Looooool it's true!

If there were any underlying issues, the surely Dortmund wouldnt place a high transfer fee on him?

Given his record, it does not seem that there is an underlying issue.
China is a footballers graveyard full of players who couldn't be arsed anymore and seeking an easy life for lots of money.

The fact he is considering it leaves question marks for me.
If no other club is interested in him and he doesn’t have many chances to win silverware...then a lucrative retirement contract is an appealing option. I don’t think he is choosing the money ahead of a competitive challenge in Europe.
So then the question would be - why is no club outside of China interested in him?
Greedy over wages & apparently trouble in the dressing room....

Agent of Aubameyang heads to London for formal Arsenal talks
Date published: Wednesday 17th January 2018 3:04

The agent of Arsenal target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has reportedly flown to London in a bid to seal a move for his client.

This is according to a report from German outlet Bild, who claim that the player’s father/agent has flown to the capital to begin formal negotiations.

The Mirror reported on Tuesday that the Gabon international had verbally agreed a move to the Emirates. Aubameyang is reportedly desperate for a move to Arsenal, whose new head of recruitment Sven Mislintat knows the player from his time at Dortmund.

Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he will not sanction the sale of Alexis Sanchez until he had a replacement lined up.

There have been links between the Gunners and a number of targets, including Monaco’s Thomas Lemar and Bordeaux’s Malcom.

However, recently the speculation surrounding Aubameyang has been hotting up, and the striker was dropped for last weekend’s Bundesliga clash with Wolfsburg for skipping a key team meeting.

It was the second time this season he has been banned by his club for “disciplinary reasons”.

The 28-year-old is a reported target for Arsenal as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is expected to depart the Emirates this month.

“Disappointment is the wrong expression,” Dortmund coach Peter Stoger said in an interview with Sport Bild when asked about his feelings toward the Gabon international.

“Rather a lack of understanding as I cannot really comprehend his conduct. And I am certainly not the only one.”

Interesting that his stock has fallen so far, from once only wanting Real Madrid or Barca. Now only a failing Arsenal team are in for him.

Offer rejected as Dortmund confirm first Arsenal bid for Aubameyang
Date published: Saturday 20th January 2018 4:19

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed they have received an official bid from Arsenal for striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gabon striker has been heavily linked with the Gunners in recent weeks and his agent reportedly flew in for talks with the club on Thursday.

With Arsene Wenger confirming he’d welcome a character like Aubameyang into the Arsenal dressing room, Dortmund have now confirmed an approach.

Reports on Saturday suggested Arsenal’s offer was for €50m and that Dortmund had rejected the bid.

Commenting on the speculation, Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke told RuhrNachrichten.de: “I can confirm that there has been a first request from Arsenal for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

“We are not commenting on the sums that have been called from England since noon today.”

Aubameyang has missed Dortmund’s last three matches and on the striker’s current situation, Dortmund boss Peter Stoger said on Friday: “Well generally it doesn’t bother me at all if Aubameyang right now is kicking it around somewhere else.

“That’s his decision. If he had been good the moment we had training, he would have played [Friday] today.

“But I didn’t have that impression of him in the last training before the match.

“‘I felt like he was busy with many things but not this important match. That’s why he wasn’t with us.

“If he is also playing football all the time next week and there are photos of him, then he will be in the squad against Freiburg.”

Aubameyang is under contract at Signal Iduna Park until 2021.

The 28-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal as a potential replacement for Alexis Sanchez, who is expected to move to Manchester United.

Aubameyang was the Bundesliga’s top goalscorer last season as he finished the campaign with 31 goals and has hit 13 in 15 games so far this year.

However, he has been suspended twice by Dortmund this season for disciplinary reasons and sporting director Michael Zorc revealed last week he was not focused enough to play.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger was accused of being “disrespectful” by Zorc when he spoke about the links with Aubameyang last week.

Arsenal short-changed themselves with letting too many players getting to the end of their contracts. They salvaged something with the Chamberlain sale, but it was below his market valuation today. They are trying to salvage as much as possible from the Sanchez deal, but this is a 90 mill player that they won't recoup the money for. Then there is the loss on Oezil when his contract runs out and they are forced to replace him. They might be able to hang on to Wilshire, and salvage that situation, but the sale of Walcott didn't bring in enough. The other thing is that Aubameyang isn't really an investment for the future over several years, because he is a bit long in the tooth. They will be paying over the odds there, in my opinion. And if they are forced to pay BVB's price for Aubi, where does it leave them with their ability to compete with others for Lemar? Arsenal's owners might have significant wealth behind them, but they don't strike me as the kind who like to lose money.

Lot's of similarities, for sure. Grand old clubs with bags of tradition. Local owners sold to oversees investors who are business oriented rather than indulgent playboys. Needed to do major stadium upgrades to stay competitive. Struggle to compete with said indulgent owners of other clubs. Need to acquire top quality managers to compete against deeper pockets. The significant difference might be that Arsenal are coming to the end of the reign of their best manager in several decades; perhaps we are (hopefully) closer to the beginning of the reign of our best manager in decades.

Many more performances like that at Swansea and I can readily visualize Klopp saying " To Hell with it .." and walking away...
Arsenal of course have at least added a few F A Cups to their honours in recent years- unlike us, who remain stuck in a trophy desert...

Dortmund want Aubameyang exit despite rejecting Arsenal bids
Date published: Saturday 27th January 2018 12:52

Arsenal have been boosted in their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Borussia Dortmund have grown tired of the ‘disturbing fires’ surrounding the striker.

Arsenal have identified Aubameyang as their chief transfer target this January, and have already had two bids rejected with the Premier League side rumoured to be 10million euros short of Dortmund’s asking price.

The situation intensified on Friday after the German media accused Aubameyang’s father and agent of trying to engineer a move.

Sky Germany claim that Dortmund have now had enough of the entire affair, and directors Hans-Joachim Watzke and Michael Zorc are now accepting of the fact that the club might be better off if they sold the striker.

Sky reporter Maximilian Bielefeld says that Aubameyang no longer has a “good standing” with the rest of the squad, and that there are “many hostilities” towards him.

He adds that Watzke and Zorc have shown Aubameyang “the cold shoulder” during recent training sessions, and that “it would be best for both sides to break up”.

The report claims that the striker’s future has distracted his teammates, and Dortmund’s form is suffering as a result.

The message is simple: regardless of what the final decision is, ‘the sooner’ it is made, ‘the better’.

Because he says he's a player who plays in a position we don't need players atm. Wow! Ings, Solanke and an injured Sturridge is all we have if Firmino is injured.
