him. Now his mission would start. There was one person he could still blame for all of this, the fool who had sent his mother and father to their end. Over the next years, Zy would join the Imperial Legion and regain the territory that had been lost to his family over the generations. Soon, the whole of the Nibenay Basin and Valley were under his dominion. Now granted a peerage, knighthood, and even being raised to Earl, Zy had enough clout to exact his revenge. There were many who were unhappy with the current state of the Empire and thought Titus II was a weak fool. He heard whispers of a plot to assassinate the Emperor, to which he followed very closely. Realizing the dissent within the nobility, he quickly made friends with as many nobles as he could in order to suss out who he could use for support. He also revealed his noble origins, which most had forgotten the atrocities that had been committed, they welcomed him with open arms as a lost lineage of a better time in the Empire. Seeing the growing number of those who wished for new leadership, he knew that now was his time. He fed a plan in the direction of a man named Amaund Motierre to kill the Emperor, which he could use to his advantage. When it was later revealed that the Emperor Titus Mede II had been murdered, Zy dragged Amaund into the streets of the Imperial City and told the people that this was the man who ordered the assassination of the Emperor. He then cut out the man's tongue in front of the crowd and called to them, "I am Zy Makar, Earl of Nibenay and Legate of the Imperial Legion. By right and by order, I execute this man in the name of justice!" He decapitated the man to thunderous applause. Over the next few months, with no true succession to Titus II, Zy and his allies in the nobility managed to place him on the throne. When the coronation for him to ascend the Ruby Throne occurred, he looked up to the heavens and thought to himself, 'Mother, father, it is done; yet, it has only just begun.' Now the Emperor and hero of Cyrodiil, Zy Makar works to restore the greatness that it once held.
