Shelvey has been recalled from his loan spell at Blackpool. The timing is interesting because all the reports are that Kenny has recalled him because of the injury to Lucas. However Shelvey is not a DM. In fact he is more an attacking midfield player - so has been brought back as cover for Lucas or Gerrard or just to make up the numbers in midfield.

I think he's taking some precautions mate. We have Lucas out for the season, and who knows how long for Gerrard. If Adam/Spearing or Henderson were to fall too then we'd be very thin on the ground.

And the way jonjo's playing at the moment now would be a great time for him to come and stake his claim.

He was due back anyway and he(jonjo) had asked for an extension to the loan the other week before Lucas got his injury...

I know Kenny said he won,t but i,d like to see Aquaman called back{if possible}.Not to use as a dm but as midfield cover.

The terms of the loan deal with Aquaman won't allow him to be recalled until January, pity !

He plays almost every game for Milan. Wont be interested sitting on the bench here i guess.

As Danny said the deal won,t allow it but i could,nt see the point of doing it if we could then having him sit.

Shelvey is not a defensive midfielder his game is more going forward so don't really expect to see him in Lucas's position

why do we need a defensive midfielder against fulham and QPR ?????? adam and henderson should be our midfield two for me and when we play a top side we should give kuyt a go at playing the holding role as i think with his energy he could do well in that position.

his work rate is first class danny and thats one of the main attributes you need as a holding player and thats why lucas struggled in his first couple of years as his work rate wasnt good enough but he has got much better and for me kuyt could do the job maybe not as good as lucas but certainly better than anyone else bar agger maybe .my main point is we dont need to play with a holding player week in week out .

Take your point Baz but don't think his tackling's the best, I'd put Henderson in against Fulham, think it's the right type of opposition for him and we all need to see how he would perform in his supposedly best position

henderson isnt a holding player but i agree against fulham he will be fine along side adam as we need more creativeness against the lower sides and dont need a holding player.
