"Talk about creepy. This whole place reminds me of the Underworld."

"Be careful, Pit. I sense an evil presence in this place."

The angel nodded, and he took out his bow just in case. When he'd entered it, the castle had looked wrecked and abandoned. Then again, those were the exact kinds of places that bad guys liked to hide out in. At the very least, he'd have much visited the other castle on the other side of the forest, which was pretty much this one's polar opposite, but Lady Palutena had convinced him to investigate this place due to her sensing evil.

A cold wind blowed through the empty corridors, the collapsed roof exposing the castle to the elements. Pit shivered. This was definitely a place bad guys would hid in, though he had to wonder why they always lived in these drafty stone towers, and not in warm, comfortable homes, with comfy beds... and lots of food... and maybe a hot spring or five...

Palutena seemed to notice that her captain had stopped to drool over his imagined paradise.

"Pit, focus!"

The flightless angel looked bashful. "Oh, uh, sorry, Lady Palutena."

Internally, he sighed. How come he barely ever go to go anywhere nice?

(This is before 'Flowing Through the Rays of the Morning Sun' for Kalas)

Before the angel captain was guided here by the goddess, there was another who found his way into the dark castle that once belonged to an evil fairy. He didn't know why, but he just...felt like looking here. He had a better chance in his search in a dark and evil castle than he did with the other bright and peaceful kingdom.

Unlike the other searching this castle for any possible evil, Kalas didn't really question the typical nature of this place. He did make a remark earlier that there should've been a sign that said 'WELCOME TO GENERIC EVIL CASTLE', but other than that, he just walked in in search of his missing friend. He already completely searched through those two worlds for her, but as usual, there was no sign of her. He couldn't even feel her presence thanks to their mindlink.

But the one-winged boy wasn't about to give up. He had a better chance searching this world out than just skimming the surface for her. Bringing his wings out, he flew down into the next room from one of the collapsed flooring, muttering out loud, "Where are you, Xelha...?"

He was unaware of the angel just close by.

"Boy, this place is creepy." David commented as he walked into the castle. He kept a grip on his book, having decided to land in this world first. He still felt nervous in places like these, despite the fact that he could defend himself now. "It's like a ghost could jump out at any moment."

"Or a demon." A voice in his mind spoke. David stopped walking and looked around. That voice sounded familiar, for it was that demon he had met before."I am in the book. I can speak to you telepathically but only you. For you wield the Goecia itself."

Walking through the door, David jumped as someone just flew into the room. "Oh please, dear lord. Don't do- Is that wing mechanical?" He stared at the person's mechanical wing, a blue haired young man wearing a unique outfit. "Oh, sorry. That was rude of me. And no offense but you look familiar."

"Did you hear that?"

"Yes, Pit. It sounds like voices."

Unfortunately, the echoey halls made the voices sound quite a bit more sinister than they probably were, so Pit held his bow at the ready, tip-toeing as quietly as possible into the next room. First, he only saw the human that was seemingly talking to the air above him, but upon looking up he saw the flying man with the... mechanical wing? Wait, that hair...

Pit immediately dropped his cautious demeanor, and waved to the other winged boy.

"Hey, I remember you from Smash Bros.! Marth, right? I haven't seen you since before my new game, girl!" He tilted his head, putting a hand to his chin. "I don't remember you having wings, though... did something weird happen in your games?"

"Um, Pit, I don't think that's Marth... or that Marth is a girl..."

Kalas raised an eyebrow as he saw the young man holding a book. He'd already met several world-hoppers, so this guy wasn't too different. At least it wasn't that annoying swordswoman. What was strange was when he stated that he looked familiar.

"Dunno why," he said with a shrug, still in the air. "I know I've never seen you before, dude."

And then came the appearance of the angel. Kalas blinked, having not seen another winged boy around before (not counting Dante's Devil Trigger). It was certainly a change of pace, and hopefully this meant he wouldn't have to do any carrying or favors that involved flying.

But then the angel started referring to him as 'Marth.' And called him a girl. The one-winged boy couldn't help but feel a twitch in his eye.

