(For myself, My Name Is Mr. Z, and one more, most likely StarMech.

This topic takes place after "Hold the Line" in Multiverse Expanse for Isaac, and after the upcoming "Treasury of Studies" in "Gregzilla's Assorted Writings" in Art and Writing for T.J. Brackin [if not after; Z can confirm].

Since this takes place entirely in the Underworld, we can assume that power levels are relatively low, including low magic potential for the living. [Whether or not T.J. counts there is up to Z.]

I'm going to be using the "No Mercy" arc of the "Thunderbolts" comic as an inspiration for this topic.)

Underworld Entrance

"Ugh, really? What the Here, Hothead?"

Isaac Zivaku looked around the area. The entrance to this location, the figurative light at the end of the tunnel? It was blocked off, a massive stone slab in the way. Just before it was the world's angriest guard dog(s), Cerberus, slobbering as his three heads snapped at a collection of souls, legless, transparent spirits that flew all around, too afraid to pass him.

Really, that wasn't the problem for him. None of this was his problem, not really.

His mark, the Japanese characters, glowed slightly on his arm.

Okay, so it was his problem. But he didn't particularly care about it. The real problem for him was something else. While he had managed to land, told to come here by his new partner in his business, the glow behind him was completely gone. If not for his wings, he would have landed right on his back, or even hurt his legs if he landed normally. There was no slow descent like with a save point. It was completely gone.

This was what he got for leaving his new eggs to grow, the things that would be able to form into what would become his planned firearm. Stupid, really. What was wrong with emigration?

Staying away from the monstrous hound, he looked at the various souls. Was that... it was! "Hey!" The demon called out to an old man's spirit, one he knew from somewhere nearby. "You owe me five bucks!"

"Forget that, I'm getting out of here!" The soul tried to slip between Cerberus' legs, but a short blast of dark fire stopped him, causing him to fly back in agony, out into the distance for the time being.

Isaac sighed. "Nobody has any sense of decency anymore." Wait... he knew where he'd found that guy.

The Valley of the Dead. One of the worst places around here, where one false step and you'd be stuck for good. Whatever was going on, the god here had lost control of what was essentially his super prison. Well, the one he could most easily access, given his brother's restraints on his abilities in his own domain.

Isaac palmed his face in exasperation, leaning against a wall as he looked at the many souls flying through the entrance toward the Cave of the Dead and those areas beyond it. He now knew what Death herself wanted him to deal with.

"You have got to be kidding me."

(Yes, this will be taking place after the upcoming "Treasury of Studies" short for T.J Brackin)

COLISEUM GATES

Stepping out of the massive doors that led into the Coliseum, T.J. is holding a wicker basket. Within it, there are scraps of bread, grease left over from pieces of cooked and spiced goat... and a complete fish. "Didn't think that they had concessions here... or that they allowed people to eat during the battles." T.J. picks off a piece of fish, looking at it, sniffing it, before shaking his head. "No. Just... no." Seeing a few birds, he shrugs and tosses the basket, the contents spilling out over the ground. "Enjoy." Part of him wondered why he hadn't come to this world earlier.

So, as T.J. looks up into the blue sky, he recollects what's been shaking. Fighting the undead in a world based around the Wild West, that was interesting... and painful. Then just after that he met back up with one of the people he met there, Greg Zivaku. Pretty laidback guy, considering he's an angel. Hearing that the guy's good with weapons, he figured: 'What the hey, let's get some work done.' So, he handed off his chains (which wasn't an easy thing for him to do) for upgrades/reworking and had ordered the creation of a crossblade, or Kreuzgriff, as a supplement. Let's just...

Immediately, he can feel the pulsing pressure behind his eyes. "Dammit, not again..." This wasn't a migraine. Hell, a migraine would have been preferable over this. No, this was a calling card by his... boss, meant to inform him he has work to do. And of course, where there's work, there's also pain. "Could you not just do that? I mean I don't even have my gear to do anything." The building pressure is enough to make the point clear. "Fine, fine. Message received, so knock off the pain, please." The pain subsiding, T.J. looks around.

"Now, what's..." Looking around, his eyes are barely able to catch sight of a wisp of something. Doubt it could be smoke... any flames were inside the coliseum, and the torches that were outside were doused and unlit. As he walked up to the wisp, it circled him a few times. "Okay, so definitely not smoke." So, it wasn't smoke, it exists in a version of Ancient Greece, and it has some rudimentary intelligence... Of course. It was one of the spirits that resided in the Underworld. "I take it you don't belong up here. And I don't have a way to carry you, so..." As he says this, the wisp enters T.J's mouth. In reflex, he hiccups. "...Never mind." Looking around, he expected to find the fissure that lead deep into the Underworld. Instead, there was nothing but a rock wall. Stepping back and standing underneath the pillar of the coliseum entrance, he can feel himself sink into the shadows, before vanishing from the exterior area altogether.

Traveling through the shadows is a rather unique experience, not unlike trying to find your way out of a maze that happened to be filled with purple gelatin. The way he would often find the right way out is through the sounds that would pierce the membrane between the regular world and (with no acknowledgement of any hint of irony) this shadow realm. Immediately, one such portal out emanates the sound of growling. Okay, the Grecian underworld, and the sound of a hound. Barring it being a heartless, I'd think I found Cerberus. Reaching out towards the portal of with the sound of canine growling, his hand emerges from the shadows. Another hand reaches out, and as T.J. pulls himself up and out of the shadows, he can't help but notice feeling... diminished, weak, almost as if his entire body was caught in one giant charlie horse.

