"Well, little can be done from this chamber, I am afraid and the longer we remain here, the longer whatever is plaguing your people is lurking in the depths of these tunnels. If one of yours could show us or if you can direct us towards where their link to you was severed, those of us that are willing will search out what perhaps is down there. Any that wish to remain behind, perhaps, could ensure that you are safe or return to the surface to Raferties' library to be assured nothing escapes to the surface." It was not that Ashyana was an impatient sort in the slightest. No, in fact she was normally (and still maintained) a calm and insightful sort. In this situation, however, the Selu'ani was tense to the notion of whatever mysterious creature dwelling below slipping up and taking advantage of their state of rest.
She found the idea of taking the enemy on equal terms to be the best... not allowing them to gain such an obscenely advantageous situation as an ambush that might lie in wake for the delvers. Turning with a bow, Ashyana awaited directions, knowing that the others that had their own decisions and free will.. though a particular individual still had her keeping an eye on him.

((Just as a note if I haven't mentioned it before, Owl has allowed me to powerplay Banner for the duration of the Adventure, despite his having retired Banner during this past week.))
Having been quiet while listening to the conversation, and systems a little dazzled by all the energies in the air, Banner finally spoke up.
"I will gladly help in whatever way I can." Raferties nodded as well.
"It seems that we are more than decided, not that I honestly thought that things would go any other way, you majesty." Queen Illythica looked everyone over for a moment more, then slowly nodded.
If you are so decided, then there is little I could do to stop you. In answer to your question, Tidesweep, there is little that we could do. These tunnels, or what is left of them, have been our home for many, many generations. To my knowledge, we have simply always been here. So maybe your arrival is the Deep's response to my hopes. She looked to the entrance tunnel, there was another burst of psychic energy across Gith and Cybertronian senses, and less than a minute later one of the Sithkin entered. He will take you as far as he is able to travel, to where I lost contact with the others. Perhaps you will be able to find out what is causing the Crystal Eaters to behave so strangely, and put an end to it so the natural balance of the caverns will be restored.
After any final questions or comments were given, the band of heroes would be led back the way they had come, and incidentally back to where they had fought the Crystal Eaters. He would take the northern passage, leading up and around, and through a chamber that bore signs of battles with the Crystal Eaters, acid burns on the walls and droplets of liquified crystal on the floor, and perhaps a bit disturbing stains of what could be the Sithkin's blood, if what everyone had seen of the combatants from before was any indication. But here the guide would stop, visibly shaking as he pointed with an arm to the sole tunnel leading from this room. It seemed this was as far as he was willing to go.
"Hmm," Raferties murmured a touch sadly as he looked around, his Radiance once more illuminating everything. "It seems this is the place where Queen Illythica's Sithkin were slain." The Sithkin with the group would pause, as if thinking perhaps, then nod in a somewhat jerky fashion clearly trying to communicate with its limited ability. "It is alright, you do not need to accompany us further. Please return to where it is safe." The Sithkin would nod again, and everyone would feel a wash of gratitude - perhaps the rest of the race were more empathic than telepathic? - and depart. The angel would look after him for a moment, then regard everyone else.
"Well, does anyone have any ideas on how we should proceed? We are entering unknown territory, to face an unknown and likely powerful foe. I must sadly admit that although I am a Guardian Angel, I never actually went on many true 'mission' for Solaris as my tasks were different than my brothers and sisters."
*~*~*~*~* Ok, it's been a while since I've updated this part, so here you go - Updated Map!

Also, Lore about the Sithkin has been complete! Queen Illythica and her people will be added to the NPC list soon.

