Even though Pit didn't lay a finger on his winglet, Kalas did have to give a warning glare while he examined it, just in case. Afterwards, he covered it back up with his cape. He couldn't help but roll his eyes at the angel's exaggerated reaction to everyone losing their wings. "Yeah, well, to be honest, they were starting to get weak anyway," he said. "Couldn't even fly for a long distance before people got tired of using them. Thankfully, our god gave me and Xelha a bit more power so we could use them for longer." He then looked to David as he explained who previously resided in this castle. While the fact that this 'Maleficent' was no longer around here explained the state of disarray of this place, there was one thing that bugged him about it. "If that's the case...why the hell are her minions still running around? I know they didn't look smart, but you'd think it'd be telling that she doesn't come back for god knows how long..." He waved as a spider almost came down on him, smacking it away. "And you'd think they'd clean up around here, too." |

"...About that. For sixteen years, they searched for a princess that lived in a neighboring kingdom. Only, they've been searching in cradles, not occurring to them that the princess would grow up." David explained. "I'm not exactly surprised she left them behind. Especially since Heartless are easier to control and easier to replicate. And are probably a lot smarter than those things we just defeated." He sighed as he kept a grip on his book. "Either way, let's move out of this creaky room, please."

"Wow. I mean, minions aren't usually created for their smarts, but even I could figure that out!" Pit said. "That's not exactly a compliment, Pit." "Uh... anyways," The angel quickly changed the subject, addressing Kalas now. "I've been in a lot of bad guys' castles, and for some reason they're never big on tidiness. You'd think they'd want to live more comfortably, I never got it." He krept down some more stairs, luckily more stable than the room before, but still not exactly inviting. "I wonder if she left some treasure behind, though... bad guys always have lotsa loot." |

"...." Kalas resisted the urge to burst out laughing. Seriously? They spent sixteen years looking for a baby? That just put a whole new level of stupidity. Hell, that was beyond stupidity, verging more into brainless territory. He kept that to himself, not really bothering to go more into this. He wanted to keep searching this place out if Xelha was around, though something was beginning to tell him that she wasn't or hadn't been here at all. If she had, she would have left noticeable marks fighting off these guys. "Replace 'big castles' with 'ruins infested with monsters' for me," he remarked to Pit, looking warily at the stairs as they made their way down. "Would like to get some loot out of this, though. Maybe a Magnus or two, if there are any in the other worlds." He was unaware that the items of his world also shared a name with someone the angel knew. |

"True. Castles like the one we're in tend to have a lot of loot." David commented. And also loot came in different varieties, besides the obvious like gold or jewels or the like. There could also be magic weapons, magic items and ancient tomes. The last sentence was what he was more focused on. A few campaigns in D&D back in the Realm of Reality made him wish to be in a situation like that. He followed the two down some stairs. "Well, what are we waiting for? Let's start the search once we get on more stable ground." |

Pit gave Kalas a strange look. "A Magnus? Why would we find Magnus here? And how do you even know Magnus, you're from a different world." "I think he might be talking about something else." However, Pit just kept heading down the stairs to the deeper parts of the castle. The room they entered was larger than the previous one, and on the ground floor, meaning there was on instability. However, it was simply a large stone room, circular in design, with nothing in it. Not even old furniture. "Aw man, this sucks! What kinda castle doesn't have treasure in it?" |

"I wasn't..." Kalas did have to pause at that. Did someone really name themselves 'Magnus'? There was seriously someone out there, in another world, named after the storage device in his world. He just had to give a comment to this. "Okay, whoever it was that invented Magnus in my world should've put a patent on it. I don't care if lawyers didn't exist a thousand years ago; that would've helped." That aside, the one-winged hero looked around the room they arrived in and frowned. Though it was definitely sturdier than the other rooms they've been in so far, it was obvious there was nothing in here. Really, how do these guys even make a living-- Something on the floor caught his eye, his thoughts trailing off. He knelt beside it and picked it up, frowning as he studied it. It was a feather, black like the darkest night. A crow or raven feather... |