That, and he ended up being right beneath the body of Hades' 3-headed guard dog. "Ah, Dook."

(For Korina this is set after "Corsairs of the Blue Sky" at the Multiverse Expanse, as well as after both scraps "Comparison of Wisdom" and "Bellflower" in Art and Writing.)

Korina felt an odd sensation as soon as she set one foot upon the settlement of dead gray gravel. Almost like if part of her power, her magick, was slowly being drained out her, yet still a fraction of said energies continued within her. Some kind of Jagd, perhaps?

The flow of undead specters, moaning as they flew by an invisible wind, seemed to prove it was somewhere different, much more unsettling for the wandering Gria. "Not a very welcoming spot." she said out loud to herself. While perfectly able to keep her cool, the idea of stepping on the territory of the dead was not of her liking, nor was dealing with the sense of mortallity. "My time isn't up yet. so might as well just take my lea-"

However, as she glanced back she only caught a mere seconds of the Save Point's light before it flickered away. "Oh for the Scions' sake!!"

She crossed her arms as she grumbled under her breath. already bad enough her powers seemed to go weaker in this place, but to also be stuck in here just really put her in a sour mood. As some angry Humes among the world tend to say, "This is a load of bullsh-"

A powerful growl quickly caught Korina's attention making her walk forward to take a better look at her surroundings. There she saw what it seemed like another blocked entryway, but that wasn't important; However the gigantic three-headed hellhound that stood guard was more of a sight. A mysterious man stood right under its jaw, or rather, its multiple jaws.

The beast was already opening one of its huge maws in order to gnaw upon the boy, so Korina was swift and quickly dashed towards the scene and took the boy by the back of his clothing, quickly yanking him away of the monster's range. "Are you alright?" she asked. her eyes shifted focus for a moment to notice another man not so far from them, "Do you know what is this place?"

But before she could even say a word a voice suddenly interrupted the scene...

"Now now, lil' bluebird. allow me to explain it you ya nice and easy..."

A swirl of dark cloud wisp suddenly manifested near the three wanderers, speeding up rapidly into a whirlwind before forming itself into a figure. A man of pale skin, almost blue of color; point sharp chin and wearing black robes. His most prominent feature, however, were the blue flames that lively adorned his head.

Korina was quick to get on a fighting stance, her hand ready tor each for her spear. The dark being in the robes seemed more annoyed than intimidated. "Hey now, no need to get all tense about it. Hmph, practically leave my door open for you 'venturer types to step in, welcoming mat and everything, and that's the greeting I get? Geez Louise, what are manners these days, am I right?"

The Gria lowered her hand, suspicious, but also curious. The fiery man walked towards the hellhound, who took a step back to welcome his master. "Oh don't mind good ol' Cerberus over here. He just been demoted since I apparently can't even trust him to dispose of some little girl throwing knives and a red-haired twerp. And his little ghost dog too!" said the man, his body and fire turning red hot for a fraction of a second as his calm voice got somewhat angry while glaring at Cerberus. the creature just lowering it's heads and giving a small whine in shame.

"And you are?" Asked Korina.

"Name is Hades, Lord of the Dead, god of the Underworld, yadda yadda, how ya doin'." He quickly replied, keeping a laidback attitude, "And this little patch of land is what I call my dominion."

In a mere poof of dark smoke, he already was around TJ, leaning upon his shoulder. "Lovely place if ya ask me. As lively as the folks around them, which as you see, are..well...dead." a snap of his finger created more of his dark clouds, which like a hand, pushed Isaac towards the group as to rile them all up near him.

"Now usually I wouldn't have the time to be in much chit-chat; tight scheduling, souls to torture, all that good stuff..." His gaze suddenly moved to the demon among the group and said, "And trust me when I say it, 'cause if I remember right, this guy over here was suppose to get lost as far of my turf as possible. Too much of a hassle to deal with!"

"But right now, I'm puttin' up a job offering. And i think you fellas are just the people I need..."

Korina crossed her arms and rose her eyes brow slightly. the guy definitely sounded like a guy who couldn't be fully trust it. His title as Lord of the Dead just driving said point home.

"Due to a little...let's just say...minor oversight, the whole place is upside down. I tell ya, you can't seem to find competent servants these days, they just find new ways to surprise you in their stupidity." Hades continued.

"Now I know what you're thinking: "Evil gloomy Hades has his place a wreck, we should celebratin', good over evil, everything is fine n' dandy, yadda yadda, lalala and all that junk", am I right? Of course I'm right..."

One thing for sure, he loved to hear himself talk. Before any could react he was already close, leaning over them as if he was a trusted old friend or something. "But I know you're smarter than that, right? You're no spiky-headed knucklehead, swingin' his key around all over the place thinkin' he know how things world around here."

"No, you know that you need the Underworld for balance or even the people over the upper floors are gonna be dealin' with a bad time. And now we wouldn't want that happenin', would we? Hm? Yeah, exactly!"

He paused for a second before continuing on, "So I'm just gonna cut to the chase. You three help me out with my little situation down here and I'll gladly open up the exit for you fellas to go and go on your business. Do we have a deal?"

Korina stood quiet. Did they even have some other choice? As scheming as Hades was, he was right. If the afterlife was out of control, who knew what could it mean if any of this twisted souls managed to break free....?

Isaac was not exactly amused when he was pushed toward them, but did not complain. Instead, he crossed his arms, walking toward the God of the Underworld, towering over them as he was. Well... towering over some of them, anyway. He was about six-foot-three-inches, so not too much taller than them. But that was another story.

