As many have said, its the lack of defending from midfield thats as big an issue. How poor a performance from Henderson and Winjaldum was that tonight? Grujic I wont include as he was new to the set up.
Henderson is just a very poor player. Has done little throughout his lfc career but for our Suarez led 2nd place. The rest has been mostly awful.
I watched him closely for a while tonight and found myself screaming at him to stop taking the easy sideways and backward pass. Terrible in his current role. Offers nothing totheteam, and should not bebe our captain.

When Henderson arrived here he was trying to play penetrative passes into space, but soon realised that nobody was anticipating them and running into the spaces where he wanted to play the ball. This was making him look worse than really he was and unnerved him. He then realised that he had to adapt to our style and play the ball to static feet. He learned this too well and now his game is almost all sideways and backward passes, with just the occasional inspired forward or raking cross- field ball. Ditto with England. Sad, really...

For me we are starting to do what Evans did and passing ourselves to death, sometimes that's a good thing when you know you have a side that continually find their man, we have started passing with no end product, we are starting to try to pass the ball into the net, the chances we have which are many are not good chances, in fact in the last 5 games all the teams have had better chances than we had, about a tenth of the amount but better quality, even Burnley and Palace. and it isn't money as teams who have spent little create at least a couple of decent chances, Teams now let us have the ball, that's the game plan because we find it hard to penetrate ( If only KY gel could solve it) and we will give away stupid chances. it's now a given.

Klopp is still in denial about the situation. Hopefully the brown trouser post game interview was a rude awakening.... And he starts putting a shift in.

Hendo must be stripped of the captaincy. It is needed for not only football reasons... But also as a signal to show the end of a mediocre era.

It's an interesting point, and you might just have spotted something. Henderson has usually been decent in the past about getting balls in behind defences at times, but seems to have misplaced that. Temporarily, I hope. I can't see that Oxlade's arrival is actually going to help that, because he seems more of a runner from deep. Henderson actually had a really good start to last season, I thought, but then we lost him through his foot problems. He hasn't got it back, at least yet. Nobody is saying anything, but I can't help but speculate about his injury problem.
As a sidebar on not getting the best out of good plays, I feel that we are not getting the best out of the wing-play of Robertson, Moreno, TAA, and Gomez. We seem to be fizzing crosses into the penalty area on a regular basis without anyone getting decent contact on them. With our speedy forwards, I have to wonder why we don't seem to have enough one-touch plays in and around the six yard box from these forward runs.

We are bombarding the opposition with crosses from left and right but the 5 footers upfront can not reach them. At Dortmund JK had Lewandowski , here he has nobody. We might be shortest team in the prem....probably thats why defending set pieces always has been a big problem. We have one toll lad but he isnt jumping....

That is pretty much true and you have a point, when we had proper strikers like Torres we had extra height at set pieces, it was noted that we won 0% of crosses into the box against Leicester although to be fair there was less crosses than usual, we hear it all the time "free header in the box" but even agreeing with you it doesn't answer the fact we look like a bunch of girls flapping around treating the ball like a bad fart, the second goal against Leicester (as well as it was struck, and it was very well struck) was a disgrace for a premiership team to concede, you cannot afford to give space like that, it wasn't like he waltzed past 3-4 men and shot, we conceded the space to allow him into a position to shoot, If I was Klopp that goal would have decided the fate of several players and January won't come quick enough.

Today I read we won the fair play cup and that's telling.....when have you seen our players ganging up on the ref disputing decicions or squaring with oposition guys...never. We are so soft...there is no one with a pair of balls. Can you imagine Couts, Firmino, Salah, Matip or Moreno comi g to blows with anyone....there is no agression in this team. That's why we get bullied so easy.

Henderson and Can both say their piece when they have to, Can tending to do it a bit too much. I would hate to see our team ganging up on the referee in the Chelsea manner when John Terry was captain, as a cynical ploy at intimidation. Ref's have tightened up on it these days, in any case. We are not really getting bullied yet, although that is likely to be a problem against Man. U. and Spurs.

