Craig Bellamy believes he is better prepared to be a success at Liverpool this season than he was during his first spell with the club. The Wales international returned to Anfield over the summer after being granted a free transfer by Manchester City. He had options to consider, but made it clear that Liverpool were always his preferred destination. They say you should never go back, but Bellamy feels he still has unfinished business to attend to after lasting just one season on Merseyside back in 2006/07. "This now feels right, this is everything I wanted from the first time I was here," said Bellamy. "My gut feeling last time was that it was not quite right but I ended up signing just because it was Liverpool. "The way Liverpool are playing now is what I grew up with, and the opportunity to be part of that was too big a deal to turn down." Bellamy was also given the opportunity to join Tottenham on transfer deadline day, but insists his heart was set on Liverpool the moment he was made aware of their interest. He said: "My agent had to give me the options and he laid them out on the table for me to make my choice between Tottenham and Liverpool. "He was doing his job and then Kenny (Dalglish) rang him up and gave him an almighty mouthful about me coming here and him spoiling it. "I knew straight away Kenny really wanted me here and was desperate for me to come to Liverpool. "It just showed his desire and straight away I was like, 'Get the Liverpool deal done'. "I don't believe you should return, go back to your old clubs, but this is Liverpool and I could never have walked away from this opportunity." |
