I tell people all the time and I will continue to say it, it's not all about the players, it's mostly about the way they are coached. In my opinion, individually, Lovren and Matip are no worse than Luiz and Cahill but even if they are, what you lack in talent you must make up for it with schemes. I knew Klopp didn't have a clue about coaching a defense when he played Milner at left back all of last season. He hasn't a clue defensively. |

How do you work that one out? Most supporters were in agreement last season that Milner did an excellent job at left back compared to the natural left back, Alberto Moreno? |

Because most fans are followers, the manager does something and most people hop on it because they think if the manager does it so it must be right. James Milner had a hand in more than half the goals we conceded while he was on the pitch last year...all by himself. |

He also put the majority of our penalties away, nah, Milner did majestically compared to Moreno this season.... <_< |

@ Mycroft. If I say to you, there was once a manager who benched his LB after 1 game of the season, he then played a right footed midfielder who happens to be his oldest and slowest (maybe second slowest) player in that position for the rest of the year. The next off season he bought a LB but when the season started it was the guy he benched after 1 game last season who was the starting LB and the new LB he bought can't even make the squad. What would you say? Does the guy making those decisions sounds like he knows what the fuck he's doing? |

But WHO IS -as you say- 'the guy making those decisions' afterall? IMO I definitely expect a great manager to fix the majority of squad problems in one summer transfer window -WITHOUT one arm tied behind his back. That's what separates great managers from mediocrity. However, with our transfer budget AND clowns in scouting & transfer departments that might be impossible even for a great manager!? Not in one summer transfer window, not in three, maybe not in a hundred even, & then Klopp just cant go public on these matters either can he!? |

The big question is, is THE FUCKING TRANSFER COMMITTEE INVOLVED? At the moment it would seem their fingerprints are all over our transfer window

ANY MANAGER would sign a whopping great contract extension-with or without TC conditions- as is the case with ALL FSG's sporting franchises, that they have a TC at the helm to share selection of transfef targets. |

I think ppl are clutching at embarrassing straws. Klopp was premium... He came here on a 3 year contract. He said he had final say on all transfers. Then he signed a 7 year contract. Meanwhile.... The same problems klopp inherited remained to this day. We had one purple patch of super attacking football... Which lasted 6 months.... And nothing since....and klopp is living off this still! Our attack is exaggerated.... Team is unbalanced... Still have the same problems..... Klopp has not signed players we actually need.... Klopp signed some incompetent players in winaldum et al.... Fsg backed all previous managers.... With significant funds..... There is nothing to suggest klopp as not been backed..... We went in with huge bids on players klopp wanted with no success..... And klopp had no contingency plans.... Nothing to do with fsg..... All to do with klopp..... Fsg could have sold couts.....amazing £100mil could have been pocketed with little effort... But backed klopps decision to keep him.... Fsg have no input on coaching... Tactics... Subs.... It's all klopp..... The best managers do things their way... They are not yes men...if people are suggesting klopp is towing the party line... Then that makes him incompetent.... But in reality.... Klopp is doing things his way.... And his approach is ineffective.... Klopp is arrogant and stubborn..... |

Do you, or anybody you know tell the truth all the time? Would anybody of sound mind tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth, to the media? Would the mainstream media know what to do with the truth? Do you like me and all of us pick only what we want from the information supplied to us? Particle physicists now believe existence is information - are they wrong? Why am I becoming all philosophical? Is it the best way to be a Liverpool fan in these times? A diet of HOPE and philosophy? Irrespective of all other shit and conjecture the Transfer Committee's fingerprints ARE ON that fucking window! |

LIVERPOOL TURNED DOWN CHANCE TO SIGN TWO TOP-CLASS DEFENDERS Liverpool fans will not be happy with reports coming out of Europe today suggesting Jurgen Klopp turned his nose up at the signing of two top-class defenders this season. The Reds spent the majority of the summer chasing, unsuccessfully as it panned out, Virgil van Dijk, with Southampton simply refusing to sell them the Dutchman. However, reports in Holland claim Liverpool did have alternative targets lined up – with Ajax’s Davinson Sanchez among the other players they looked at, claims De Telegraaf. The powerful Colombian defender of course went on to sign for Spurs in a £42million deal – and the player has looked an astute piece of business in Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Furthermore, it’s also claimed in Italy that the Reds also passed up the chance to sign Kalidou Koulibaly. The Senegalese star’s name was circulated to Liverpool, but only if they paid Napoli’s £57million asking price – less than the sum they were apparently willing to pay for Van Dijk. However, Klopp also passed up the chance to sign Koulibaly to focus on efforts to land Van Dijk – efforts which ultimately came to nothing. With Liverpool’s defensive failures once again under question this season, the decision not to sign either of these two defenders will further anger their frustrated supporters. |

relagation form from EOTK For the first time in 80 years, Liverpool have conceded more than ten goals in our first four away league games. If this wasn’t bad enough, only two Premier League teams have conceded more: the hilariously poor Crystal Palace who’ve almost relegated themselves already, and West Ham – who are set for a season in the bottom half themselves. In contrast, our supposed rivals at the top of the table, Manchester United and Manchester City, have let in just two apiece. In all competitions, we’ve let in 20 goals. That’s not bad luck. That’s appalling for a club with trophy aspirations. The central defenders are regularly savaged by pundits and fans alike, but our options at fullback are far inferior to other teams chasing top four spots, too. Alberto Moreno is improved, but still irresponsible, while Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold are youngsters – with Nathaniel Clyne out until after Christmas. Simon Mignolet is decent, but he’s nowhere near as strong as David de Gea, Thibaut Courtois, Ederson or Hugo Lloris. But for whatever reason, this is our situation – and will continue to be so until next summer. Let’s hope the attack can find its shooting boots again. |

The situation with the back four reminds me of an AA ( alcoholic anonymous) meeting Unless you admit/accept having a problem ( shitty defence in our case) , you will never overcome/beat this problem..... |

what I do not get is why the hell chase a player that was long time out injured..he is still not fully back..only substitute..in a now seemingly struggling saints team...he may not look so decent anymore once he is fully back. |

I don't think that transfer money in individuals tells the whole story by a long shot. I think that Matip was a Bosman cooked up a year before by the player and Klopp. Rather like the interference with Can by Juve. The transfer fee is off kilter when you address young players who still have to develop. Part of the cost is in the errors they make, the points and goals they sacrifice, while they are doing it. Part of the cost also is in the risk that they might not actually develop as expected; then you lose most of the investment as they get farmed out to lower placed clubs. Gomez and Karius need experience before we know how good they actually are. The reason we do it is because we can't actually go head to head with clubs whose owners have bottomless pockets, as we well know. |
