maybe we should stick with these for the remainder, looks like, in time, they could forge a good understanding in the future, agger reminded me of a young alan hansen last night, had a cracker of a game.
some say im a dreamer, but im not the only one...

Agree, Carra deserves his rest but Id like to see Coates given chances too.

without carragher the two center backs can shake off his shadow and grow together.

i dont think carra casts a shadow, i think agger and skrtel have learned alot from him, just dont think carra can play every game at the top level now, but im certainly not gonna slate carra for all he has done..legend.

i think all his bawling and imposing on the others that hes in charge and hes the top man...as a result of his longevity over the years and what he has epitomised...that unsettles them.skirttle agger are doing fine imo..coates will be very good too.

Carra is a legend. He's past his best. His experience is still vital at the club but he must not be an automatic pick any longer.

Skittles looks far better with Agger, maybe he feels a little intimidated with Carra, dont know but hope these two are kept together now

Carra is not the most mobile or the quickest. We play a deeper line with him in the team - Skrtel finds it easier when playing a higher line, and with a better player alongside him too.

This definitely is a partnership we should keep together as long as we can. They look like they can play together. Skrtel's form is allowing us to get the best out of Johnson, covering for him as he breaks forward, and when good wingers give him difficulty. But Coates needs to play from time to time, and I wouldn't be shy about playing him in the Carling Cup against Chelsea. We will get the most out of Agger if we rest him every fifth match or so.

Take out that horrific game at the Lane vs Spurs where everything went wrong and the two red cards, Liverpool have conceded 7 goals in the other 11 games, Best record in the league.

I would think that the Liverpool defense, whatever the combination of the back 4 works well. Carra at 34 is very normal to see his reaction time on a decline but he can still offer productive performances when called on. Skrtel and a fit Agger is as good as any CB pairing in the EPL.

there is no doubt carragher is still more than an excellent squad player to call on now. skirtle and agger are doing well.kenny has found his best team and players to go forward with.the ones he can trust to put in a full shift for him and the team.its as if some of them have just had a realy big rude awakening.2 quality midfielders will see lfc soar high as defence is about as good as can be now and attack is in place to get better too.

Just bought two three quality midfielders in the summer (including Downing).

I think we're grand for midfielders dub.

cahill would probably be.im hoping to see coates play aganst chelsea in the cup again.he will be great player once he gets a run in the team.first sign of agger or skirttle being off form and i think it will be coates not carragher that gets the chance.

I don't really see us being in for any more centre backs, with Skrtel and Agger, and Carra in reserve with Coates coming through. Even Kelly, who is thought to be a future CB is an option.

I think Carra will still be first back up. We're going to bed Coates in very gently in my opinion, as we've been doing so far.

I would be very surprised if Liverpool bought a defender this January. That is the least of the problems on this team. Perhaps scoring 16 goals in 12 matches is something Kenny and the board should be looking at more closely. Its all about the finishing as creating chances not an issue.

Agger and Skrtel are the best CB pairing we have.I,d like to see Kelly and Coates given some game time at the back but they will have to be eased into it and this is where Carra will be best for the club.In a role as a mentor.

Carra still has alot to offer imo. While he may have lost a yard of pace and is nearing the end of his career i think his knowledge is extremley important to pass on to Coates and Kelly. The rest of the season as a sub/squad player and then back next year as a coach would be ideal.

Coates got his first Liverpool goal yesterday in a reserves match.

A 5-1 win over Sunderland. Nice. :)

Excellent stuff. Spearing and Wilson impressed as well.

think some of our fans are being a bit unfair on carra myself i think he still offers a lot for us especially should we get into europe next season he has vital experience thats needed but i except that the pairing of agger and skrtel is our best pairing at the moment .

I just don't see Carra getting a game as long as Skrtel and Agger are fit, and I am not sure that he can actually do the job anymore. Coates looks like the natural successor, and he needs some playing time. There may not actually be a playing role for him next season, unless there are European fixtures, although he may move over into some kind of coaching role.

I just don't think he should be a first choice any more. He still has a lot to offer as previously stated, and we'd be daft not to make use of that. If he's filling in rather than playing week in week out, it will be easier on the legs and leave him both fresher and raring to go when he gets a chance.
