The Darkling's skin flushed as Damita dried him in the same fashion he had her. His still obvious arousal was somewhat embarrassing for him, but it finally died down once they began to pull clothes back on. His mind raced with thoughts of what more could happen between them as he watched her pull clothes over her slender frame for the first time. Her beauty was hypnotic, and he caught himself staring before pulling on the loose jeans and t-shirt she had provided for him. He remained quiet as was his nature, but there was a small, undeniable smile on his countenance that he simply couldn't wipe away even if he'd wanted to. It wasn't an expression he was used to wearing, but he considered it a pleasant change. Once they were both ready, he managed to find enough stability that he only required a hand on her shoulder to steady himself on their way to her vehicle. The Darkling was still not entirely used to the speed the thing moved, and spent most rides with his eyes on Damita to keep from getting queasy. His mind raced, but for once it was with excitement of the unknown rather than anxiety. The Latina beside him had accepted him as hers, something that he couldn't have imagined in his wildest dreams. She wanted to show him things beyond his comprehension, and already had many times over. Physical closeness wasn't even what excited him the most, but knowing that such an angelic being loved him. Everything from the way she kissed him to the way she freed him from the traps his nightmares set had blown away any perspective he'd had of the universe. Damita had made it clear that she had chosen him, but he couldn't help but wonder if she were a gift for all the suffering he'd endured and the courage it took to escape it. Somehow, the motion of the vehicle had an opposite effect than usual. Krys felt his eyelids droop as Damita's massage compounded with his still extremely raw emotions and the resulting exhaustion from releasing them. Adding in what had happened in the shower, and they had barely made it into town before he was sound asleep in the passenger seat. |

Damita smiled back at him as she led him into the bedroom and started pulling clothes back on. First was a new pair of underwear and jeans, wiggling into them as they were nearly skin tight to her rear end. She grinned as she noticed Krys watching her, and knew that he couldn't help himself. She then made a spectacle of herself pulling on another tank, and adjusted it over her breasts before covering it with an off the shoulder sweater. She remained standing as she pulled on a pair of socks and slipped her feet into a pair of tennis shoes. She moved over to him then and wrapped her arm around his waist to lead him down the hallway to grab her keys and list then made certain the door was locked before leading him to the car. Her little Impala wasn't anything special, but it was the first thing she'd owned since opening her shop in town. She was proud of it and took pride in it, normally calling it her baby. The whole ride into town, she kept glancing over at him out of the corner of her eye. She couldn't help it nor could she help the smile that was still fixed to her face. Once they reached Duskmarsh she focused on the streets and didn't even notice when he'd fallen asleep. She kept her eyes on the road and then the front of the apothecary shop as it came into view. Her sister's keyboardist, Dana, had parents who were believers of magic and owned the holistic apothecary to appeal to the new age healing fad that had swept across America, not realizing that the herbs and crystals they sold in the shop were in fact magical. At least when used by a witch. She parked the car and looked over at him, ready to dart into the shop and get what she needed, but stopped as she saw him fast asleep. Her smile softened and she reached out to place a gentle hand on his shoulder. "Krys. Amor, we're at the shop." |

Krys groaned softly as Damita made to rouse him from his slumber. He couldn't fathom why he was so exhausted, though Damita could probably have explained it to him. The Darkling did his best not to slow her down too much, and climbed out of the vehicle to follow her into the apothecary. As the sights and smells greeted him, Krys thought about his own herbal medicine awaiting him at home, and was surprised when he realized that he hadn't partaken in it yet that day. He stuck close by to the Latina, but remained silent and did his best to remain unnoticed as she shopped. |