Getting your head on crosses is not the only way to convert, although some teams are good at it. If we had a Morata or Ibra, it would add to the threat, but we don't. Maybe one day, with Solanke. Heading ability, or lack of, doesn't seem to bother Aguero at all. He regularly gets in behind defences at the near or far post to claim the goal. De Bruyne, Silva, and the wingbacks seem to be able to find him there at will. For all of the crosses we whip in from the wingbacks, and it happens a lot, we don't seem to have players getting in behind in the Aguero manner. Firmino, Coutinho, Salah, Solanke, and others like Can and Henderson, could be doing a lot more to take advantage of those numerous crosses that are played through from wide. Suarez did it for us not long ago. Lewandowski and Muller do it along the ground or in the air. Firminho has done it occasionally for us, but seems to have mislaid that play, hopefully only temporarily. Solanke almost got one against Burnley, but needs to keep it going more often. Anticipation needs to be better all round. We can't keep relying on Coutinho's spectacular bombs from outside the box, and Salah's curlers and tap-ins.

Solanke needs a run of games. He is a real gem but with 5 min here and there it will take him forever if he doesn't go down the drain by then like many others.

It's the perennial problem, how to nurse the kids along. You want them to grow, but you don't want to sacrifice too much playing time, especially when you need a steady hand out there, and your are looking for goals. You have to pull them out fast when it gets overwhelming, and you can't play too many kids on the same team. Right now Klopp is forced to play TAA and Gomez, and that in itself is a stretch. The Carabao Cup is now history, so I think Solanke will have to settle for coming off the bench for a while. Hopefully he has the talent and patience to deal with it. Until injuries and the FA Cup come our way, that is.

Can only blame the defence so much baz.... The blame really lies with klopp who deems the good enough.

Let me just say this, any manager who run the rule over a team that plays defense like tha doesn't deserve to keep a job. As a matter of fact, no selfrespecting manager would allow a team they manage to consistently play defense like that.

I would give Solanke a run of games....5 at least. See Rashford at MU...he is improving every game...

That still won't solve those defensive cock ups. No solution at the moment. Just put it down to a useless CB partnership and wait until January and this time by a bloody top rated defender and not just wait in case Van Djik s avaulable.

No coach on the planet can turn Lovren or Klavan into quality defenders and Matip isn't that much better either.

In all competitions this far ( 12 games total ) team has conceded 20 goals. Season's ambitions will be gone way before January if this continues.

Tell Klopp to find a defense that's representative of a Premier League team, or get the fuck out here.

I honestly think this is the most badly informed opinion I have seen you write over the years penketh.

Henderson was never going to be any good at lfc...he was and still is a sunderland level player.

were you get the great passes from I do not know...he is a basic shell of a player..a professional ..but all proffesionals can do basic stuff...the best do it often and regulary. Henderson is a massive part of the problem at lfc.

Can't understand for the life of me how plenty of millions of pounds are spent on midfielders the last few years , take your choice from Lallana, Wijnaldum, Chamberlain, Firmino too was a Attacking mid at Hoffenheim and wingers like Mane, Salah, strikers like Benteke, Balotelli etc but when it comes to defenders and keepers , we'll forget about it. On the cheap or freebies.

Last 5 years this team conceded goals for fun in the PL , onthe counter, from set pieces, unforced errors etc. you name it as the bumbling and stumbling keeper and back 4 are very creative on how to concede cheap goals.

Matip was a freebie
Klavan , Gomez, cost almost nothing
Clyne and Moreno , Robertson all were modest fees and wages
Only big buy was the horrible, Lovren.
Mognolet cost £ 9 mil 5 years ago and he's still the bloody starter. They bought £ 4 million , Karius to challenge him.

This is not how rival teams go about their business.
