This might be the kind of place that cares about this sort of weird, gaming, esoterica, so here's a post on my N64 WideBoy, on news of the Famicom WideBoy going for $1500 on eBay. |

(spit take) What's with all these crazy prices on obscure video games? Air Raid is edging $14K RIGHT NOW, and Yahoo expects that number to crest at $18K by the time the auction ends. It's nuts. |

I think what's happening is that word of all these rare games fetching insane prices is getting out and people are digging around their collections for this stuff and throwing them on eBay which fuels the fire. Now, as far as WHO is paying these prices, I have no idea since it all strikes me as a bit surreal. |

I want just about everything "gameboy". But that obviously doesn't mean that I'll get it. In practice, Super Gameboy, Gameboy Player and emulators suit me just fine. I can't imagine spending so extravagantly with so many other options. I do REALLY want a Gameboy Light though. Hmm, it might be cool to mod a GB Pocket with a custom backlit color instead. |

I'm thinking of doing that myself. There was a guy who did pretty much what you described, using tri-colored LEDs on a standard GameBoy for a rainbow of different backlight colors. A switch at the top of the system let him choose everything from GameBoy green to hot pink. I'm sure he could have inserted a logic circuit to produce a dazzling strobe light effect, but I don't think anyone would want to feel like they were playing their 1980s GameBoy in a 1970s disco... |

Sorry, meant to say that the idea came from one of your posts when talking about your Lynx mod. Sounds great though. Of course, I can't think of a better color than blue anyways. But that would breathe new life into one of my spare pockets. I'm sure some people would think a rainbow strobe effect would be awesome (if excessive). I can't imagine the headaches and seizures that would ensue. I've also heard of someone doing a Virtual boy mod (I think on racketboy) with a more tolerable color than anyurism red (yes, I spelled that wrong). |
