The Rostrogian task force dubbed as TF3 sailed into the Strait of the Northern Sea with ease. All six ships were at normal readiness and were scanning the area with only two F-18 fighter jets on patrol and one AWAC stretching the radar sights of TF3. Admiral Leon Gent stood on the bridge of the flagship, the battleship HRMS Sea Serpent. He looked to Captain William Howerson, second in command of the Sea Serpent and smiled.

"This should be a normal walk of the mill patrol in this sector, not to much to ask for. Then we get to head back home" Cpt. Howerson chuckled a little bit at the Admirals remark and responded in his normal sarcastic tone.

"Oh but sir, what about the enemy who are over the horizon ready to strike at our beloved nation. We the Rostrogs first defense" Howerson chuckled some more but Admiral Gent just shook his head.

"Captain, we should always be prepared for everything and anything. We never know what is out there, it is the ocean, one of the last frontiers on this planet. Better remember that Captain otherwise you will end up dead and swimming with the fish and sharks." Admiral Gent looked sternly in Captain Howersons' face for a moment then laughed.

"Sir you should not do that, you scared me for a second" The two men laughed as the small task force sailed around the ocean on its normal patrol deployment of a year. The men and women of TF3 would soon find out that they were not going to be just on a normal patrol, they were smack in the middle of a combat zone that would soon see some of the regions navies come toe to toe for control of the Strait of the Northern Sea.

"Sir, I have both good and bad news. Good news is, something popped up on sonar. Bad news is, our sonar is too sensitive, so... we could possibly be picking up some pieces of wreckage or, it could be another submarine. And part two of the bad news is that it just disappeared... AND EIGHT OTHER BLIPS HAVE TAKEN ITS PLACE." Said one of the senior officers on the bridge.

Radetsky lifted and eyebrow, then pressed the intercom button and spoke clearly, "Set ATLAS to manual targeting, identify every single torpedo, hold on," he paused, turned to the officer and mouthed the word "torpedo". The officer nodded furiously. Radetsky continued, "and when ATLAS gets a lock on the target you just let the system work its wonders."

Radetsky was confident that the eight torpedoes weren't going to do any harm this time round. On automation, the ATLAS relied solely on its sensors, but in such a manual setting, the ATLAS would have already picked up its targets; all it needed was to blast the projectile either out of the sky or out of the water.

This time, the captain spoke up, "Then what about the submarine? I know that the torpedoes are going for ships that are armoured enough to take a few blows from a torpedo in the same spot, but I don't want my ship getting blasted at while I sit here and wait."

"Good point, captain. Get the entire fleet closer to those islands. It'll be deep enough for us, but definitely not deep enough for a submarine to get close. However, the two submarines will have to stay afloat as sitting ducks in the deeper waters here. If the enemy wants to strike them, let them, because the anti-ship and anti-air missile batteries on the submarines are all loaded full, so if they get attacked from the surface they can fend for themselves. Plus we'll be in range of protecting them with more missiles and 18-inch shells." Radetsky just casually answered the captain. He wasn't worried, just annoyed at being unable to find the submarine which would soon run out of torpedoes if it kept firing bluntly at ships on high alert.

Of course, at this point, two sets of ATLAS on the port sides of Broadsword and Blade began their precision fire into the sea. The first few seconds didn't seem to work, but within the next 10 seconds explosion after explosion displaced 8 stunning jets of seawater, spraying onto the deck of the Broadsword. Meanwhile, the 4 vessels began the maneuver to shallower waters.

