Die-hard Reds
Was it just me or did we not look like the away team in that first half. Changed a fari bit in the second and City can blame a midweek european match for their drop in pace, but not the reds who tried in vain to take all 3 points.

Felt City looked far more comfortable in the first half and were at ease keeping a high line to rush the reds off the ball on more than one occasion. Meanwhile, we played very deep and allowed City the freedom of the first two thirds to fuck about with it.

I think this has a fair bit to do with the team we selected to be honest. Surprised to see Downing, Kuyt an Hendo all get a start. Certainly after last week. The Bellamy issue has been reported, but felt we could / should have shown a little more aventure either with our selection or tactics.

We gave City an awful lot of respect for me. Let's not forget that whikle they do have skilled players like Nasri and Silva, they are also well endowed with donkeys in Barry, Milner and Lescott. First half for me was a little ominous as City played very high and we looked willing to allow them the space/

Would have preferred we apprioached the game with an intent on winning and pressuring the opposition, and we clearly did not. Only when they tired in the second period did we look the better team, and perhaps that was the card Kenny was playing for. Still, we never used our bench at all and were hardly trying to go all out for the win unitl they went to 10 men. Bit disappointing not to have won the match, but we never were trying to win it from the off for me either.

Better than getting battered at home 6-1 I suppose.

Thought Lucas was one of our best players yesterday. Chucked himself about. In fairness, the entire team played well consdering the task. Still feel we could have pressed them higher. City are really not that good.

my thoughts exactly in the first half . felt a bit like an rh set up , basically allowing them the park to play football as they wanted. we only came to life when we went a goal behind .Although fair play to the lads they did respond in the right manor after the mancs goal and deserved all 3 points .

disapointed because it realy seemed kenny had learnt that playing those 4 together will never produce the desired results.

Very cautious from my point of view. I still think our team can beat anyone, but we've surely got to be aggressive at Anfield. We looked the away team in the first 45 minutes.

Fancy Carroll was ripe for this encounter though it is becoming more risky to play him the more he sits on his 35 million quid arse.

Still can't fault any player performances. Thought Lucas had his best game yet. I even think Henderson did alright considering the opposition and contrary to many posters on here. Downing was alright at times too, but him and Kuyt have to put away those chances. Carroll came on and did a job in 5 minutes. Reckon he would have freed up an otherwise quiteish Suarez. Luis still played well mind, but why play Kuyt over Carroll. Both are just as inept with their control, and about the same pace. Carroll is more menacing in the air.

Obviously Kuyt was on for his defence and harrying, but he offers fuck all in the last 3rd to worry half decent defenders. Could have given Carroll 30 minutes to find his range. We were on top in the last quarter, but I sensed Kenny reluctant to make the change and go for it.....

My 2 bits

PS Carroll would likely have buried the 2 chances Downing scuffed.

Well, on the other hand, we just drew with a team that battered United 6-1 at Old Trafford.

Still good performances on the park by all players. Just tactically not sound for me. Never pressed high enough up the pitch. Let City dictate the early going. Never had enough to see them off. Carroll on much too late. Players not to blame for the tactics. THey all played decent in my opinion.

Just a nervy early half. At some point, we're going to have to see what we're made of and go for these games.

yes,but i felt the game was there to win.city had a few good chances..one off the line but realy they are not as good as made out...lescotte supplying the own goal i requested from him.
lets see in the next league game wether they raise the performance bar .hopefully will be the case but its too unpredictable to say they will..they could just as easy slump to poor perfomances again.
