The Rostrogian task force dubbed as TF3 sailed into the Strait of the Northern Sea with ease. All six ships were at normal readiness and were scanning the area with only two F-18 fighter jets on patrol and one AWAC stretching the radar sights of TF3. Admiral Leon Gent stood on the bridge of the flagship, the battleship HRMS Sea Serpent. He looked to Captain William Howerson, second in command of the Sea Serpent and smiled.

"This should be a normal walk of the mill patrol in this sector, not to much to ask for. Then we get to head back home" Cpt. Howerson chuckled a little bit at the Admirals remark and responded in his normal sarcastic tone.

"Oh but sir, what about the enemy who are over the horizon ready to strike at our beloved nation. We the Rostrogs first defense" Howerson chuckled some more but Admiral Gent just shook his head.

"Captain, we should always be prepared for everything and anything. We never know what is out there, it is the ocean, one of the last frontiers on this planet. Better remember that Captain otherwise you will end up dead and swimming with the fish and sharks." Admiral Gent looked sternly in Captain Howersons' face for a moment then laughed.

"Sir you should not do that, you scared me for a second" The two men laughed as the small task force sailed around the ocean on its normal patrol deployment of a year. The men and women of TF3 would soon find out that they were not going to be just on a normal patrol, they were smack in the middle of a combat zone that would soon see some of the regions navies come toe to toe for control of the Strait of the Northern Sea.

The Shameful Poretos
The Obscenely Dishonoured Exile

HIM Imperial Fleet continues its journey along the waves in defensive formation, they remain at normal readiness however this means that the submarine is constantly using sonar and radar due to the Defensive budget they have received 2 Super sonic jets are out however they are mainly serving as a protection force. "Captain on Deck" spouts Lt.Kernal as Admiral George takes to the helm. "This doesn't smell right, the Emperor wouldn't send us out here like this on normal readiness if he didn't think something was going to happen - has the sub sent us any information?". "Yes sir, they are still waiting for their cup of tea - but other than that just a few bleeps on the Radar and Sonar but when we sent out our jets they were only Whales." Reported Lt.Kernal. "Did they take some pictures; my nephew loves whales?" asks Admiral George "No, sir..." Then Lt.Kernal is interupted by a message coming through from the Submarine.. "Heightened alert to all the fleet - Get all Action Stations prepared for my command - tell the Sub they will have to wait for that cup of tea."

"Flag Admiral Radetsky, we'll be reaching our destination in about 3 hours time. Any others you wish to give out?" asked the captain on the bridge of the GIN Admiral D. Camargue.

"No, nothing." was the only reply that came from Radetsky. It had taken Force 124, the name of the task force for investigative missions, a total of 33 hours out at sea, excluding the travelling time from the home port at Port Imperial and several other stops along the way to collect the mission needs.

Looking over the 2 enormous front batteries of 6 18-inch guns of the Admiral D. Camargue, the captain finally asked the question the crew had been asking since their departure. "Flag Admiral, can you at least tell us what exactly we are investigating? And why are we carrying a full load of ammunition and maintaining complete radio silence? My sailors, in the very least, need to know."

"Actually, I don't know. The Emperor gave the orders to Strategic Command, Strategic Command gave the orders to the Greater Imperial Navy, and then they gave it to me. When it came to me all that was on the order was to proceed over here. How the hell am I supposed to know what I'm supposed to do?" Radetsky snapped in a rather frustrated tone. He paused for a while, and before the captain could reply, "And then the worst thing is, the process of getting a fleet is horrible. I mean, I asked for nuclear submarines, but on the day of departure, I get nuclear submarines that aren't even fitted with a full load of anti-air missiles or torpedoes. It's like we are cutting costs or something. And then, I get denied of a battleship, when I really want to, you know, show off on a battleship that holds 9 batteries of 21-inch guns. And when I look at GIN Lunette, it's like there's nothing in her. As in, how the hell is she fitted with only 12 JD-13 Interceptors? And then I get 8 JD-21 Dive Bombers and 2 JD-08 Fighter-Bombers. Thankfully we are stocked full on anti-aircraft and anti-ship missiles on our aircraft carrier and missile cruisers."