Damita grabbed a small basket just inside the doors and waved to the owners who stood at the register near the back of the shop. She worked quickly, gathering the herbs and oils she needed. She kept her senses to the man with her, paying attention to his wellbeing as she worked to gather what she needed, then moved over to the crystals, looking over the stones for a moment before picking up a black tourmaline. She weighed it in her hand and turned it over. It was small, maybe a couple inches in length and about an inch in width, but it would be perfect to charge to help Krys with his nightmares. Just for the hell of it she grabbed a couple of quartz crystals and a malachite to amp up the tourmaline's properties and made her way to the counter. "You don't normally get the stones from us, Dam," the female noted as she checked over them and punched it into the computer screen. "Special circumstance," she said with a shrug, unable to help herself glancing up at Krys beside her. "I see, you got a new batch coming out soon?" Damita nodded and held up a small bag that contained loose sage. "Hopefully this'll be a good addition." "You know you could get the fresh stuff from your sister, why do you keep coming to us?" "You dry it and you're a local business. I tell anyone that wants to try cooking with fresh herbs to come hit you up. We gotta look out for each other, right?" The woman laughed softly and shook her head. "Well, we do direct them to you for your soaps and lotions." "See? My point exactly," she said as a new customer came into the shop, the bell ringing as they entered. The owner put her things into a paper bag for her, and Damita took it as she slipped her hand into Krys's holding onto him as she made her way toward the entrance, her eyes flicking to the customer looking over the dried herbs. They passed close by to him before reaching the door and heading for the car. Her senses went haywire, and she wasn't sure if she was overreacting to the man's presence. She knew Cass would tell her better safe than sorry and made her way to the car, opening Krys's door for him first before rounding to her side of the car. Once inside she dropped the bag into the back seat and glanced up into the shop as she shoved the key into the ignition. He was watching them. Not good. If her years as a witch had taught her anything it was that too much attention, especially when alarms were ringing loudly in her head, was not a good thing. Before she'd become a witch, she'd had attention, and it was normally admirers. They'd even had their fair share of looks when she went grocery shopping with Krys at her side. But something about the man inside the shop was different. She didn't like the way his narrow eyes had settled on them. She turned the car's engine over and tried to remain calm as she slipped the gearshift into reverse and backed out of the parking spot, then drove through the center of town, passing by Howl at the Moon, taking the long way out of Duskmarsh, passing by the Butterfly Inn before directing the car toward the country. |

Krys remained quiet throughout his time with Dam in the apothecary, but when they passed by the man Damita had been alarmed by his own instincts told him to flee. Given the Latina beside him, however, the Darkling was able to suppress that feeling long enough to get back into the car and on the road. He was normally the much more situational aware of the two, but when he saw Damita looking at the man and followed her eyes to see him watching them from inside the apothecary Krys had to fight not to duck down in his seat. He knew she had seen what he had, and that she was suspicious as well. However, the Darkling's paranoia was growing exponentially, and he continually flicked his gaze to the side mirror to see if they were being followed. Krys didn't relax again until they were out of the town and alone on the country roads leading back to her home, at which point he finally sank fully into his seat once more. He worried that the Gentry would find him often, but it had been a while since he'd felt outright panic about their chances of finding him. Now that he had Damita, however, Krys found his perspective altered. He still feared them more than anything, but now his fear also came with worry that the woman beside him could come to harm trying to protect him. Given how much cowardice and selfishness it had taken for the Darkling to escape his captivity, such anxiety over the well being of another was not something he was used to feeling. Knowing that Damita could be in grave danger simply by helping him felt like an unacceptable consequence to him, and thoughts began to churn beneath the surface as to whether it would be better for her if he disappeared and tried to make it on his own. So lost in his own mind was Krys that he didn't notice them pulling to a stop outside her trailer until she had already shut off the car, and couldn't help but check behind them to see if anyone or anything had followed. Satisfied somewhat by the empty road in their wake, Krys quietly gathered the bags containing Damita's purchases and brought them inside for her. His hands were already shaking a little as he set the items down, and the paranoia brought on by the man's attention at the store had him glancing out every window he passed. |

Damita was just as quiet as Krys on their way back to her home. A million thoughts raced through her head, and she logically worked her way through each one before coming to the conclusion that if it wasn't absolutely nothing to worry about it was a demon. But why was he in the shop? Was he tracking her? Going back through her last few visits to town she'd realized she'd seen him around, hanging near the background of every memory she had. That was what made her do a double take at him in the shop. That was what had her on edge, it couldn't just be nothing, not if she had unknowingly seen him before. She remembered faces, and that was a face she knew she had seen before. AS she turned the car off, she too looked behind them to the road to see if they had been followed and shook her head with the thought that she was being ridiculous. If they were being followed, she would have known it by now. She'd kept her eyes glued to the mirrors for any sign of vehicles behind them. She didn't expect Krys to take the bags from the car, but smiled gratefully at him as she moved ahead to unlock the door and let them in, slipping the deadbolt in place behind them. Her gaze followed Krys carefully as he moved to set the bags down and saw his hands shaking. He was just as unnerved, if not terrified. She shook her head and moved over to her lover, taking his hands in hers. "It's okay. From what you told me, if he was one of the Gentry, he would have immediately attacked or followed us to attack us in private. We weren't followed." She wouldn't say that they weren't tracked because she didn't know for certain. It was quite possible that they were tracked by some means, magical or not, and kicked herself for not taking care to check her car. not that it would matter because she wouldn't have known what to look for anyway. Not if it were technology-based anyway. Hex bags and magical trackers she'd be able to pick out, but anything technology related? forget it. "If it was anything it was likely a demon. There was no recognition in his eyes toward you, and he was paying more attention to me. I've fought off demons before, I've got this." She wasn't sure if she was reassuring him or not, but she was too unnerved by the sighting that it made her want to call Cass or Katherine. |

