This wasn't the first time Thor and Hinokath had tried to visit. But every time they came, no matter how many gifts Thor brought, it seemed M'ki was always out. Hinokath insisted he was avoiding them and they should leave him be. Thor thought that was ridiculous. They were family now. And you didn't avoid family. Thor banged on the door. Again. This time he had brought a hammer, like his own, only smaller, that he could show M'ki how to use. It was fine Asgardian work, a fitting weapon for the rider of Hinokath's only child, "M'ki of White Torikoth. I, Thor of Blue Hinokath, call upon you in the name of friendship and our shared ties." He brought you a hammer. No matter what he says- it's a bribe. "It is not a bribe. I would never pursue any course so dishonorable. It is a gift, to welcome you to our clan." Again...we don't have a clan. "Of course we do! Me, you, Loki and Rivoth, Valkyrie and Ielleth, Lord Odin, Sif and Belgaerth and now M'ki and Torikoth. Those are ties enough to be called by such a name." |

M'ki had definitely been avoiding Thor. The man seemed nice enough, and maybe even someone that he would get along with, in a weird way. That said, the man was also a stranger--and an overbearing, overaffectionate stranger, who kept trying to aggressively befriend him (or do whatever Thor was doing). He'd avoided being in places too easy to find, ever since Thor seemed so...determined. It wasn't like him to run away, he told himself, but Thor didn't seem the sort to respond to his attempts to push the man away. Unfortunately, M'ki was in his quarters. Fortunately, he could still pretend he wasn't there. Give him a chance? Torikoth asked. It was rare for him to use words, but...he really thought that his bonded would benefit from more friends. M'ki was so lonely, after all...maybe this Thor-man would be good for his rider! M'ki was stubborn, though, as he listened to Thor--and then Hinokath. It would be hard to avoid them...what could he say, he didn't hear Hinokath? That his brain wasn't on? And besides...the bribe somewhat worked. He was intrigued. A gift? A hammer? Maybe he could give Thor a chance...but just once. Finally, M'ki opened his door, eyeing Thor suspiciously. Torikoth cheerfully poked his head out, crooning to them in greeting, following his greeting with an affectionate rumble, and a curious chirp. "What do you want?" M'ki asked, wary. This man was definitely overwhelming. Even his chatter before M'ki had opened the door was enough to prove that. |

"M'ki!" Thor yelled an enthusiastic greeting as he shook M'ki's hand with all due vigor, "And the young Torikoth! What a fine pair you two make! It is an honor to see you again, good rider, fair white. May I come visit you in your abode?" This rider seemed quite small, but surely he was hearty if Torikoth had chosen him. The white was Hinokath's offspring after all and surely possessed some of her judgment, "I do indeed come bearing gifts and accompanied by the most honored Hinokath, who wishes an audience with her offspring." Uh...hi... Hinokath tried a bit awkwardly as she peered down at the white. Really? She'd made that? How had she done that again? She really couldn't remember... And what was she supposed to do with him? He'd apparently come from an egg that had come from inside her and yet she knew nothing about him or what to say to him. Whatever knowledge other parents, human or draconic had, she seemed to lack it. It's...uh...nice to see you again, Torikoth. I'm Hinokath...Your mother. It sounded odd to her own ears. She was a blue, not meant to be a mother. But then here he was, clearly in front of her and clearly existing. Hinokath didn't believe in denying reality. |

There Thor went, invading M'ki's personal space. For a second, M'ki just stared and let the man do his thing, but after a moment, he shook the hand back, awkwardly. His grip was firm and confident, even if M'ki wasn't very confident right now (or ever). He grimaced. He shouldn't have opened the door. "What gift?" M'ki said, reluctantly, but curiously. "She said a hammer?" The young man looked over to Hinokath, giving a respectful, if not begrudging, nod. He'd rather not be here right now, to tell the truth. Torikoth was pleased to see his mother. She was nice, and she was his mother! He chirped in response, sending Hinokath a burst of curious affection. He wanted to know everything about his mother, and was glad that she and her rider had come to visit! Oh, but maybe he had to...speak? He wasn't especially fond of doing so, but his mother seemed kind of...was she nervous? What was wrong? Mother! he said with a croon, as much of a greeting as she would get. M'ki gave him a mental nudge, encouraging him. "He doesn't like to talk, so much. So you have to sharding deal with that." M'ki said, before pausing. "But I can tell you what he's trying to say." Torikoth relaxed a little. Leave it to his rider to know the right things to say to help calm down his mother! "Anyways...I guess it's fine if you come in." M'ki was reluctant, but he wasn't really sure how to say no...and besides, Torikoth seemed happy. The little white nearly tripped over his own feet, trying to scoot out of the way, but the pair made room for Thor and Hinokath. Edited by Sari, May 18 2018, 12:49 PM.

