Tide eyes widen at that as she dug through her bag to pull out a towel. Well...That wasn't what she had put in there, but she didn't question it as she handed it to Raferties not even noticing he had moved to be between her and the beetles should they come after Charlie again. "Ghosts Raferties! You sure you okay?" Her voice went high pitched with worry as she pushed the towel at him before digging around for another one. Just in case that one wasn't enough.
It wasn't like she had forgotten the battle going on around her. More like she had pushed it to the back as the beetles were slowly, bur surely going down one by one. "You do not need to vomit or anything to help out your resistance do you?" Even as she talked, she pulled out another towel. "That should do it...What would we need to do if the others ingested or got blood into their wounds? Or can you not tell what type of poison it is?"

Due to the nature of my post to follow this message, my two characters will be combined into one technically... you'll see.
There was a silence that was slowly beginning to fill the corridor as the beetles continued to drop in numbers faster and faster by the moment. Cassandra wasn't entirely sure how much longer her magic would be capable of holding the one she'd focused on, but she knew that within moments, it would probably find a way to break free nonetheless.
So, there seemed to be only one general solution... attract the attention of the closest warrior that she could and attempt to receive their assistance. Without taking her eyes too long from the target at hand, the Djinn shot a glance to her side in a brief visual search of allies... "Oh, good... Ashyana, be a dear and break this ice cube for me?"
Having just completed her sawdust cleansing, the Selu'ani blinked a couple of times and quickly scooped up her blade from its resting place to approach Cassandra more at ready. "Ice cube?" The specific vernacular was not one that flitted about the Elf's homeland, but she caught the gist of the sentiment as she spun the katana in her offhand a couple of times.
The blade was meant to be wielded one-handed, thankfully, so she was not forced to place herself into even more pain than necessary as she pulled her wrist to her chest to maintain its current condition as best as possible for someone to perhaps tend to later. No, she was instead to be forced to use her less adept hand to accomplish this task. She frowned very slightly in those brief couple of moments of testing her swing... then chose this to be the best time to resort to her other teachings. Although she could probably be efficient with her off-hand blows, Ashyana decided that it would potentially be a little better to test other boundaries.
The Djinn's magic would continue to wrap around the beetle for a couple more moments, allowing Ashyana to slip up beside it, twisting her blade awkwardly in her hand to jerk it downward back into its sheath (a rather difficult task, mind you, due to it being on the same side of her body as the hand that wielded the weapon, but doable by a trained warrior). As the ringing of the metal returning to its resting place echoed around them, Cassandra finally released her spell, the ice still lingering for the briefest of time.... she hoped that it would be long enough to make what came next effectual.
When the samurai finally saw no more magic lacing the air around her enemy, she spun on her heel, the rest of her body becoming near perfectly horizontal as her momentum drove her opposing heel into the front mandible of beetle 5. There was no hesitation following her blow, no desire to see if the unarmed assault was effectual... no, a moment later, she was pivoting back to the left, her trained fist now connecting with the other side of its head.
Back home, warriors were trained to break much more than rock with their fists. Who knew how brittle this cretin had become with the ice clinging to its body.
Watching from a small distance now, Cassandra raised an eyebrow and muttered under her breath, "Not... what I thought you were going to do... but it works."

James wasn't a fan of the prospect of possible running into a new group of possible enemies. He looked around, Ashyana pounding a beetle into the ground with her bare hands. Banner lighting three of them on fire, Gwydion finishing off another. The team had this well in hand without him. He ducked down and started moving towards the source of the sound. He wasn't going to be caught off guard for another attack.
He hugged the walls and avoided light sources. He wasn't the stealthiest of the group, but a few Black Out missions had prepared him for such things. He placed his feet lightly and controlled his breathing. He slid a thumb across Sidewinders handle. If it came to a fight, at least his revolvers would let the out a loud enough noise to give the others warning. He came to the corner and peeked around, trying to discern what he could from the battle.

Gwydion slid after his blow, surveying the rest of the battle. He really didn't have much more to add. If there was a beetle left, it was probably going to be dead or start running. He looked down at the beetle he had struck. It squirmed and started to back away.
"No you bloody don't!"
He brought Groundbreaker down. Letting the blade release it hidden weight. He didn't so much as cut and he did bash through the beetles shell. cracking through it striking the ground. It was kinda satisfying, and he felt a lot better. Kinda like Therapy, but way more fun.

