4th place might not be enough

If Man U, Chelsea and Man C fail to reach the next round of CL this might damage our chances for CL football next year. England might get three instead of four alocated places( at present). Would you support any of the above mentioned teams on tue/wed just to increase our chance of reaching euro football?

can the 4th spot be removed straight away? i would have thought it were results over a period of time?

For once, JB is right ;)

The coefficients are taken over a number of years (either 3 or 5 I think), and given that we have had a number of semi-finalists and finalists in that time, I think the 4 places are safe enough.

Fourth place certainly can't be removed for next season at this stage, and it goes on a five year basis does it not? It would take another few bad years for a place to be taken away. I believe Germany still has four places, despite winning nothing for many years, and only Bayern getting to the latter stages in recent years.

England are currently top of the coefficient over the past 5 years, and are even top for this year. They are also the only country who currently have all teams still in European competition, having started with the most teams in it. Nothing to worry about.

Top four is beyond our capability? Given that only one of the current top 4 has beaten us, while we've beaten two of last year's top 4 away from home, and drawn with the other two.

Win tonight and we're only two points off fourth. Beyond our capability? Nope.

Haven't lost in a dozen or so matches. Consistent enough for me.....

Still - we have to be putting the sword to teams like Fulham. We'll see who shows up tonight.

I picked up on the rhyming 'best/rest' comment, Baza, and I my hopes were raised for you for just an instant. Then you ruined it all by repeating it, showing that you have little confidence that anyone is actually reading the drivel you write. Mostly, you are correct; a lot of the readers just skip over your posts when they see your pen name. But not myself, Baza. I took on your self-improvement programme knowing it was going to be tough to get the quality up to where somebody might actually start to read what you write, but I don't give up easily, as I love a challenge.

you can go unbeaten all season and get relegated hollywood ,its winning games that counts mate and we dont win enough against the lower teams as the players dont seem able to get up for these type of games like they do for the top 5 or 6 teams .

in your opinion ,in my opinion we are not ;) a few good signings in jan could change my opinion if we get a good winger and a clinical striker that is a must .

How are we not as consistent as Chelsea? They have lost 5 out of their last 10.

How many have we lost in our last 10?
