There was a bronzerider coming out of her sister's weyr. And it was indeed S'bor. Faranth...What did Tikra see in that guy? He wasn't hot at all- let alone sexy enough to justify the crazy. She rolled her eyes and walked right past him. He passed her with a brief nod and a "Took you long enough. Go visit your sister." She couldn't believe this was the guy- her wingleader and her sister's weyrmate. What was Tikra doing with her life? Gellera walked straight in without pausing to knock, as if it had been no time at all since she'd packed up and ran. She leaned back and raised an eyebrow, "Really, Tikra? Him? What were you thinking? You can do better." |

Tikra had intended to stay in her weyr after S'bor visited, perhaps have a nap. She was, therefore, rather less clothed than she would have been had she known she had guests. She yelped as someone walked in, turning bright red and pulling the covers up to her chin. About to unleash the righteous wrath of a lady whose privacy had been grossly invaded on the intruder, Tikra stopped short as she recognized said intruder. Well then. Not even a note sent ahead or anything. And Tuckal likely knew, considering she was responsible for transfers. Or worse, Blaze. "Hello to you too. Long time no see," Tikra said sourly, fumbling for her clothes over the side of the bed and wriggling into them under the covers. She got up once she had her dress back on, crossing the room and resuming her annoyance that Gellera was an inch taller than she was. "He's a proper bronzerider and a gentleman. Considering half the bronzeriders these days are women, and I am not interested in women, my choices for 'better' are very limited." |

"I didn't say bronzerider. I said better. Don't tell me you still think that's the same thing after all these turns," Gellera said with a roll of her eyes, taking in Tikra's disheveled state. Clearly, she was in fact forsking him. Which...ew. Just...ew, "Are you playing submissive to Tuck now just because she rides gold? Even though she's your baby sister? And what about me? Last I checked...blues outrank greens..." Gellera laughed at the very notion. Tikra was Tikra. She'd been outraged when Gellera had Impressed Virtrath at all, for all there'd been lady blueriders for generations. Of course she would shack up with a bronzerider because his dragon had a shiny hide. "Trust me...go looking outside the bronzeriders and you'll find better easily. Less arrogant too," Gellera suggested with a grin. She herself had a marked preference for greenriders. Edited by Arcane, Jun 8 2018, 09:59 AM.

Tikra huffed. "Tuckal's the Weyrwoman, but she's still my little sister. And so are you, so don't get any ideas." Honestly, why did she have to be shorter than both of them? It wasn't fair. And they both roundly insulted her perfectly fine romantic choices while sleeping with very questionable people. "It isn't the color of Yugoth's hide that made me fall in love with S'bor, thank you very much. You're just back, so you probably didn't hear yet, but there are a lot of Benden bronzeriders about these days. You wouldn't catch me with any of them, shiny hides or no shiny hides. Can't really say the same about Tuckal..." Tuckal and her tall blond bronzeriders. They would be the death of Tikra. "You should settle down with a nice bronzerider yourself. It'll do you good." |

Gellera laughed. Yes...Tikra still sounded like Tikra. Even if she was forsking the ugliest bronzerider in the weyr, "Wouldn't dream of it, sis. So long as you don't expect me to call that man brother-in-law. So are you guys...you know...weyrmates or just fooling around?" She knew what she'd HEARD but given who the guy was...she felt justified in being a bit doubtful. "Wait...wait...wait...you're telling me Tuckal actually DID hook up with Bendenite? Holy forsk!" Gellera fell into a fit of giggles. Her sisters just had the WORST taste in men, "THAT one I didn't really believe. Isn't she with Monty?" She snorted and waved off Tikra's suggestion, "Nah. Greenriders all the way. MUCH lower maintenance." |

Tikra huffed again. "Proper weyrmates, thank you very much. We have even discussed having a child together. Not that we would raise it, but it would know that we were its parents." And Tikra would visit as often as she could, show her child that its father was a proper bronzerider of Fort Weyr. She joined her sister's giggling. Finally, someone to talk to about Tuckal and her bronzeriders, none of which were Proper Gentlemen like S'bor. "Oh, didn't you hear? Monty left. Vacation, or some such. Anyway, she found another bronzerider soon enough. Tall blond Bendenite. Gino, I think his name is? He's hard to miss." Thankfully, he hadn't tried to flirt with Tikra yet. Probably because she avoided him. Being flirted with by someone your sister had forsked was just...ugh. Shaking her head, Tikra frowned. That settled it. "I'm going to find both you and Tuckal proper weyrmates. Bronzeriders - men, mind you - with manners. It's past time you both settled down." |

"Holy shards! You- YOU- are going to have a kid with HIM?" Gellera knew she was gaping but...who could blame her? Since when did Tikra even WANT kids? Let alone to breed with...well...with THAT! "Does Tuckal know?" Weyrmates was one thing. It wasn't like riders married the way holders did. But KIDS? "How long have you even known this man, Tikra? Have you ever HEARD how he talks? He thinks HARPERS are evil! HARPERS! And he's a TERRIBLE wingleader. I've had a lot and he's easily the worst!" Her eyes only went wider as Tikra told her about Tuckal. Forsk...She shouldn't have stayed away this long. Clearly her sisters could not in fact hold it together without her, "And Monty LEFT? By the First Egg! I've never met him but...I already hate him. Still...a Bendenite? I mean I've seen him around and he's hot but still...He's from BENDEN!" She backed up, hands in the air at Tikra's suggestion, "Oh no. NO. I'm not the settling down type. And no offense but...have you seen your weyrmate? Your taste is WEIRD." But it was good to hear her treating Tuckal like the sister she had always been. Maybe not all changes were for the worse. She still wasn't letting Tikra set her up. Ever. |

