It was for comments like that that the skeleton wished Taki could also hear the orb. She probably would have brightened up at those words.
As they moved along towards the greenhouse, Cain didn't know what sorcery was following them between the greenhouse and the stable, but he wished it would stop. Maybe go on a nice vacation to the furthest place from them. He was already a bit on edge from just the orb rambling on and on about how his lovely garden was in ruins and such and so on. Cain seriously doubted the fruit tree had been that rare to begin with. Maybe here where the climate might not suit it (obviously since it died and didn't grow wild), but where it originally came from? Unless the orb had all the others wiped out, chances were pretty good he could find another fruit tree just like it. Maybe one even more hardier than the one he had before. Maybe. Cain had heard wonderful things about hybrids when dealing with plants. Maybe the orb could get himself one of those.
The garden seemed to be against them as well. The vines that laid heavy and thick right along the path tried their best to trip them up. Either on to the ground with more than a high probability of a broken or sprained something or onto poisonous plants that were just conveniently growing right by the path they were taking. While he knew he would be okay as would probably Journeyman and Souna (since he was ninety percent certain that since the Athids were technically clockworks, they couldn't be poisoned), he would rather not take chances with Brains and Taki in tow. Not to mention, if the poison clung to his bones like poison ivy oil clung to skin, chances were also high he would bring it back to Dorth when the time came to escape. That was the last thing he wanted to do as well. That and he could just imagine the lectures he would get from...Well, any number of people at the weyr. Namely about how just because he was immune to poison, didn't mean his dragon would share that immunity and so on and so forth.
Cain would rather avoid the lectures.
Cobwebs stuck to his fingers from when he had moved them out of the way to open the door. Trying to wipe them off onto his pants proved to be a bit of a lesson in futility as they just weren't really budging and so Cain just gave up in the end. So his fingers were a bit more cushioned now than normal. Yay. Seeing Taki shiver at the sound of cobwebs being ripped away, he transferred his gun to the now webbed hand and laid the one not covered in spider silk on Taki's shoulder in a gesture of reassurance. Though how much that actually went to reassuring her, Cain had his doubts. They were about to enter the belly of the beast. Right though its mouth if he wanted to carry the analogy further. Or since they were entering from the...
Nope. Cain refused to go there.
The inside of the greenhouse...Honestly, it wasn't much better than the outside garden had been. The only difference was the smell of rot and abandonment that hung in the air. Outside, it at least had places to go. In here? Not so much. One broken window did not amount to much of a cross breeze. Cain could almost feel the Orb's complaints building and building about the state of this place and so instead of trying to listen to another onslaught of 'oh no! My begonias!', he quickly moved to the well, mindful of anything laying about that might trip him on the way there.
"Okay Taki! We are looking for the one stone slab that feels a bit different than the others. Like...How would ya describe it again Orb?" Cain knew full well how to describe the texture of the slab to Taki. He just wanted to get the orb on a different track that didn't deal with plants and waterings and money and the rarity of fruit trees that Cain honestly thought would be dead in a matter of months in a place like this now.

Taki stuck close to Cain as they made their way through the grounds of the manor and the garden. She found the noises just as unnerving, but unintentionally Cain provided her with a distraction in the form of suddenly sensing his nerves.
Well, there was something a Myrgawe could do in this kind of situation! Even though she was creeped out a bit, having someone else to focus on helping with a negative emotion basically let her take her own nerves, ball them up, and drop them into the 'deal with it later' box. Then she Empathically reached out and felt for Cain's irritation and nerves and whatever else may have been there, and began gently Pulling.
Not too much, because she remembered once being told that being afraid like that was useful for a warrior. It made them alert to dangers around them, more sensitive to what they heard and saw and quicker to be ready should something threaten. But just enough so it wasn't distracting him, hopefully.
The Orb itself seemed cheerfully oblivious to Cain's own thoughts, more's the pity.
Maneuvering through the vine-strewn path made Taki very glad both for Cain's presence as he had to help her not stumble more than once, and also for her own feline balance and fae light weight. She did her best to walk on top of the vines as she worried that if her feet slipped between them she'd fall for certain. It was like walking through a net! And the greenhouse itself -
Some people on occasion would see a place and say it felt like something. It felt angry, or empty, or haunted. This place Taki would say felt abandoned, lonely, and very, very sad about it, and they hadn't even entered it! Her nose twitched and not from the dust as it was just about enough to make her want to cry until Cain touched her shoulder. Almost instantly the negative feelings went away, just gone. The unnerved, creepy-chills-down-the-spine feeling the tearing cobwebs had given her was gone, and the sadness was gone, and for a moment Taki wondered to herself what had just happened.
Then it dawned on her. She'd for a moment lost control of her Empathy, had let it run away with her taking what she was feeling herself – the place did look lonely and sad and neglected and stop it Taki! - and twisted it back on itself over and over again, a loop of emotion that normally she should've been able to recognize and stop in its tracks.
Okay, so maybe she wasn't quite entirely recovered. But this wasn't the time or place for another breakdown, and it wasn't that bad. Just caught her by surprise. Now that she was aware that she was having to fight a bit harder she'd not be surprised again. And best not to distract Cain; he was protecting her after all, and trying to solve Mr. Orb's problem too!
*A stone slab?* Instantly Taki began looking around the well's area, rubbing her hands over the ground and not caring for the dirt and such she accumulated in the process.
Wha- oh. That was a mental shake if Cain ever felt one! The stone is inside the well, so if there is a cover in place you will have to move it aside. Reaching in about an arm's length there should be one stone that feels rough, like it's covered in grit or large sand granules. Pressing that one will cause it to swing aside, and within is a lever you will have to turn to the left. The hatch that is the entrance will then unlock and pop up about an inch.

