Cobalt

Nicknames: 4894-X1665
Race/Species: Warforged
Gender: Technically genderless, but Female Personality (voice, some mannerisms, faint build)
Age: Physical 4; mentally and psychologically around 23
Height: 6'2”
Weight: Around 280 lbs
Build: Powerful
Complexion: base steel-adamantine alloy with a blue enamel coating, hence her nickname 'Cobalt'
Hair: None
Eyes: crystalline that glow typically bright blue-white, but dim the more damage she has taken down to tiny red pinpricks, or brighten when experiencing strong emotion
Other:
A swirled mark engraved on her forehead, around the size of a coin, called a 'Ghulra' that identifies her from every other Warforged in Eberron. Also on her shoulder is a brand: 4894-X1665.
Looking at the inside of her forearms shows a pair of slender 'arrowheads' connected by a few links of chain that run into her arms. These are her embedded spiked chain weapons. (see Equipment)

A little about Warforged: Warforged are Living Constructs built to fight in the Last War on the world of Eberron. As living constructs, they are much like golems, built of metal and stone, leather and wood, given sentience through a process that their creators themselves don't fully understand. They were made by man, but can think, reason, express emotion, question, and all the other things a typical human can. This has led to some very interesting questions, such as how did this happen, what are their limits, do they even have a soul, or are they imitating what they see? Some of these may never be answered. ((Some of how I play Cobalt are based off of our DnD campaign where I made her, but the Wiki link in the race is a good place to get more info))

Typical Attire:
While Cobalt can wear clothes, she typically does not as her Composite Plating is all encasing, and being genderless the only purpose clothing serves is to protect herself from the elements. Her Composite Plating is much like a suit of full plate armor, with leather and wood pieces showing through at her joints. When she does don clothing, it's typically a cloak and for warmth.

Personality:
Cobalt can be something of an enigma, even to herself. But then again, when one was created by men to fight in a war, trained to do so with little input as to social interaction or other 'normals' of the world, then told when the war is over to just 'get lost,' developing one's personality is kind of a shotgun process, with lots of crashes and bumps along the road. But some of it happened during the War – Cobalt is a fiercely loyal being, and when she names someone as 'friend' she will do her all to help them in any endeavor, defend them against all enemies, and good luck trying to convince her that they're guilty of any serious wrongdoing that can't be fixed by a little restitution and an apology! She's also rather fearless, as Warforged are hard to destroy and were made with a bit of a carelessness for their existences. They were soldiers made to fight and if need be suffer destruction after all.

Aside from that, however, Cobalt is, if not gentle, then at least compassionate. Unless someone is her enemy she dislikes seeing them in pain, and can't suffer tyrants. She endured far too much of others having direct control over ever aspect of her life for that to be the case. But beyond that, she's very live and let live.

Powers/Abilities:
As a Warforged, Cobalt has certain racial abilities:

Cobalt doesn't need to eat or drink. She can consume food however, either to share company with friends or because it has a beneficial magic upon it. She however does not have a sense of taste.

Cobalt does not need to breathe. Certain gases, such as those that have a rusting or acidic property to them, can still harm her however.

Cobalt is immune to poison and disease. Effects that cause rusting or corrosion, that directly damage metal or wood, or that affect objects (such as certain sonic effects) cause her harm.

Cobalt doesn't need to sleep. However she can suffer from mental fatigue, and can only commit herself to a single strenuous task for a max of eight hours or so before she must switch to another task. Out of courtesy towards others who need sleep, she often finds some quiet pursuit to occupy herself.

Warforged as a whole are fidgets. They have to have something to occupy their minds at all times or they become restless, irritable, and even can lose their minds to a berzerker frenzy if they are in some sort of confinement without stimulation (such as being buried alive). This can be something as simple as standing guard, or counting blades of grass, though many form a hobby that they do in their 'downtime.' Cobalt draws, and has a fair degree of detail even if she (at current arrival) lacks the materials for more sophisticated works. Sometimes she will use chalk rock to draw even on herself, if no other surface presents itself.

Technically, Warforged are almost deathless. It takes a lot of damage to take them down, and even then unless they are utterly destroyed, or their internal cores (sometimes referred to as a 'schema') is badly damaged, they merely need being repaired to rise again. The brightness of a Warforged's eyes tells their physical condition, as it is bright when they are at full health and dim the more damage they have taken. At near-destruction, their eyes are tiny pinpricks that turn red when they hit an 'intert' state. In this state they are completely vulnerable, for all purposes in a coma unable to move, function, or even think and be aware.

Weaknesses
Aside from being weak to things that specifically target metal and wood, or effects that damage objects, there is little Cobalt is physically weak to.