"What happened? Bet it in a card game? I mean you even have Cerberus cowering now. This is really going downhill." He looked over at T.J., his partner, nodding to him. "Hey there."

Hades looked to the demon, teeth starting to grit... but he calmed himself down the best he could. Unusual for him. "Ha ha, laugh all you want. You sure you want them out? You saw the Valley. Real pieces of work down there, let me tell ya."

A nod. "I need to know one thing beforehand. We all do."

A roll of the eyes. "Of course you do. Never satisfied. Shoot."

"Which servants, in particular, are in charge right now?"

A pause... and the god muttered something under his breath.

"Speak up."

"Pain and Panic, alright?!"

A moment of silence from everyone in the area... well, barring the souls still trying to bash through Cerberus' defenses. Isaac spoke first, his voice monotone in surprise.

"What."

"I know."

"Fatty and Skinny..."

"I know, I know..."

"... on your hot seat..."

"I know..."

"Controlling this entire place and the mon--"

"I KNOW!" His hair erupted into red fire for a moment, his eyes blazing with anger as he glared right into the demon's face. The hair toned down to blue again, however. "You think I did this on purpose? They don't even get the tiers of those things! They could have gone with anything, but nooooooooo, they went with the whole shebang I used on Herc the Jerk a while back! Not the Hydra, no, that would be too easy. But tons more, the ones I can use! The Cretan Bull, Hydros, Lythos!"

Isaac let him rant for a few minutes before speaking up again. "Now, care to explain for the class why exactly you're needed, and we shouldn't find someone else?"

"Well, then, fine. We've got a system down here. Pretty solid, all things considered." He snapped his fingers, and three representations appeared over his right hand, in front of the others. An eyeball, a lyre, and Hades' own head, in small, hand-sized pieces. "We got the Fates deciding when people are gonna die," he pointed to the eyeball, "that loudmouth Hermes acting like a shepherd and bringing them down here," a point to the third, "and me, the one who's keeping the whole ship in order. It's a dirty job, but someone's gotta do it." He didn't seem particularly happy about that last part. "Yeah, yeah, I'm the Lord of the Dead, so I'm automatically on your 'bad guy' radar, but let's be honest here: would you prefer that the dead not have a lord? That they just get to roam around, do whatever they wanted? No discipline, nothing to hold them back? Of course not.

"And on the second one, who else would you find? Tons of souls here, but the only others that could potentially work with this would be the Fates, and those lovely ladies aren't going to involve themselves in politicking. Too muddy. Then, there's also the fact that you ain't getting out of here until you help me out, so that's final."

Isaac didn't even bother to mention how hypocritical the mention of Hermes being a loudmouth was. "I mean, I was going to help anyway, since I have nothing better to do, but I just wanted to see the whole presentation." He held up his arm, the one with the mark on it. "You know as well as I do who gave me this."

Hades looked over the marking, smirking slightly. "So someone finally got you pinned down. Good. May as well be Her. You and Zomboy, right?" He motioned over to T.J.

A nod. "So if we're doing this, let's be perfectly clear. We know you want something out of this, and you want something out of us. So let's make this routine."

Hades shrugged. "Your funeral." He snapped his fingers again, the representations replaced with a scroll that was very tightly packed. Then, he waved his hand, and they all disappeared...

=====

Underdrome

... reappearing somewhere entirely else. The arena, such as it was, had been completely emptied. Whatever was happening here had led those here to leave or otherwise not manifest.

Isaac was a bit disoriented, stumbling a bit. He used his heart scanning eyes, skimming the area around them, looking for anything, anyone... there seemed to be something here, but it was unclear what.

"Now then, let's get down to business." Hades let go of the scroll, which unrolled... and unrolled... and unrolled... very far, almost to the end of the arena from the center. "First, I know there's someone else here, so come on out and let's settle this so we can all go home. Really not in the mood for silent treatment right now!"

(Z can bring in the other person we're having here now. His call if he already knows the story or not. After they finish making the deals [a few rounds probably], they'll be transported back to the entrance. This is just a safe spot where he's sure they won't get interrupted rudely.)

Getting pulled out from underneath Cerberus' body, T.J. gives a nod at the lady that helped him. "Thanks." He pauses to look up at Cerberus, sneering. He liked dogs enough... but this wasn't a dog. It was a beast. And, of course, with the appearance of Hades, and with the oncoming explanation that the Lord of the Dead lost control of his own domain... He wanted to snicker at Hades for that. That feeling was doubled when he heard that it was Pain and Panic that had control now. But, even so, he knew this was something quite serious. No wonder She had forced him to look in on this. This could seriously cause problems with the normal folk.

Then, of course, Hades ended up bringing the trio to the Underdrome through his own magic. He shudders a bit from that particular usage. "Could you have done that so that it didn't feel like I was covered with worms? Ugh." However, he hears Hades call out for someone. Taking a sniff, he catches a whiff of sulfur. Was it because of Hades? Probably, since he was of flaming head. But there was something else. Citrus, herbal supplements... Was that a scent of an energy drink?

"Yeah, yeah, yeah, don't you go losing your f***ing dress over it." Sitting up near the very top of the seats in the Underdrome, the last member of this little group stands up and walks down closer to the arena proper. Far enough away, he kneels down, a pair of wings sprout from his back, a number of feathers beginning to eat away as though they were in flames. The figure leaps up and lands in front of the group, landing on top of the extended scroll. The wings burn away, and the man stands up, his purple jacket opened slightly.