"The question that sometimes drives me hazy: Am I, or the others crazy?" - Albert Einstein
Tumbling with the flurry of movement, Scarheart would be forced to abandon the rope - but a few copper coins lost is always better than life or limb. In that moment of weakness, as the monstrosity before him twitched on its back and writhed to be free of its prostration, Hren dove forward hard with the small knife in rapid thrusts - to the underside of the head and neck region, across the exterior of the mandibles close to the eye, then across the belly with a run along the side of the beetle, a dragging cut the intention to reveal the sickly insides.
Without hesitating to look at the wounds of the creature left in his wake, Scarheart would jot a few feet away before turning back to face the direction of the beetle and draw a short blade meant for hacking weeds and tall flora (a machete) and prepared now with a dual-weapon approach; blade and knife. Slowly, the blind ranger would back up to put his back beside Cassandra.
"Are you alright, Beloved?" He tensed, ready for any more onlookers while he would let the flesh of his back slowly numb to the pain.

The Gith General would allow the beetle its retreat - fear was always a more powerful weapon than a single foe dead on the battlefield. Not to mention, in most hive-minded bestial societies, a creature that could no longer find the hive would be destroyed by the others. Such betrayal sounded intensely more fun to Korazjh. Then of course, there was Gwydion's blade, rending asunder the beetle. "That works, also." He smirked at the sudden end to the creature's existence, and then turned his attention to 'the voice.'
Korazjh'iktha came to a stop on the battlefield even as beetle 7 lunged forward with the bite and caustic spray. Korazjh wasn't even paying attention to the thing at this point, clearly intrigued by the voice that was attempting communication. Luckily, he had previously brought forth a kinetic barrier and the beetle would feel the impact of a solid field around the Gith Warlord. The acid would leave a green blot against the psychic barrier, slowly running and dripping down it revealing the presence of the spherical energy. The silver-bladed warrior blinked a bit at the impact, then turned to face the beetle. "Shoo. I'm speaking with your betters."
In truth, it was just to goad the beetle into striking again, as the kinetic barrier was nearly full of energy and would soon retaliate against its attackers. Meanwhile, his mind would reach out to the feminine voice that caught him wholly by surprise. ~Korazjh'Iktha, former General in Service to Her Ever-awfulness Vlaakith. While these words mean little to you, rest assured that should we continue to be at opposition throughout this encounter, you will soon learn of its magnitude and importance. Now, who, and possibly what, are you?~

Nope. Nope nope nope. No-fragging-way. Banner had fought in the gutters and in a war and on a mudball planet lightyears away, but this? This was too much. Xe wasn’t getting paid enough to play exterminator, much less for bugs fully capable of dissolving Cybertronium alloys. Leave the fighting to the actual fighters. Xe was done risking life and limb when there were others far more capable than xir on hand.
End result, xe spat a last gout of flame at the charbroiled insects and beat a hasty retreat. Raferties and Tidesweep had done the same, albeit without quite the same success xe had. The former appeared to have taken the brunt of the insectoid assault, if the acid pools still simmering about him were any indication, but Tidesweep at least remained unharmed. Ban chirred a note of worry at both of them even as xe hastened to close the gap between them. Xe might not want to fight, but xe also wasn’t fool enough to leave the less-armored noncombatants dangling in the wind.
Sorry, Raf, but you really weren’t going to be much use to anyone lying flat on your face and bleeding everywhere. Have an Autobot guard instead!
Actually, guarding could come later. Triage took priority. With that in mind Ban knelt next to (...and partially over) Tide, offering xir a first aid kit plucked from subspace. It wasn’t what a proper medic could offer, but it was a notch up from bleeding all over towels.
“Here, try these. Is there anything else I can do?”
See Ban. See Ban fret like the oversized mother hen xe claims xe isn’t.