He landed on the floor, his wings dismissed, in order to address the issue here. "Okay, one: My name is Kalas. Not Marth. Two: Who the hell are you? Three: What do you mean by 'games'? And four: DO I LOOK LIKE A GIRL TO YOU?!"

"Sorry. It's just that you look exactly like this character in a game I played back home." David explained. Before he could ask for the man's name, another person appeared. A small boy with wings wearing a toga. He blinked as he saw this boy speaking to the blue hair man, calling him Marth and a girl. "Was he always this.... distracted?" Then the blue haired man understandably raised his voice at Pit. It was then that he remembered after hearing his name.

"Now I remember where I saw you before! You're Kalas." David replied. "I know you said your name but I know more than that. Although I only got as far after your betrayal in the magma caves." It was then he remembered one detail Kalas just mentioned. "What do you mean what Pit means by games? You don't know?"

Okay, now that he got a better look at him, this person clearly wasn't Marth, but really, how many people with blue hair could there be? Though he looked somewhat disappointed, Pit tried to get everything in order.

"One, sorry, I thought you were someone else. Two, my name is Pit! I'm captain of the goddess of light, Lady Palutena's, elite guard! Um, three, I guess you're one of those people that don't know we're from video games. There's another realm outside of ours where people play the games we're in. At least, that's how Lady Palutena explained it to me. Pretty cool, huh?"

He paused for a moment, seemingly satisfied with these answers.

"Oh, right! And four... um, a little bit... wait..."

His eyes grew watery. The poor angel looked downright heartbroken.

Despite Pit's apparent despair, there was one matter that brought Kalas to freeze in place. While his eye twitched when the angel said he looked somewhat like a girl, there was one detail that bothered him more. The sudden knowledge about him that the guy with the book gave, bringing up a memory that he really didn't want to go into, solidified that fact.

He had saved his world from destruction. He was going through these other worlds trying to find Xelha. He had already gone through two worlds with definitive heroes of their own, one annoying and one completely mute, along with other world-hoppers...and they were all part of a video game!? Just a mere piece of fiction that some random kids played?!

Needless to say, Kalas was not pleased to hear this.

"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN THIS WAS ALL A GAME!?"

His yelling probably brought some of the floorboards to crumble further.

"...You really didn't know?! I'm sorry. I'm sorry!" David frowned. "I also didn't mean to bring up such a painful part of your past. B-but d-d-don't worry. I don't know the full explanation but I come from the Realm of Reality. And the game that you came from was actually because someone saw you adventure in a dream. So you see, no one created you. Someone just saw your adventure and applied it into a game. And to be honest, your voice actually sounds better than in the game. Now I wish I had a pen and paper so I can get an autograph." He shook his head as he remembered something he forgot to do earlier. "Oh right. My name is David Almadel. A pleasure to meet you and again, sorry."

Pit was surprised by Kalas' apparent anger, enough to be shocked out of his momentary depression. Why was this guy so angry? Being part of a game was great!

"What's wrong wit that?" Pit asked, trying to remain chipper. "A bunch of people get to see how great your adventures are! ...Even though I've never heard of you. But I'm sure lots of people like your game! Besides, I don't think it works how you were saying, um..."

The multiversal theories were a bit beyond his intelligence, so he just pointed at David when he explained it better than he could. "Yeah, what he said!"

Kalas didn't say anything about his outburst, even as the two tried to reassure and explain to him what the deal was. Truthfully, with the things that have gone on in his life, it was hard to accept the fact that it was just a piece of fiction, even if it was some sort of 'dream.' His creation, the loss of his family, his betrayal, and the end of it all, when he almost lost Xelha...knowing that all of it was just part of a form of entertainment was just too hard for him to swallow.

However, the Divine Child didn't dwell on this for long. He just ran a hand through his hair and sighed, barely calming himself after the revelation. Maybe he could ask that David what else of his life was shown in the game, but at the moment, he just had to accept it and move on.