Needless to say, Hades isn't thrilled about this newcomer. "Didn't you cause enough damage the last time you came about?"

"Hey, that's on your head letting the Ronin come here to f*** with me." The man, the infamous gangster turned pop culture icon Johnny Gat, steps up to Hades. "'Sides, it's not like I left since then. I'd just been beating the s*** out of one of those one-eyed f***s that you got."

"Wait, wait, wait, wait... You mean to tell me that you beat one of my Cyclops?" Hades' hair flares up as a result.

Gat gestures up towards one of the walls. T.J. looks up, and he can see the face of a cyclops literally jutting out from the stone wall. "Ouch."

Korina just slightly tilted her head at the side of the newcomer. "I always end up meeting the oddest of individuals in these travels..." She muttered to herself. She didn't like the sudden transportation either, but it wasn't like she was never taken by warp magic before.

Her eyes then drifted down at the long loooong contract that suddenly manifested out of thin air. "Do we really need to make this so...legal? Even back in my world, stories of "deals" and "entities of the underworld" going south are pretty common..."

As she crossed her arms behind her head she glanced at the other two guys now involved in this situation. "So, who are you suppose to be?" She asked. "If we're all stuck with this might as well get acquainted."

Isaac tilted his head as he saw the newcomer... then smirked as he saw what had been done to the Cyclops. He liked this guy already. He leaned over in the direction of the draconic woman. "Isaac Zivaku. I've been through enough places like this to know when something isn't right. Or is more not right than usual."

Hades' flaring hair calmed down to its usually sedate blue as he palmed his face in exasperation. "Do you have any idea how annoying it is to train them to catch a falling target? No depth perception at all! And now you went and bashed them through a wall." Lowering his hand slowly, wiping the scowl off his face, he did his best to calm down fully. "Gotta deal with this for now, gotta deal with this for now..."

Isaac motioned to the contract. "By the book. So what's the deal?"

The Lord of the Dead's face turned back to his usual semi-affability. "Well, standard stuff. You get me back on the throne, I give one request each."

Silence for a moment. "So we're clear, one-time angle, nothing else, no strings?"

A roll of the god's eyes. "Come on, who do you take me for? Of course I won't hold it over you! A deal's a--"

"I'm looking that over line by line." He looked back over at T.J. "Go ahead, make friends. I'll be making sure we only have one boss. Oh, by the way." Isaac summoned his double-sided sword, the Abyss form of it, and tossed it over for him to catch. The eyes would allow him to see what was going on there while he talked this out. "Hang on to that for now." With that, he crouched, looking at the contract word by word, muttering to himself.

This was going to take a while.

(People can give their requests, or just go about introducing themselves. Isaac will be doing VERY in-depth analysis of the contract, so it'll probably take a few hours [at least two] that they can use to get to know one another.)

Being handed the weapon, T.J. nods. "Fair enough." Feeling the heft of the weapon in his hands, he rejoins Gat and Korina, getting used to the weight. It was quite different from the chains. But hey, it'd be good practice.

"So what's your story, huh?" Gat pulls out a knife and looks over at T.J, picking under his fingernails with the tip of it. "You know the demon-y motherf***er?"

"Business partner. It's a whole thing." T.J. shakes his head. "Anyway, backstory is simple: I hunt the things that go bump in the night, and in turn have become the universe's butt boy who just can't be kept dead."

"Heh, nice." Gat looks at T.J. who continues to look at the sword lended to him. "Ain't you gonna ask about mine?"

"Nah, I think I know quite a bit about you, Mr. Gat. Former gangbanger and top lieutenant of the 3rd Street Saints turned pop-culture icon." T.J. smirks. "How you got wings, I have absolutely no clue, though..."

"Ah, that's from a Cracked Halo. Got that during the time I was saving my best friend from getting married to Satan's daughter."

T.J. blinks. "... So life got more strange after you became famous. Nice to note."

"Hell, that ain't even the start of the weird s*** I've been through. Being thought dead by the crew, ended up being abducted by aliens so that I wouldn't murder all their asses, being stuck inside a f***ing mind prison for over five years, constantly reliving the worst moment of my life." Gat tosses the knife into the air. "And after my ass getting busted out of that s***, I became a figure in power within a massive alien empire."

"Okay, scratch strange. You've went all bat-s*** wacky right there." T.J. can't help but chuckle. How could he not?

"I'll save my latest crazy s*** for later." Gat looks over at Korina. "What about you, hotness? You got a story to tell?"

"Korina the beautiful wandering Huntress at your service." Korina said proudly as she blew some hair from her face with a flick of her hand while her other hand held against her hip. Vanity sometimes got the best of her. However, she did pick on the advances of the unusual gangster and spoke, "And I am sorry but...um...whatever it is you are aren't really my type, dear."

"My story is as good as any. If someone needs to take down a target, I'm the lady for the job."

With that she glanced at the long contract and asked. "So, Flare Head; What exactly is in your power to grant, anyways?"

Hades was quick to respond. "Anything in my power as Lord of the Dead, of course. Wanna talk with a dead relative? Easy Peasy; A little insurance with your life expectancy? You name it. Need some poor sap's soul to power anything? Seek into the future--"

"Future?"

The fiery god smirked before explaining, "Why of course. Comes with the territory, you know. I just happen to share my little domain with a trio of lovely ladies known as the Fates which just happen to be able to tap into anyone's future. Pretty handy stuff if ya ask me."

