News coming through he has decided to move on, obviously made no headway on new contract, not fully reached his potential with us but I expect him to be a top player in the future. |

Has great talent, but unlike great players, half is games are simply too forgettable. Was pretty transparent in the Spurs match. Week before he put in a MOTM display against City. Before that, Swansea and West Brom. Perhaps a cycle of development. At times he is able to carry the midfield at others, he is part of the problem. He's hardly alone in our side it is pretty fair to say. |

By August most fans will forget he was a Liverpool player. Keita is streets better than him and I’m sure Klopp would be looking to sign another central midfielder in the next window as well. Not only Can but I think , Milner is gone too in the Summer. |

Can leaving LFC is a total indictment to our piss poor club management . HTF could he be allowed to leave on a free. Like the Coutts situation , we had more than enough notice to sort something out but all we got was "Ostrich time" - from a football perspective we have dumb asses running our club. From a business perspective this situation would highlight failure to me and who ever is responsible for allowing an expensive asset to be lost for nothing should be sacked. |

Complete agree Dwog. To allow him to leave on a free transfer at his age and the supposed value he has out there was just plain stupid. Even Arsenal blew it a bit on Sanchez who was going to leave on a free in a few months but they did get something in return in Mkytarian for him. |

Simple really. He refused a new contract renewal 12 months ago, or maybe more, and has decided to let his existing contract expire. When he moves now, he gets a big payday in terms of either a bigger salary or a fee from the buying club - probably both. That is the business of footy these days. Any decent player might well decide to let his contract run out, and the reward in doing so will be more lucrative than penning a new deal. Why is this FSG's fault? Are you suggesting Can was not offered a contract 12 months ago? Perhaps he was pissed reading the Boston Strangler Lallana was making whatever the ridiculous pay raise he got, and wanted similar. Unless you know something 99.9 % of people in the world don't know, then its pure speculation as to what has really transpired. Can is one of Klopp's regulars. Why would the club not do what they could to keep him, and have to dip into the market again. Has Klopp come out and suggested the owners have left him to hang with respect to Can. Anyone else have the inside story? No! In all likelihood: He was offered a new contract 12 months ago He turned it down. Nothing better has emerged in the interim from the club. He's letting his contract expire and fucking off to Italy. He will make a few million in sign on bonus, and probably double or triple his current salary. His offer from Liverpool was probably the latter. He might just fucking hate the weather, when all is said and done. Clearly he is not content to hang around...... Its simple! He was given a new contract with a pay rise, but he and his agent turned it down and responded with, what we can only assume, were intentionally farcical and ridiculous terms for his renewal, intentional in the sense that they knew full well that we would never agree to and that as a result negotiations would drag on and on till it got to this stage. They used the Juve interest as bait to get him tied down on a £150k (approx.) per week 3 year deal or something so he can kick back and live the good life on our dime, now he gets a massive golden handshake when he moves to Turin. They planned this the whole way through, just like Sanchez, and this will happen more and more often l think. Until a Bosman style protective ruling is introduced to protect clubs from this sort of thing happening. He is an average player anyway. Edited by stevieg4ever, Feb 7 2018, 05:07 PM.

He becomes a shit hot irreplaceable asset when used to bludgeon the owners. To be honest, in my minds eye, I can easily visualise a Liverpool without Can kicking another ball. Can is as (in)consistent as Phil, if we are all being supremely honest, without being anywhere near as gifted. Don't let the door hit your fucking arse on the way out...... Sure JB. What were you saying about "Emre" (i see it is Emre now?) after that Spurs match? West Brom? Swansea? Bottler, brown kecks, Germanium No doubt. Now he's leaving, he's "not bad" What Can is good for now is being a big stick to beat the owners with..... and again..... and again...... Edited by Hollywood, Feb 7 2018, 05:09 PM.

The irony is, had we sold him when he refused to sign a contract FSG would've been accused of selling our players for profit. No win scenario for the club here.

Wouldn't miss him one jot l think. Get him off the wage bill and look at it as a positive. Of the three he would be the first out of the door. |

So its not a problem to let our players F*ck off for nowt - I have heard it all now. With the acceptance of such low standards at our football club its no surprise the owners feel they can do whatever they like without being answerable. Mind I suppose they are the owners and can basically do anything and tell us to swivel on it. Football is F*cked. |

Is it possible that we can give Juve a few more players for free and cut the wage bill , there are a few I would not mind seeing in black and white stripes. |

Please articulate for us all how FSG might have altered the situation outside offering Can a decent contract extension in 2017. Do you have insider knowledge as to the terms of our offer to Can? Does anyone? I thought not. You are now suggesting that one of Klopps key players is being allowed to leave, with no intervention from the club, so that FSG can what..... save a bit of cash. Really? Likewise, you would have us believe we just let Phil leave so the club could cash in. Bit of booty to blow on a yacht! The fact of the matter is the club upped Phils wages, as they did with Suarez, and both players still wanted to fuck off. Just as Can clearly wants to fuck off. Its not to buy yachts or baseball players. These players just wanted off to the bright lights of Spain. Bit of sun and sand. Edited by Hollywood, Feb 7 2018, 10:33 PM.

Come on what? Identify how what I said is incorrect. Can was vilified after the games we did poorly in. Now he's a prize asset. He wants away. Players that cant come to terms on contracts really just want to fuck off. Suarez, Sanchez, Macca, Phil. We can make them any offer we like. They don't care. |

The problem is that the central midfield area is slim pickings right now so selling Can in January for a small fee wasn’t really an option before he fucks off for free in a few months. No chance he will be missed from the squad next year. I guess no other player in that area that’s currently in the squad would be missed either. |

It s hard work really - let me try and explain how I see it - A decent set of club managers would protect their investment (I.e Can) . This guy whether you like him or not is worth 20m plus in todays market possibly 50m plus being a German International of young age and plenty of years left on the clock. Our club should have signed him up well before he was in the position to walk away . The fact they did not means that Can stitched them up. So a thick footballer has run rings around our club management costing them potentially 20-50m pounds . If anyone sees a positive in this then I am at a loss to discuss it any further . It is a disastrous piece of business which ever way I look at it. Signing him up for a contract extension and then selling him off would surely have been a far better option. Its obvious we have been shafted because Klopp was even making him captain in a desperate attempt to get him to stay. Maybe the club will give him a late offer he cannot refuse and then sell him , just to prove that they are the keen , ruthless businessmen they should be. Again Hols , if you do not see anything wrong with this situation I am happy for you !! keep smoking whatever it is .

He's no suarez nor couts.... And he did underperform in recent games...... But he's not a bad player still...... Better option than Hendo, Lallana, milner..... He's the only player who tackles.... Well milner does but he's slow and coming to the end of his playing days. |