"How we proceed? Quickly. If there is a threat, I'm eager to eliminate it. Enough of this skulking about the caverns." Korazjh would speak up from the pack, and move to stand aside the angelic one. With a flick of his wrist, his mind's eye would reach out through the immediate corridors, looking for more signs of that mental connection - an indication of what sort of numbers might be possible? Or perhaps an alertness level of any would-be assailants? It really didn't matter - just some evidence that the threat would be available for the slaughtering soon is all he was looking for.
"I'm sure Ashyana agrees with me, right Long-ears? Let's get this over with." He waved toward Ashyana to move forward and join him in the front of the ranks, other hand resting on his blade with all too much eagerness. Perhaps it was being underground, or surrounded by people he didn't know or frankly care about, or maybe even it was just how long he had spent doing nothing and witnessing 'the miracle of life' - whatever the reason, Korazjh was about to march off at the drop of a hat.
"I'd rather laugh with the sinner than cry with the Saints." - Billy Joel (Only the Good Die Young)
In truth, Hren hated the idea of ever agreeing with the overly aggressive outsider (in the literal sense of outsider) - the method to the madness that was the arrogance of the Gith'yanki just rubbed him wrong. However, as the blind ranger would normally advise caution and investigation, he couldn't help but acknowledge a little bit of sound reasoning behind the General's ideas.
"Strangely enough - I have to agree. Assessing a subterranean threat can take weeks, depending on the size of their tunnels, and that can allow them positioning and preparation. We have a strong unit of combatants here, so I'm pretty sure we should just press forward firmly, weapons readied." Hren placed a hand on Cassandra's shoulder and moved forward to stand beside Korazjh, using his keen sense of hearing to make sure no more of the little bugs were literally on the other sides of the walls, waiting to spring a 'trap' against the weary wanderers.

The Selu'ani frowned slightly at the apparent nickname that the Githyanki had selected for her, but contained her distaste for such an odd term. "Although his phrasing is perhaps a bit on the brash end of things, yes, I feel that continuing to find the threat in an expeditious manner would be the best option. Does anyone sense anything that may be of a dangerous nature to us?" She tipped her head, knowing that she didn't have the most keen of senses out of the entire group, but that another set of ears wasn't going to hurt the situation at all.
Instead of focusing, however, on just what sounds were there, she ensured to listen for what wasn't there, perhaps giving indication as to what would be too skilled for them to hear, but not perceptive enough to avoid echoes or skittish creatures.

Taking a deep breath, Cassandra briefly squeezed Scarheart's passing touch before he moved to the front. She was a little uneasy in these tunnels.. they were confined and beginning to make her feel a bit claustrophobic, in all honesty. However, there were more important things to be worrying about, so like so many others, she edged closer to the front and waited.
No, she didn't have the same supernatural senses that apparently the green-man had and she definitely didn't have Hren's sense of hearing or smell. On the other hand, she did have her magic.
At that, Cassandra figured that it didn't hurt to try and lifted her own hands towards the passageway in brief, the magic almost visibly oozing out of her fingertips to reach out in tendrils of detection for anything that might be recognizable to the sorceress. You never know...

Tide paused for a moment to speak to Charlie Biscuit. It was clear they were arguing and Tide was winning. What finally hit the point for Charlie was Sinet. Tide pointed out that Sinet would probably love to see his new form and with that, he was bounding away back to the surface. With her companion safe, Tide followed along with the group. She did her best to keep an eye out for anything dangerous. Try to be an early warning system.
Not that it was needed as they made their way to where the Sith were lost to the unknown enemy. She didn't blame their guide one bit for their actions. She would get the heck out of there too if her brethren had been slain here and she felt their very last moments. Watching him retreat, she didn't miss Raferties question. Just chose not to answer it as she agreed with the solution offered. Charging head first may be a fool hardy move often times, but it was the best one in this case. They didn't have the time to scout ahead and since they knew nothing about their enemy, the couldn't even figure out what would be the best way to sneak into their lair to begin with. At least Charlie Biscuit was safe and couldn't get attacked and eaten by them anymore. That was something at least.
At Ashyana's question, Tide shook her head. Nope. Nothing on her end. Which wasn't a surprise. Deciding to risk it, she edged closer to the tunnel entrance, trying to keep behind the people who had taken up front positions. No sense in blocking their attacks by accident. That wouldn't do anyone a lot of good. Not a lot of good at all.

James bit his lip as he thought over what the group was saying. Yeah, they made good points. Plus, fighting here meant that they were on enemy ground. and this enemy had the added bonus of being able to morph the terrain to their benefit. So pressing forward and quickly made more sense than sticking around for sure.
"Sounds like a plan I can get behind." He said, joining the others at the front. He rested a hand on Sidewinder. Getting ready for anything to happen. He was out of his element, that was for sure. But he'd put bullets through whatever weird creature attacked them next non the less.

Gwydion was excited, he didn't know what it was that they were gonna face, but the knowledge that it was closer with every step made him more and more excited. On top of the fact that everyone seemed eager to move on quickly? It was like Christmas had come early! He dashed to the front of the group, grinning. "Well, if there's one thing I do well, it's moving quickly. Now, let's go kill a... um... Whatever that big evil thing is!"