Isaac let them talk it out. He watched the "holy" gangster in the extra eye he had lent over, but was looking over the contract. Holding up a hand, he snapped his fingers to get Hades' attention, greatly irritating him. "We'll discuss it as we go. Now, I need to talk about this one." He pointed to one of the many clauses, which Hades looked over alongside him. "Sub-clause 19(K)(III)(XXX) needs reasonableness language."

A bit of writing, and it was in. "Done, but in that case we're putting a best efforts clause into 21(J)."

"Contextual best efforts only. You're not screwing us over on that."

Eventually, they had completed the work, after a lot of effort, witnessed by T.J. as well. As his own boon, Isaac had demanded that he had the right to a rather atypical piece of paper, one he aimed to have modified by an ally for his own use. He allowed each of the others to put their own boons in, as they wanted, if they did, no matter how bizarre (so long as it did not adversely affect him. The demon looked around. "So, we need this notarized. You got a notary around here, Hothead?"

"I got it." Gat watches as every single person there looks at him, a little bit gobsmacked. "What? Just 'cause I'm a bad motha don't mean I can't be a notary? That's just a stupid assumption."

T.J. raises a finger. "I thought you had Legal Lee to deal with the... well, legal matters."

"Yeah, but with him in Hell brokering deals with some of our old partners, someone else needs to work the legal s***. He ended up teaching me that bit back before I got locked up by the aliens." Gat walks over to the massive scroll of legal-ese and grabs a hold of the quill pen. Scratching his name in on the appointed line, he actually itches above his upper lip with the cleaned tip of the pen. "Nothin' like a good feather tip used for scratching, am I right?" Shaking his head, he tosses the pen at the flames on Hades' head, which causes the feather to combust. "Right."

"So, just who or what are we going to be contending with, oh Duke of the Dead and Doomed?" T.J. crosses his arms.

Korina just stood silent. Sure, she was thankful about the group being so focused in making this deal free of any possible way where the Lord of Dead could trick them. She just never expected to find so much legal business in what seemed like a dangerous quest.

However, he attention went back on what TJ mentioned, about him and Isaac and their job. "So what does that convey exactly? You two go after specters and ghouls? Dangerous carriers of the dark arts? That kind of stuff?"

Isaac rolled his eyes at the gria's question. "You say that like the dark arts are a bad thing on principle. I wouldn't bother with that." Still, he thought a moment, then shrugged. "Still figuring out what it means. But hey, the benefits are good."

At the revelation that the gangster was actually legally authorized, he tilted his head in confusion, casually skimming his heart... okay, so not only was he not lying (against all logic), but he also had the powers of a fallen angel steeped in demonic influence. Not half bad. Definitely someone to get as an ally. "...fair enough, then."

Introductions at least part-way done, Hades waved an arm, and a presentation appeared on a rocky wall, made from his fire. It showed a collection of entities, which he pointed to one at a time.

"Knowing those numbskulls, I'd say they'd go with the 'increasing power' work. Only thing they wouldn't have access to is the Hydra, so let's go with the usual suspects."

He pointed to the first of them, a group of half-men, half-horses. "Probably got a group of centaurs. After the show put on with Nessus up on the surface, they aren't exactly the forgiving type, so hey, I got a bunch of living on my force as a bonus. Or...theirs." He grumbled a bit at that before moving on.

A mumble for a moment, then he extinguished a presentation of a collection of snake-haired girls, mumbling something about a seal. Instead, he went onward, to the next on his list. "Got some of my people working on making a replica of one of Typhon's girls. Kitty's got claws, though." With that, he motioned to a being with the head of a lion with a mane, a reptilian-skinned body, clawed-yet-humanoid hands, and a snake for a tail. "Chimera's what she calls herself. Real nasty one to put together, but mostly for getting them to stop with the jokes of being 'alive'. A note: if they make one, set them on fire. It'll make this easier for us all."

Isaac shrugged at the comments so far. So a chimera... he was confused over one thing. "You say it's a female... but it has a mane. Any explanation for that?" He had seen the Franken-monster, so he knew how to handle it, mostly. Something about breathing fire... As a relaxing technique, he spread his demonic wings briefly, then partially folded them, though not under his shirt.

An annoyed glare. "You didn't make it, you got hired. So shut your mouth and listen." As the demon smirked, he noted the next in line. "Ceto isn't where she should be. Should be chowing down on spirit soup. Opening up the Valley also let her through, so you're gonna have to go fishing. If that ain't enough, Kill's out of the cage. Idiots think that's a good insurance policy. Could be with the chimera, could be with Ceto, not my job to figure that out, it's yours to deal with it."

Isaac crossed his arms. "I still think naming your fire-breathing, metal-feather-launching, bronze-beaked bird 'Kill' is a bit redundant. What ever happened to 'Fluffy'?"

Not even bothering to tell him to shut up, he answered instead. "You know I have higher standards than--"

"You named your three-headed dog 'Spot'."

"Just let me finish. Or do you want this place to go even further downhill?" At the silence, he continued. "The worst one, I'd say, is Hydros the Lurker. Ice Titan. Used him in some tournaments. Also not half bad at cooling drinks, either." The presentation finally closed, extinguishing itself. "Alright, so you got any questions? No? Good, now get to work!"

On that shout, they all were gone with a puff of smoke, reappearing outside once more.

Isaac was rather nonchalant about the whole thing, still. "Still, Spot, seriously."