Ploy successful. He had gotten the orb onto a different track. Holstering his gun as he didn't quite trust that well cover to come off with one hand. No matter how rotten it appeared to be. Sliding his fingers along the edge, he lifted it up with a groan of wood and more than a bit of splinters coming off. "Careful Taki. Some of these look pretty lethal." It came apart in pieces, but eventually, Cain got the well uncovered. And added bonus! The rough wood was able to get the cobwebs off his fingers.
"He says that about an arm's length in, there is a stone that feels rough. Covered in sand sort of feeling. Should swing aside when press and viola! Lever appears." Reaching in, he slowly started to feel around, not quite sure was in the well and not really wanting to look right at the moment either. For Cain, he could feel better when he wasn't looking and tricking his brain by what he saw. "A quick turn to the left and we will have our entrance. Should pop up so keep an eye out for that?"

*Okay!* Taki leaned over, one hand holding fast to her hat so it didn't tumble off, and began patting around as Cain did. And the both of them found the exact same thing almost instantly:
SQUELCH!
Algae. Quite a lot of it.
Taki froze in place, then slowly looked up at Cain with her lips in a slightly pout that turned into a smile as she started to giggle.
*Ew! I wouldn't have thought there's be mold still with everything else dead!* Though it was a little gross the surprise turned the situation humorous to her. Probably a good thing, as otherwise it could be a little horrifying to have one's entire hand (in her case) practically coated in green slime.
More aware of the presence of the slime, Taki and Cain would have to dislodge and shove the stuff aside in order to feel the stone beneath. Most of it would be rather smooth, probably a result of who knew how many years' worth of water sloshing over the sides, but Cain would finally after about two minutes of feeling up and down find one stone that would come across as almost startlingly rough to even his skeletal fingers. And with a little bit of force it would click in, pop out, and twist to the side. The lever in the small cubby behind would take a bit more work to it, made stubborn by disuse and the angle a bit awkward. Perhaps it was a good thing that Cain was the one to find it however as his not technically being limited by the normal bounds of a fleshly body were quite useful, and finally after a couple of hits and a firm turn it moved to the left, as the Orb had indicated.
The moment Cain had found the stone Taki had stood up, looking around the greenhouse for the trap door to open. There was so many debris and discarded equipment she started to get worried about nut being able to see it, or it being so buried the pressure would be more than the lifting mechanism could handle and it wouldn't work, or that it simply would be broken, or -
This time she caught the loop before it got too out of control, and mentally grabbed it, stopping it with counters of how Cain would fix it if those happened: he'd simply unbury it, find it with perhaps Brain's help since she could get under things to look, force it up out fix it, and if all else failed they'd find a window and sneak in that way!
CLICK-CLACK!
*Oh!* Taki caught movement beneath a tarp and some decrepit tools, a faint jarring. *I think it's over here!*
Eagerly she hurried forward and began trying to haul the relics out if the way, starting but half-dragging what maybe had been a rake, hard going when it was actually taller than she was, but she was determined.
After some struggle the tarp could be moved aside, and now free of its burden the tap door ground with a squeal of rusty hinges half-way up.
Well, nor quite as smooth as I remember it, but somehow I'm not surprised.
*That was loud,* observed Taki almost at the same time, hands over her ears. A bit of force would open it the rest of the way, revealing stone steps leading down, caked with dust.
Alright, I remember there's a trap on the last four steps. The second from the bottom is a trigger that releases a catch, so when you step off the last stair a pit opens; it is...twenty feet deep. The two above it are rigged so if you step on them a blade will cut the back of your ankles. The bottom step to - or at least was - charged with an electric spell to shock anyone touching it. You'd have to jump and clear all four steps to be safe, and that's about...fifteen feet diagonal, I think. Twelve or fifteen, I know it's one of the two for certain. You probably could make it, but I don't know if she could. But there is a safety switch at the bottom, hidden under a small carving. An image came to Cain, clearly a memory add the image would be bright and vibrant, of a coin -sized catching of a humanoid creature like an off-world Wiccan horned god, then a slight pause. Well, this was an escape tunnel, not an invade tunnel, to be fair, though I can understand how that makes this a little more difficult.
((765 words, Magical Arts - Wiccan COMPLETE! Man, in the Mystery Basket that was this list 'wiccan' was the one that threw me for a loop lol! And I can provide a rough drawing of what the whole steps thing is if it's confusing, Tide!))

