Anthony walked down the streets, passing by the enormous church of Notre Dame. He had just arrived and overheard that there had been a commotion two streets away from the church. As he kept walking by, some peasants ran past him in a hurry, fear in their eyes. Anthony managed to hear one of them yelling about a haunted, godforsaken home and wanting to be nowhere near it. "Looks like I'm on the right track." His interest in this situation was purely out of curiosity. Especially when he heard that T.J. had been working with someone as a paranormal investigator. Considering he didn't know much about this partner, Anthony was curious about him but never bothered asking T.J. the last time they saw each other. "He had a lot on his mind that time." Soon enough, he reached his destination, an abandoned medium sized home with a sign in front written in French. "My guess is that it means No Entry Allowed." |

(Takes place after "Unnatural Selection" in "Gregzilla's Assorted Writings" in Art and Writing.) "Which is why you need me in there." Isaac was somewhat annoyed at how long this was taking. The guardsmen had the whole place on lockdown, and he wasn't about to use his demonic magic without making absolutely sure he could get away with it. In a place like this, any form of witchcraft, especially demonic, would be liable to set off alarm bells. Well, not literal ones, but he couldn't be sure. After TJ Brackin had disappeared, he'd continued on his way through the worlds, leaning on finding out places where the arcane had infiltrated the mundane, especially across the barrier of life and death. He had kept the books involved with researching them, of course, though he did still tend toward his own biological means in conjunction with his hellfire. Still, he had been looking into figuring out any other uses for hellfire, perhaps in death magic without Brackin's aid. None of that seemed to matter now, though. All he needed was someone to at least distract this lone guard to either let him through or allow him to make up for this wasted effort. "Not without the approval of the Church or my superiors. No exceptions, especially not for any gypsies." Even though his outfit was not exactly outlandish, perhaps it was his general otherworldliness or just not fitting in with the general populace of late. Who knew? "I could just leave, let the haunting take care of itself..." |

Anthony watched as two people were arguing with each other right in front of the house. One looked like a guard from this world to him and the other was a guy that was obviously not from around here. He jumped over the gate since he saw they were closer to the house and walked closer to the two. "Excuse me. Is this the haunted house?" The guard quickly turned from his argument to see Anthony and glared at him. "Another gawking gypsy? Listen, I'll tell you what I just told him. No one goes in without the approval of the Church or my superiors. No exception!" He said, giving a glare that dared one to try to challenge him. "Really? Because he should have something from your superior that proves he has a right to be here if he was hired." Anthony commented. "If what I overheard is true, then he was hired. Which means him being here is expected." "And until I hear such orders directly from the Church or my superiors, no one is passing!" The guard focused his glare more at Anthony. "And are you daring to tell me how to do my job?! From a " "Of course not. I'm simply explaining what I overheard." Anthony replied, his focus as much on the guard just as viceversa. |

Isaac didn't bother to speak to the man who had just distracted the guard. He'd had enough of the repetition in his talk, regardless. Instead, he headed toward the home, thinking on what he had heard. Normally, he would have stolen some money from the guard for wasting his time, but such an action would be a bit difficult at present with him being distracted, yet aware of the demon's presence. Instead, Isaac decided to look over the home. He was not able to see through everything like his brother, nor send out some advanced reconnaissance like his other brother without some additional research and preparation. Still, he did look over some of the signs normally. A scream from within the area, somewhere. There wasn't much to it, beyond a generalized location, and it seemed to only really be audible beyond a certain radius from the home, as if it were encompassing the entire spherical area around the haunt. He was going to need something to be able to track the source, something to isolate it in order to disperse it from the location, or to close a rift if that were the case. Often he needed a more celestial power if he did not have access to death magic, something grounded in the world to enable it to come forth. Unfortunately, his own powers were based around hellfire, with some steeped in the nether as well due to his connection with Death herself. None of it would work in that case. He used to have Brackin to help, but after his disappearance, his blood magic's physical component wasn't quite there anymore. How could he use the right spell to discern the source, if nothing else but to settle this racket? |