Though the sun had set, there seemed to be no relief from the fighting and the tension. "Um, yeah. Ooooh, they have that here?" Well, unless you were aboard the Peregrine. Then, there was a little lax in the tension. "Oh, okay, alright." Yusep cupped a hand to the radio as he lowered it from his mouth. "Alright, now, if I get the chicken fettuccine al fredo, who else is going to have some? I don't want the cook to whip some up if I'm going to be the only one." The Peregrine was the first ship to 'mid-battle break', a tactic used by Sacheyenyanis to restore morale. One ship would go on a break, to eat and take care of other necessities, while the others heightened their defenses in compensation. Once one was done, it would cycle through the entire fleet.
As dinner was being served around the ship, Yusep monitored the situation carefully. There was nothing that immediately drew his attention away from his meal, but he still wanted to be certain. He picked up the radio, chasing a mouthful with brandy. "This is your captain, speaking. All members aboard the Peregrine, once done with dinner, may begin prayer if necessary. We will be taking 20 more minutes. Once this is done, all hands must return to stations. Priests, light the sacrifice. That is all." It was only a few minutes before the sweet scent of incense began to waft through the air.
Chanting and singing arose from the decks of the Peregrine. Any nearby ships would be able to hear it. A great brazier was lit, with all manners of herbs and incense burning within. Some prayed at the brazier, others in their quarters, and some not at all. But all joined the singing. Eventually, a few slabs of meat were tossed into the Brazier as well. Yusep wandered briefly out onto the deck, dumping what was left of the bottle of brandy into the ocean. With a 'hail the seas', he looked up and out, over the water. He could vaguely make out the sight of enemy ships, and the battle going on.
"You, go up to the radio room. Tell the Maria its her turn for a break. Keep an eye on those ships, though. Make sure they don't get to close." He motioned to a nearby soldier. They exchanged a salute, and parted ways: the sailor towards the radio room, and Yusep towards the brazier.

The Reaper's Sow dived deeper and deeper into the black waters of the Northern Sea. They would give the I.R.U a breathing chance before lighting them up. The reports of the skirmish were being fed to Admiral Gent who gave the order to fire on the stranded submarines. Almost on cue two ballistic missiles blasted from the water. These missiles are of the same model as the missile shot at Poretos. They arched into the air quickly, then as they leveled out they bolted towards the two stranded I.R.U subs. While in flight radar jamming was activated as the smart missiles counted any radar guided defense systems. This was a sure fire way of ensuring maximum damage while denying the enemy the right to fight back. 200 meters out before contact the larger missiles broke apart and five individual hull piercing missiles began speeding to their targets. Now ten smaller missiles were flying through the air.

The Shameful Poretos
The Obscenely Dishonoured Exile

(The sun is begining to set just as the Admiral has been looking over his fleet as they prepare to leave the cave they have been using as a base to monitor the situation following the Emperor's Personal Orders)

"You asked for your pre-embarkation whiskey" stated the Imperial Lt. Keras to Imperial Fleet Admiral George whilst handing him the aforementioned drink.
"Have the final commands been accepted by Naval Intelligence?" asked F.Adm George
"Signed by the Emperor himself sir," responded Lt.Keras
"This is very odd, the Emperor only ever signed by appointment as Fleet Admiral, this must be important - however his plans are very desirable if a bit odd" replied F.Adm George
(A few shouts are heard along the fleet)
"The last plane in ready Admiral, it looks like we can begin this confrontation..." said Lt.Keras mildly.
"This is what we have been waiting for, we all disembark in 10 minutes, to leave the Cave within 20 minutes then we launch for the 12 hour attack throughout the cover of darkness" stated Fl.Admiral George returning to his usual air of authority.
"The Naval Intelligence are asking for a final check that you understand the commands sir" stated an unnamed ranked officer.
(The Admiral picks up the secured encrypted line that he knows cannot be hacked without the 3 pass codes and a systems key that constantly changes)
"Imperial Fleet Admiral James George, incumbent Fleet Admiral of His Imperial Majesty's First Imperial Fleet - Security Clearance Omega - Security Code Charlie Juliet Niner Yanky India Zero - Over" stated the Fleet Admiral whilst in his secured chambers
"Identity Confirmed," the phone replied blankly, "please repeat your 24 hour command instructions as ordered by Emperor Edmund Poretos Admiral."
"We are to leave the cave as soon as darkness shrouds the fleet and we have activated the Radar Jammer which will mean we remain secure, all transmissions will remain on the highest security setting, throughout the night we will attack with rocket barrages, not specifically aimed at the vessels however technology will be aimed at from 02:30 onwards for 30 minutes and then normal barrage shall continue so that they cannot get any sleep and so they remain in fear of the unknown, then at 05:00 whilst they are all tired and still unaware of what is happening we use our heaviest bombs and bombers with an array of Torpedos to damage any systems we can, then during the final half an hour of darkness we return to this unmapped Cave maintain full security so that we cant be recognised by any international or national technological system and repair any damage and re-arm- however little damage is expected. When morning rises all they will see on their radar - even though most of it will have been destroyed by then - is each other, and as they will not know who did the attack, and that we are here and will begin attacking each other - that is why we are known as the Fleet of Darkness." stated the Admiral which had been calmly rehearsed before.
"The Emperor and Naval Intelligence and Command hereby grants you your final operational orders, the operation is go." stated the phone as it deactivated itself.
"Captain get us going!" Shouted the Admiral.