(So here's the order: eight centaurs, then the chimera as a miniboss. Then a dual boss of Kill and Ceto in the Valley of the Dead, then a final boss against Hydros. You guys can start it up as soon as possible. You can treat the centaur fighters like "Assault Rider" Heartless from Land of Dragons.)

"Well, I can't really speak for him..." T.J. gestures at Isaac before looking. "But the best way I can describe what I do is... ensuring a status quo. Making sure that things stay they way they should be... That everything was copacetic, as it were." T.J. shakes his head. "Be it monsters, supernatural threats, or things that just happen to be out of place. If they begin posing a problem, I step in to ensure the problem's dealt with." Under his breath, he mutters, "I'd rather prefer sitting on my duff and reading, but..."

However, his complaint is set aside as Hades names off the impending threats. Centaurs... Not much a problem as long as you can be swift of foot. So... he could expect some pain. Chimera... Certainly a few ranks above a Centaur when it comes to lethality. So, a lot more pain there. Ceto, a sea serpent... Not unlike a few creatures thought to be lurking around back on his world. Kill, the most redundant name for a Stymphalian Bird that he ever heard. At least Hades didn't call it Flaming FlyJab McKillsey. I'd have laughed. But then... The Ice Titan. No joke, if he weren't gifted with that healing hoo-doo he had, he'd be dead in no time flat. He was still almost certain that this particular battle would end with crippling amounts of pain. "Oh joy. This is going to be a problem."

Gat leans against one of the stony walls, shrugging as each of the monsters were laid out. The only one he raised his eyes at was the bird named Kill. "Ah, come on, that's a weak-ass name. Wouldn't Pecker be a better choice?"

"Dude!" T.J. looks over at Gat. "Haven't you heard the term 'Don't Poke the Bear?'"

"What?" Evidently, Gat was a bit non-plussed at this.

T.J. points at Hades, his head covered in white-hot flame. "You're poking it... with a friggin' cattle prod. So seriously, knock it off."

"Psh."

Enveloped in smoke By Hades' magic, the group finds themselves back outside the Underdrome. T.J. shakes his head. "So... centaurs first."

Gat cracks his knuckles. "Sounds like fun."

The Kresnik sighs. "Fun. Right."

"Very well, now where do we find these Centaurs."

That question was quickly answer by the galloping stomps of an upcoming threat, as the Centaurs were rushing towards them like an stampede.

"...That's convenient." Korina said as she grinned deviously. Taking her spear out she charged towards the four-legged creatures, opening her wings and elevating into the air. One of the Beasts wasted no time and tried to lunge its spear at her, but with a dodge and a swing of her own weapon, the centaur fell back in pain.

"So boys, I know I'm gorgeous but are you gonna stand there and watch me or are you joining the party as well?" She teased the "heroic" lot behind her.

Another Centaur attempted to attack her, but the Gria quickly used her spear to block, starting to going in circles around the particular half-ling monster.

As the centaurs arrived, Isaac had summoned his Abyss Reaper to his hands. There were not many of them, perhaps eight in total, but they each would prove slightly difficult. He smirked a bit at Korina's comment, but didn't say anything about it as he flew at another of the equine creatures.

His behavior was controlled, yet aggressive at the same time. A deflected thrust toward his abdomen caused a bit of his blood to fly off behind him and hit the ground, but this strike turned into a slash at one of the forelegs, causing the creature to rear up in surprise and pain... leaving him open from below for a thrust directly upward. The impalement took straight through the center of that area, followed by a twist and a yank back out.

The centaur, too surprised to say a word, collapsed, disintegrating into motes of light that flew off.

Isaac smirked, confident in his strike... and winced as one of the others hit him from behind. He scowled, raising a hand behind him, and threw a ball of pure hellfire at that one, setting him aflame with a scream of agony as he burned, distracted by the flames as a spin of the double saber sliced his head off, causing the same destruction as the one before it.

Still, Isaac was not too badly hurt. This was just a reminder for him: this world was dangerous for those without divine protection, and he had, unluckily, not taken to choosing that as his personal gift.

(Each one can get two centaurs. The blood can be used by T.J., if he so desires, but that's your call, Z.)

"Man, those are some ugly motherf***ers." Right away, Gat pulls out his .45 and opens fire at one of the Centaurs. However, he finds that his pistol... well, it's not as effective as it should be, as the slugs hit, but do not penetrate. "You gotta be kidding me." Dodging a few swings from his targets, Gat opts to switch over to his combat knives. Rolling to the side, he kicks one of the spears out of a centaur's hands, before hobbling the thing with a few swift slashes and stabs to its equine legs. Hopping onto the centaur's back, he flips the knife and jabs it into the creature's throat. As the first of his centaurs falls, Gat is caught awares with a dual mule kick, knocking him back.

T.J. leaps out of the way of a few wide spear swings of one centaur, only to have his shoulder pierced by the spear of another and forced onto the ground. Holding onto the shaft of the spear, he tries to pry it loose, only to find that it cannot budge, due in part to it not only be held there by the centaur, but also being embedded into the rocky floor. Here he was, weakened, no weapons available... He looks over to see a few patchy spots of spilled blood on the ground. Looking at it, his eyes glow purple and watches as the crimson fluid rises up. After nary a moment, the life blood shoots into his mouth. Oh, he didn't want to stoop to this, but what choice was there?

