As some of you know i work for a company that repairs computers for a large OEM company, recently they have instated a new policy: CID (customer induced damage). if we go onsite and find evidence of CID such as damage due to a drop, liquid spill or maybe the customer punched their system. We have to call the OEM and find out if their warranty covers such damage (makes sense sure) if it doesn't we have to inform the customer they have to speak to the CSR on the phone and could be charged up to and above $300. Kinda makes us (onsite techs) look like (pardon my language) an ass. They should tell the customer when they call in for help that if there is CID they will be charged for the repair. what do you guys (and gal) think?

Well, fortunately, it takes a serious spill to really harm today's computers. I think my wife has spilled a good number of drinks on our current keyboard and if you're diligent and a little quick there's really no harm done. Now, for people punching out their computers they absolutely should have to pony up the cash to pay for that PLUS they should stand in the light of humiliation as that truly shows an inability to show any patience. Really? Your first reaction to something not going your way is to punch it? You deserve to pay for absolutely all damage.