Mentally, however, is another story. Reading people is a struggle, as she was never taught social cues that many learn from childhood. Certain Peace-time terms mean little or nothing to her, and occasionally she struggles to make herself understood due to her use of more war-time terms. (IE if she refers to children playing in a park, she may say 'cadets training in the parade grounds,' or use Warforged battle-slang). She also sometimes struggles to understand the quirks of flesh-born races and the strange interaction that govern their daily life.

The biggest weakness however is that a Warforged cannot heal naturally. No amount of bedrest and bandages will take the dings out of their plating or mend the wood in their joints. Only magical healing (at half potency), magic specifically designed to repair constructs, specially-made ointments designed to work with her metal body, or physical tools and work, can restore her to health.

Equipment:

Composite Plate Armor: This is as much a part of Cobalt's body as it is a piece of equipment. It can be upgraded through magic and artificing.

Twin Spiked Chains:
These spiked chains are embedded weaponry, contained in Cobalt's forearms. On the inside of each wrist is an arrowhead-like piece of metal with a few links of chain that runs into her arms. When going into battle she can, at the flick of her hands, extend the chains down into her grip to a maximum length of around ten feet, and the 'arrowheads' flare our to around four inches at the widest point. Her fighting style with these is a whirling, all-around attack radius with both arms twirling the chains in circles; she's quite lethal from any direction, but can just as easily trip, disarm, or grapple opponents.

Unarmed Slams: Technically not 'equipment' in the traditional sense, Cobalt's fists are nevertheless quite a weapon in and of themselves, being made of metal and wood. If using her chains is not an option, she's more than willing to come in with fists swinging.

Into the Mind of Metal

Just a few things that might explain how Cobalt thinks:

Warforged were sold to each of the Five Nations, and each individual owed allegiance to one of those states. Even so, a warforged was beholden not to all the people of that nation but to its army leaders. Freed warforged do not consider other creatures their masters but instead tend to view them through the filter of their old lives, placing them in one or more of five categories: commander, comrade, ally, civilian, and foe.
Warforged consider an individual to be their commander if they take orders from that person. Taught to recognize the marks of authority on the battlefield, warforged also categorize others’ commanders and look for their place in the chain of command.
Comrades are those who work or fight alongside the warforged on a consistent basis. The term “comrade” is a label that a warforged uses to indicate that experience. Warforged feel camaraderie for a group or individual after going through trying times, but it is only now, among the humanoids in peaceful times, that warforged are beginning to understand the concept of true friendship.
Allies are creatures with the same goals as the warforged. Warforged always view allies with some suspicion. During the Last War, alliances were frequently broken, and warforged learned not to trust allies to remain true.
A warforged considers anyone with whom it does not have a quarrel or common goal a civilian. Civilians and noncombatants were to be ignored unless a warforged was ordered to do otherwise. Thus, warforged have difficulty relating to others now that they have no masters to tell them how to do so, and many people see warforged as disrespectful, rude, and cold.
A warforged chooses its foes based on its goals. A foe need not be attacked, but a foe is someone to be defeated. When labeling someone a foe, a warforged also looks to see who that person’s allies are and what position the individual occupies in a chain of command. Of course, foes often became allies during the Last War, and warforged often attach less rancor to the words “foe” and “enemy” than do most creatures.

Warforged Phrasebook

Although most of the language difficulties that warforged experience come from their narrow background, they also use phrases and terms that sound foreign to those unfamiliar with warforged training and battle tactics. Most of these terms were created by House Cannith in the warforged training halls for use in the war games in which all warforged participated, but a few were developed by the warforged themselves.
Dis: A shortened way of saying “dispel magic,” this word indicates that a spellcaster should dispel the magic on an indicated friend, foe, object, or area. The type of dispelling or negating magic is unimportant. A warforged uses “dis” for everything from dispel magic to remove fear. The command leaves it to the spellcaster to determine the spell needed to negate the effect.
Ground: This brief command is usually shouted by a member of a unit when ranged attack is imminent. Warforged understand it to mean that they should take cover if possible or simply lie prone if cover is unavailable.
Points north: This command indicates that soldiers should aim ranged attacks or spells at an indicated enemy commander.
Points south: This command indicates that soldiers should aim their ranged attacks or offensive spells at an indicated spellcaster.
Repair: Although often shouted like a command, this word is really a request for aid. Once used only when a warforged was in danger of being destroyed by damage, it indicates the need for repairing magic and for another soldier to take the warforged’s place in the fight.
Rush: This word means “attack” and is usually followed by a single-word descriptor, such as “north” for an indicated enemy commander or “south” for an indicated spellcaster. This command does not necessarily indicate a charge, only what the focus of a unit’s or soldier’s melee attacks should be. Thus, a warforged in an adventuring party fighting a spellcaster with a charmed ogre minion might call to the fighter, “Rush ogre,” while to the others he says, “Points rush south!”
Scarce: Usually whispered, this command indicates that soldiers should immediately hide.