"...whatever. I can believe the Stars are really just other worlds; it's not like this is any different from what goes on in my life. It's not what I'm here for, anyway." Lowering his hand, he then pulled out the photo of Xelha, showing it to the two. Though he figured David already knew who she was, he still felt he had to know why he was here. "I'm trying to find this girl. If you've seen her, or if you can help me find her, that'd be great."

David nodded as he looked at the picture of Xelha that Kalas showed him. He figured that meant that she was out in the worlds too. "All right. If I see her, I'll let you know. I'll also let her know you're still looking for her. By the way, if you hear him talking to himself." He motioned at Pit. "He's actually talking to his goddess. She's real and only he can hear her. Let's also be careful in this room. Because unlike you two, I can't fly." David looked down at the floorboards nervously.

Pit examined the picture carefully, and could tell that Palutena had also memorized the image through his eyes. He shook his head, though.

"I haven't seen her before, but I'll look out for her!"

As to David's explanation, he looked surprised. "You guys can't hear Lady Palutena?"

People who aren't connected to the gods can't hear them like you can, Pit. Remember Magnus?"

He rubbed the back of his head sheepishly. "Oh yeah, I guess I'm just used to everyone being able to hear each other." He laughed nervously. "Guess I looked pretty crazy before, huh?"

"Thanks," Kalas said with a sigh as he put the picture away. Though he was still bitter after what he just found out, all that mattered to him was finding Xelha. "If you guys do find her...at least tell me if she's safe. That's all I need to know."

He listened to David's explanation on Pit and his goddess. It wasn't too hard for him to understand; it was like a Guardian Spirit of sorts. He just shrugged his shoulders. "Hey, some people thought I was hallucinating when I was still a Spiriter. It's not too different from what I know."

With that, he began to search the room, being careful on the worn-out floors. He might've had wings, but one still couldn't be too daring in a place like this. "By the way, you guys know what I'm here for, so what exactly are you guys doing here? It's not every day someone looks around a creepy castle without a reason."

"Well... While I have just started out, I am looking for something." David explained, looking a bit nervous. "I'm not exactly sure what I'm looking for, though. I just know it has to do with this book I'm carrying." He didn't tell them that he knew exactly what he was looking for. After all, how do you tell two strangers, one who is actually an angel that one is searching for demons to bind into a pact with.

"Why do you hesitate?' Ose's voice sounded in David's mind. "Simply ask if they have seen any demons around? Surely they would tell you what they know. After all, are not the winged ones demons like I am?"

"Of course not!" David replied mentally. "It's not like I can just ask people about it. And no, they're not demons. While would you ever think that?"

"Because angels are demons in a way? If you are not familiar with them, I could explain about some of them. There is Angel, Archangel, Power, Principali-" Ose began explaining but was cut off.

"Well, you're wrong. Angels aren't normally demons and- wait.... Those names." David blinked as a realization came to mind. "Those are SMT demons." However, he had said that last sentence out loud.

The angel gave Kalas a reassuring thumbs up. "No problem! We angels are always ready to help those in need! I don't know what a Spiriter is, but I guess it's similar to talking to a goddess."

He started to carefully creep around the room, taking note of any weaknesses in the floor.

"As an angel, it's my duty to seek out any evil and destroy it!" He said proudly to Kalas' question. "And this place looked like one of those creepy castles bad guys always hide out in, so Lady Palutena thought it'd be a good idea to look around." But then David's outburst caught his attention. "SMT? What's that?"

"If your goddess also lends you her power and gives you some helpful advice, then I'd say it's about the same," Kalas remarked. "Though I doubt she gives you any special attacks."

He almost had to roll his eyes at the angel's proud declaration to destroy evil. It wasn't that he doubted his intentions; it was more on the fact that he claimed it was his 'duty.' In all honesty, the one-winged boy felt that it meant he had no real choice in the matter. Sure, he was given life for the sole purpose of bringing Malpercio to rest, but if he wanted to, he could have thrown that role aside and stick to being the White Winged Darkness. He chose against following the brethren of darkness when he saw how wrong he was, he chose to follow in the role of a hero as he was born to do, and, with that purpose done, he chose to live his life as he saw fit.