Everyone
Banner nodded his agreement with the others, quietly preparing his weapons and selecting the most likely needed combination.
“Then let us proceed,” the Lorekeeper replied, “and everyone be cautious. Solaris' blessings on this endeavor.” Raferties took position close to the middle of the group, so his light could encompass them all and illuminate their path, while Banner remained at the back as a rear guard.
Proceeding along the passage, the next chamber would be a scene of utterly destruction. Broken bits of carapace, spatters of ancient blood, and gouges in the stone that left chunks of rubble on the ground almost as large as Charlie Biscuit (were he present) would attest to a fearsome battle… and the Crystal Eaters would clearly have been on the losing side of things. And whatever had done it would have had enough force to practically restructure the room!
Maneuvering through the room would take some time, but a single, massive tunnel would be the end result. And from within it would sound a low breathing, distant but audible. The tunnel would be short, easily short enough to see the yawning, gaping chamber beyond. Raferties' light would barely penetrate, and even as he took a step forward to try and shed the light further it would stop dead, as if it hit a wall of pure blackness. The sight would force the angel back a half-step.
“Whatever is ahead,” he whispered in his softest voice, “is a thing of pure darkness. I do not know if my light will aid us.” Banner paused, then shook his head.
“There is something ahead, a creature, but something about it is distorting my sensors. All I know it it's big.”
Scarheart would get much the same, the sensation and sounds of deep breaths indicating something that at the very smallest was as large as Banner himself.
Korazjh would sense a 'sleeping' mental signature, but it would be along the machinations of his former Queen – dreaming of domination and conquest, blood and death and fire most terrible. And it was stirring slowly, sluggishly, from this deep slumber.
With this stirring, what everyone else could feel, would be a growing sensation of dread, as if knowing, without doubt or hesitation, that in the blackness only Oblivion awaited...
((Okay, pausing here for any final defensive notes or last-minute planning that everyone may want. Make plans, prepare, what have you. Discuss as much as you want, then when everyone's ready proceed. Boss Fight Ahead!))

Tide shivered as the air became thick with the aura the thing ahead gave off. The path behind hadn't helped her imagination any and she was very glad that Charlie Biscuit was not here. "So big and made of darkness...Sounds like a piece of cake..." That was Tide attempt at a joke. A very bad attempt she would acknowledge, but she didn't know what else to do.
Well...She did, but she doubted anyone else would agree with her. But that option may not even be needed once this thing started moving, so she kept quiet about it. After all, offering to use oneself as bait usually didn't go over very well when most in the party were people you knew.

While Hren merely pulled out his hunting knife once again and settled into the shadows, Korazjh had a completely different plan for preparation. One firm hand would grip upon Ashyana's shoulder as she'd feel the rush of kinetic energy wrap around her body. Slowly, a faintly visible, translucent blue barrier would engulf the Selu'ani. "It's not that you aren't skilled enough to protect yourself. You just have a tendency to draw a lot of attention to your combat prowess."
Barring that, Korazjh would draw the silver knife from its sheathe once again, and with a brief bit of concentration, grow it into its full Greatsword length and Glory. Oh yeah. Battle.

With the pause of the group before continuing, Cassandra's gaze would flicker over her Master briefly as he vanished into the shadows in his 'hunt mode'. Then, with a soft sigh, she closed her eyes and decided that there were enough individuals that were willing to put themselves directly in the line-of-fire and that she could opt to stay in the back. Hopefully.
With a few choice gestures, the Djinn enveloped all exposed weapons in a thin coating of ice, the edges seeming to sharpen with the magical energy. "Hopefully that will help you all for a brief amount of time. I can't guarantee how long it will last, though, so aim your blows wisely."

Draw attention... hm. He does have a point.
"I thank you, Korazjh'iktha. I know little of what this will do specifically, but your efforts and intent are appreciated." The Selu'ani looked over the blue-hued barrier with a faint note of awe in her eyes as she would smile faintly and nod in Korazjh's direction. As it seemed that everyone was preparing themselves, Ashyana slowly slid out in front of those that she knew preferred to stay in the rear of battle and lay her hand on the hilt of her katana. Battle came naturally to her. This was no question. With a flick her her thumb, the gentle ring of metal could be heard by the immediately present and she extended her blade from its sheathe faintly in ready for the encroaching fight. "I am prepared when all others are."

