There are a few muddy paw prints on the bottom of the letter, and what looks to be a muddy wher-snout imprint where the signatures are.

My dearest ‘Stelle,
I hope this letter finds you well. Eltsk has been prodding me for the last month or so to return the one you wrote me a little while back. I apologise for the delay: there have been some exciting matters that required my earnest attention!
I am glad to hear that Tuckal has recovered well, and sorry for the departure of Monty. They made, to my knowledge, a strong pair. You’re right: having leadership determined by Flights might place Weyrs in a precarious position. I am glad for our leaders’ level-headedness here. Certainly between O’tlan, Vella, Fartoo and our other representatives, we are well-served. I am less afraid of Bendenites than I am of felines, at this stage.
Speaking of- let me tell you of some of my recent excitement! I apologise the news comes so late, and only by writing, but I sustained some minor injuries in the course of tracking and terminating some spotties. Eltsk and I were assigned a newly-arrived greenpair by the name of V’rell and Peridoth. They were at High Reaches before they transferred to Semaca, but Ista-born. Despite their newness to Requiem Squad, they fought well. According to Eltsk and Peridoth, neither V’rell nor I are smart enough to stay out of the way, hence our injuries. Our wounds have healed, however, leaving nothing but scars and four dead felines to show for our efforts!
I am sorry I was not able to attend the garnet hatching. We had one here, recently: a clutch of two giving us another garnet and green. I hear the weyrlings are doing well, but I will be glad for some more wherlets in the future, too. I have a feeling Eltsk may be overdue, but I am not the kind of man to tell a lady when her time has come. And besides, Eltsk knows best.
Nebulaeth had her maiden Flight! Her clutch is splendid, sired by the dark dragon Cabadath- who is quite large, might I add. I imagine their twelve dragons will be a sight to behold once hatched- their eggs certainly are. Perhaps you and Jaehaeryth should like to visit, and watch the hatching with us? The Weyr holds its collective breath in anticipation: Cabadath has a long history of producing large and sometimes unique dragons, and as this is Nebulaeth’s first it will be interesting to see what comes from the shell…
All of our love and best wishes to you and Ryth!
Elton and El
