Pictures will follow but I just wanted to say that I'm going to be doing something with the colony, soon. I don't know what but something, they are just sitting there waiting, with like 200+ individuals, and a few females have died [which is good, means they laid their eggs and are done doing what they need to do!] so in a month these guys should double, or triple if I can boost them with enough Larvae/beetles from around my house. They are a lot slower breeding then Lardarius but still pretty fun! I will get a monthly count for August on August 30th/2014, so we can see just how big the colony really is, 200 was the count from a few days ago, so hopefully we hit at least 300-400 by the next count! I plan to do something with this colony in the winter as well. An Over-Feeding Challenge I'll post more about that at a later date though

Just realized this year is like my 5th anniversary for doing Winter Over-Feeding Challenges! I should do something special. Maybe a Dermestes lardarius colony vs. Attagenus unicolor colony? |

What about a roach colony? They are interesting, fast growing and could be profitable for you? |

I started this colony about 3 months ago from about 20-30 mixed. Now it's well over 200+ [mainly due to some minor boosting ]Here are a few pics: ![]() ![]() New Setup [After this picture was taken I added in some toilet paper just for the larvae so they can hide and pupate, since a lot of them are ready to! Adults of this species live just enough to breed/lay eggs then die. Eggs take about 5-12 days to hatch, but larvae can take anywhere from 3 months to 3 years to develop. Although the later is just for outdoor beetles/larvae because the conditions shouldn't be too unfavorable for them!] ![]() Sorry about the long wait for the Pictures, once I get enough of them I'll make a new video for this colony, this is my favorite species, too bad they breed so slowly .