James checked over his revolvers again. His launcher was more than ready to blow some holes in bad guys. now it was a simple task of waiting on the others. He knew it wouldn't be a good idea to rush in with everyone unprepared. So when he finished checking his gun for the twelve time, he simply started to go over battle strategies in his head. Though when he felt his guns go ice cold he paused. Looking down and wondering if Cass's ice spell worked on bullets.
Well, it couldn't hurt at least.

Gwydion bounced on the balls of his feet. Prepare? If he wasn't prepared to fight at any moment, then he was doing something wrong. Though he guessed that it made since the others had something they had to do. Though he just wished it was something... Faster. He wasn't sure what it was on the other side of the darkness. And while most people would probably feel dread and fear heading into this. Gwydion felt excited and ready. Like a kid going to a toy store to get his favorite toy. This seemed like it was gonna be a fight to remember. He pulled both blades. Slightly surprised by the cold. Though after some inspection, he saw the ice form a glinting edge. It didn't take a genius to figure out which team member did that. Lightning and ice... What a combo.
Gwydion moved the the front with Ashyana, remembering his short bow to her in the cave. Well, she was a good fighter to have at ones side. Though that could probably go for most of the fighters here. It was a odd sort, people that could freeze enemies with a wave of their hand. Giant robots that shot flames from their hands. Blind hunters. angels. Yep, he was definitely in some mixed company.
And honestly, he wouldn't of had it any other way.
"OK, once more unto the breach mates?"

With plans made and strategies in place, the only thing left to do was proceed forward into the blackness Gwydion, Ashyana, and Korazjh taking the lead. Their first steps into the dark would prove that it was just as thick and unyielding to any light as it had seemed to be. While Raferties' light wasn't completely snuffed out, it was certainly diminished greatly to the point that it barely stretched beyond the perimeter of their little group. Other visual senses would be similarly befuddled, causing Banner to shake his head briefly in an attempt to set his optical scanners aright again.
Rather than be chill, the cave – whose dimensions were incomprehensible due to the darkness – would be warm; a thick, muggy warmth that made it feel as if clothing clung to skin and each breath was heavy and struggled to be drawn. The only sound would be that of their own breathing and steps…
That is, until a deep exhalation of breath would ripple through the gloom. Closely followed by a Voice:
Hmm… what creatures venture forth into MY lair? Who is it that walks so boldly into the jaws of death? Were time not what it was, I would warn you to leave while I am feeling generous, but as things stand I – heh heh heh – fear I cannot be so kind. You cannot be allowed to leave and warn those above of my presence, or my Master would be most displeased. So, you will simply have to die. This dream pronouncement made with only the barest tinge of malice in the voice, then would come the sound of heavy claws on stone and the whistle of a large object rushing through the air that would be the only saving grace they had, giving everyone warning to duck (or in Banner's case back up) as a dark mass passed inches overhead.
“This darkness shall be the end of us if it is not dispelled!” Raferties shouted as he straightened, then pulled his wings tight, eyes closed and clearly concentrating hard. “Be ready! I shall try to help, but I will not be able to maintain this long!” Raferties began to speak in his native tongue, some holy ritual that caused the creature beyond to growl in annoyance. The illumination that was his Radiance would detonate around him much as it did when he used it to blind his foes, but though it would dazzle their eyes for a moment the spots would fade quickly, as the pitch black would be affected. No longer would it be utter blackness, but neither would it be removed either. Rather the entire cavern would be wrapped in a thick gloom that turned everything more than ten feet from the angel into foggy shadows.
But even that would be enough to reveal their foe: a massive reptilian beast that would be large enough for Banner to ride upon, with four legs, wings, and a head upon a long neck, equally long tail lashing the ground. The basic body structure would be unmistakable: they faced a Shadow Dragon.
Seeming to realize he no longer had the upper hand of his dark abilities, the Shadow Dragon roared so loudly the caverns shook and ears rang in pain, then lunged forward to attack, seeking to destroy these meddlesome foes!
*~*~*~*~*~*
Ok, the boss battle has begun!
Since this is only one foe, and everyone's basically attacking at the same time, I'll be handling it like this: Everyone post once for their actions, no matter how complex, then I'll post results and the dragon's attacks. You are free to create anything in the cavern that your character needs to make your attacks happen, but I decide if they hit or miss. (Example: If you want to say you run up a stalagmite to get enough height, jump off, and hit him mid-air, that's perfectly fine, but I will say whether your hit impacts or not.)
As a special condition of the fight, Raferties is in a Concentration Ritual at the moment. All he is able to do is focus on maintaining the Light. If he fails in this, the room will become pitch black for a round as he recasts. Now, the Dragon is aware that he's the cause of it, and he will try to break Raferties' concentration if able. He may take attacks at Raferties, as injuring him will do this. When Raferties is attacked, I will indicate that the attack is incoming, and anyone may try to interfere with this. If no one does in a way that makes sense for actually succeeding, Raferties will be hit and lose the spell. (Example: if the dragon is swinging his claws at Raferties, attacking that limb would be a viable way to interfere, simply shouting at the dragon wouldn't be). After three blows, he will fall unconscious and not be able to act at all. When the darkness is in effect, attacks will miss a lot more, and the party members will be hit a lot more.
Yes, as this is the last fight, there is a high chance that your characters will be hit and injured over the course of things. I will keep in mind how much damage you told me I could inflict, and if you never sent me that PM then now's the time.
Alright, everyone! Good luck! Time to kick some dragon tail!