[For the next twelve hours you are each under extremely heavy rocket fire from an un-detectable source, many of you will suffer extreme damage (I did give you 10 days) - Good Luck]

Had the Poretoan fleet waited but five more minutes before their assault began, the Sacheyenyani fleet would not have survived the assault. The AEGIS was not on break, however, and now, they could demonstrate their trick. Several turret-like structures came to life on the deck of the Tide, and directed towards the incoming rocket fire. What Poretos failed to count on was that the ZEUS and ARES relied on Sonar, and not radar. "Projectiles incoming, diomassiotoko. Permission to unleash?" The captain of the Tide spoke swiftly into the radio.

"The thunderbolt of Zeus shall ward all evil. Permission granted." Yusep said in an almost prayer like manner. The ZEUS was still an experimental technology, but it had performed well so far in most uses. With a press of a button, the turrets were given free fire, but not to expel bullets. Something much easier: UV light was fired from several tips on each turret, straight into the heads of the rockets.

Rockets exploded in mid-air, some distance from the fleet, making it seem as though they were being staved off by an unseen force.
Of course, this system couldn't hold forever, and some rockets would eventually break through the grid. Yusep simply hoped the barrage would stop before then. The oddest part to him is that no one seemed to be able to identify where the rockets were coming from. He ordered all his ships to move back, further from the firing and behind the Tide, so they would be better protected. Before it could reach the safety of the Tide, however, the Haven was struck by rocket fire. It would live, however it did sustain a good deal of damage. No matter what, though, they would maintain a defensive stance for the time being.

As the sun set, the attack on the Banitian fleet became more and more intense and ruthless as van Goss kept a continuous attack going, rotating torpedo bomber squadrons as they dropped their payloads and returned to replenish them. By nightfall, there was nothing left of the Banitians.

“Sir, Sea Lion Squadron just rang in. Enemy fleet has been destroyed. We have minimal casualties.”
“Excellent. Order all airborne units to return to the Man O' War for rearmament. We're not finished here. Get me an update on the Sleight of Hand as well.”
“Sleight of Hand, come in Sleight of Hand, what is the condition of your repairs, over.”
The radio crackled with several loud bursts of static and the submarine commander's voice crawled through. This time it sounded better, it was more detailed and clearer than before.
“Man O' War, this is Sleight of Hand, our repairs are still ongoing, but we're combat-ready. Awaiting your orders bridge, over.”

Van Goss mulled over his next orders, looking out into the blackness of the night whilst Captain Saul approached him.
“I'd suggest the Sacheyenyani fleet next. We're in striking distance and the air squadrons can be rearmed and in the air in the next hour.”
Van Goss hummed to himself, thinking over his options. “I'd prefer not to engage the 'Grand High Admiral' at this stage. The fact that they watched us destroy the Banitians and resist engagement at such an opportune moment is rather... encouraging. It means Yusep is patient, and patient men are always brilliant men and brilliant men are always a challenge. I'd much rather we-”
Van Goss, at first much to his own annoyance, was interrupted by one of the operators on the bridge.
“Sir! We've got incoming missiles! They're headed for... for... every ship, sir! And they keep coming!”

