So he is saying he couldnt win them at lfc and we all (all realists that is ) know why .the sell to buy policy of FSG will not allow us to compete at the highest level (that being the champions of england ) yes we have been close once or twice in 28 years but the norm is we DONT compete like the clubs who show true intent on there signings (not just one offs like VVD)

By virtue of that argument, joining one of the Manchester clubs or Chelsea would serve equally well as a reason to leave. Somehow I suspect that there is more to the argument.

not really when the prem can be won by at least 4 teams were as in spain its one of two so he is virtually a given to win a title .

Sell to buy, is that the case for the past 25 years?

Liverpool stated that they would not sell him to an English club...even if he wanted to join one, which he apparently didn't...

Well if he, as he did, went to Spain he has a 1 in 2 chance of winning something with either Barca or RM. With the rest nowhere.

Owen, Torres, Suarez, Phil. They all left us to win shit. And they all did. It is not synonymous with FSG. Been going on since the 90's.

If anything, we have improved as a club under the current owners. Both on and off the park. Much more attractive proposition. Not great, but better.

Glass half full or half empty? For many, its the quaff from the spittoon. You wonder why they bother?

Its a vicious cycle; the only way we can win titles is by getting our best players to stay, and our best players will only stay here if they are winning titles.

However, with that said there is lots of middle ground as well and that's what we have to covet much better; competing for the best trophies, being in the knockout stages of the CL on a more consistent basis, qualifying for the CL regularly, winning the FA Cup would all greatly improve our standing from where we are now. We have started to do this under Klopp which is why he is so important.

You can't blame Coutinho, he is just being honest. Plus he gave us years of good service and great moments.

..and no doubt fed up of scoring great goals only for his team mates to capitulate alot of times meaning his goals ment not as much as they should have done.

All other things being equal, I'm guessing that the history of his new club, and the culture and ambience of his new country of residence might be more appealing to a Latin-American than moving 35 miles down the road.

Those who deride 'only' getting to the top 4 are missing the point that you have explained. Champions League football attracts better players, and better players offer a bigger chance of winning trophies, any trophy. It's a progression, and you are right, it's happening under Klopp.

Assist by Suarez....

5 years ago Suarez also assisted Coutinho for his firs Liverpool goal.

The more things change, the more they stay the same eh?
