just read this article with robbie "the knob" savage saying no lfc fan would begrudge stevie a move to city in jan to get a league winners medal just wondering if thats actually true ??????? i personally have nothing but 100% respect for our captain and if thats what he wanted to do i would be happy to see him win the league this season with city and wish him all the best but i am certain not all lfc fans have the same respect for our captain that i have. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- As I'm sure every Liverpool fan remembers, Steven Gerrard almost became a Chelsea player on two separate occasions during the mid-2000s. Thankfully, he decided to stay at Anfield, but almost 7 years later, Gerrard still hasn't won what he desires the most: the league title. Time is running out for Liverpool's captain, and former Leicester City and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Robbie Savage believes that Gerrard must leave Anfield if he is to achieve that goal: "I'm sure Gerrard doesn't regret turning down Chelsea and Real Madrid in summer 2005 to stay with Liverpool. "In the euphoria of the Champions League comeback in Istanbul - one of the greatest individual performances I've ever seen - he did the right thing by giving his club the best possible chance to win a title. "But that is gone now and I'm sure no-one on Merseyside would begrudge him if, say, Chelsea or Manchester City came in with a shock offer for him in January. "Of course, that's highly unlikely to happen and Gerrard will probably end his career without a title medal". It would be a tremendous shame if one of Liverpool's greatest ever players ended his career without winning a league title, but that is a definite possibility at this stage. Gerrard recently suggest that the 2014-15 season could be his last for Liverpool, and with injuries continually curtailing his career at the moment, time is quickly running out. I was a huge critic of Gerrard's dual-flirtation with Chelsea; it seemed traitourous to leave at that time, especially when he had the privilege of captaining his hometown club at such a young age. However, Gerrard stayed and proved his loyalty, and if he was to leave now, I'm sure most fans wouldn't have a problem with it. Like Steve McManaman before him, Gerrard has put his time in at Anfield, and if he wanted one last hurrah before hanging up his boots, who could begrudge him that? As Savage says though, it's very unlikely to happen, but if Gerrard recovers from injury and gets back to top form, who knows...? |

I think the real point is that Stevie wants to win the league with Liverpool, not City or Chelsea or Real Madrid. I am not so sure City would be interested in Stevie these days anyway, as I reckon he's just about coming to the end of it. Surely just a couple of years left in him at the very best of his game. Not had much of a say this season. |

And at what stage does anyone thing City will win the league ? I personally think they will have a mid season stutter like the rest and will struggle in Christmas / January weather. Silva doesnt fancy the bad weather, and at the minute he's making them tick. Toure Brothers will be off for the African Nations. Ballotelli doesnt fancy the bad weather ...Aguero ? I dunno he's still to prove he can play in the soggy boggy pitch But above all else ....That City defence is brutal. Have a go at it, and they will capitulate. |

If he was going to make any move then it would have been to Chelsea those times back in 2005 while they were Champions, and he was younger and at the very top of his game. There's no way he'd make any move to a strange football club now. The Club Captain will have his swan-song here in front of his own fans. But that's a while off yet. In answer to the question in the title; I wouldn't begrudge Stevie anything. He's done more for LFC than many of its great players. I think he would begrudge himself though, if the question were posed to him. |

Good niggle that! Always make me smirk, the little digs at Lucas. Soctty will be evil on you now. Lucas's alot better lately, it has to be said. Still not great, but better. What happened to the "personally, I don't belong on the bench .." Dirk Boy quote in your sig JB. Always made me laugh that too. You mellowing in your owl age? |

If Gerrard wanted to go he would have gone to Chelsea or RM- I will be very surprised if he moves now. Hopefully next season he will win the title with Liverpool. |

Who asked you to set yourself up as judge, jury, and executioner in this stupid bout of make-believe? You pick up an idiotic quote from an idiotic former player and run with it as though it came down from the mountain with Moses on a tablet. Savage is a media hack who is trying to create a story where none exists, because he has nothing better to say or do than create trouble for a great player. Something which he never was, of course. No doubt he would drool at the chance to do exactly this himself, but nobody asked him because he was a nobody. But one thing he did learn, apparently, which is to find a way to hook other nobodies like you on his line. You should know better. |