Van Goss and Saul watched from the bridge as the first few missiles headed for the Man O' War were intercepted and destroyed by the carrier's defensive systems. The Man O' War's most precious parts were its runway and its submersible pens, one of those was already unusable and if the other went then the Man O' War was nothing more than a huge lumbering piece of metal, dead in the ocean. Thankfully, the Elector-Margrave saw this in his designs of the carrier and littered the rim of the carrier's airstrip with an enormous abundance of anti-missile and anti-aircraft emplacements. The other ships, however...

“This is the Marksman! Our defences can't hold! We're being *static*-lverised! We need supp-*static*”
“Get the Gaze to support the Marksman now! Group the entire fleet together!” Van Goss hurried to the radar whilst Saul continued to stare out of the window. It was the first time the Vice Admiral had to exert himself fully since the conflict began.

The Gaze raced towards the Marksman whilst the Man O' War followed, unable to keep up with the smaller ship. Part of the Marksman's deck was on fire as the Gaze neared it and, together, under a barrage of missiles, the two ships stayed put as the protection of the Man O' War inched toward them. It was agonisingly slow, but it was getting closer.

By dawn, the Aemen fleet had just held it together. If it wasn't for Elector-Margrave Folcwalding's obsessive desire to stuff as much firepower as he could into his new toy, the outcome might have been very different indeed. The Gaze and the Marksman huddled close to the Man O' War's hull, like frightened children hiding in the shadow of their parent. This wasn't the image Vice Admiral van Goss had predicted when he was selected to lead the exercise.

The Marksman's fire had been extinguished, though the deck was charred and the ship itself suffered, it was still battle-ready. The Gaze was another story; in its race to support the Marksman, an enemy missile had slipped through its defences and exploded against the Gaze's hull. Though she was still operational, if she took too much more damage on it would be the start of a new life at the bottom of the ocean as a habitat for the Northern Sea's marine wildlife. The Man O' War survived virtually unscathed. But the sound of hammering and drilling ran emanated from the Marksman and the Gaze; repairs were underway, the crew reinforcing the wounds the ships had suffered as best they could, whilst van Goss set his sights on his new targets.

“Hagfish, Sleight of Hand, this is the Vice Admiral. I want you to scout the enemy fleets whilst repairs are carried out. Do not engage unless it is in retaliation or you are ordered to do so. Get some birds in the air, we'll need some eyes in the sky whilst the submersibles are away.”
The Hagfish and the Sleight of Hand moved away from the rest of the Aemen fleet as a squadron of fighters lifted off from the Man O' War's runway, their first choice of reconnaissance? The Imperial Royal Union.

"Christ alive..." Yusep chuckled as he looked out the window of the Peregrine. It was almost like watching fireworks over the Tide. He might do that later, hold a fireworks display. The Maria was carrying fireworks, he remembered, for the purpose of warding off malicious spirits after the fight. It seemed the ZEUS had done an excellent job at that before the battle could even end. He had also been watching the Aemen fleet, specifically the Man O' War. He admired it, and almost regretted his need to sink it.

One thing he didn't admire about the Man O' War was that it lacked the technology of the Sacheyenyani fleet: the only thing that currently gave Yusep the upper hand. He was dreadfully unprepared for such a battle, as he was outnumbered by Sacheyenyani standards. His fleet was usually at least three times this size, and most of his known tactics relied on that. As long as the AEGIS was afloat, however, he believed he could still sustain. The ZEUS was still at 90% charge, compared to all those rockets the Man O' War lost.

"Damage report: Peregrine unscathed." He said into the radio, holding it gently in his hands as he watched out the window.
"Damage report: Tide was hit twice during the bombardment. Glancing blows, though. They look worse than they are. We've got crew on their way down to patch it up now."
"Damage report: Ahli unscathed."
"Damage report: Maria unscathed."
"Damage report: Unit 1 unscathed."
"Damage rep-..." There was a silence. Yusep's heart sank as he looked down at the radio, then out the window frantically. "Damage report: Haven got hit hard, diomassiotoko. Three glancing hits, and one good one right on deck. Two guns disabled, six operational. We've dispatched to see what we can do about it." Yusep cursed in his native tongue, attracting the attention of those around him.

