I worked on a new Studio XPS 9100 today and this is sweet,
I7-980X CPU 3.33GHz 12MB level 3 cache
24GB of RAM
BLURAY burner
DVD burner
4TB of HDD space
Radeon 5970 video card
and USB 3.0.
too much to include, that was the highlights. She said she is using this for genealogy?? Well she wont be wanting for power.

My GOD. Twenty four GIGS of RAM? Seriously?! When she said she was using it for genealogy, she must have meant "cracking the gene code."

By the way, I want that chip, but I don't have the money to spare for it. Let me find some work first.

Damn!... My PC doesn't even have a DVD burner (but reads DVDs thank goodness).

Hmm, I think that computer is like 20 times faster than mine (and way overkill if it's just used for geneology; almost a shame actually). At least it'll be a while before it's outdated.

I'm still gonna' squeeze another few years out of mine though.

Thats why i upgraded my CPU when i had a chance to get it cheap, my system is maxed out. Biggest CPU the motherboard can support and the most RAM it can hold also. should last me for a while, i hope.

I imagine that she might be working with massive databases, which would probably require significant amounts of RAM depending on the size. Other than that, she could pretty much do whatever the hell she wants with a machine like that.