"Well, that was anticlimactic." David commented at the empty room. "So much for there being loot. I'm not even a small gold coin or the like." He let out a sigh. But then he noticed Kalas picking up something. "What did you find?" His question was answered when he noticed a black feather in his hands. "...oh dear. I think that's the feather of Maleficent's pet. I don't know how old the feather is but it still looks fresh in my opinion. Then again, I could be wrong but I'd rather err on the side of caution if you two don't mind." |

Pit just scratched his head at Kalas' reaction. He didn't even know what a lawyer was, much less a patent. But he just shrugged it off and moved on, watching as the other hero picked up the feather. "That sure looks ominous." He looked up at David's explanation. "Pet? Is it..." He searched his mental bestiary. "A harpy? Or, or a giant crow? Oh, how about a triple headed vulture with razor-sharp teeth!" He flapped his wings and made hissing sounds to demonstrate as well as he could what that sort of creature would look like. |

Kalas just...deadpanned at Pit for the demonstration of the possibility of what kind of pet this witch had. Sure, they'd be pretty accurate, but from the looks of the feather, the angel was blowing things out of proportion as it was. It honestly made him wonder if things were like that where he was from. "...anyway," he said, standing back up, "if this was from some sort of monster, I think it would be bigger. This is definitely a raven feather. And if this is the hag's pet, she's probably got a more reliable ally than the henchmen around here. Kinda worries me if it's watching us now..." He left it at that, taking out a blank Magnus and placing the feather into it with a flash of light. He would have thrown it away, but it just didn't feel right to him. He did have to make a comment as he made his way towards the exit of the room, almost forgetting about the two nearby, "Ravens working for the bad guys...know wonder we get a bad reputation..." |

"Uh..... no comment." David replied. While he knew how Pit can be so... Pit, it was still surprising to see the levels his imagination could get to. Then he saw Kalas place the feather into an empty Magnus. He actually thought it was cool to see an actual Magnus in action personally. "Well, it doesn't help that Edgar Allan Poe wrote a book involving a raven back where I come from." He made a pose, hand extended outward. "And the raven said.... Nevermore!" |

"Are you sure that's a poem?" Pit asked. "That part didn't even rhyme." Regardless, the angel was curious about what Kalas meant. "You look a lot more like a person than a raven to me." He said, clearly not understanding what the other winged hero had meant. |

Kalas only had one thing to say when David recited a part of this poem, "Huh. Guess that's what goth-girl meant when she said something about 'quoting Poe'." Still, just before he could head into the next room, he heard Pit's next comment, clearly not understanding what he meant. Though he figured he wouldn't, the one-winged boy still had to consider if he wanted to explain or not. He didn't know these people well, but with finding out about his world being a game, it's not like it would matter. Though he also felt that David probably didn't know, since at that point, he hadn't been told what he really was. Unless it was already told earlier. Either way, he decided: why not. It's not like it's as important as it was before. It was better if they understood rather than going around making guesses. With that, he sighed, turning to the two as he began to explain. "Long story short, back where I'm from, 'Kalas' means 'raven' in a forgotten language. Emperor Geldoblame, if you remember him, kid," he looked to David on that note, "gave me that name because he thought I was some sick omen and that I was a failure." He then turned over to his shoulder, the one that had the one wing. "There's a reason that I only have one wing. To put a long story short, I'm the result of an experiment to bring life by other means. I won't give you the details as to why; that's all you really need to know." He paused to allow that to sink in. |

