Alberto to go for 4.9 mill

Die-hard Reds
AC Milan midfielder Alberto Aquilani has revealed that the Serie A champions will be obligated to sign him on a permanent basis from Liverpool for €6 million if he features in 25 matches this term.

The 27-year-old is currently on a season-long loan deal with the Rossoneri after it became apparent that first team opportunities at Anfield were not forthcoming.

Milan coach Massimiliano Allegri has selected the Italy international 13 times in all competitions so far, and Aquilani has divulged the details of a potential permanent move to the Giuseppe Meazza.

"There is a buyout fee set at €6 million and it is activated after 25 games," he stated to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I feel more assured. You can never say no to Milan. I have always had the hope of becoming a Rossoneri player."

Aquilani spent last season on loan at Juventus, and believes a long term deal at the Turin club was blocked by Liverpool's large valuation of him.

"I did not expect to be bought by Juventus, the price set by Liverpool [€16 million] was too high. Juve was an opportunity and I have used it well.

"It was a critical step in my career as after Liverpool I needed to play continuously. Maybe if I had not gone to Juventus I would not be at AC Milan," he concluded.

The Scudetto holders are set to face Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi on Saturday.

Lets just put this entire business behind us now.

He cost way too much in the first place, was always injured and the manager who did buy him had a go at him for his attitude, the next manager didn't rate his game at all and sent him out on loan and the 3rd manager decided to cut his costs and hopefully someone from his native country snaps him up.

Aquillani was never happy in England nor does his game suit the style of football here. He wanted back to Italy so good luck to him. Not the first nor the last big transfer bust that Liverpool or any other major club will get involved in.

Aqua man was never given the opportunity to show what he could do, many lads on here are all saying that our latest new signings need time to 'gel' well double standards seem to be in force because Aquaman was never given time. He is a class player, an Italien international and a playmaker which is more than be said of what we have now in midfield. Ok I accept that there were other personal problems with his family not wanting to stay in England but that was only because of the way he was treated by Hodgson who sent him out on loan, he never gave him the time of day. He alongside Miereles who's lining up against us tomorrow for Chelsea should be wearing our shirt but bad management decisions were made and we the fans have lost out. We have instead the silky skills of Henderson and Adam to brighten our day

Letting him go for 6 mil euros is a disgrace. Hendo 20 mil vs Aqwa 4,5 mil ????? I rest my case.

Danny et al,

I was a firm advocate of Aquilani because anybody who knows anything about football, could see that he was techincally our best player and passed the ball at a faster tempo than our other midfielders which is what you need to unlock stubborn defences at home.

He was given short shrift by the resident Echo divs being described as "Aqualazy and a White Elephant." All because he had had a serious ankle injury. I think the form he displayed in his pre-season showed them up. He played some of the most exciting silky football, I've seen from a Liverpool midfielder in a long, long time and I've been a supporter for over 40 years. It was a taste of what might have been.

That said, Aquilani asked Hodgson to go on leave in 2010 just as he asked Dalglish the same this year. The guy was simply homesick and his glamour model girlfriend didn't want to live in England.

He is making chances a plenty in Italy and I will watch AC's Champions League campaign with interest. Definitely a case of what might have been, because he is a top international class player and a couple of levels ahead of Adam and Henderson, but they want to play for us.

I'm just gutted, that Aquilani never played with Suarez, Torres or Gerrard for any length of time.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Exactly Sonny Jim and when you put Miereles in the equation as well we start to have a good looking midfield. I think what you said about his girl friend not wanting to live in England is only partly true because when he first came over and i'm sure he consulted his lady friend at the time it was said that she would be spending her time between Italy the UK and France so what's the true story I don't really know. It was also said that Hodgson told him he didn't fit into his plans hence his request to be sent out on loan but whatever happened the bottom line was we lost a top quality player

Good player alright, but what can you do when he didn't want to play for us?

I don't think we got to see the best of Aquilani, and he didn't get to experience the best of LFC, because of the H&G era, and our poor season on the pitch back then.

I think that he arrived at the Club at a very bad and uncertain time.

The Team as a whole were playing poorly, and Rafa was at war with the owners. It would be hard to excel in such negative circumstances.

I think we need to draw a line in the sand with the Aquaman issue, take the money and finish with this issue. Other clubs like Utd, Chelsea, City and Arsenal have had their fingers bitten with similar problems and we need to take it on the chin and move on.

aqua was homesick yes.however in the few games he did play he was sheer class.you could see why benitez had earmarked him as alonsos replacement.if he had of been made to feel central to the teams plan and given a good run of games hed of stayed imo.
Sonnyjim, made me smile when you were fighting a losing battle about the buys of kenny with the echo diveys as you call them.trying to reason with that lot is impossible when all they like to do is insult.

ah no steve

tompkins and his excuses has found a small core of followers who will defend the subpar/substandard performances of well paid lfc players' even when they have been shipped out for BEING SUBSTANDARD

It was so obvious that Aquilani was in a different galaxy in so far as talent goes.

Some of those divvies refused to believe it.

What I heard and this was from an "unimpeachable source" was that Aquilani asked to go, nowt to do with Hodgson.