"Sir, this is the Tide reporting again... No sign of whoever opened fire." Yusep looked down at the radio, as if in disbelief. He enjoyed naval hunts. They were almost his passtime. But right now it was a nuisance.
"Everybody, stick close to the Tide. Keep your eyes and ears open. Tide, keep looking. We're going to need to open fire, soon, unless we want everyone to start thinking we are pushovers, and whoever hit my Haven is going to hear it from me personally." He put the radio down, before pressing the button on the intercom.

"Peregrine, this is your captain speaking. I want all aviators in their birds and ready to get bloody at a moments notice." He removed his finger, before quickly placing it down again. "Thank you. Blessings." He removed it again, and his orders were carried out. The engines on each VTOL were started, and prepared to take off. The fleet moved towards where they suspected the rockets to be coming from, with each ship sticking close to the Tide, with Unite 1 always trailing underneath. The ARES was on full capacity, searching for the unknown enemy, and keeping all the known enemies in range.

"Flag Admiral, bad news, the Unholy and the Death are now sinking. They've been struck by missiles. Must be from the submarine again. They managed to let out 2 torpedoes within the direction of where the missile came from. Good news is, we can't get attacked by anymore submarines. We are so damn close to shore that the submarines need to surface to avoid scraping their hull against the seabed if they want to be unseen by us. We'll take out any missiles too easily." The captain of the Admiral D. Camargue reported to Radetsky.

Before Radetsky could reply, the radar officer barged into the bridge and called out, "Incoming missiles, more likely rockets, headin for our fleet. It's an entire barrage."

Radetsky's face was a look of neutrality. Obviously he was unimpressed. He waved off the officer, and took a seat and began drinking his coffee. His only comment was, "Just let the CIWS do its job. And ATLAS will do a clean job too."

Outside the explosions sort of annoyed Radetsky. He inserted a CD into the audio system on the bridge and began blasting heavy metal music. The rockets were rather ineffective, however, one rocket actually managed to knock one aircraft out of the sky, but the rest of the surviving fleet was unharmed.

Radetsky's reply to any question about their offensive was simply, "Conserve ammunition for a clean decisive strike. We have more defensive ammunition than those for the offensive, so we defend until there's nothing left for us to use to defend.

“Vice Admiral, this is Sleight of Hand. The enemy fleet is too close to the island's shoreline. If we get in any closer we'll have to surface.”
“They're using the shallowness as a means of neutralising our submerged advantage, that's no way for a navy to fight. Pull away, towards...”
Van Goss's eyes rested on Yusep's fleet.
“...towards the Sacheyenyani. We'll have to deal with the others later.”
“Sir, they're in a defensive position, if we attack now we'll-”
The Vice Admiral cut the Sleight of Hand off, clearly now more determined to end this standoff after the missile attack. “I'm tired of defensive positions, commander. If we sit here any longer we risk drawing this battle out to the point that we may as well just retreat. We're not sailing back to Port Prince after this, we're going back to Sarston...”
Van Goss let it sink into the crew of each vessel that they were not heading for mainland Aemen, but instead straight back to Elector-Margrave Folcwalding's islands.
“...and I will not be the one to tell the Elector-Margrave that we were unable to test the Man O' War's full capabilities because we were forced to retreat... by an enemy that didn't even attack!”
Van Goss wasn't trying to frighten his personnel, far from it. In the Aemen military, to accept disappointment from a superior officer, especially, in the Elector-Margrave's case, when that officer is related to the King, is a career killer, an acknowledgement of how unambitious you are, and if there was one thing every man under van Goss's command was, it was hungry for recognition.