It's as though a surge of electricity flows through his body. Grabbing a hold of the spear's shaft again, he grips it with one hand, before chopping the spearhead off. Shoving him back with a small amount of TK, he pulls the spearhead out of his shoulder, before leaping up and at the Centaur, plunging the implement into the creature's temple. Grabbing the spear-turned-staff, T.J. turns and blocks a number of attempted strikes, before retaliating himself. Striking both arms with the staff with enough force to shatter bone, the Kresnik leaps onto the Centaur's back, places the staff under the creature's neck, and brings both his knees against the back of the neck, pulling back with tremendous force... enough to force the thing's neck to snap.

Gat, meanwhile, rolls out of the way of a few stomps of the creature. Drawing inspiration, the marks of the Cracked Halo begin to generate. "Oh, you wanna put a foot down? I'll put my foot down!" Raising his right leg up, Gat slams his foot down hard onto the ground, generating a shockwave that forces the centaur to stumble. Running to the stunned creature, Gat once again removes his .45. Maybe the outsides were tough enough to take his bullets, but the inside? Placing the barrel of the gun inside the creature's mouth, he fires, and watches as a bullet is launched out of the enemy's head, and sees it slump down. He extracts his gun, covered in blood and centaur spittle. "Gah. That's f***ing nasty."

Korina still had two centaurs after her. Dodging their spears was hard; Even with one of them heavily wounded, both were still putting a fight. However, she knew she had to focus on the damaged one first.

As the creature swung its spear again she slid under it, taking the chance and stabbing it on the leg with her own weapon. with wasting a moment she lunged up to reach behind it and grab hold of her bow. One arrow was all she needed, as this one had its head made of fire Magicite, so as soon as she shot it and impaled into the beast, it caused a mild explosion that disintegrated the monster.

Her victory was short lived, the other Centaur being quick to tackle her with it's full strength, against the underworld walls. Korina cursed loudly as a sharp spike of the cavern dug through her side. the Centaur threw its spear at her, the Gria having to tilt her head to dodge it by a mere second.

Having no time to pull out softly, Korina just had to yank herself out of the spike, biting her lip hard at the pain that ensued. She glanced at the now stuck weapon and pulled it out before throwing it at the Centaur.

The beast easily dodged it as it continued forward, however stop as the dragon-looking lady had left, only small drops of blood remaining.

"Hey there"

It felt to hands behind it's back that quickly climbed up towards it's neck, dagger then quickly placed close to the skin. With out remorse, Korina slit its throat, spilling a shot of blood before the Centaur fell down, disappearing moments later.

"Why can't a job ever go easy" She muttered at herself before wincing at her hurt side.

Isaac looked to the dissipating remains of the other centaurs. He twirled his weapon briefly to clean it, using the rocks as well, not that there was any need, and looked to the entryway toward the left. He considered the path silently.

First would come the entryway toward the Cave of the Dead, with Heartless, spirits, possibly the two at war, et cetera. It was a long road in which to travel, but it was unlikely that there would be serious opposition there unless Kill were to badger them the whole way. Which was probably likely.

Then came the Cave of the Dead itself, an open space with a small nook holding an empty chest that could be used for cover. That was the most likely location of the Chimera.

Next was the long, winding road of the Valley of the Dead, with Ceto, the the ruler chamber.

He cracked his neck. "Next."

(You guys can move ahead. The Cave entrance can even be very brief mention. It's mostly an intro to Kill.)

Wiping his gun clean of centaur spittle and blood, Gat drops the now-spent clip from his pistol and inserts a fresh one. "Not too bad for a short scrap."

"Not too bad? You gotta be joking." T.J. looks down at the wound on his shoulder, and sees that it hasn't yet healed. Stupid rules of this place... "Aside from you, Gat, all of us must have had some blood drawn during the brawl."

"Hey, you're still alive, so quit your bitchin'." Gat looks over at the pathway leading towards the Cave of the Dead. "I'm just wondering what the next thing I'll kill will be."

"You really do have a one track mind." T.J. pauses to look over at Korina, noticing the blood on her side. He looks for a few moments before he realizes that he is doing so. Shaking his head, he pulls his eyes away from her and wipes his mouth with his forearm before looking at the entrance to the Cave of the Dead. "Sooner we get this done, the better." Moving towards the entryway, he grabs a hold of right-hand side of the stone door. "Little help would be appreciated."

Gat holsters his pistol and moves towards the entry, grabbing a hold of the other side of the door. After a few moments, the two open the door, revealing the path inside. A number of spirits are floating around... but no Heartless. "Well, that's boring." Almost immediately, he winces. "What the f***?" Looking over at his arm, he extracts a bronze feather from his bicep.

Still holding onto the makeshift staff from his previous battles, T.J. groans. "Great. Just what we need. A Zeus-damned Stymphalian bird."

As soon as Gat was hit and TJ pointed out the beast was after them, Korina took out her bow and tried to pin point the bird's location. However, that was proving difficult as the monster zoomed form one side to another, making it impossible to get a clear shot, specially in such a darkened room.

"Damn it all..." She muttered. The Stymphalian bird known as Kil unleashed a series of sharp feather to rain down on the group. The Gria rose her spear and swung it in the with the projectiles, blocking them off their path and into the floor around her.

They had to make a run for it. Not like Kil here was gonna make it easy. "Everyone! Cover your eyes!! As soon as it's done run as fast as you can!!"

From her pocket she took out a small glowing white stone "Last one I have. Really need to restock on new equipment..." The thought quickly crossed her mind, but there was no choice. She then smashed it into the floor, causing a powerful flash to envelop the area and blind the bird.

"Now!! Let's move!!" She shouted to her companions as she rushed past, no matter if they could or not ehar her; Her previous orders made it clear Kil. Korina winced softly as she pressed her hand against her wound to contain it. She couldn't slow down right now; Not with that monster giving chase.

