Charlie Adam insists a summer switch to Liverpool held no fear for him, with his rapid rise allowing him to fulfil his footballing dreams. The Scotland international secured a move to Anfield following a protracted transfer saga that first saw him linked with the club in January. Blackpool refused to sanction a sale in the New Year, as they battled for their Premier League lives, but Adam eventually got his move. The 25-year-old admits he has come a long way in a short space of time, but the former Rangers man is delighted to be turning out for one of the most prestigious clubs in world football. "I wasn't fearing coming here. I looked at coming to Liverpool as an honour and a privilege to represent this club. It wasn't a fear," Adam told the Daily Mirror. Quality "If I had any doubts, I could have sat at Blackpool for four or five years. "I wanted to come here and play at this level. It was a no-brainer. While other clubs are big clubs, Liverpool is one of the biggest clubs in the world. "Maybe the first couple of weeks you are overawed a little bit with the quality of the players here. "At the end of the day I had only played in the Premier League for one season and you come up against people like Stevie [Gerrard], Dirk [Kuyt], Luis [Suarez] - established, top-class players. "Now though, they are team-mates. That is how I look at it. "There has been a rapid rise in my career since I left Rangers, but I have always aimed for an opportunity to play regularly for a club of this stature, and I want to continue doing that." Smile Adam has bought into the Liverpool philosophy since arriving on Merseyside and admits he is loving every minute of his time with the Reds. He added: "I love it. When I hear the name 'Liverpool' it brings a smile to my face and that is why I am delighted to be here. "I'm not one for waking up in the morning, but since I've been here I'm up at quarter past seven, looking forward to training. I just love being at this club. "When I was at Blackpool, it helped that I only lived 15 minutes down the road. We had to be in for 10am and I would be getting up at quarter past nine. "Here, I'm getting up early because there's a buzz and a feel-good factor about coming in." |