The Hagfish and the Sleight of Hand pulled away from the IRU fleet and sped towards the Sacheyenyani.
“Mobilise four bomber groups and fighter escorts. Precision-guided munitions with reinforced points: The Tip-Tops. Simply exploding on the hulls isn't enough; I want to see gaping holes in the bodies of the Grand High Admiral's ships.”
Tip-Tops were Ridley Folcwalding's final experiment and the only payload in existence was on the Man O' War and being armed to van Goss's F-35s. Their points were particularly sharp, designed not just to help balance the missile from its bulky body but to also penetrate the hulls of enemy ships, passing straight through and exploding once on the other side.
“What is the status of the Marksman and the Gaze?”
“They've done all they can sir. We won't be able to fully repair them until we dock at Sarston. They won't last long in a prolonged fight”
“Have them stay behind the submarines and keep the Man O' War behind both groups, we don't want to attract too many missiles.”

With the sounds of jet engines whirring off of the deck of the Man O' War and into organised squadrons in the sky, van Goss broadcasted a fleet-wide message.
“Soldiers, men of the King, you probably know now why we are really here...”
Beneath the waves, the Sleight of Hand and the Hagfish approached the Sacheyenyani fleet, selecting out their targets from the group.
“...we are here to test the capabilities of the Man O' War. Elector-Margrave Ridley Folcwalding has entrusted you, each of you, with responsibilities he believed you worthy of holding. Are you going to fail the Elector-Margrave? Are you going to fail His Majesty King Reginald?”
The Marksman and the Gaze moved up behind the hidden submarines, side-by-side, as the groups of bombers passed overhead.
“No, you are not! Like our ancestors before us, we will rise! We will stand victorious over the sinking bodies of our adversaries and smile with pride, knowing that they, all along, were inferior to the might of Aemen!”
The bridge of the Man O' War erupted in cheers as the carrier stopped in the water behind the ships and submarines. The squadrons in the air nearing their targets.

“Sir, the Tip-Tops...” van Goss turned to Saul, who, although he was beaming with national pride, there was a slight look of worry in his eyes.
“Sir, there's a chance some may not work. This is the first time they've ever been tested in combat, it's unlikely the entire payload will perform effectively.”
“I would chuck stones at the Sacheyenyani and the other fleet if it meant some degree of damage was done to them, captain. Whoever wins this battle, whether it be us, Yusep, or that fleet hiding in the shallows, we Aemen will leave our mark here in the Northern Sea. I'll ensure it.”

The bombers began to lower their altitude as they passed over the Sacheyenyani fleet.
“Man O' War, this is Sea Lion Squadron. We're in position.”
“Meridian Squadron, standing by.”
“Tornado Squadron, standing by.”
“Imperial Squadron, standing by.”
Trying to get as close as possible for their experimental explosives' maximum effect, the squadrons screamed towards their targets; two broke off, attacking the Maria, another squadron went for the Ahli, and the last squadron sought to take advantage of the Haven's damaged condition, unleashing the Tip-Tops on the Sacheyenyani ships.

The ZEUS detected the bombers during their descent, and all hands were ready for the firefight. The Peregrine, specifically, was ready for this fight. The VTOL aircrafts carried by the Peregrine were remarkable machines: all the speed of jets, with the mid-air maneuverability of a helicopter. While the VTOL itself was something tested well by the Sacheyenyani army, the Drake was a very new class of fighter for them, and had not yet been tested in combat. Experimental craft would face experimental craft.

As every alarm blared, the crews were frantic. All AA guns sent flak in the direction of the enemy planes, and the sound of war chants could be heard by nearby fleets. The ZEUS was also set to 'destroy', in the hopes it would also work on bombs already descending, though this had never before been attempted. In seconds, 22 VTOL fighters were in the air and on the way to intercept enemy bombers, though they would no doubt be able to drop a few bombs before their arrival.

They approached in what was known as 'swarm formation'. No rhyme or reason, making their dips and dives completely sporadic and the planes themselves much harder to track, they attempted to form a protective net around the ships. No matter the results of this battle, it it was well known that many would die. And this is the attitude every soldier in Sacheyenya held: if you expect death in battle, you shall live, but expecting life is simply throwing it away.

