Barcelona new boy Coutinho pens emotional letter to the beauty of Liverpool Date published: Tuesday 9th January 2018 7:23 Philippe Coutinho has done his best to smooth things over with angry Liverpool fans by penning a heart-felt letter expressing his gratitude. The Brazilian playmaker completed a £142million move to the Nou Camp on Monday, bringing to an end a long-drawn out transfer saga. However, the move has left some Liverpool fans with a lot of resentment and, doing his best to explain his actions, Coutinho wrote on Instagram: “Since the moment I arrived in Liverpool, me and my family have been made to feel so welcome and have made so many friends. “On the pitch and off the pitch, we have experienced the beauty of this club and its fans. In turn, I hope I have delivered memories and moments that have brought happiness to the Liverpool supporters. “Moving to Liverpool, I knew the club’s greatness and history but what I did learn during my time was the unique heart and soul of the place. It has its own personality and character. “I leave Liverpool because Barcelona is a dream for me. Liverpool was a dream that I was fortunate enough to realise and I have given five years of my life to it. Want news and features on the Reds on your Facebook timeline? Like our dedicated Liverpool page. “A career on the pitch only lasts for so long and to play for Barcelona as well as Liverpool is something I want to experience and enjoy while I am blessed enough to be able to do so. “I hope the supporters understand that choosing to experience something new is not about diminishing their importance to me or the club’s importance. Nothing will ever diminish that in my heart. “I wish Jurgen and the team nothing but joy and success for the rest of this season and beyond. This is an amazing team and they are getting better and better all the time.” Coutinho joined Liverpool in an £8.5million move from Inter Milan in January 2013 and has gone on to establish himself as one of the Premier League’s leading stars. Barcelona saw multiple bids rejected for the player over the summer, but were eventually successful when Liverpool accepted their offer of €120million up front, with a further €40million based on add-ons and incentives. |

He should have stayed until the end of the season, as he can't play CL for them. |

Yes, but apparently "worries" about injuries cut in on both sides, FSG reputedly realising if got injured they would lose an £150 mill asset and went from there. Hang on, just glanced at that letter again and need to be . . . . |

It would have been nicer if he had thought of it and written it himself. Then again, he didn't have to agree to it. I wish him well and good fortune. |

Then this is something like what I would have written for him: To Liverpool Fans: I had to go, no sorrow or anything else involved I know you Scousers particularly won't take to that type of claptrap and bullshit. So, put yourselves in my place you work for a company and another company offers you a £20 million lump sum and triples your wages, with all other sort of added on perks - do you stay where you are? No of course not you go, it's the same for me as it is for other players who find themselves in my position, look at my friend and fellow Brazilian Neymar as a prime example, he left Barcelona. I remain grateful for Liverpool taking the gamble on me when rejected at Inter Milan and my hopes for you is that FSG do invest the money my transfer has resulted in wisely and you are successful. I hope then you wish me well as I wish LFC well for the future and if you don't I'll understand, but this football indeed it's life. Yours Phil. |

He pushed the deal through with £11.5m of his own money apparently. That doesn't happen often, he must really have wanted to go then. Seems genuine, l wish him all the best, always put in a decent shift, often surrounded by mediocrity, if all the add-ons are reached then it's excellent business for the club. He is still injured apparently. |

Truth is...he conducted himself sneekily, like a snidey little bastard, who over a year ago -under the instruction of the Master Snake- Kia Joora'bitch'un, signed a new five & a half year deal, pushing his wages up to £150,000 per week, & declaring his undying love for LFC, the little fraud, then puts up £11million of his own money to join Barsta' 'cos such a 'great club' like them cannot aff8rd to make up the difference, truly pathetic, good riddance!! Yes, we'll miss his ability in the team -but not his two-faced ability to blatently lie to the supporters of LFC, ta-ra Phyliss, careful as you step off the plane now, don't want you tripping over & hurting yourself, do we sunshine!! Bye.x |

Ha, ha, ha, ha, yeah, 'well done' alright, he dumped a transfer request on the club the day before the season started deliberately to upset the start of the season for us, & cause as much disruption as possible in an attempt to force a move, only weeks after he had committed himself to the club. Then came the faked injury & the bullshit about falling out with Klopp & being played out of position & him not making himself available for us but then miraculously recovers to play for Brazil!? Yeah ok, he played well when he eventually came back into the squad, but then at first chance, he again faked an injury & more or less told the whole team "your all shit and I deserve better" by virtue of his disrespectful antics, & proceeded to force a move out of the club at a time when it will be nigh on impossible for LFC to get a like-for-like replacement of the same calibre of skill set. So am I forgetting anything else about this lovely chappie? Truth is, fook him & his two-faced agent, & I dont care what he did whilst he was here, as he was being paid £150,000 per week to perform, but he dicked LFC around for two windows on the trot & has shown ZERO respect for the club, the shirt or the fans who made him what he is today, yeah sure, he 'conducted himself brilliantly' alright, the puny little lizard. |

My days of judgement of Coutinho are over. He decided to leave us, so we move on and find someone else to drool over and delight in at our club. Nice knowing you, Couts. Just drop the reflections about our club and what it used to mean to you. It's over. |

Coutinho was a good lad from what i've been told, my missus has a relative working at Edge Hill and she was told he spent a lot of time there in the children's wards on unofficial visits , his wife was also involved along with Bobby's wife seems the pair of them contributed directly to the hospital |

Good for him. Let's move on, because he won't be showing his generosity around here any longer. |

Hope that's true. Really good news. Hope Liverpool FC donate 10% of his fee to children's ward for toys goodies and other stuff, that would be nice.

EVERY Premier League player does that, it goes hand-in-hand & is part of the player's PR nowadays. However, it STILL doesn't detract in any way from what he did -as written earlier in the thread- enough said. |

I think he was more involved than what he was contractually obliged to MC, his missus was the one or it might have been Bobby's wife who instigated them spending time there helping the kids, remember something about one of their wives having a relative back in Brazil suffering some problem the same as some of the kids in edge Hill which would have been the connection |

I appreciate that Danny, I applaud that, & fair play to them for doing any kind of charitable work, but again, on the footballing side, it STILL doesn't detract in any way from what he did in conduct as a player off the pitch. |

I know what you say MC and accept it, but nowadays i take a deep breath at what goes on in football where money and greed rule. Sad state of affairs but that's where footballs at, we're not far off either where countries and politics play a part in club ownership |