It might have also been the fact that the statement also reminded him of Xelha's own sense of duty, even after giving up her crown. As much as he cared for her, he still couldn't understand why she did that.

As always, Kalas kept his personal views to himself; it wasn't really important anyway. To David's outburst, he just replied to Pit's confusion, "It's probably another of those games. Probably what he went into." Though still bugged by that fact, he kept casual enough that he appeared to be getting used to it-- "Whoa!"

His sudden shout had come from a piece of the crippling floor suddenly crumbling under his feet. Had he not brought out his wings to stop his fall, he would have stumbled into the darkness below. Instead, there was an alarmed shout from below, followed by the sound of rushing footsteps to see what the commotion was.

"...I swear, we all knew this was coming sooner or later."

David winced as he realized what he just blurted. Fortunately for him, Kalas inadvertently saved him by pointing out it could be a game and one he went to. While he actually hasn't visited any SMT worlds, he did play a lot of the games. "It's like Kalas said. It's a game series." Before he could explain further, the area where Kalas had stepped crumbled into pieces and fell down to the floor below. A commotion could be heard from the lower floor after an alarmed shout. "Agreed. In fact, this seems to be a given in these types of situation. By the way.... I don't have a weapon. I do know some magic. Mostly a healing spell and an AoE damage spell."

Pit was about to answer in an affirmative, but that was when the floor collapsed beneath Kalas. He did, however, finally take notice of his mechanical wing when he escaped from falling to the floor beneath them.

"Hey, did a goddess give you the Power of Flight too?"

Unfortunately, the question would go unanswered for now, as the ruckus caused enemies to swarm towards their loaction. They all came spilling through the door. They were all very short, and were so ugly Pit wasn't sure whether they were humans or some sort of monster, though the latter seemed likely. Fat ones wielded spears and spiked maces, while the skinny ones held in the back and prepared bows.

"A-ha!" Pit exclaimed. "Evildoers!"

"Called it." Palutena said.

Pit prepped an arrow of light in his bow, and aimed for one of the archers in the back. He wasn't sure if the others had any ranged attacks, but judging by what David had said (not that he knew what "AoE" meant), it didn't seem likely. That made it his job to defend them from the arrows with his own long-ranged attacks.

He let his arrow loose, and it hit its mark dead between the eyes, the archer disappearing in a puff of green flame.

He knocked several more arrows (even several at once!), and all hit their targets, which were disappeared as well. The angel realized this was a matter of quantity over quality, as these minions didn't seem very tough.

Kalas was about to answer, and possibly ask what he meant by 'Power of Flight' (though he guessed it wasn't that different from Wings of the Heart). However, with the enemies swarming to their location, he wouldn't have time. He just sighed, his sword and dagger appearing out of their Magnus and his wings flaring out for battle.

"I'll explain after we're done here."

That said, the Divine Child had to frown when he saw their assailants. The fat ones looked like some sort of demonic pig (or pow by Kalas' knowledge), while the archers seemed bird-like, judging by their beaks. All in all, they didn't look too different from what Kalas faced every day. And judging by how they just looked in shock as Pit took down some of them with his own bow, they didn't seem very smart.

He had a feeling that even David, despite his admittance to only have a few spells, could take them down.

Nonetheless, with the angel taking on the archers, Kalas took on the fat ones with maces and spears. One of them even tried to charge blindly at him, but didn't account for the hero just flying out of the way and ended up tripping over its balance. A spear-user tried to do the same, intent on ramming him through.

Kalas couldn't resist. "Nice spear."

The minion stopped, looking confused. Unfortunately, it just took the bait right there; Kalas just grabbed the spear and wrenched it out of its hands. "Don't mind if I try!" And with that, he drove the spear right through the enemy, which disappeared in green flames as well.

It was then that some of the remaining archers began to fire their arrows at him, trying to take him out of the air. As usual, Kalas easily dodged them, only grazed by a few. Nothing to really complain about. With that, he decided to make things a little bit easier for them (well, easier than it already was). A dark aura surrounded him, as well as encasing his sword.