And this floated through Yusep's mind as he winced, saluting the ill-fated Haven. He hadn't the heart to radio the captain. After an assault like that, he knew it was a damn miracle it was still afloat, and he wasn't even sure how much longer it could remain afloat. Instead, he ordered retaliation.

As the main fleet worked on fighting off the Aemen assault, 8 Valkyrie class VTOL bombers made their way towards the opposing fleet. They waited until they were withing minimal firing distance before attempting to sweep the decks and guns with their turrets. They would wait to drop their bombs until they made it above the decks. The Valkyrie was tried and true, and Yusep knew of it's efficiency. He simply hoped they could pull through for him in this situation. All the while, Unit 1 still sat silent beneath the waves. It had AA technology, but to reveal itself now would alert its position to any submersibles in the vicinity, and that would be suicide.

"Sir, you have an urgent message from Strategic Command."

Radetsky decrypted the message. It read, "Take immediate action within the next 48 hours. Make your decisive call. We need some results." As he read the message, Radetsky took a few glimpses of the radar screen. His eyes were rather focused, and then he asked his "million dollar question". "Are those multiple blips sign of one fleet or two fleets?"

Before anyone could answer, Radetsky made his guess. It could be two fleets in combat against each other, or it could one mega fleet. "Captain, take the Admiral D. Camargue out with the support of the two missile cruisers. Keep us within range of Combat Air Patrol. We'll move to deeper waters and begin our first attack. Make sure we get the enemy within range of our big guns."

The flagship began its maneuver to deeper waters, followed by two missile cruisers. Above them, interceptors were securing the airspace above them to prevent any bombers from coming through.

"Sir, incoming planes." The radio officer replied almost instantaneously after they began their departure towards deeper waters, closer to the combat zone. "I want the Blade and the Broadsword to fire their long range missiles now. If they scatter, tell Combat Air Patrol to take them out. If they stay within formation we'll just blast them with more surface to air missiles. Oh, and tell the missile officer of the Broadsword that the new missiles I requested to be loaded at port are the newer heatseeking missiles. They won't lock onto any target, they'll just follow any target it picks up after launch, so no missile lock is required. And it works against group of attacking aircraft especially if they don't scatter."

The ominous sound of the movement of the missile batteries on the Blade and Broadsword was a rather eerie silence that swept through the decks of the cruisers. Radetsky watched carefully and gave the order to fire the long range surface to air missiles. At the same time, he had exercised his utmost caution with submarines. He had already lost two submarines to one submarine, and he had prepared the depth charges on the Admiral D. Camargue. It was amazing how the big ships of the Greater Imperial Navy was armed with practically everything. He wasn't the least bit worried for his flagship. But rather, he was more worried for the weaker missile cruisers. But then again, he thought to himself, ATLAS had proved itself as a capable defense systems against targets coming from the all directions except from above...

“Vice Admiral, Tip-Tops are away.” was the message that rung through the Man O' War bridge. The bombers' fighter escorts engaged the VTOL defenders of the Sacheyenyani ships in a flying frenzy, trying to make some sense of their completely erratic moves. The Aemen fighters stayed close to the bombers, careful not to let their chances of victory be snatched away by opportunistic enemy pilots. Despite their efforts, bombers from every squadron suffered heavy damage. Some exploded on the spot whilst others, unable to carry on, dived downwards and crashed into the sea after launching their payload. The Tip-Tops that were launched sped towards their targets, their pointed ends starving for destruction.

“This is Tornado Squadron, all Tip-Tops have been launched though most of our bombers have been destroyed. Fighters are engaging enemy aircraft.”
“This is Meridian Squadron, situation is critical. We've lost all our bombers and our fighters are dropping like flies.”
“Imperial Squadron reporting in. Bombers have launched Tip-Tops and are attempting to make it back to base, chances of us all making it back in one piece are slim.”
“Sea Lion Squadron here. We're engaging enemy aircraft, bombers have delivered their payloads and are en route home. Fighter escorts are staying behind to provide cover.”