"A goth-girl? Must've been someone from where I came from." David commented. He was surprised that Kalas knew the word goth and what it meant, something he hadn't expected since he knew a lot of the setting where he came from. But not as much from the storyline itself except what he told him earlier. Still the revelation that he was an experiment was surprising to say the least. "Oh.... I'm sorry." He replied. "You do know you have nothing to apologize for, correct?" Ose spoke in his mind. "Nothing?! I told him earlier that his own life and world was fiction to me. Even though it still existed in the beginning, I hurt him by explaining everything to him." David sighed out loud but continued his mental conversation. "I'm still surprised he doesn't hate me for it." "He does not blame you. Such things were beyond your control. Now cease that caravan of thought you are conjuring up." Ose replied. "Anyway... We should keep looking around." David suggested. |

Pit didn't know what a 'goth' was (he thought he remembered it being the name of a group of humans from some eastern country, but that didn't sound like what Kalas meant), but he didn't exactly know a lot about poems either, never having learned to read and all. He did, for once, keep quiet as the other hero explained his backstory though, and found it somewhat compelling. Evidently Palutena did too, because he heard the crunching of popcorn and other snacks. "Wow..." He said. "I've never met an experiment before! That's so cool! That Geldoblabla guy sounds like one of those evil emperor types, too. You beat him up like the hero you are, right?" |

"Don't worry about it, man," Kalas first said to David. "It's not like it's important anymore. Created or not, I'm still the same as you." As for Pit, the angel's response to his backstory would've been the last thing he expected, if he didn't consider his outlook on things already. However, he did have to sigh as he went on to explain the next part, heading into the next area while he was at it. "Yeah...you could say that." He knew David would understand the full story on that, since he claimed to have played up to that point. "There's just one thing to that. In the end, he was just a pawn for the real masterminds. Don't think I need to explain who they are. Though it didn't stop him from showing up out of nowhere in the end..." He had to frown at that memory. "I still don't get how that happened. Though I guess it had to do with the corruption in the Lava Caves, or something..." Deciding not to go further into that, he frowned further as he took a good look at the area. It seemed they found themselves in a maze-like area. Great... "While we're trying to get out of here, I think you guys heard enough about my personal life story. How about you guys tell me yours, just to make it even? Besides what you already told me, I mean." |

"Oh, thanks." David sighed. So Kalas didn't hold it against him. It made him feel relieved. He listened to Kalas' explanation about Geldoblame closely, knowing a lot about it. And he knew what Kalas was talking about. After all, Melodia had been involved in the whole thing since the beginning. Still, that's all behind in the past now that they were here. As soon as they reached the maze like area, he shrugged at Kalas' question. "Not much to tell about me. I was born to two normal parents. I simply grew up like a normal child until I was involved in a.... vehicle accident at the age of 10. I had to be looked after for two months due to some injuries. Well, it affected me and it took years for me to recover from that emotionally. Thank fully, I met some people who helped me move on. I've even found a love for cooking as a result. I was recently preparing myself to go study the culinary arts when it happened. I found this book, made a pact and here I am." He explained. Edited by Ars_Goetia, Nov 13 2013, 07:49 PM.

Pit started his own story after everyone had finished theirs. "I'm Pit, captain of Lady Palutena's elite guard!" "Didn't you already tell them that?" "And I've only been on a few adventures, really. My first game was way back, twenty five years, but I finally got another one. I've fought all kinds of monsters, especially Medusa. I thought she was the villain of my newest adventure, but it turned out that Hades had revived her! So... I guess I know what it feels like to find out the bad guy you've been fighting the whole time isn't the final boss. But I beat him up, so it's all good! And then I came out here, because I didn't want to wait so long for another adventure." He scratched the back of his head. "I guess my story's pretty simple compared to yours." |

Kalas winced when David explained how he was in an accident when he was just a kid. "Sheesh...sorry about that man." Though he did nod when he said he had recovered, not bothering to ask about this 'pact' he made. "Good to know you've healed. And cooking, huh? Xelha would have a field day..." With that, the winged hero listened as Pit explained his own story. At first, he wanted to correct him on the 'final boss' deal for him, but decided to leave it. It was a bit of a surprise to hear he took on mythological beings; as his world looked up to the Stars, the stories behind them still existed. Still, as it was, compared to his own story, it really wasn't as complicated as he would've expected. He did have to make a comment on one thing, "Well, for someone who hasn't been around for 25 years, you don't seem to have fared that badly." With that out of the way, he turned back to the maze they wound up in, summoning his wings. He looked to Pit and asked, "Say, mind helping me get a bird's eye view to find a way through here? Might be easier if it's the two of us working at it." |

