Liverpool youth sensation signs first professional contract www.teamtalk.com Liverpool youth sensation signs first professional contract Date published: Thursday 1st February 2018 2:34 Liverpool youth sensation Curtis Jones has signed his first professional contract with the club after starring for Steven Gerrard’s U-18s side. Jones, who only recently turned 17, has been a regular scorer for the Reds in the U-18 Premier League and in the UEFA Youth League. He scored four times in the group stage as the Reds progressed in the competition and Gerrard was full of praise for the youngster. “It’s very special for Curtis and his family and thoroughly deserved,” the Under-18s boss told LiverpoolFC.com. Let’s hope he goes from strength to strength now and he sees this as the beginning.” |

I can see him stepping out in a Carlisle shirt in January 2021 in his first loan move . But seriously hope the lad does well we could do with decent players being nurtured from within for a change . Lets hope he gets chances , unlike many others before him. Edited by DickWhiteog, Feb 2 2018, 10:41 AM.

What is the expectation? Curerntly we have Gomez and TAA looking like they will hold down first team spots. Woodburn could be another who will make it. Not many teams on our level have many breakthrough from the youth teams. I would prefer we spend a bit more and get the better youth players (the fella from Scotland recently?), which City have been doing a lot recently. |

Many youth players do not make the transition into first team football, Jones looks special as does Woodburn but we have had too many in the past that have also looked capable while playing against boys of the same age, It is such a difficult time coping with the natural changes teenager's bodies have to cope with, luckily they have a man who did make that transition guiding them through, it would be rare if both Woodburn and Jones become regulars in the first team, TAA looks likely to be or close to a future first team regular, Gomez and Sterling were both poached as very special young players, |
