He was a bit suspect on their goal for me, but yes, controlled teh game. Nice to see some good interplay between the midfield yesterday. |

He did allow the runner to go, but defensively two Chelsea players could have put the ball in the net quite easily from a simple driven shot cum cross. Disappointing goal to concede, but we took our chances for a change. |

We wouldnt of won yesterday were it not for Adam. His chasing down of the play for the first goal was terrific and the ball to Johnson also great. His vision and execution will create alot of chances for us this season. His set pieces were poor yesterday but perhaps he just had an off day in this respect. He reminds a bit of John Barnes in central midfield in his final two years. Incidentally and totally unrelated, but I think the goal owed more to Cech than Mikkel tbh. |

A bit of both. If it was us, and Mikel was Lucas, who would have got the blame? :ph43r: |

why does Lucas have to be brought into it? I think its a redundant question anyway because Reina would never do that with so many players in close proximity. |

It's not a redundant question - anything can happen. MY bringing of Lucas into it was to provoke a reaction. IF it were Lucas (or Adam for some posters) in that situation then they would get the blame in my opinion. If you'd rather not comment on it, fine. A pertinent point though. |

Of course, but sometimes it takes looking at things differently to illicit a different view on things, which in turn can give a more rounded view of a situation. I don't care whose fault it was - we won.

i think the reason ca had his best game from open play in a liverpool shirt is the fact that both bellamy and maxi dropped back and tucked in allowing him more freedom of movement with the ball and without the ball.he looks so much better in a 3 or 5 man midfield.hendo as well looked better in a 3 or 5 man midfield playing a high tempo game where he can play off the cuff without having to think too much where to pass or what hes going to do with it. |

i also think some things have been spelt out to adam by gerrard and kenny.gerrard said they have to perform all game every game.kenny has told him to mix it up more and get in amongst the tackles i think.fair play to him he done well yesterday. |

The win owed a lot to improved familiarity between players. Which is why we shouldn't judge players too early. We had better presence in the midfield on account of Kenny's tactics, so we kept it nice and tight. We did not have an isolated winger on the touch line, as we have for too long and too often this year. We had wing backs playing on the flanks as they should, both sides. That allowed Bellamy to move into the penalty area, where he was a greater danger than Downing usually is, without depleting the midfield. There was a balance about this team that we had last season, after Christmas. |

Or it was due to a change in tactics, suitable for a tough team away from home. |

I think the tactics we used helped Adam , he had more options with this team, the balance was better and running off the ball better, Bellamy in particular makes a big difference with his running in to space and taking players with him, just hope it lasts |

As the Season progresses , Adam gets more familiar and is more effective on the team. He did have his best game vs Chelsea and was always in the thick of the action and never shied away. His corner kicks have been poor but everywhere else , he does a fine job. Some here have negatively commented on his defensive work and he certainly does not have blistering pace to get back quickly but he is intelligent and does cover spaces. |

OR put another way - Red Machine just does not like Adam. Or Kenny. Or fucking Liverpool for that matter. Let's face it. Adam is not graced with electric pace. For me his stamina is questionable in the last 3rd of the match. Certainly, on their goal he was a reluctant challenger, where as his mate Lucas might have just fouled the lad and lived with the consequences (a veiled Lucas compliment that). Fortunately, Adam has more vision in his little toe nail than Lucas is ever going to muster in an entire season. Without Adam yesterday, we wouldn't have scored either goal. Good up field pressure and tackle on one, great pass on the other. I still think Lucas and Adam together is trouble without the appropriate support (5 man middle) about him. I just don't know how Kenny will resolve Adam, Lucas Gerrard in the middle. Perhaps all 3 in a 5 man middle, with either of Kuyt, Hendo, Bellamy and Downing - with Suarez up top. Maxi has proven late last season and SUnday past, that he too is worth a look. Nopt a bad little issue. We beat City, as I expect us to, then Kenny will have a problem, and some people on here will look right 'kin ######. Here's to a repeat of last years 3-0 battering of CIty (Carroll 2, Kuyt). |