"Well, Flag Admiral, don't underestimate the battlecruisers of the GIN. We might not be as armoured and bristling with guns like our mega-battleships but we already outclass every single battlecruiser in the world. Towards a point we are actually, under international definitions, a battleship." The captain tried his best to be polite with the man that just insulted his ship. "Okay, whatever." To a certain extent, Radetsky sort of gave up his explanation. He was only hoping for the best. Hopefully.

Some of the men were singing, "Whiskey in the Jar" by the Dubliners in the mess hall. It was a hardy tune and it cheered up most of the crew. However their singing was quickly ended when the order for battle stations come over the PA system and the whistle was blown. Men and women rushed to their positions all over TF3 guns were being loaded and defense systems were being put online. Pilots on the HRMS Vanguard rushed to their planes as their were being fueled up and loaded with full payload. The radar showed two small fleets in the area. Whether they were hostile or not this was a serious concern. TF3 was loaded out with full combat payload, however the fleet was small. The Vanguard only carried 18 F-18 Super Hornets and 12 A-6 Intruders. Admiral Gent was calmly yet purposefully giving orders, the submarine HRMS Reapers Sow was to be in the back of the fleet, the two Heavy Cruisers would flank the Aircraft Carrier and the Battleship would spear head the task force with the destroyer to its left. TF3 quickly moved into this formation than began combat defensive maneuvers, 9 F-18s were sent up at a time if they were attacked by the air they would be the first line of defense while the other aircraft launched. The other fleets though were not cleared as hostile, Admiral Gent after getting off the horn with Captain Johnathan Marshall of the HRMS Widow Maker; an Invincible Class Heavy Cruiser. Called Rostrog Naval Command.

"Yes, I have two fleets on radar. Yes, please go get him. Good morning Your Majesty, no sir, yes sir. We are ready for anything. No sir. Understood sir" Slowly hanging up with the King he turned to the sailors around him.

"We are cleared to engage the enemy. Get me the captain of the Reapers Sow, right now" A radio link was quickly made with the for now surfaced sub.

"Yes admiral you have clearance to fire upon the enemy fleet when we are engaged or when we engage the enemy. Preferably the last, I want to have a preemptive strike on the enemy how ever keep our distance. You will be our arm that we can reach out. Good get it down Captain"

Admiral Gent looked worried, six ships and thirty aircraft against two other fleets. He did not know if they were allied or not, this could mean serious trouble for his fleet. Right now he just needed to keep his fleet safe. Behind the submarine submerged and shortly after a whooshing sound was heard through TF3 as a large non-nuclear ballistic missile which housed four anti-ship missiles; this was a relatively new missile design courtesy of the Rostrog Ministry of Research and Defense. The missile's booster kicked in as it made a little drop towards the sea then lifted off into the air. All the way up it would be receiving information from various ships and aircraft all registered in the Rostrog Naval System. After only a minute the larger case broke apart and the coordinates were downloaded into the anti-ship missiles that were now heading for their targets. It seemed that the captain of the Reaper's Sow took Admiral Gent's hint on engaging the enemy.