Gwydion Under such a forceful blow, the end was quick for the Crystal Eater. Probably something of a mercy, after what Korazjh did to it, severing it from its hive. The carapace cracked, then split, and the creature slumped to the stone unmoving.
Crystal Eater 8 has been defeated!
James ((PM sent to tell you what you see))
Tide Raferties accepted the towel with a quick glance around to confirm that, for the moment, neither of them were directly threatened. The others seemed to have things more or less wrapped up.
“Thank you.” He was quick to clear the blood from around his mouth, eyes, and nose first, before worrying about the rest of him, just to be safe. “And thank you as well for your concern, but though I feel the burn of the toxin, I am safe, at least this time. Solarians are typically immune to such, though my time away has rendered me just mostly resistant. It is neutralized. As for the others, should they become poisoned and cannot resist the effects - “ He paused, listening to what his own system was telling him and trying to interpret it. “ - it would make them very ill, and likely hinder their ability to fight. Whether it would be fatal I fear I cannot say, but I would hope my magic capable to counter it.”
Scarheart Crystal Eater 4's tough carapace would fail to save it against the onslaught, not the least reason being that it was caught on its back, and the bulk of its natural armor was its shell. The small knife would find its home again and again, the death blow coming from the gash to its gut, a quick kill worthy of a hunter.
Crystal Eater 4 has been defeated!
Cassandra and Ashyana Once the magic was released by the djinn, the ice would crack under the first of the Selu'ani's blows. Then on the second blow, it would shatter, and her third would impact the Crystal Eater itself, cracking the chill-weakened carapace. And the final blow would shatter it like the icicle it had become under the last onslaught of frozen magic.
Crystal Eater 5 has been defeated!
Korazjh Locked into seemingly an attack mode, perhaps not quite realizing that it was the last one on the battlefield, Crystal Eater 7 tried to move around the barrier, daring to the left and lunging forward to scrape against it with his sharp mandibles. (naturally, no no avail)
Meanwhile, the telepathic voice that the Gith had heard would be replying.
((spoiler for telepathy))
Spoiler: click to toggle While you are correct that those words mean nothing to me, I feel I would take offense at your words of our being at opposition when we have done nothing to you, aside from the fact that you have destroyed many of our foes and for that I must concede a debt. As to whom I am, I am the Matron of the Sithkin, in whose domain you all now stand and its sovereign. If these are words you can comprehend, then I suggest you begin considering a little respect.
Banner Thankfully for Banner's fussing, most of the blood that was on the angel wasn't his own, and what was was quickly being taken care of by his own regeneration. The Lorekeeper smiled, however, at the offer and accepted the kit to look through it.
“Thank you. Thankfully, these things lack any sort of hellish origins, so I am not badly hurt.” He did give the kit a glance over, noting its contents though much of it made little sense to the Lorekeeper. He quickly was plucking a few feathers that were acid-seared and therefore useless, then glanced at Banner's leg. “What of you?”
Everyone
The last Crystal Eater gave one more violent push towards Korazjh, rebounding against the psychic barrier the Gith had enacted only to find its efforts absorbed.
A moment later, the build-up of energy dealt out its retributive hand, blasting into the creature and sending it hurling away to crash into the wall with enough force to crack its shell and kill it instantly.
With the last beetle dead, the tunnel would return to its previous silence aside from the band of would-be heroes panting for breath, wincing from wounds, and bit by bit recovering from the battle-rush. The crystals in the cavern, which had dimmed during the conflict, would begin to re-brighten. The 'chatter' that both Korazjh and Banner would have been sensing before would dull down to a murmur, though the tension would still be there, and to Scar the sounds would become much more calm.
Seeing that the battle was over, Raferties quickly gave each of the allies a visual once-over.
“Is anyone harmed?”
((Battle Concluded!)) ((Ok, the battle is over, with the heroes being victorious! Posting shall return to a more 'normal' style, and feel free to post as many time as you want between mine. There may be some RP before the next 'segment,' though that's all dependent on the actions taken by the party. Remember, if you have any questions feel free to PM me!))

She looked over as Banner approached as well to check on Raferties. At least he seemed to be doing alright as he wiped up the poisonous blood from his face and clothing. Glancing to the side, Tide let out a noise of distress as she saw what the acid had managed to do to Banner. And to think that it had been on Cassandra! Good thing Scarheart had that sawdust or Cassandra might have been down and out for more than a few counts of the referee.
Though it looks like the fight was finally over as Tide noticed that it had gotten a lot quieter. Looking around Banner, she saw that it was in fact over. The beetles were all dead or gone. Probably all dead. Remembering what set them off, she tucked Charlie Biscuit up under her shirt as the tunnel slowly started to grow brighter again from the crystals. At Raferties, she shook her head as she did her own head count. She saw James edge forward around the tunnel and hoped that he would be okay. Last thing anyone needed was another crystal eater around that bend.
"I am fine..." She looked at Banner's leg again before looking up at the bot. "Is there anything we can do for your leg?" She doubted normal bandages would help, but Tide was still willing to offer them. After all, they might help a bit...Maybe.