"Goodness, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Any woman can decide to have a child with her weyrmate. And...Tuckal doesn't know, actually. I'd been planning to tell her after we conceived. But since you're here, you're the first to know." Tikra did feel bad about not telling her sisters together. Faranth knew how Tuckal would take the news. Her annoyance resumed soon enough. Why was everyone so determined to rag on Tikra's weyrmate? Even her own family. "I've known him for several months. And his theories do have merit. Harpers teach children and spread news throughout Pern. Who's to say that they don't have ulterior motives? As to his wingleading, I don't think his wing has any more casualties than any other wing." Tikra nodded solemnly. "Left his position and the Weyr. Tuckal...and that Blaze...have done a very good job of filling in, but Tuckal's overworked, if you ask me. I almost see where she's coming from, but...Benden. Of all the Weyrs. In the baths, too. That bath has seen some things." She snorted, torn between amusement and even greater annoyance. "Of course I've seen my weyrmate. My taste is perfectly fine. Tall bronzeriders with sense. Tuckal's missing the 'sense' part, and you're missing all the parts. Time to settle both of you down." It was her duty as the oldest sister. |

"Other women know their weyrmate for more than a few months. And pick some who's...well...not S'bor," Gellera said with a roll of her eyes. Had her sister gone blind these last few turns? Sure Gellera knew her taste had always been a BIT poor but...she didn't think it had been quite this bad when she'd left, "But...good luck. If you're sure." It seemed kind of hasty to her and like a very bad choice. Luckily, it wasn't her life to forsk up. GELLERA was NEVER getting pregnant with anyone like S'bor. "Seriously, Tikra? You're letting him brainwash you with his crazy theories? Harpers are...harpers. Not an evil conglomerate," Gellera sighed, "And we don't have more causalities but we have a LOT more unproductive meetings. He makes us just SIT THERE staring. And occasionally makes a pronouncement. Do you not realize how weird that is? Not to mention the fact that there are two bronzeriders in charge of a wing with NO OTHER metallics..." Why the forsk Tuckal or Monty had agreed in the first place was a mystery for the ages. "Hey. I like tall, intelligent men just fine," Gellera protested, "I just prefer them a bit prettier and a whole lot less stuck up. Besides...I'm young. Why shouldn't I have my fun just because Tuckal does unspeakable things in the baths? With BENDENITES. I didn't forsk a Bendenite. I will never forsk a Bendenite. Because I have forsking taste." But forsking in the baths? Maybe...A girl had to know when to have a good time. |

TW: misgendering/transphobia "He's a good man," Tikra insisted stubbornly. Sure, Tuckal's choices of bedmates were more physically attractive...but of the two most recent ones, one had forsked off, and the other one was from Benden. S'bor was a far better choice than either of those two. "We're not Harpers, we don't know exactly what goes on in their craft. I wouldn't be surprised if Blaze were in on it. A man - a Harper man - as Junior Weyrwoman? What has Pern come to?" Tuckal was a woman who rode gold. That was all well and good. But now a man had Impressed gold and was ruling over her as Junior Weyrwoman? This had to stop. Tikra frowned. She hadn't known that about S'bor's wingleading. Leena certainly led their wing very differently. "I'll talk to him about that. But he was put in that position for a reason. And don't tell them I said this, but Yugoth and Xenth are far too small to be in Midnight anyway." Oh, Gellera was missing the point entirely. "S'bor isn't stuck-up, he just has standards. And it's partly because Tuckal does unspeakable things in the baths with Bendenites. We need to be better than that. That means picking proper weyrmates." Oh, why were so many of the bronzeriders women these days? It was terrible. |

"Oh my Faranth-" Gellera gasped in surprise and mild amusement, "You've drunk the crazy-punch. Did S'bor convince you of all this or have you gone delusional on your own since I left? I take it back...You two are perfect for each other." She did frown though as she said, "Blaze is non-binary. There are other non-binary weyrwomen. He's trying his best." Gellera didn't know him enough to say if that best was good enough but...Eh. The weyr had yet to tumble down around their ears. Gellera shook her head, lips quirked with humor. Because sometimes...there was no getting to through people. If Tikra was that far gone...Maybe Gellera should be showing HER the better options, "Sure Xenth's tiny but Yugoth's not THAT small. It's still a bad precedent that doesn't belong at Fort." Gellera shrugged, "Again...agree on the Bendenite bit. But what's wrong with some unspeakable behavior in the baths? It's a WEYR. Every weyr has a few of those couples...It's actually a pretty fun place to forsk." |

TW: transphobia? Oh, now Tikra was mad. But she was a lady weyrmated to a gentleman, and she would not disgrace either herself or S'bor by flying into a shrieking rage like she wanted to. "I'll pretend I didn't hear you calling me and S'bor delusional," she said stiffly. "And you'd think the term Weyrwoman implies, you know, a woman. Not a man or nonbinary or whatever. What Pern is coming to these days, I will never know." Tikra wasn't encouraged by Gellera's next words. Women did not belong on male dragons, and Gellera's radical views were proof enough. "Bronzes shouldn't lead the highest wings, perhaps...but I see no reason why they shouldn't lead the others. Yugoth is a capable bronze and he fits your wing's sizes." That sealed it. "But people can walk in on you in the baths! You can at least close the door in a Flight weyr or something! People do not need to be seeing other people's...bits! Think of the children!" |