"Oh right! Your hammer!" Thor said as he hoisted the warhammer in question into the air. It was a fine weapon. A bit puny but then...So was M'ki. He flipped it around and held it out so M'ki could wrap his hand around the hilt, "It is a tool fit for an honorary warrior of Asgard. Which you are, since my father is lord and you ride my dragon's son...I think...I never was particularly good at the protocol...Well, regardless, it's yours if you'll have it." Hinokath rolled her eyes as she stepped inside, careful not to hit Torikoth with her tail. Had she ever been so small? She imagined she must have...A miracle Thor had bounded around as he did without breaking her. She gently crouched down so they were at eye level as she said, Yes. You're not much for words? I suppose you truly are your own dragon...That was never something your father or I lacked. But that's all right. There's no need to blather constantly. You learn more by thinking and listening. Thor frowned. It did seem quite irregular but what of it? Hinokath was a female blue which wasn't much less strange, "So long as you two are content and fly strong and win many victories, there's no need for words. He shall forge his legend through action." Thor didn't wait for further invitation to step inside, "So what do you two require? We can help obtain armor and clothes and good food. I'm not precisely sure what our duty is as the mother of your dragon but we will fulfill it all the same!" They really ought to have covered that in lessons earlier. Because Thor had no wish to accidentally dishonor himself. |

Bribery didn't work on him. Bribery didn't work on him. Bribery didn't work on him. Bribery didn't--okay, he couldn't help but feel a little bribed. Just a little. It was a really, really awesome hammer. M'ki always considered himself more of a sword-appreciating guy, but...he had a fondness for weapons. He carefully took the weapon into his hand, marveling at it. Despite being a bit, well, vertically challenged, he was strong, stocky, and hearty, and lifted it with ease. He didn't technically know anything about using a warhammer, but he imagined he could learn. M'ki mostly only knew how to fight with his fists. He'd never really owned a weapon. Unless you counted a belt knife, or something. He could learn. Maybe...maybe he'd let this guy teach him. Thor seemed so keen on being in M'ki's life, which was kind of odd and unfamiliar, but maybe not that bad, and-- Oh. You want me to ask him, don't you? M'ki glanced at Torikoth, who chirped cheerfully. His bonded needed friends, after all. Because Torikoth was mostly nonverbal, sometimes Torikoth would 'tell' him things without words. It was much harder to distinguish between your thoughts and your dragon's thoughts when the mindvoice didn't clue you in, he found. Sighing, M'ki relented. "Alright...I guess if you really want to help, you can teach me how to use this." He gestured to the hammer. He wasn't really keen on the idea, but Torikoth thought it was a good idea. And...the guy didn't seem that bad. Overbearing, though. M'ki just hoped giving in like this would make it better, not worse. |

"Excellent!" Thor beamed at his acceptance as he thrust the hammer into his new friend's chest. They were already bonding! And he would help ensure this M'ki grew into his full potential as a rider worthy of Hinokath's only son, "I am most delighted to help you. Are you a dawn or a dusk person? Basic training is best done in full light but a versatile warrior trains under as many lighting conditions as he can." Thor didn't know very much. He fully acknowledged he wasn't the most erudite or learned of men. But he was a warrior of Asgard and he knew how to train warriors. This M'ki would become a legend, if he had any say in the matter. It was his sacred duty. Hinokath, meanwhile, watched her hatchling. She'd never heard a dragon chirp quite so much. Was it a hatchling thing? Were they meant to do that? Had she not spoken to him enough in the shell? Or was he simply not a talker? She sighed and settled on a single question, Are you happy? Because she'd learned enough from Thor to know that that was the heart of the matter. Edited by Arcane, Jun 27 2018, 12:06 PM.

M'ki accepted the hammer, as it was placed in his hands. Or, rather, shoved into his chest. He grit his teeth. Maybe this was an awful idea, but...Thor seemed so delighted. Genuinely delighted. Which was weird, because it was only M'ki. He wasn't anyone special, or anything. Why did Thor care so much? It seemed silly, but...he'd promised himself he'd give the man a chance. Just one, though. Probably. "Dusk," he grumbled. "Who sharding likes to be awake at forsk-early in the morning?" He wasn't sure that forsk-early was a proper time, but. Oh well. He probably should have been more worried about upsetting his new friend, maybe trying a gentler approach, but Torikoth's influence on him wasn't strong enough to change him completely. Very happy!" Torikoth replied. He loved his rider, and he loved all the playing they did together. He looked forward to being able to play with his mother and her rider, as well. His mother didn't seem happy with his quietness, even if he found himself to be quite vocal in the important ways, so he added, I want to learn, too. He looked over at M'ki's hammer, curiously inclining his head towards it. "How are you supposed to learn to do that, huh?" M'ki asked, but he grinned fondly at his dragon. ((Sorry if incoherent, very out of it lately, but wanted to get some posting done.)) |
