How good was Robbie Fowler?

One of my all time favourite LFC players. From 1993-97 he was a cut above most strikers if not all (Shearer aside). Devastating in the box, right foot, left foot and aerially almost unplayable at times. Reminded me very much of Jimmy Greaves in the way he just passed the ball into the net with stunning accuracy. Admittedly injuries took their toll. What are the teams thoughts on the Toxeth legend who scored 128 goals in 266 appearances.

injury limited him from reaching his potential. he was better than shearer. he is top 5 scorer in the prem - he achieved this as a kid. if he had a proper run for a decade, he would have easily been no.1. my fav lfc player.

One of my favourite players, and few have had an instinct of goalscoring in the Game as him.

Had the pleasure to watch him live and score on many an occasion. His movement, his footballing brain, the sweetest left peg in the prem and he was great in the air for such a short arse.

What was it 93 or 94 goals in 3 seasons at the age of 20-21-22? That was and is a fantastic record, to many goals and memories to post, that chip against united at OT - the hatrick against the Arse - that goal against Villa when he nutmegged Ste Staunton with a deft flick, turned 25 yards out KOP end and with little or no back lift banged the ball into the top corner.

Bumped into him last year on the golf course, well in the golf shop, I walked in and had to take a second glance but there was God stood there wearing just a bright pink pair of boxies

Fowler was very good...for a while!
robbie liked a pint and got away with it when he was a young lad.it caught up with him as he got older i think.
regulary i used to see fowler mcmanaman james hutchinson babb...all out in what by coincidence became called reds ..formerley the devonshire in edge lane. never any problems with them.hutchinson was the worst though and regulary he would be totaly palatic..smashed!!!week days after matches and weekends too. club continental 'the conti' was another regular haunt of theirs too.
was a good player but personaly i never thought he deserved the name god which his team mates gave him.his dad is well known among many fans ..because hes one of the lads basicly..!!
once his pace went he was never the same again tbh.better than owen though.

robbie's auto is the best one i've read and he was in touch with the fans and was/is a fan despite being a very rich lad. great sense of humour and super player deserves the adulation he gets from us fans as he did the biz and got shafted by ged but rafa saw his qualities and brought him back

fowler was outstanding he was led astray by nobheads at the club who were a bad influence on many at lfc at the time ie ruddock and macca they even fooked about in games passing the coin to see who would get the first round in after the match  they got away with lots under roy evans and that was roys downfall and the reason tomo and houllier wanted shut of robbie cos they wanted the fucking about to stop they didnt want robbie affecting the young lads the same way ruddock and macca did to robbie .as a striker robbie could of been one of the best ever up there with batistuta and van basteen i kid you not.

Best natural striker I've ever seen . Left ,right ,head . Ask shcmichel . Was season ticket holder when he was there ,saw his 4 min hat rick against the so called best defence in the prem . Great player just a shame cut short by injury

there was a time when it seemed lfc just turned strikers like rush fowler owen off a conveyor belt.
aparently robbie owns lots n lots of properties across liverpool and manchester..he did a few years ago anyway.overall he was a good lad imo but it is true about his liking of a drink though.

Robbie was the best of his generation, pure and simple.
He had to contend with Shearer and les Ferdinand for top goal scorer each season, but 30 plus goals a season in a team not challenging for major honours, is testament to just how utterly brilliant he was.
He was simply the best. An absolute all rounder...left foot, right foot, headers, free kicks, tap ins, scorchers from distance, skill, penalties....he had the entire locker.
Utterly blessed to have seen him in his prime.
Utterly brilliant

Actually lads, I had the unbelievable honour of receiving a tweet from Robbie about a year ago.
A fan asked him "who was your favourite manager"
His reply was "Roy for the style of play which led to most of my goals, Souness for giving me a chance, and Rafa for Bringng me back"
I chipped in with a " there's a certain Frenchman missing there Robbie, ha ha"
And he took the time out to reply to me to say

@Ste_Carey nah... Didn't mind him too much, obviously wished I'd played under him a bit more, never let him down when I did play...

IVe a mate that went o Anfield for the Holland v Ireland match in 1994 where Holland thumped Ireland 2-0, and he met Robbie in the bar and Robbie said to him, " that's one of the best atmospheres i've ever witnessed at Anfield" after the Irish lads had been beaten and the fans belted out " fields of athenry
Mate was Dead chuffed he was

not exactly true though is it.as good as fowler was for a while he went through a period, like owen did, where could not score with an open goal and was missing total sitters.

At the end, he went in my opinion, at the right time, he was not the force he was in his earlier years.
Same as Torres, their best years were served in front of the kop

Kinel anything for the negative slant aey RM - you show me a striker in the world that has never had a lean spell or missed sitters and I will show you a liar ;)

Why can't you embrace all those wonderful goals and memories that we were blessed to witness from God durring his career with us?

We as a club have had some oustanding forwards down the years and Robbie is certainly in the top 5 of all time Liverpool goal scorers.

Imagine those chances we've been creating only with Robbie getting on the end of em.