A dragon. It had to be a dragon. After the dots from the radiance that Raferties had cast and their opponent had been revealed Tide had to stop herself from grinding her teeth. She didn't know the type of dragon, other than it was black. Black as shadow. That still didn't click that it wasn't an actual black dragon. This was a different type of dragon. And one that was out for their blood.
Joy.
Not really knowing what else to do, she stuck close to Raferties, eyes keeping a watch out for wherever the shadow dragon would launch itself for the next attack. She was also looking for any opportunity to help out when and where she could. She was also mumbling under her breath about why it had to be a dragon. Why couldn't it be a giant, black puff ball? Then it would have been easy. But no. It had to be a dragon. Just had to be.

James wondered if his weaponry would really do anything to that creature. At least anything short of a XHE round. Those shells could probably destroy anything that walked. Yet he was starting to doubt that due to the scope of his recent competition.
He reached into his jacket and searched for something to help out here. Maybe he could distract it from it's sudden lunge. He pulled a flashbang shell. Yeah, that would do. He loaded one and aimed. Straight for the things eyes. Hopefully this would work the way he hoped it would.
THUMP!
Let's see him handle that!

Gwydion looked up at the dragon. Well, this was gonna be fun. He spun Dromonem, he's been planning on adding dragon slayer to his belt. Now here was a shadow dragon, ripe for the picking. He decided since he was in the front, he might as well launch the first attack. Which meant that he was gonna have to make it a good one. Never start a battle on the wrong foot, one of his many ancestors liked to say. He watched the foe leap towards them. Well, it made for a imposing foe at least.
Gwydion let his Ether flow through him, He had held back fighting the beetles. Sure, the sword trick used up a bit. But those were literal bugs compared to this guy. This fight would be worth any amount of Ether expenditure. Crimson lightning crackled down his arms, his eyes glowed bright red. Yep, let's hope this thing was immune to lightning or anything. That would make this attack seem really over the top for no reason.
Lightning cracked forth, a bolt released straight for the dragon. Gwydion felt his Ether fly from him. Yep, he was gonna feel that in the morning.

Seeing the situation as hand had Cassandra's skin crawling. She had seen creatures that eeked shadow and darkness before, but she yet to fight against them in the past and thus she fond herself glancing towards the others beside her in hopes that they had some flicker of recognition on their features. However, there wasn't time for that type of analysis and honestly, that wasn't really Cassandra's "style". She was much more of a random, chaotic fighter. You know, doing what spilled from her fingertips on a whim.
And so, at the sounding off of the beasts' roar, the Marid murmured a string of foreign, choice words that remained soft, yet could be felt on the opposing side of the combat. Her fingers would start to freeze over in a slow progression that would stretch up her arms, changing her grey complexion to a dark blue and stark white instead. It would take a couple of moments for her to manage to accomplish the end goal, but when she did... well, the shadowed cretin was definitely going to regret it. She just hoped that, like Raferties, everyone could keep any aggression from her general direction. The frosted weapons should help with that.
((Ashyana's post to come hopefully soon!))