After the excitement of battle had finally died away to the relaxation that they were all attempting to find, Cassandra leaned her head back against Scarheart and sighed softly. "Well... that was fun." She grinned, knowing that he would be able to hear the smile on her face, and squeeze his arm to let him know that she was alright.
"Suffice it to say that I don't think any of us have seen these creatures before.... but at least if we see them anymore, perhaps it won't be such a surprise? And thank you, Tide." The Djinn said all this in hopes of maintaining a positive demeanor, knowing that almost everyone had been scratched or left with burns from the assault. Flashing a brighter, appreciative smile towards Tide (she knew that Hren was aware of her thankfulness to his help), she then quickly scanned over each person, her eyes lingering on the particularly nasty wounds that had been dealt, even to the metallic Banner.
There wasn't really anything she could do to help them, much to her frustration, but she could still keep an eye out in general as she let her muscles relax. She did notice that James was missing from the area, though since she didn't see his body, hadn't heard him call out, and saw no excessive blood smears anywhere, she presumed that he had slipped off either in retreat or scouting nature. Either way, there was little she could do for that matter, either.
All Cassandra had the capability at the moment of doing... was waiting.

"I hope that everyone is alright." Ashyana's words were soft, as to not echo off the stone as she carefully cleaned any debris of ice and beetle off her person. She could hear faintly the shifting of boot on stone, indicating that someone was edging up through the tunnels away from them with a silent, trained step. A glance around proved her theory accurate as she perceived that James was no longer with the group as normal.
Arm still clutched tight to her chest, she nodded in thanks to the magic of Cassandra for making the destruction of her final target to be rather easier than the others she had fought. Yet, even as she was taking note of the others, seeing the damage to Banner and the couple of scrapes to everyone else... she noticed two particular things.
One :: Tide was quickly defensive of that necklace that seemed to be the target of the creatures they had just faced. Rather more so, it seemed, than a normal individual would be clinging to a piece of jewelry. Thus, Ashyana presumed that there was something perhaps more to the circumstance than met the eye.
Two :: Korazjh.
The Selu'ani's eyes narrowed on the Githyanki as she investigated the scenario and she tipped her head slightly as the expression on his face. She knew the contemplative gaze and had seen how he had fought during the entirety of the battle. Yet... it was, perchance, not her place to say anything directly to him about whatever it was that was racing through his mind. Instead, she stepped slightly closer, though not wishing to 'invade' his personal space. "Did your land have creatures like these, Korazhj'iktha? Could you sense anything of their minds? I am guessing that their minds were all one, as normal insects of this kind would demonstrate. What do they want with her crystal?"
Did she expect an answer? Yes.
Did she expect a polite, detailed, or straightforward answer?
No.
However, she presumed that he would give some form of a succinct reply that could vaguely be construed as a response to the same topic in which she asked.
Yes, that was much more likely.

"Reading, after a certain age, diverts the mind too much from its creative pursuits. Any man who reads too much and uses his own brain too little falls into lazy habits of thinking." - Albert Einstein
The blind ranger slid against the wall in relief, letting the hot air from his lungs and allowing his heart rate to normalize again. Though he could not see the other combatants, he could feel their hearts through the cavern floor - aside from the juggernaut, of course, but then again, always enough noise there to discern information. Having spent countless years in leadership roles, it was only instinct at this point to ask for a battle evaluation, in the form of polite conversation.
"Is anyone grievously wounded?"
It didn't take long for his lungs to calm down - endurance was the staple of wandering about the land with no direction, and that was his favorite pass-time of course. Taking his feet and nurturing the tender wound left down his back, he moved to Cassandra's side and rested a hand upon her shoulder. "I heard a lot of ice magic being hurled about. I hope you didn't exhaust yourself, I regret to report a high likelihood of more to come..."
His head tilted toward the cavern ahead, listening for all the previous noises, and perhaps some new ones, waiting patiently as well. His back could use the rest, and that was excuse enough to not stealth ahead to assist.