The Shameful Poretos
The Obscenely Dishonoured Exile

"False alarm" stated Captain Denvard. "You brought the entire fleet to heightened alert for another Whale?" questioned Fleet Admiral George. "Sir, you said better save than sorry but we did pick something out of it..."replied Captain Denvard. "Well out with it then Captain" spouted the Admiral. "Well once the radio interceptor was turned on as part of the Code Red checks-" "I ordered radio silence all radio equipment was to remain offline!" shouted the Admiral furiously. "Admiral you know the Interceptor doesn't work like that - we have the most renowned scientists in the Region working for the Defence force... and we picked up a message from another fleet. They don't know why they are here either - seems two radio operators belayed orders and had a conversation without their Captains knowing as they didn't know what was going on..." replied Captain Denvard calmly. "It's a good job your too good a Captain otherwise you'd be taking my job," replied the Admiral, "However this is very strange - keep monitoring all radio signals and keep the Low Orbit Satellites over this area, I want us to be the first fleet to know what's going on - Maintain Heightened Alert - Admiral Out". (The encrypted radio went silent and the Radio Jammer was turned off [there was no point wasting the nuclear reactors energy to prevent interception when there were no messages]) "Lt.Kernal stop looking at your 12 bloody jets and make sure there are some of them in the air - no slower than Mach one if they are out of the 30km Safe zone and keep your 8 inch gun and the Cannon systems active, and keep the 2 4.5 Inch guns ready. Contact the rest of the fleet especially the Missile Destroyer and the Heavy Cruisers and keep them ready - but make sure you keep the communications encrypted and jammed - I don't want anyone knowing we're here before we have fired the first shot - it seems too quiet out there."

"Alert Alert" the satellites have picked up increase activity. "All of the fleet are called to action station - I want the anti missile systems active straight away and get all those bloody jets in the air." "Get the two Heavy Cruisers either side of us and the Battleship can lead - make sure he fires a warning shot and there Aircraft Carrier 300 Feet above their Bridge, at least everything was ready from that false alarm - keep the sub submerged and keep all the guns on the ready - its going to be a rough night."

It was a gross error in communication that brought about Sacheyenyani involvement that day. "Unit 1, respond."
"Unit 1, responding, presiding captain Matthew Doncer. How's she sounding up their, Diomassiotoko?" Came a crackle over the radio on the S.A.C. Peregrine. Yusep picked up the reciever, with a smile.
"Clear as a bell. No complications down below?"
"None immediately visible, sir. Permission to run weapons test requested."
"Denied, Unit 1. We can wait til we reach the Northern Straight for that." Unit 1 was the latest in Sacheyenyani naval technology. The Hammerhead, which was slower than it's predecessor, and actually manned, but packing a lot more weaponry. "Still..." Yusep began, pondering. "Contacting Shield-Ship Tide."
"S.S. Tide responding, presiding captain Janice Lewaer. What can I do for you, m'lord?" Came the response.
"I want you to activate the ARES and the ZEUS. We're going to be running a live-fire at the Straight, and I want everything warmed up and ready."
"Diomassiotoko, ca, diomassiotoko." There was a silence on the line. "ARES and ZEUS are online. ARES appears fully operational. We've got exact locations on Unit 1, the Peregrine, the Ahli, the Maria, the Haven, and..." Again, silence on the line.
"And, shavora?" Yusep leaned in close, raising an eyebrow at a nearby soldier.
"Ships of unidentified origin in the Northern Straight."
"You mean UFO's?"
"Diomassiotoko?"
"'Unidentified Floating Objects'?" Laughter broke out in the control center of the Peregrine, interrupted once more by the crackle of the radio.
"Not funny, first off. Second, the ZEUS is picking up projectiles in the air. Amount of ships and projectiles are as of yet unknown." Had the fighting begun? Yusep's fleet was supposed to be the first to arrive, and the others were not supposed to be firing on each other. Oh well, he thought. They're probably just getting in some practicing.
"Assume harpoon-gun formation, shield in front, us in back. Proceed with caution, and be ready for the sport. I do hope we aren't late..." Yusep ordered. The ships then got into a straight line, the AEGIS up front, followed by the cruiser, the destroyer, the battleship, and finally the aircraft carrier leading up the rear. Underneath the carrier, Unit 1 kept pace as the fleet headed along towards a great naval disaster that no one had been prepared for that day.

On the outskirts of the Strait, just over the horizon, approached the Man O' War, Elector-Margrave Folcwalding's personal pet project and the first of its kind in a new range of supercarrier, one that the Elector-Margrave would hope secure Aemen dominance over the ocean and elevate the kingdom's influence in the region. The HMRD Marksman and the HMRD Gaze trailed behind, letting the carrier take the lead as it lumbered towards the oncoming conflict.

