The philosophy of the manager stank to high heaven. Players like McCkean., Long and Gibson should have started and the likes of Seamus Coleman and McCarthy need to be introduced for the next campaign. Trap needs to let the players of the shackles and express themselves. Far too rigid and conservative. Limited bunch. New blood needed

I agree the Paddy's were unlucky. Played well against Italy & in the second half against Croatia. Ireland can be proud of what their team and Manager achieved.

I however will be supporting Steven Gerrard, Glen Johnson, Andy Carroll, Steward Downing, Jordan Henderson & Martin Kelly tomorrow night

How the hell can a team that plays 3, lost 3, coneded 9 and scored just 1 and acculimated a total of 0 points be considered unlucky.

But hey, you did better than the Welsh & Scots.

It was an achievement for Ireland getting there, but they've every right to expect a better performance when they get there.

England's big achievement will be getting out of the group, which it looks like they'll do now. Spain or Italy in the next round if they get through is it?

I really don't rate Gibson Adamski. Lazy sod.

Fair point Hughie. He's no world beater. That's for sure. My reasoning being, he's probably a better option than the woeful Andrews and Whelan. Worst midfield the Irish have ever had. Technically inept, no control of the football and lacking when it comes to defensive nous too. Ireland were in a poor group and finished 2nd. We got lucky with a play off against Estonia. Handy draw. Trap was loyal to a lot of the players that got him there. He's far too negative and rigid. He doesn't embrace skill or imagination. His philosophy was all wrong. Even in qualifying he never deviated. Ball retention was shocking. You can get away with it against Slovakia and Estonia. No hiding place at the Euros. The punishment factor is mighty.

Agree on that. I like the bite that Andrews and Whelan bring to midfield though. We have no other options in there in my book. James Mcarthy is more of an AM. My main problem is with McGeady and Duff (love the lad but he looks jaded). McGeady has got to be the worst player to regularly start for us (and i include John Sheridan in that).

Would much prefer a team of

Given
Coleman Dunne St Ledger Ward (no other options really)
Whelan Andrews
Pilkington McClean
Walters Long

I'd also have a look at Wes Hoolahan at Nowich. Very good footballer. He can see a pass and can keep the ball unlike a lot of the present bunch. Agree on Pilkington too. McClean and Long are the future. Agree on Ward. Not convinced he's upto this level. Shame we have no other option.

Would be hard to find a position for Hoolihan and Mcarthy if we are to play two up top IMO. Ledger probably played better than Dunne in the poland.

Marge: Homey, are you really going to ignore Grampa for the rest of your life?
Homer: Of course not, Marge. Just for the rest of his life. He said I was an accident, he didn't wanna have me.
Marge: You didn't wanna have Bart.
Homer: I know, but you're never supposed to tell the child.
Marge: You tell Bart all the time. You told him this morning.
Homer: But when I do it, it's cute.
