Men against boys last night unfortunately. Spains passing was immense

True Hughie.

Gave us a proper masterclass in football, and its sore that we are the first to be eliminated. Reminded me of the Spain of old; great in qualifying, but disintegrated when the Tournament came along.

The Irish fans were simply awesome last night, as they always are. They did their country proud, unlike the Team has. But to end our time in Poland a win against the Italians would pave the way for some kind of redemption.

I don't see why some are getting on the manager back. He did an outstanding job getting them qualified in the first place.

Does anyone honestly think that Ireland are a better team than Croatia, Spain or Italy? Of course they aren't, so to slag the man off for them not beating teams that are better than them is madness.

My mates brother is over there for all three games and is just enjoying it for what it is and is having a great time. Shame that ridiculous expectations is ruining it for others.

any football fan with a brain know the FAI made the wrong choice in extending traps' contract. they have sold themselves for the short term gain of getting to euro12, watch this team crumble now, too many old players, rigid defensive system and a manager who can't/won't play young players.

Anyone with a football brain knows Ireland are lucky to have a manager like Trapattoni.

To a point i definitely agree. Better than the Brian Kerrs and Stan Stauntons of this world. What pisses people off is the lack of intergration of youth players into the side and the inabilty to change the laboured unimaginitive way we play. I cannot fathom playing Mcgeady last night. The guy is woeful. Form players like Long and McClean should surely have gotten a look in.

Granted we are worse than Spain and Croatia (no brainer obviously) but there has to be some element of confidence in the side. To concede at the times we have in the tournament (2 goals in first 4 minutes, one goal just before half time, two goals just after half time) really was a sickner.