Even after the battle concluded, the arrogant Gith paid little attention to the defeated left lying in the cavern, or those that may have found other means of defeat - irrelevant. Instead, a long, slow grin overtook his face at the words countered into his mind from beyond. It took a decent amount of time before he would snap out of the mental state in which he resided, letting the words linger ever so slightly before he'd even allow Ashyana's words to register.
"They're beetles that like crystals - I think that sums it up. However... there is something else down here, and she's full of herself. Give me a moment, I'm provoking her."
Once again he concentrated on that mental 'bandwidth' to send his will and voice through the cavernous distance to contact that mind once again.
~Oh respect you shall receive. How about you give me some directions so I can come show you my respect?~
Perhaps the voice wasn't as sinister as Korazjh would hope it would be. Perhaps, she really was just a queen of some subterranean creatures that didn't mean anyone any harm. Perhaps... it could have all been settled with a polite conversation taking place between cooler minds. And of course Perhaps the Gith Warlord could have been born a flower that receives nourishment from sunshine, love, and puppies - all these things were about as equally likely.
"There we are. Mysterious psychic entity provoked."
The gith would let that wide grin land upon Ashyana, looking her up and down to see the wear and tear from battle. "Oh, you should avoid that acid. Looks painful."
Yep... it was going to be a long evening.

James blinked, Those things were... New. He found himself having to think that a lot when he came here. These things though... They were up there on the list of things that he found odd. The... things... looked like something out of a old school sci-fi movie for aliens. They were slim bodied, gray skinned and had big heads. That's were the similarities ended. They stood about four feet tall, and instead of feet and hands, their limbs ended in fine points.
Look like a pirate on peg legs.
Their arms were similar. Though it seemed like they were sharp as well. Like impromptu blades. Never a good sign when your facing a creature that has evolved weapons on it's body. There heads brought to mind Motocross helmets. Their faces, if you could call it that, was a black smear that seemed to fit the motocross bike helmet motif. There was four all together. Two seemed to be battling beetles, the two in the back were holding the crystals that they had seen in the chamber before. The ones holding the crystals had different arms. Kinda like a octopus.
James watched them drive the beetles back and the tunnel that the Crystal Eaters come out of collapse. Then swore as he saw them swivel to his position. It didn't look like they saw him. Rather, they were going to investigate the sounds of battle. He wondered on opening fire. From his range, he could easily have the drop on them and be able to fire off multiple rounds before they ever knew what hit them. Though if he did that. There was a chance that he'd be battling four enemies at once. He rarely missed, but even statistically, those weren't good odds.
He stepped back silently. Slinking towards the group. He made his presence known with a small cough. He held a finger to his lips to note silence. He spoke in low tones. He wasn't sure how good the things hearing was. But he didn't want to test it. "We got four Tangos... er, Enemies. Down the hall and there moving in fast." He said, relating all he had seen in clear and concise detail.

Gwydion sheathed Grounbreaker. The battle was over, that much was obvious. Though he felt a little let down. He wished he could of gotten just a few more. Adrenaline pumped through his body. He's eyes still glowed a dull crimson. That was hardly a warm up.
He grinned at the Giths words. "Provoking it eh? I got all the provocation I need right here." He said, running his thumb along Groundbreaker. "I hope I get to "Provoke" it as well." He said, a grin cracking his face. He jumped when he heard James cough. "Bloody he-" He was cut off by the fingers to the mouth move. He listened to the report and grinned. Maybe there was more fun to be had.

The Djinn smiled at her Master and friend, marveling at how he always seemed to always handle situations with such wonderment. "Well, I did use quite a bit, but you know I have more magic bottled up then three normal djinns... I have to find some means of an outlet!" She grinned at him, ignoring her faint injuries that she'd gained and would nod towards the other injuries scattered about. "Mine's just a rug burn, darling. Don't worry about me... your sawdust was excellent. So what's this about dancing?"
Cassandra withheld a chuckle, knowing that the situation welling up in the tunnels surrounding them was much more dire than a light demeanor really called for, but she couldn't help it - it was her nature to take everything with half a grain of salt.
When she finished hearing about the impending danger, she also took vague note of the words of the Githyanki. "So, wait, what do you mean you provoked them and why can't we do the same...?" Yeah, she liked being in on the fun....
 ~*~
Ashyana rubbed her temples with one hand and then shot a sidelong glance towards the Djinn's merry words. "Please do not give him accolades for such a task. Korazj'iktha, you do not even know who you are speaking with... why would you provoke them without knowing them? Are you attempting to incite a larger battle for you to engage in or is it a form of entertainment?"
She tipped her head to listen down the direction that James had scouted, keeping her senses acute to hopefully know when the enemies would be following.
"As for the acid, I thank you for your advice, but it was unfortunately not as easy to avoid, I found."

