Jess, I hope you don't mind if i place this here and link to it from other sites. Don't worry, there aren't any rom links at all. just links to files anyone can find by googling it. let me know if theres an issue.

I decided to create this tutorial because of all the trouble I had setting up Mario Kart GP and Mario Kart GP2. The majority of the information can be found on the internet but there is a lack of step by step instruction and some sites have left very important information out.

I started by installing d2x cIOS installer which can be found here: http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf5bc99c95h17i0 I unzipped it and placed it in my apps folder on my SD card. I started the d2x cIOS install from the homebrew channel and undated all my IOS files to v8 final. When you update the IOS you should use the online version, the list that follows are the preferred settings

cIOS245[37]-d2x-v8-final
cIOS246[38]-d2x-v8-final
cIOS247[53]-d2x-v8-final
cIOS248[55]-d2x-v8-final
cIOS249[56]-d2x-v8-final
cIOS250[57]-d2x-v8-final
cIOS251[58]-d2x-v8-final

A few of the IOS slots in my Wii weren’t used but I installed them anyway, it only took about twenty minutes total. Who knows, you may not even have to update them but when I tried to run MKAGP2 it gave an error stating I had to update to d2x installer version 6 (like I said, I just used version 8 as it was the newest)

I then prepared to install quadforce and two other wads, I found them here:

Quadforce wad: http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf5a14b9e1hfi0
MKGP channel wad: http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf59f02964hfi0
MKGP2 channel wad: http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf596b1730hfi0

Unzip the wad files and place them on the root of your SD card so they are easier to find. I used wad manager 1.7 that is also from here: http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf3fdcf502hci0 I unzipped it (dont forget to change the dol file name to boot.dol) and placed that in my apps folder on my SD card. I started the wad manager from the homebrew channel and installed quadforce wad (actual name is quadforce_v0.1.wad) into ios 250 (I didn’t install it on 249 like everyone else) I then installed mkgp wad (actual name is UGP1.wad) into 250 also, finally I installed the mkgp2 wad (actual name is UGP2.wad) into 250. The MKGP and MKGP2 wads will place a Mario Kart Arcade GP and Mario Kart Arcade GP2 channel into you modded Wii channels list, easy to boot from.

After you find your MKGP and MKGP2 game files (mine were in .bin format) you need to convert and rename them. The way to convert them is quite easy; first download DiscEX-v0.8-cred from this link: http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf4cc006a8hfi0 unzip it and open the folder. Drag and drop the game files into DiscEx.exe and it will convert your file into the folder the original file is located. After the files have been converted to iso format there should be a folder named RESLAB that contains the iso named “game” and a folder named sys. I found it easier to rename the RESLAB folder to the correct name of the game, GGPE01 for Mario Kart GP and GGPE02 for Mario Kart GP2. Next we have to change the games internal ID for it to boot properly. I used Wii ISO Renamer v.3 found here http://www.smartyfiles.com/file-id/sf5257f376hfi0 (I know, sounds like a one stop shopping site doesn’t it, but if it isn’t broken why fix it?) Change the new game name to whatever the game is, for MKGP I used Mario Kart GP and the Game ID to GGPE01 for Mario Kart GP2 I used Mario Kart GP 2 for the name and the ID is GGPE02. Pretty cut and dry.

I then created a folder on the root of my SD card called games and copied both folders (labeled GGPE01 and GGPE02) into it. You don’t have to change the name of the iso, it can remain game.iso and it will work fine. Then I just put the SD card into my Wii and booted Mario Kart GP from the Wii game channel. Hopefully my two days of trial and error helps someone, if you have any questions (not about the game roms though) feel free to ask.

By the way, if you don’t want the MKGP and MKGP2 channels on the wii skip the MKGP and MKGP2 wad install and run them from USB Laoder GX found here: http://code.google.com/p/usbloader-gui/downloads/detail?name=USBLoaderGX_v3.0_IOS249.dol and load the games from there, it works I tried it myself. Good luck, hopefully with the info I gave you won’t need luck.