Krys was so focused on potential external threats and the anxiety they brought that he didn't notice Damita until she had taken hold of his hands. He looked down at them, noting not only the contrast in skin tone but the difference in size between them. Damita's words did not bring him much comfort, and knowing she felt the danger was more directed toward her did little for his worry. He glanced over his shoulder toward the front door before returning his gaze to her, unable to meet her eyes. Finally, after several moments of silence, Krys brought his gaze up to meet hers. He couldn't hide the fear in his eyes and he knew it, but hoped at the very least she didn't take it as disbelief or doubt in her abilities. The Darkling knew what he wanted then, as it was the only thing that could calm him down besides her. He offered the Latina a small nod of acceptance before carefully slipping away from her and making his way to the bedroom. As soon as he entered, the changeling pulled open the bedside table drawer and withdrew what Damita's sister had grown for him. He hurriedly packed the bowl of the pipe resting beside it as well until he could fit no more of the herb into it, then moved over to the window to slide it open. Whether Damita had followed or remained to care for her inventory wasn't something he was aware of as he sat on the edge of the bed. Krys lit the pipe, drawing heavily from it and expelling the smoke out the window as he tried to calm his racing mind. |

Damita started to follow after him as he moved to the back of the trailer but stopped when she heard the shifting of the drawer in which he kept his stash. She nodded and turned back to the bags, taking out the stones she had purchased, leaving the herbs for later, and slowly made her way back to the bedroom. As she did so, she focused her magic on them, charging them into life so their magical properties would take effect. She moved around the bed and placed the stones on his bedside table before she took a seat beside him. She didn't know what to say, already so unnerved by the sighting, but she felt she needed to say something. "I'm scared too," she admitted. "But if that demon comes here looking for trouble, he's going to be in a world of hurt." she wrapped her arm around his waist, pressing against his back and leaned her head on his shoulder. "I protect those I care about, Krys. That's just who I am..." |

Krys smoked from his pipe slowly and methodically, feeling the sharpness of his anxiety and panic erode and dull beneath its effects. When Damita entered the bedroom, he heard and felt her presence. A slight shiver moved through him as she wrapped an arm around him and brought her head to rest against his shoulder. The Darkling wasn't sure he could ever explain why such a simple gesture could be so comforting or make him feel more complete, but he wanted to bottle that feeling and lock it away so that he never had to be without it. He was already halfway through his bowl when she spoke, but paused and set it beside him. "I would never be able to forgive myself if you came to harm because of me, Dam," he whispered. "I've... watched so many people die while I stood by and did nothing... or fled... to save my own skin. People I knew, that I'd spent years scavenging with... who were parts of the very few memories of that place that weren't nightmares. I just... let them die without even trying to save them, because I knew that doing so would kill me too. I... I don't want to be a danger to you, ever..." |

Damita shook her head and looked up at him with compassion in her eyes. "No, Krys... I knew the risk of allowing you to stay here when you told me of the Gentry. I knew it would be a danger to myself if they came for you. But I couldn't let you leave, and now..." She glanced at the wall that separated her bedroom from her bathroom and smiled. Now it's changed. Our entire landscape has changed, and there's no going back for me. I'm in this with you. No matter what. I can also hear the guilt in your voice as you talk about those people... And I believe you are more courageous than you give yourself credit for. Any danger presented to either of us will affect the other. I don't want you to be harmed because of the demons that seem constantly after the members of my coven, but you're here, and you knew the danger by staying here as well. I accept that danger if it means getting to keep you in my life." |