"Fear the wings of darkness!" With a slash, dark ravens had flown out and swarmed the archers and even a few of the melee-attackers, distracting them as they clawed through them.

David watched as the pig men entered the room and tried to ambush the three. He didn't know whether to call them orcs or moblins or simply minions. An arrow clipping his left arm brought him back from his reverie and he noticed some of the pig men going after him. Grabbing the cross on his neck, he made a short prayer and casted his Oremus spell. A wave of force emanated from him, hitting the creatures for minor damage. Except they were obviously servants of the former master of the castle since the spell did a bit more damage to them than it usually does. David found himself a bit surprised at this and simply used his Oremus spell two more times before taking out some of the creatures.

The fight was going pretty well. Most of the monsters had already gone up in smoke (literally!) and left only about a quarter of the group that had stormed in. Even more luckily, the others seemed to be getting that the heroes were out of their league, and had already started to flee back from where they came.

Of course, Pit couldn't send them off without a proper farewell, and an arrow of light pierced one of the creatures' backsides as it retreated. Pit did a fistpump, as well as a victory pose.

"Evil monsters defeated!"

He looked hesitant again, though.

Kalas was less enthusiastic when the fight was over. He just sighed, putting his weapons away and dismissing his wings. "Sheesh, that was barely a challenge. Whoever they work for, their master seriously needs to hire better staff."

With that, he decided to answer the angel's question before they were attacked by the minions. "Anyway, I have no idea what you mean by 'Power of Flight', but about my wings...well, to put it short, they're called Wings of the Heart. Basically, they're supposed to project your soul...or something. I never really understood the whole thing myself. Just don't ask why I have one wing; it's a long story. My grandfather made this winglet for me" - he reached a hand back to his left shoulder, where the winglet was attached - "to help support me and all that. Again, it's a long story.

"About what you said about a 'goddess' granting it to me...well, yes and no. You see, my world used to take place in the Sky, and wings were pretty common. Don't ask me where they came from; I don't even have a clue. But when we returned to the Earth and...the Ocean returned..." He sighed, trying not to think about that time, "everyone's wings were gone. I guess since we didn't need them on the ground anymore. But Xelha and I, we got ours back from a god in our world," he left out that said god was a whale, "since we thought there was a problem going on. And that's pretty much how we ended up here."

He took a deep breath as he finished the explanation. "So there you have it. Dunno if it's the same for you, but yeah, you can say that a god gave me this power. Or gave it back to me, I guess."

David panted as soon as the battle was over. It was only his second battle and he was winded from the constant spell casting. Fortunately, there weren't any serious injuries which means he didn't have to use his healing spell. Still, David leaned against the wall to catch his breath. David waited until Kalas finished explaining to Pit about Wings of the Heart before he would answer the angel's question. "They work for an evil fairy. But she isn't here anymore. Pit's interest was obvious as Kalas explained his story, and he examined the mechanical wing carefully, though not going so far as to touch it. Wings of the Heart did sound pretty similar to the Power of Flight, except for the soul manifestation thing. It sounded more complicated, though. However, he looked horrified at the thought of people losing their wings.

"You all lost your flight?! That's terrible! I couldn't imagine not being able to fly, it's the best thing in the world!"

But he managed to calm himself down this time, instead wondering if he would be able to fly without Palutena's help if he got mechanical wings... but then again, it sounded like it could be pretty painful if he had to replace the ones he already had. And there was no way he was going to ask, because he'd have to explain that he couldn't fly on his own.

It was a good thing David was there to distract him, or else he would've been stuck considering this for hours.

"Maleficent, huh? Well, if she's not here, I guess there's no other bad guys to fight." He looked hopeful at no one in particular, but he knew Palutena could see him.

"Not so fast, Pit. I want to learn more about these people from other worlds. The drama is giving me a reason to eat all this popcorn I had saved up!"

Pit sighed. "I wish I had popcorn..."