The Sleight of Hand moved forward, wary of the fighting going on above the waves and slithered towards its prey; the Peregrine. The Hagfish held back, staying out of range from the fighting and circled around it, watching the area for any potential enemy submersibles. The Gaze advanced slowly, positioning itself behind the submarines and launched several missiles at the varying Sacheyenyani ships it was in range of, attempting to draw their attention. The Marksman sat still, awaiting to assist the Gaze with any ships that it provoked.

“We've got eight high-level enemy bombers approaching the fleet sir. Orders?”
Van Goss ran a hand through his hair, calculating his next move. “Total number of aircraft left onboard?”
“Five fighters, sir, but at the rate those bombers are approaching we won't have time to deploy them all. We will be able to launch two at most.”
“Do it. Order what remains of Meridian Squadron to defend the fleet.”

Bullets from the approaching VTOLs ricocheted off of the deck of the Man O' War, the gunners on the ship's abundant turrets ducked down behind their equipment to avoid the firing whilst some crewmen were wounded getting the two fighters prepared for launch. As the two F-35s sped off of the runway, a little worse for wear since they were taking off under a rain of bullets, the gunners returned to their positions and fired their guns in the direction of the VTOL bombers.

The last four fighters of Meridian Squadron pulled away from the major dogfight and began speeding towards the enemy bombers that threatened the fleet.
“Bridge, this is Meridian Squadron, we have the targets in our sight and we're-”
The squad leader was cut off as the four fighters came under attack from surface-to-air missiles from the IRU ships, losing one of their fighters and breaking formation to avoid more missiles.
“Mayday! Mayday! We're being attacked by third party ballistics!”

Van Goss rubbed his cheek, trying to figure out how to handle both enemies at once.
“Keep the Marksman and the Gaze ready to intercept, get the Hagfish to reposition so it's closer to the other fleet, and tell them to pick out a target. Sleight of Hand, stay on course and ready those torpedoes. I want to witness the Northern Sea swallow that carrier's carcass in the next few hours.”

Grand Chieftain Tal'eu
His Imperial Majesty's Loyal Squire
To die with the blood of the enemy on their hands was the goal of the Sacheyenyani warrior, and the method by which they attained this was almost saddening. When a plane was damaged to the extent that crashing was imminent, but they could still maintain control of the plane, their initiated a nose dive straight for enemy ships or planes, hoping to take them down with them in a kamikaze type move. They'd be recognized as heroes at home.

Yusep watched with pride as enemy planes were dropped from the sky. He'd almost call for a toast, if they weren't in the midst of an excalating battle. Instead, he placed one hand on the shoulder of a nearby sailor, and braced for impact. The effect of the Tip-Tops truly was devastating, and it would have been a lie for Yusep to say he was not impressed. With the latest round of Tip-Tops, it officially became practical suicide to remain on the Haven, and the Maria was taking on water. They were afloat, and, thanks to a swift response time, would remain afloat, as long as it sustained no more damage. All guns were operational, but it certainly wouldn't be speeding off anywhere any time soon. And that's when Yusep noticed the missiles.

The ZEUS ensured that every plane near the Tide were safe from themSacheyenyani or Aemen. The crew speeding towards the Aemen ships were not so lucky, as two Valkyries were blasted to pieces before they even realized what was happening. The mindset switched from assault to life saving. Each of the remaining six launched a single missile into the water, which swiftly began speeding towards the Aemen fleet, before pulling up sharply and initiating evasive maneuvers as they retreated back to the safety of the Tide. They were not meant to hit, but merely to distract.

Yusep, in the meantime, had his eyes momentarily taken away from the dogfight above. "Diomassiotoko, the enemy fleets are drawing nearer. We don't suspect we are in range, but they are in range of the ARES. Shall we initiate fire?"
"Initiate Dirty Trick Number 1. This is getting good." The ARES was a bold machine, using sonar to determine the size and location of every ship in the Sea, it eliminated the need for radar ships, and made the Tide deadly accurate at further ranges. All guns clicked into place, before launching a powerful barrage out towards the Aemen fleet, specifically those drawing closer to the Peregrine. This would hopefully take them off guard, while also doing a bit of needed damage.