Everyone “I know that I have not,” Raferties replied to Cassandra's comment about anyone knowing the creatures. “And that is something I am not often able to say!” Whether or not he agreed that it had been fun, well, that was still somewhat up in the air. He noted Tide's actions beside him, and gave a soft murmur of 'We will keep him safe.” He wasn't sure which of her companions was within, but he clearly remembered seeing her reach the Veiled Shrine all those weeks ago with companions, and one be transformed into the gemstone. The Guardian would make sure that nothing happened to either of them.
“I am also not badly wounded,” he replied to the questions from Scarheart and Ashyana, even as he quickly pulled a few feathers that were too badly matted with the creature's blood to be salvaged, at least without a thorough cleaning that he didn't have time for. “These creatures have no fiendish heritage to them, which means that my wounds will close quickly. Though everyone, be aware should we encounter them again that their blood is poison; do not get it on your faces or into wounds. And if anyone has, please, tell me immediately.” The feathers he had pulled he would release, and even before they touched the ground they would dissolve into silvery dust that all but vanished in the air.
Hearing that Korazjh was in some sort of communication with some sentience – and was provoking it – got a small frown from the angel, but the deed was done before he could offer his counsel that it might be unwise. Not that he expected the Gith to actually listen to his counsel; he well remembered the Astral-traveling man from when his Aurae's eggs had been distributed, as well as subsequent encounters, and knew well that he did as he pleased when he pleased and do not try to tell him to do otherwise.
Just when the angel had hoped that things would settle down, James returned with news of approaching creatures the likes of which the Lorekeeper had never heard of - yet again! - and provoking a weary sigh though clearly some like Gwydion were eager for more action. Well, that was alright too; he knew some of his angelic brothers who were much the same at least right after a fight – they were always keyed up and looking for another for at least an hour! And if these did prove to be hostile, having someone so battle-ready would be a boon. At least Cassandra's light-hearted comments made him chuckle.
As for said 'provoked entity,' Korazjh would receive more thoughts from it/her/whatever was 'speaking.'
Spoiler: click to toggle *laugh* You are a bold one, aren't you. You do not even have an inkling of what power I may have at my command, or what forces I can array against you, yet you seek to pick a fight! But, as I said I owe you and yours for what you have unknowingly done for us. If you wish to meet with me, then I shall not give you directions, but guides. However, I warn you now, lay a hand upon them, bring my servitors ANY harm, and I shall strike back with vengeance that likely only you may have any concept of. And I shall not target you; I am wiser than that. As if on instinct, Korazjh's gaze would briefly flicker over the others. You know what powers like ours can do to them, even the winged one who seems resistant to poison and wounds or the metal one who calls fire and resists acid. And I can be quite vengeful.
For Banner, the electrical waves in the air, slowly settling back into the previous white-noise murmuring, would spike briefly then return to normal.
And as far as Scar could hear, the clicking noise that had led everyone this far would once again become the predominant sounds from up ahead, where James had spotted the approaching creatures. Given the descriptions the gunslinger had rattled off, the sounds would utterly make sense now – and even more so as the creatures themselves stepped cautiously into view.
Two creatures, standing no more than four feet tall and gray in color, would carefully step around the bend ahead of the Heroes, moving in ways that clearly weren't meant to threaten anyone but was still battle-ready should a threat be presented. Genderless and hairless, they would be humanoid only in the sense that they had human-like shape: head, arms, lets, and torso. But that would be the end of the similarity to 'human.' Their legs would end in points so small, instead of feet, that they were constantly shifting for balance and creating a tapping sound, perhaps the one heard before by the sharp-eared members of our party. Their arms from the elbows down would be flat and gleaming sharp like blades, marred with what all of the heroes could recognize as Crystal Eater blood. Their heads start humanoid, but the tops sweep back almost conical in shape ((you know those racing bicycle helmets? like that)). Probably the most surprising, however, is their faces. They lack both mouths and noses utterly, and where we have eyes they have simply a horizontal black diamond that spans nearly from temple to temple. They show far more injuries than we do, and their bodies are tense, but suddenly they both tip their heads as if hearing something.
While they're 'listening' to a sound that we cannot hear (and during this time Banner and Korazjh would pick up on a burst of electrical and psychic energy), Raferties would raise his staff up above his head, speaking in a language that those more familiar with him (likely only Cassandra and Scarheart) would know as his native Solarian. When the prayer was completed, a wave a pale gold light would illuminate each member of the company, erasing fatigue and mending wounds. Sadly, though, Banner's wounds would only half recover, as if despite his being alive the divine magic just couldn't fully take hold.
Thus magic would make the pair back up a bit, lifting their arms in a defensive manner, but then there would be another pause, and they would slowly relax. First one, then the other would seemingly reshape their arms into something much more akin to an octopus minus the suckers and infinitely less dangerous, and one would gesture in a clearly unaccustomed yet universally familiar gesture of 'follow.' This 'speaker' would wait, while the other headed back the way they came.
((Pausing here to allow for any in-group interactions, as well as reactions to the creatures. Please post no more than two times, and in a week or when everyone has posted twice I will update again.))