As it's sight recovered, Kil seemed very upset. Flying after the Gria and opening it beak of bronze and expelling a breath of fire after her. The huntress continued running, trying to outspeed the flames.

Isaac, ever the one to help others, had already spread his wings and begun to fly down the hall. He dodged to one side, then to the other, leaving the others far behind as he dared. Of course, he did leave a space for them to catch up, especially as the avian menace shot a gout of flame at his back. He needed it to keep its attention divided or he wouldn't do so well getting down to the end of this.

He wasn't quite "abandoning" them. More he was letting them handle things while he kept himself alive as well and left them for the time being to fend for themselves.

Okay, so yeah, he was abandoning them. Sort of. But really, if they (T.J. notwithstanding) couldn't find their own ways to move faster ahead, that was their own losses.

Kill was not a very focused assailant. He knew that unless it had a deliberate focus, it was unlikely that it would be overly dangerous. It was worse in flocks, and they did not have many of the birds down here, likely sealed off when Hades sealed the underworld as he had. if anything, the bird was more likely to be an annoyance. They had to keep it from staying too long on any one target until they could get somewhere else... and he had a perfect way of distracting it at the exit.

Spinning in a barrel roll as he tucked his wings in, Isaac avoided two bronze feathers as they came at him. He was at home in the air after all, much like this bird.

His plan? Well, demons like himself tended to attract monsters by their mere presence. It had to do with his kind's relationship with mana being so antagonistic, he assumed. So, the Heartless were gone?

What better shields for their escape to the cave itself?

(Isaac Zivaku: Helping!

We can probably move this along relatively fast. Even T.J. I assume wouldn't see too much against Isaac, considering it probably makes sense whatever he's doing. Still a jerk move, but eh, he's a demon and still getting the hang of this "try not to act like a sociopath" thing.)

"Oh you sunnuva..." Gat pulls out his shotgun and cocks it, taking aim. "Quit your flapping, you little f***er..." He fires three times, and each shot misses as Kill swerves out of the path of the rapidly traveling pellets. "I said quit flapping!" He hops back as Kill performs a divebomb, and rolls to the side as Kill begins to exude fire from its mouth. Reaching into his coat, he extracts a glass bottle topped with a rag. Bringing the tip of the rag down to a small patch of flames, the rag ignites. "Have a cocktail, you flappy little f***!" Gat tosses the bottle at Kill, who simply opens its mouth and catches it, breaking the bottle and causing the flammable liquid inside to pour down its gullet. Somehow, it hiccups. Gat can't help but cock his head. "You gotta be s***ing me. Thing's smashed now?"

"Gat, you idiot! You don't feed the flame-spewing bird a Molotov!" Grabbing a hold of the back of Gat's coat, T.J. pulls him back as Kill unleashes a massive fireball right where Gat once stood. "You just buffed it up from moderate irritation to almost guaranteed to kill us all!" Batting away a number of the dagger-like bronze feathers, T.J. looks to see that far too much of his makeshift staff's been chopped off from all the deflections.

"How was I supposed to know it liked that kind of s***?" Taking aim once again with his shotgun, he fires again. This time, the pellets hit, but are deflected as they bounce off the metallic feathers with a 'PING'.

Noticing his 'business partner' flying in the air, T.J. yells at him. "Isaac, if you've got a freakin' Deus Ex Machina stashed away, now would be a good time to use it!"

Korina glanced at how Isaac just rushed forward leaving everyone behind, as well as Gat just basically feeding the enemy and just groaned. Truly, Hades picked the greatest group of professionals...Of course she received a massive spear stab so she knew she wasn't one to criticize. She just had to trust them...everyone but Gat, at least.

She took aim once more, this time picking one of his ice arrows. With Kil focusing on her companions at the moment, it gave her just the right time to get it in her sights. She released the string and the arrows flew right at the beast's wing, creating a shell of ice on impact and making it loose it's balance.

Kil fell to the ground as it tried to bring its wing out of the icy encasing, only for it to get mad and just smash it free. It wasn't enough to stop it, but gave enough time for the huntress and the others tor each Isaac at the end of the tunnel.

Isaac, at the way ahead, palmed his face in exasperation. Of course things couldn't ever go smoothly. A bottle of flaming alcohol being swallowed by a fire-breathing bird... Not the smartest idea either. Still, he lowered his hand enough to call out to T.J.

"Deus ex machina? And you call me rude?"

He stood there, waiting for the inevitable to come. Demons attracted monsters like a magnet. Heartless were the most common monsters. Therefore, it would lead to them coming and attacking anything in sight.

...right?

They were getting closer, as was the intoxicated avian monster. He needed this to go right so they wouldn't have to handle it going forward! What were they going to do in the next location if not that?

...unless this counted as some kind of "boss" area, which might override him. That tended to happen sometimes.

A pause.

"Ah, f*** it." He turned to the way forward. "Gat, you find a way to get that drunk buzzard focused on something that's not us! Even if it means knocking it out with that stuff! Everyone else, move it!" With that, he motioned for them to continue forward. With luck, the gangster would prove good enough to act as a distraction while they went onward.

Of course, he didn't care if they were going to survive. The main thing for him was that he wanted them to act as good enough distractions for one another, not to mention good contacts for later. A favor owed and all that.

(Z, you can come up with a way to get Kill out of the way. Feel free to make it funny and/or awesome.

Next up is the Chimera.)