Vice Admiral Hennrick van Goss was on the bridge of the Man O' War, surveying the scene in front of him.
“Continue on our present course, we're nearing the rendezvous point.” The Man O' War and its companions had been dispatched from Port Prince earlier that week for training exercises in unfamiliar waters, the Northern Strait had been cited as the perfect location for the operation to take place.

“Alright. Combat stations people, we're going into battle-ready mode.” The bridge was rife with activity, personnel rushed to their stations and gunners dashed to theirs on the carrier's deck whilst pilots began their routine checks. Captain Saul, the Man O' War's chief officer, took his place alongside van Goss, staring up at the Vice Admiral's intimidating frame.

“Sir, we're at full alert. All crew are at their positions. We're awaiting orders.” Saul stared ahead, glancing occasionally in van Goss's direction. The entire room stayed silent.

“Sir, if I may-” Saul was cut off by the Vice Admiral, who directed his attention to the radar and sonar operators. “Radar, report.”

The operators watched their screens. “No contact.”

Again, the Captain tried to speak his mind to the Admiral. “Sir, what exactly are we-”

“C-contact! Unidentified ships!” yelped one of the startled radar operators. Saul dashed to the radar, looking at the situation for himself, whilst the Vice Admiral continued to stare ahead, unfazed by the apparently unexpected complication. “How many groups?”

“Four. I'm picking up projectiles. Unlikely they're friendlies.” said the operator. Saul rejoined van Goss, a slight look of confusion furrowing his brow. “Sir, what's going on? There weren't supposed to be any navies in this area, least of all combat-ready ones.”

“The Elector-Margrave wanted an appropriate test for the Man O' War, Captain. That's what those ships are doing here; providing that test. Don't worry, there's a medal and my personal commendation for you and your men after this is over. Are the crews of the Sleight of Hand and the Hagfish ready?”

Saul's mood noticeably improved on the mention of medals. “Affirmative, sir. It's part of the drill that all docked submersibles are prepared.”

“Marvellous.” van Goss approached the bridge's microphone, setting the range to fleet-wide. “Attention all personnel, we have hostile ships directly ahead. Initiate Echelon formation. Crews of the Sleight of Hand and Hagfish, standby for deployment. All pilots, prepare for take-off. All ships report in.”

The Marksman sped ahead of the Man O' War, taking up a position ahead of the carrier on its left. “Marksman, standing by.”

The Gaze was next, following the Marksman and slowing down just behind it, putting itself between the Marksman and the Man O' War, creating a diagonal line between the Aemen ships. “Gaze, standing by.”

In the very bowels of the Man O' War, the Sleight of Hand and the Hagfish, two smaller than average submersibles, were armed and ready to be deployed from the ship's underbelly at a moment's notice.

“Sleight of Hand, standing by.”

“Hagfish, standing by.”

“Watch for enemy submersibles and aircraft, keep the charges and AA guns frosty. Enjoy the hunt.” The Vice Admiral sounded off as the fleet drifted cautiously towards the others, ready for the ensuing bloodbath.

The small Naval fleet of 6 units sailed into the Northern strait. Admiral stood on the deck of the 183 Destroyer. He surveyed the vast expanse of sea around him, dotted with occasional islands. Soon, this would all be Banitian territory. Another asset to the Empire. The Captain came up beside the Admiral looking angry.
"Sir, how do you expect to take over the Northern Strait in such small numbers? You have the whole fleet at your service, and yet you send us out with 4 ships ,30 Aircraft and a sub! The Carrier is half empty, and the men are asking questions."

The Admiral waited for a long time before answering. " You know full and well that the better part of the navy are containing the rebels in the East, and besides, other than the occasional ship, Does it look like any nation actually resides here? Does it look like we need a whole fleet to take over the strait?"
Both men just looked out at the strait for a while. The captain finally said "The reason I came up here was to inform you that armed ships have been reported in the strait, there nationality and intentions remain unclear."