Krys took a deep, unsteady breath of clear air as Damita spoke. Her reminder that she already faced danger due to her own nature refreshed his perspective, even if it didn't make him feel much better. When she mentioned how things had changed, he knew it had something to do with what happened between them earlier that day in the shower. At the same time, Krys felt that a deeper connection and bond had formed than he ever thought possible with another person. The power of the emotions tying that unifying thread between them was just as frightening as the threats to it, though he lacked the education to understand it. He re-lit the bowl and started to pull from it again. "Okay," he whispered after several moments of silence. "I... I still mean what I said earlier," he continued, picking the pipe back up. "I do... I'm just afraid... for the first time in my life I'm afraid for someone other than myself... because you mean everything to me, Damita." |

Damita smiled up at him and moved her hand over his back. "I mean what I said too. And you know, sometimes, being afraid for someone else can bring about things you never thought possible from yourself. The first time I fought a demon, my little sister was trapped. It was the first time I created a force field. I did it to protect her and then ended up creating a second within the demon and it exploded. I just remember wanting to kill it, to get it away from Karen. I was still new to demons." She turned then to face him fully, folding her leg up in front of her as she did so. "I think that same exists within you. You just have to be in the right situation to find it. Krys you mean the world to me, and I will do everything in my power to protect not only you but myself as well. My place is warded and the coven put a protection charm on it. The chances of a demon actually finding me here... finding us here... is minimal. We will be perfectly fine, no matter what happens." |

Krys listened, as he always did. It wouldn't have mattered if Damita was discussing pottery enamel, he would have hung onto every word. Her reassurances wouldn't have mattered, except that they came from her. She was the only one he could ever remember trusting, and her actions since coming into his life lent more weight to the words she spoke than he could have thought possible. The Darkling continued to draw from his piece, the movement of her hand on his back bringing chill bumps to his skin. He had his doubts about whether the same existed within him, but the emotions tied to Damita's well-being were powerful. Krys realized she was probably right about at least him not knowing what he was fully capable of, but didn't feel it in that moment. However, hearing what he meant to her made his heart soar, and when she had finished he looked over at her. "I feel safe with you, Damita," he replied quietly. "I hope... I hope you're right about me." He cashed out the pipe, knocking the ashes out in the tray nearby before looking at it in his hands. Krys looked up at her, his gaze uncertain but calm. "I... think I'm going to have another one of these," he admitted. His stomach chose that moment to growl loudly, causing him to blush even as he remembered that he hadn't eaten that day. |

Damita grinned as she heard his stomach and leaned up to press a kiss to his lips. She lingered there a moment before she pulled back and rest her forehead against his. "I'll go make us some tacos. something quick and easy." She pressed another quick kiss to his lips and turned from him, moving to the bedroom door. She paused there a moment and looked back at him, giving him a warm smile. "Come join me when you're done." She moved out to the kitchen and grabbed a package of ground beef from the fridge and dumped it into a skillet, turning on the burner before gathering the rest of the ingredients. She then turned to her phone and grinned as she pulled up a playlist of her sister's music, needing something upbeat to pick the spirits up in the house. Turning on the only Spanish song her sister had released she danced, shaking her hips back and forth as she cut up the tomatoes and stirred the beef before adding in the spices needed. Though she cheated and used el paso prepackaged taco seasoning... it didn't matter to her, it was still tacos. She found herself softly singing along with the music as she cooked, loving the way the thoughts of the demon had been filtered from her mind with Karen's music blaring from her phone. |

A mild gasp of pleasant surprise escaped Krys as Damita kissed him, and just when he felt himself beginning to sink into it she pulled away. His blush deepened and he followed her as she headed out of the room. His gaze lingered on where she stood even after she left, and he had to wonder just what he had done to stumble into her life. By the time he had finished his second bowl, Krys was much more docile than when they'd arrived home. The effects also clouded his worry in the same way Damita's music did for her, and he took a few moments to let that feeling sink in before leaving the bedroom to find the Latina. He stopped in the doorway when he spotted her cooking and swaying her shapely hips back and forth to the music. The Darkling couldn't help the smirk that spread over his countenance at the sight before him. Her voice wafted softly through the room, and he found her singing to be quite pleasant. Krys moved quietly to the table where they normally ate so he wouldn't disturb her and took a seat. With his chin resting in one hand supported by his elbow on the table, Krys lazily watched as Damita cooked and hypnotized him with her display of personality. |
