yes we all know bellamy's situation and fully understand it but to drop maxi and bring back downing could be a massive mistake and sendung the wrong message out to players coming in and doing well and then getting dropped angry.gif i hope it works for kenny today but should downing not perform again then kenny will deserve every bit of critisism he might get should we not get a good result .my opinion has always been you get the shirt play well and you keep it but the message of you knever know when your going to be playing even if you have been poor for weeks isnt a healthy message

i dont know what to expect from this line up. only suarez has pace in attack. kuyt, lucas, adam, downing, henderson are not too pacy.
carroll off the bench could be a good threat.
surprised maxi has been dropped. he had a good understanding with suarez.

i strongly feel an MF with henderson, lucas and adam lacks balance and is weak. i feel we are going to struggle.

no pace in that side at all (suarez apart) but my biggest worry is players not keeping there place after playing well its not the right message to send out to the players as i said initially.

i reckon hendo could play in the middle in front of lucas and switch in and out with dirk?

Prefer him in the middle too.
With a five man midfield he may be given license to roam anyways.

Is someone suggesting Maxi injects more pace into a game than either Downing or Henderson. I suggest you all need a brain exchange. I reckon the reason Maxi was not playing against City is his lack of pace. Plian and simple.
Dowing and Henderson both contributed well to the match and we should applaud the entire team for a solid effort.
To respond to the post title, I am surprised with the number of overall changes in the team, and particularly in the use of Kuyt to support Suarez. Would it have been Bellamy? THink Carroll would have done better, but Kenny obviously wanted to flood the midfield.
People have short memories on Maxi an how shit people thought he was 12 mnths back. Now he's the knight in shinign armour. Not a commentary on Maxi, just some of the tripe you read on here at times.

maybe in the future, but at the moment i feel we are putting a sq peg in a round hole with henderson.

while i agree maxi has little pace but what he can do is score a goal and shoot were as downing cant ,i am certain had maxi played we would of won that game or at the very least had more shots on target cos downing had three or four and the only one that hit the target was the one he miss hit into the ground.

Maxi's goal at CHelsea was also mishit but it went in. Plenty people would have been ready to rubbish him had Cech saved his effort, or he hit the fucking bar with it again.
Downing and Henderson had a contribution on Sunday and the team was unlucky not to win. I was more disappointed with the manner in which we approached teh first half than anything individual players did.
Rather moot to suggest any player would have turned the game. Certainkly Maxi. No disrespect intended.

must disagree with you on downing he had three or four shots and they all missed by miles apart from the miss hit one and didyou see downing get down the line once ???????? i know i didnt ,did you see downing put some great crosses into the box ????????????? i didnt ,the one thing maxi does is hit the target and either scores or works the keeper thats what we are missing big time .

Downings shootin was fucking abysmal mate. His goal contribution is non existant. i am not a fan. Regardlesss, his contribution otherwise was pretty decent. So was Hendersons. Our first half tactics were questionable for me.
I certainly don't think you can go around saying Maxi would have won the game for us.

Really !!??? I seem to recall him hittng the fucking bar on an empty net from 5 yards at the very same ground. You have a short memory. Again, not a commentary on Maxi.

maxi is not that good. he had a good run towards the end of last season but overall hasnt contributed much. he is guilty of missing sitters. his finish against chelsea was good though. after that game, i felt he should have remained in the team by merit.

I suppose the point I am trying to make here is that Maxi has been here what... I dunno..3-4 years or more? Only now is he getting anywhere near the support from fans that you seem to want to give him, and rightly so. He's always been a gifted footballer, but lacking pace and, in my opinion, treated harshly by many reds fans, when all he's done is play within himself.
Now Downing's had 10-15 matches an you are ready to fucking hang him. Let's show a little of the fairness and patience we ought to have offered Maxi.
Again, no fan of Downing, and never have been, but he's what we have. For me, the team is improving weekly under Kenny and we're not losing, nor conceding many goals. We're a tough team to beat.
Think a bit of perspective is required. Bit of level headedness. Is that a word?

thats not the case mate i want players keeping there shirts when they do well and that goes for downing as well ,players go through stages of good and bad form downing wasgreat for england in his last game but for lfc he has been really poor of late and doesnt deserve to keep the shirt ,i hope that changes and he starts to produce but players need to know if there not doing enough they wont keep being picked as we have other players who deserve a chance.

That's Downing for you mate...... Frustrating player for me too. Off and on and often not int the match. Still think he did alright against City though. Good team performance all around.

Again, no fan of Downing, and never have been, but he's what we have. For me, the team is improving weekly under Kenny and we're not losing, nor conceding many goals. We're a tough team to beat. Think a bit of perspective is required. Bit of level headedness. Is that a word? Kenny Dalglish .... err Hollywood
thats not the case mate i want players keeping there shirts when they do well and that goes for downing as well ,players go through stages of good and bad form downing wasgreat for england in his last game but for lfc he has been really poor of late and doesnt deserve to keep the shirt ,i hope that changes and he starts to produce but players need to know if there not doing enough they wont keep being picked as we have other players who deserve a chance.
That's Downing for you mate...... Frustrating player for me too. Off and on and often not int the match. Still think he did alright against City though. Good team performance all around.
i agree the rest of the side were excellant mate it will be intresting to see if there up for the next league match as much