David stayed quiet. The story Pit was telling was one he was very familiar with. After all, he did play his game a few times back in the Realm of Reality. Still, once the story sharing was done, he shrugged. "It's fine. That's old history now. Although that explains why Pit is here." He nodded at Kalas' suggestion. "Good idea. I'll stay here and wait for you two to find the way out." He leaned against the wall and made himself comfortable. Hopefully it wouldn't take long, especially if Pit still had enough use of his power of flight. |

"Of course! An angel always helps out others!" Pit said, flexing is wings. Luckily, he didn't have to tell them about his flying deficiency, as Palutena activated the Power of Flight right away, sending the angel into the air with glowing wings. Hovering above the maze, he held a hand in front of his eyes, searching for an exit. He soon found one, and pointed it out to Kalas. "There's one over there!" Looking down at David, he realized that this wouldn't be as easy as he thought. "I guess we gotta lead him out of there." |

"Good to know those wings aren't just for show," Kalas stated as the two were airborne. As Pit pointed out the exit to him, the fellow winged hero nodded and began heading into that direction. Or he would, had the angel not pointed out that David would've had to be led out. It wasn't that Kalas forgot; it was more that he expected someone else to start giving out free rides. Unfortunately, it seemed he was still stuck being a human taxi. "Oh, sure, it's not like one of us could just carry him out, or anything." With an annoyed sigh, Kalas flew down to David and, without notice, threw him over his shoulders. "I better not hear any complaining, or I'm throwing you off in the middle of this maze." With that, he flew back over the maze, beginning to make his way out. Unfortunately, the sight of the two winged heroes did not go unnoticed. The henchmen that had been standing guard in the maze spotted them and loudly pointed them out. Archers began firing away at them, trying to stop them from reaching the exit. |

David waited for the two to return so they could all go through the maze. And soon enough, they did. Only for Kalas to carry him over the shoulder, surprising him. "No sir. You won't hear any complaining from me. I'll just keep my mouth shut and appreciate the lift. So-" He had to stop talking as he ducked under an arrow. "Guys, we're being sniped by arrows.. Pit laughed awkwardly. "Or we could do that, I guess..." Usually these things came with some sort of puzzle you had to solve. The angel hadn't been expecting them to just be able to carry out David, most likely because of some sort of invisible wall... or something. But then the guards started shooting at them, and he immediately leaped into action. Flying in front of Kalas and David, Pit charged up his Guardian Orbitars and activated them, shields appearing around him that stopped the arrows from reaching their targets. Then moving out of Kalas' path, the angel ducked and weaved around the arrows that were now trained on him, retaliating with his own and taking out a few of the archers. |

"No, really?" Kalas retorted while he had been avoiding the shots fired towards him. When Pit came in and protected them from some of the arrows, he said, "Hey, angel-boy, you're probably gonna have to keep them out of my way! Can't fight while I got my hands full here!" Of course, that just gave him a crazy idea. He seemed to have been getting a lot of those, since his visit to that tower... "Kid, I hope you're ready for a little excitement!" the winged boy called back to David, lining himself before a handful of guards. Though they trained their arrows on him, what Kalas did next was not what they expected at all. He gave a battle cry and charged in, tackling them down one by one in his path. Some tried to run away to no avail, while others simply jumped off the walls of the maze just to avoid him. Then, all at once, they were kicked right off. "Now that's what I call taking care of things at once!" Kalas said with a laugh, continuing on to the exit while avoiding the rest of the arrows trained on him. |