The Admiral gave his orders. Send 3 surveillance aircraft out, and tell them to learn as much of strait and any ships residing in it as possible. And Captain..."

"Yes?"

"Did you say the ships are armed?"

"Yes sir" replied the Captain

"Then tell them to remain out of regular firing range as much as possible. Lie low for now, the last thing we want is a full fleet against us lead by an unknown enemy. I want the Radar and Sonar on and monitored at all times. Nothing moves in these waters without my knowing."

The Captain disappeared below deck to relay the orders. The Admiral looked out to sea. Had he made a mistake in bringing such a small force? Was he leading them all to there death?

A crew member rushed up to the admiral, "News sir! There are several squads of ships in the area, all battle ready, and by the looks of it, there about to engage!"

"Are you sure there ready to engage?"

"At this point sir, its not clear, but they are all in formation, so its almost certain."

The admiral walked bristly to the Bridge and announced, "To Arms!" The 183 Destroyer will lead, followed by the 2 Light cruisers and 721 Battle cruiser flanking it, The carrier will be in the back. I want every vessel here armed and standing by, and every aircraft we've got in the air."

The admiral left the bridge, which was bustling with energy and entered the navigation room. It was clear now, there were defiantly foreign vessels in the area. He waited, curiosity and tension filing his mind.

"Diomassiotoko, we have a report."
"All ears, Tide."
"We have four fleets in the area, of unknown size, with another fleet approaching the area, again, size unknown. That's what the ARES is telling me. The ZEUS is telling me that there are currently things airborn. It is unknown at this time whether or not they are projectiles or aircraft."
"Repeat that for me please, how many fleets?"
"Soon to be five, sir." Another dense silence hung in the air on the Peregrine. "Is something wrong, Diomassiotoko?"
"Very much so. We were expecting half a fleet, not all of five." Yusep grunted. "Tide, we're going to try and get a little closer to see if we can get definite numbers. We are right behind you, proceed slowly and cautiously. Radio operator, prepare a telegram. Activate the AA, and get the birds ready."

The fleet pulled nearer and nearer to the action, losing speed as it did so. The order did not change much, though Unit 1 advanced further until it was under the cruiser in an attempt to see things better. AA guns came to life on each ship, ready for the worst as all hands rushed to their positions. The engines on VTOLs hummed to life, as they too prepared to receive further instruction.

"Did I just hear the big gun of some battleship fire off?" Radetsky asked. "Yeah, sir, we are confirming with all our other vessels." The captain of the battlecruiser Admiral D. Camargue replied.

Radestky took a deep breath. Pausing for a while, he poised himself up, and began barking orders. "Check around for a vantage point that has at least 3 suitable exit routes out of these islands, with waters deep enough. Get the submarines ready for combat in open waters, I am not fighting in these shallow waters near any island. Load up the shells. Activate every single CIWS we have and make sure the ATLAS (Anti-Tactical/Long-range Assault System), prepare to obliterate every single projectile coming our way. How far are we from firing range?"

The captain swiftly replied to Radetsky's no-nonsense talk, "12 knots. For random barrage. Another 30 knots and any enemy hostilities will be sinking already."

Radetsky was sort of displeased at that news, "Draw them in. We make ourselves look like sitting ducks. Acquire as many targets on radar first but do not take action. Tell the Lunette to get Combat Air Patrol of our excellent JD-13 Interceptors in the air. Stick to the defensive. I didn't sign up for something like that, but at least I'm doing my job - fighting a battle."

Upon hearing news of a warning from another fleet, Radetsky replied to his men, "So, some Admiral Yusep of the Sacheyanyani Holy Navy is going to pop out of nowhere and attack us. Well, he obviously picked the wrong fight with the wrong admiral. I'm going to make sure his navy is 'hole-y'. Lock on main guns. Await orders."

Every single defensive system suddenly came to life, each and every system elevating and rotating its platform to optimum position for firing. On the Admiral D. Camargue, the huge 18-inch guns started it rotation to its first target. But nothing would be fired out yet.
