Klopp gives honest verdict after Liverpool’s FA Cup hoodoo continues
Date published: Sunday 28th January 2018 7:52

Jurgen Klopp made no excuses after his Liverpool side were dumped out of the FA Cup by West Brom on Saturday night.

The German coach refused to use the debate over VAR as an excuse for his third-successive failure to get past the fourth round of the cup after previous defeats to West Ham and Wolves.

“Of course it will change things. It is nice West Brom celebrates a goal and then someone tells them it isn’t a goal but I think that is what everyone wanted,” said Klopp.

“If a goal should be disallowed, it is disallowed. It is normal in the beginning it takes longer. Is it cool in January when it is cold? Maybe not.”

Klopp was more concerned with the manner of defeat after Roberto Firmino’s early goal was cancelled out by the first of two Jay Rodriguez strikes just 71 seconds later.

Joel Matip’s own goal made it 3-1 just before half-time and even Mohamed Salah’s 25th goal of the season could not spark a late equaliser.

“They deserved it, to be honest. I don’t like to say it but it’s the truth, West Brom deserved it so compliments to Alan and his side,” Klopp said.

“We had big aims in this competition, we wanted to show that at least that we really wanted to stay in this competition.

“It was poor. Bad defending, that is how it is. Taking the wrong decision,” added Klopp.

“We scored a fantastic first goal. We go 1-0 up, it is perfect and it felt like it was a second later we conceded.

“The second goal we leave Rodriguez alone in the box which makes absolutely no sense and the third one is really unbelievable.

“It is easy to defend, you only have to push up and Dawson is offside.

“They defended and they deserved it. I don’t like to say that but it is the truth.”

Last night only proves that we play better as underdogs. Our defence is a complete joke. And don't even get me started on Mignolet. He's useless. I laughed my ass off even when that tame offside header looped over his flapping arms and into the net.

Thats the goalkeeper for LFC.....how has it come to this???

There is a deep-rooted problem with the defence /gk

The coaches must be replaced with top class ones. We're making too many schoolboy errors consistently. It's amateur stuff.

I've heard they are pretty hot shit - in their defence.

When Mignolet is still considered by Klopp up to a few weeks ago to be his best GK after being on the job here now for 2 years and 3 months , then I give up trying to understand this manager.

Nobody can tell me that FSG didn’t give him any money to find a better GK option than him and Karius either.

And it was Wolves who put us out last year. Warrington Town would give us a game at the moment..

Which 7? Salah, Mane, Bobby, Gino, Can, Ox, VVD, TAA are all well capable of playing in any team in the leageu. Moreno, Mingebag and Matip we could do without.

Otherwise our team has only been beaten twice in 20 matches. One included ending city's 4 year unbeaten run. Can was majestic in that match. Now he is a bum again.

No offence to anyone, and I am the first to agree that WBA was a complete and utter shit performance, but the manner in which some people react is simply Mancunian. Lets keep it in perspective, at least another few weeks, shall we?

At which time, I will gladly jump on the bandwagon. Indeed, be holing the reins.:)

It'd be really nice if we didn't have to have a meltdown every time we don't win. I think we need a reminder that we're 20 odd bell-ends on a forum. Nothing more, nothing less. The level of knicker-wetting is just embarrassing.

So what you are saying is that its Klopps fault that we have poor goalkeepers as he obviously has the full backing with funds .

How does it happen consistently though? We've just gone on an unbeaten run lasting 19 games.

Every team loses games that they shouldn't, or fails to win games that they "should" have easily won. We notice it more when LFC do it because we support LFC.

But you said people moan when we don't win, so that also includes the draws in our unbeaten run? And we have certainly capiluated more than enough times to feel that we will do again.

There is a meltdown every time we don't win. Its boring and tiresome.

Is it really too much to ask that we aren't all pissing our pants three days later?

If you have money like 40 million to spend on a Arsenal reserve to fill in squad gaps on your team , I'm pretty sure he could of allocated some of that or all of that to get a better GK than Mignolet , who has completely stunk the place up in 4 Seasons here. Karius is nowhere near the necessary quality and experience and he cost very little to bring on.

Klopp either overestimated their abilities or placed way too much loyalty in them. Either way , the GK situation at Liverpool is beyond a joke. The entire football planet knows that that is a dreadful chronic issue at the club.

Thats football though. Sometimes the better team doesn't win. No amount of foot stamping on here changes that, no matter how many time the same opinion is posted. It'd just be nice if we all had the emotional maturity to deal with it a little better, too much to ask I suppose.

People boo at a match because they've dropped their hard earned money to see their team fuck it up. Most of them wanted a nice day out to watch their team win, and then they have the temerity to lose! The very nerve! Don't they know that Joe Bloggs travelled all the way from 'Noonegivesafuckville" and spent loads of cash buying cheap tat in the club shop?!?!

And no fucker influences me. I come to my own judgement, and that judgement is that grown men pissing their pants over something so inconsequential is just embarrassing.