Anthony was getting a bit exasperated in his... discussion with the guard, who while glaring at him, was also keeping an eye at the other person here. "And I keep telling you, there is no need for this aggression. Please calm down, sir." He replied, keeping a straight face as he dealt with such a stubborn yet dedicated man. "And how am I expected to calm down when a gypsy is telling me how to do my job?!" The guard yelled, his own patience with dealing with two civilians whom he believes to be gypsies having thinned. It was a this moment that something hit the back of the guard's head. He angrily turned around, unsheathing his sword. "You'll pay for that!" He glared at Isaac, a wooden bucket on the ground right besides him. Anthony watched that with a curious expression. "I'm sorry but he didn't throw the bucket. It came from-" He commented as the guard suddenly turned around at him, sword drawn. "Please calm down, sir." Anthony added, having seen the bucket come from the house. "Silence. I should shackle you and throw you to the stocks!" The guard yelled angrily, now fully focused on Anthony, no longer paying attention to Isaac. And now he couldn't hear the two. "No thank you. I'd rather eyes were closed." Anthony, hands still raise in defense casted his Flacula spell, suddenly releasing a blind light in the area. He hoped that his comment about closing eyes would tell the other guy what he was doing right now and work as a warning. "My eyes!" The guard yelled, now suddenly blinded and panicking. Especially since he couldn't see the two intruders nor anything right now. "I know you two are around here! I know one's in front!" And then the guard ran off, in a completely different direction, essentially walking out of the residence, the gate having left open by Anthony who never bothered closing it. Speaking of said Converger, he had kept quiet after using his spell and watched the guard leave the area in a panic, chasing after them when in fact, neither of them had moved. Isaac had made sure to keep track of what was going on, despite also working at the same time. It seemed that the haunting had some form of poltergeist element to it, but it wasn't a lot. That guard was annoying him enough that he was considering how he could get him off to the side and get rid of him one way or another... but where would he hide the body if he did? Such a hassle... Able to take the hint, the demon had looked away as the flash of light had shown out, thereby not blinded. So some form of light magic... and not much in the way of subtlety. Now, he would scan his heart, but there was no telling if there were a defense mechanism to blind him that way, given he did not have information on the true nature of that light. In any case, the stranger did seem to help, despite having absolutely no reason to do so. One of those "altruism" things he'd heard about and at which he had, on occasion, made half-hearted attempts. Perhaps he could be induced to help, especially without his former partner. As of yet, there wasn't much he could really do for this place, so he didn't make much of an attempt to solve the problem just yet. He would need some backup. |

Anthony let out a sigh of relief after the guard finally left. "Now then.." He looked at the other guy first to see if he had been blinded by his spell. A quick glance told him he wasn't, so he simply walked up to him. "The guard is out of the way." He commented then walked passed the man. Anthony would ask him if he was a Converger later. But right now, he was more interested in going into the house to investigate before the guard's sight returned and came back running here. He continued his steps towards the house and stopped close to it. Anthony knelt down to check the steps into the house to see the foot prints. "The fresher prints don't go anywhere into the house. No one has bothered entering the place lately. Makes sense after all." He got up and walked towards the door, but not before calling out. "You are following, yes?" |

Isaac nodded, walking toward the house. "Been waiting for someone else to come along. That guy was getting on my nerves." The scream was raising and lowering in volume and pitch, making it difficult to find a source to, so the demon didn't bother just yet. "I'm no exorcist. It would be rather odd of me to be one, regardless. Just trying to calm whatever is around here down, or banish it if needed, if there's a rip in the veil of some sort. What can you do?" Normally, he would have skimmed his heart, but wasn't really in the mood. He could do that while the man was talking, anyway. |

"His type are usually straightfoward, by the book people. I don't dislike them but one needs to actually check what other people say before disregarding their words." Anthony answered as he heard the scream inside. The constant volume change from it made it difficult for him to know where it came from. He nodded in agreement about the exorcist part, having already looked over the guy and seen that nothing about him suggest he has the skills, temperament or knowledge of exorcism. "What I can do? You've seen part of it." Anthony answered, but stopped walking for a moment. He knew the guy probably wanted a clearer answer. "It's called Solar magic. It's essentially a combination of fire and light. Both are elements that can deal with the living dead but right now, I only know three spells. You've already guessed one of them. Another lets me fire a single, concussive beam of light. And the third one let's me superheat my weapon, allowing me to send out whips of super hot energy with each swing." Having finished his explanation, he looked back to his new companion. "What of your skills? And a name to go with you as well." |