Tide gave Raferties a grateful smile at his words. She was not alone which was both a blessing and in a way, a curse. She didn't not want to endanger her friends on her behalf, but she also knew that fighting was not her strong suit. She just hoped that would be the last of the things that would try to eat Charlie Biscuit...Hopefully.
The appearance of the creatures surprised her and she wasn't ashamed to admit that she hid a bit more behind Banner for a couple of seconds. After all, the last creature that came around that bend had attacked them. Though as one of them made a follow gesture, Tide blinked. Okay. So they weren't gonna attack, but could they trust them? She had no idea that Korazjh had been talking to their queen or even that they had also faced off with the beetles. All she knew was that these creatures wanted them to follow further into the tunnel and that was it. Then again, it wasn't like there was any other option. Especially since that was the way they had been heading to begin with. Though it would be nice to hear what the others thought.
"Do we follow...Or make a hasty retreat?"

"Relish everything that's inside of you, the imperfections, the darkness, the richness and light and everything. And that makes for a full life." - Sir Philip Anthony Hopkins
The blind ranger stiffened at the approach of the mysterious and bizarre creatures, though it didn't not create innate hostility. Instead of reach for yet another weapon, he would ensure his clothing was tidied and presentable, in a way that only a blind man's rugged outfit could be presentable, and approached with little hesitation.
"If we are given the opportunity to form a unique relationship of trust, we should trust. The worst-case-scenario is that they do indeed intend us harm, at which point we will have to simply display combat superiority and fight in a location of their choosing, instead of here and now. However, the benefits of them being trustworthy, are infinitely massive. I will follow."
It wasn't Hren's way to be cautious, though that could be from quite literally dozens of hundreds of years in similar situations. Why be afraid when you can't die? Seemed a bit cheap in the ol' courage department, but that's simply the way it would always be with the immortal who was forced into longevity.

Korazjh'Iktha, the Gith Warlord who had been engaged with the sentient leadership connected to these beings, would abruptly begin to chuckle in that arrogant amusement. With a quick toss of his head back and forth in disbelief at the threat returned, he'd throw up a hand to assure everyone it was safe. "I wouldn't worry too much about them. She only threatened to eradicate the rest of you if we attacked her guides here, so little to worry about - and as much as I am loathe to admit it, the rope-wielding bat over there..." His hand moved to indicate Scarheart. ... has a point. Fight here, fight there - who cares. Let's see if this mind-speaker who has bared fang in cornered defense can back up her words. Call me... curious."
In nonchalance, he strode to stand beside Scarheart - closer to the newcomers, welcoming everyone else to follow as well. "Afterall, half of us here are immortals. Should be a walk in the park, right?" Those very words would echo deep within Cassandra's soul - the powers of irony and catastrophe were strong with this one.
