Ben did exactly as requested, grinning right back at her as he set them up for another game. He finished racking, set the triangle back on its hangar and clasped both hands around his cue stick as he watched her. The Threadmage couldn't help but be enraptured by her beauty, and his mind wandered with the prospects of spending more time with her.

"Break's all yours, dumplin," he replied with a wink.

Makayla was all too eager to break, and moved to the end of the table, lining up her cue and took the shot. She aimed slightly off center, as if she were bowling and the crack that the balls gave almost echoed in the bar. She sank a solid almost immediately, it jumping back and forth in the pocket before settling there, and she stood, satisfied with the result. "Stripes for you."

She walked backwards, getting ready to line up another shot and sank a second solid before she considered the table on her third. The cue was nestled into a pack of stripes, and it made her crinkle her nose up a little as she worked to maneuver around the balls, but conceded the shot, gesturing to her opponent. "Your go."

Ben arched an eyebrow as Makayla sank a solid on her first shot. Stripes were always unlucky for him, but he had a feeling he might get the digits regardless if he made a game of it for her. When she conceded her turn, Ben chuckled and stepped forward. In such a target-rich environment, he was able to sink shot after shot and return the cue to a good position. It looked like he was about to run the table and punish Makayla's mistake, and his heart hammered in his chest as his brain finally got the better of him.

He didn't take enough time to line up his shot on the second to last stripe, and though it sank, the angle of the rebound sent the cue ball directly into the eight ball. Ben sighed heavily, letting his head fall back as the ball rolled directly into the corner pocket. The Threadmage could only let out a groan.

"Damnit..."

Makayla groaned softly as she watched him run the table, and shook her head, mentally kicking herself for conceding the shot. "Damn..." she muttered before he sank his last, then lit up as he accidentally sank the eight ball as well. "Well..." she said moving over to him, resting the cue over her shoulders. "I'm owed a name."

Ben eyed the Latina carefully as she approached, noting the things her posture did to her figure. Her response was not unexpected, and he chuckled nervously as he met her gaze. The Threadmage sighed, scratching his head.

"I suppose I do," he replied. "Name's Ben. Yes that's short for the longer version, but I absolutely hate hearing it."

"Ben..." Makayla repeated softly, her lips turning up into a smile. "So much better than Roy." she said leaning her rear against the pool table, ignoring the commotion of the main part of the bar as a fight started to break out. It didn't last more than thirty seconds before one of the wolves ducked between the men and offered free drinks to both of them to placate them. "Won't speak the longer version."

She was still stuck on why he wouldn't tell her his real name, even after she had it in her memory. she wanted to know more about him, but needed to ask the right questions to unlock that mystery.

"What's wrong with Roy?" Ben asked with a chuckle. He smirked as the fight got broken up in the background behind Makayla, but quickly returned his attention to her. He spun the cue stick absently between his hands, moving past her to hang it up alongside the others.

"You want a drink?"

Makayla nodded and moved away from the table, hanging the stick up in the only available spot, and turned to him then. "Tequila" She smirked as the radio changed stations, and she heard her own sister's voice coming through the speakers as she took the lead toward the bar.

"Your usual, Kay?" Piper asked, brushing her long dark hair over her shoulder.

"You know it, and whatever my friend wants. start a tab?"

"Done, chica," the bohemian dressed woman said, turning, her skirt flowing around her legs as she did so and turned her attention to Ben as she poured Makaylas drink, topping it with a lime wedge.

"I'll take a greyhound, thanks," Ben replied to Piper with a smile. He returned his attention to Makayla as she poured the Latina across from him a liquor he never could handle as well.

"Never could drink that stuff straight," Ben admitted, gesturing to her drink. "Something about knowing it's fermented with a dead worm in every bottle makes me wanna yak. And that doesn't mean I want to buy a long-haired buffalo and stick him in my back yard."

Makayla smirked, and pulled the lime from the edge of the shot glass, then licked her hand, pouring a bit of salt on it, then licked it again, staring at him the whole time she did it before downing the shot and biting into the lime. "Just don't think about it." she said with a smirk.

She always seemed to down tequila more when she met a new guy, wanting to see their reaction to her taking the shot more than anything. It was the only thing she could order that could be taken in a sensual way, and with her lineage, and tolerance to alcohol thanks to her father's genetics... she could hold her own pretty well.

Ben barely resisted the urge to lick his own lips when he saw Makayla's tongue caress her own hand. It didn't take much imagination to think of what else she might be signaling, and he watched her take the shot with more rapt attention than he probably wanted to admit. Once his vodka and grapefruit juice was set before him, Ben sipped it casually as he smirked over at her.

"I live by those words," he replied. "It's the only way to survive sometimes... or keep from going crazy."

As if seeing the challenge in the woman's eyes, he looked from her to his glass and back before quickly downing his own drink. The bitter-sweetness of the grapefruit juice completely neutralized the bite of the liquor which allowed him to drain it quickly. He set the glass back onto the table with a sigh.

"Top shelf stuff here I see," he managed not to cough.

Makayla grinned over at him as he first spoke and laughed before he took down the rest of his drink. "They are words to live by, for sure. Just don't think about it. It's a way to get into serious trouble too though..." She arched an eyebrow as he chugged the rest of his drink and burst into laughter. "Trying to keep up?" She put up her index finger signalling Piper that she wanted another, and the Wolf chuckled as she filled the shot glass, and set a small bowl of lime wedges on the counter.

"Girl, why don't I leave the bottle? Just don't drink Brina out of the good Patron. Alright?"

Makayla rolled her eyes and waved her off. "Once, I did that once, and y'all won't let me forget it."

Oh good God what did I just unintentionally get myself into?

Ben actually had no interest in competing with the woman in the game of drink, especially not after just having met her. However, at the same time Fate didn't show him anything negative coming from either option, so he went along with it. The Threadmage shrugged after signaling Piper for another round himself before she left.

"I've done my fair share of drinkin' back in the day, but I can't say I've wiped a bar of their top shelf before," he replied with a wink. "Then again, I doubt I'd remember if I had. Goes back to that life motto we both have."

Makayla smirked and licked her hand again, readying another shot before she took it and clanked the glass back onto the counter. She smiled and shrugged lightly. "It was a particularly bad night I was having, and the drink numbed it all. My boss didn't take kindly to me being hungover the next morning while trying to cook breakfast for a full house."

"Drink is definitely good at that," Ben replied before knocking back his own. He set his glass down and shook his head. "You've got a good boss if they didn't fire you for that. Lord knows I've never been the sort to hold a nine to five arrangement. Just... never suited me. I've got too much spontaneity in me I guess."