Cain looked at Taki as he felt his fingers come into contact with the algae. He would have figured that the lack of sunlight would have done it in, but that would have been logical. Seeing that pout, he was about to point out that she didn't have to help him find the stone when that pout transformed into a giggle. So the pout was just a ploy huh? Cain had to chuckle in response even as he nodded his head in agreement. "Remember, that would be the logical conclusion."
Though it just wasn't a good day for his bones. First the cobwebs. Now the algae. At this rate, Dorth would be taking both his hands and scrubbing them till they shine. Nevermind that bone rarely shined. She would find a way to do so.
It didn't take too terribly long to find the stone. When his fingers connected, Cain almost jerked back. The sudden texture was more than a bit surprising and for a split second Cain had thought his hand was about to be eaten. That wasn't the case of course as he popped up the stone slab.
A quick grab and twist would reveal that it wasn't gonna budge without a fight. Good thing Cain could go in circles all day. Thankfully, that wasn't the case, but he did almost have to pop his elbow out of socket to get the angle just right. "Okay Taki! Here we go!" And that would be her only warning as he twisted the lever to the left.
Withdrawing his hand, he wiped most of the algae off onto his pants as he looked after where Taki had scampered off too. He resisted the urge to laugh, if just barely, at the sight of Taki trying to remove a rake as tall as she was. Or nearly so anyway. Moving over, he set to work helping her move stuff as well and before long, the hatch was revealed.
Both by sight and by sound.
Wincing, Cain nodded in agreement. "But it isn't like we ever had the element of surprise on our side. Besides, no guarantee our host will know what it is that made that angry tomcat yowling like noise.Maybe they think we are trying to drag something heavy over to a wall or something." The skeleton shrugged. Got to try and look on the bright side. Otherwise, he would just be walking away as it wouldn't be worth the trouble in the end if he kept thinking negative thoughts.
Cain listened to the orb and couldn't mask the groan of frustration as anything else. "Overkill much? The pit fall trap would have done it!" Rubbing his orbital bone just above his eye sockets, he looked at Taki. "Got to stay up here for a moment. Not only do we have a pit fall, but ankle slicing blades and electrical shocks too. Thankfully, it is only the last four steps, but still would rather have you not near the traps in case one of them decides to go hair trigger."
Or not work at all. Or even be triggered off far earlier than expected. Wouldn't it be just like that damn field to switch steps on them without bothering to tell anyone? So nope. Wasn't gonna take the risk.
Reaching out, he tugged on her hat. "I'll be back in two bone shakes. If ya hear cursing...Please don't try and learn it. Just means I found the shocking step by accident." With the image of the safety switch in mind, Cain started to descend the steps, careful to tap each one to make sure none of the trap steps got switched before stepping fully on it. The last four came up almost too fast and Cain studied the leap. He was pretty much in agreement with the orb. He could totally make that jump. Worst that could happen was an ankle popping out of socket.
Taking a deep breath, he exhaled as he leaped to clear all the steps. Unfortunately, he was just a little bit off. Not by any dangerous margin though. Taki would just hear an string of cures involving any pagan lightning gods/goddesses and where exactly they could stick certain artifacts that they held. It would be clear that he didn't quite clear the electrical step and the spell was still charged. But the one advantage to having no nervous or muscular systems, was that it was hard for electricity to do any real damage. Didn't mean it still didn't hurt.
Once Cain was able to think and move through the pain, he would focus on finding that damn switch and shutting off the remaining traps. "Well Mr. Orb, ya don't say? I have a feeling this was only the tip of the iceberg."

Taki was willing to listen to her best friend when Cain advised the Myrgwae stay put at the top of the stairs while he went down first, though her tail did perform a quick flick-curl of nerves. The list of dangers ahead was extensive – yep, Cain was pretty accurate with his mention of overkill! - and though she knew his bones were tough, surely it would still hurt! And what if the blades were sharp enough to completely sever his ankles? Would the bones be too badly damaged to be functional and if that happened -
Urk! What was going on with her Empathy?
Quickly Taki nodded and giggled at the familiar, reassuring hat tug.
*I'll try not to!* she teased when he mentioned not learning what he said, tucking her hands behind in her in one of her typical postures, swaying lightly on her feet while Cain descended. She watched as he neared the bottom four, fingers fidgeting with the skirt of her dress, then held her breath as he jumped -
-And flinched as she heard the yelp and the string of swearing.
Oh no, he'd gotten hurt! She'd just about darted down herself before she remembered she'd told him she wouldn't until the skeleton said it was ok, and softly stamped her feet on the floor to ease the urge to see if Cain needed help.
*Are you okay?* Taki called down instead. Though she could hear him speaking (obviously) and moving around she knew it wasn't a devastating injury, but still.
[color-gray]No, not in the slightest, the Orb confirmed. Most of the traps are designed to be disarmed coming from the other side, regrettably, though some are capable of being defeated from either side. They were installed by my ancestors going back several generations, depending on how safe they felt at any given point in time. My father was in particular rather paranoid, as I mentioned before, so you can imagine how many he dreamed up! Thankfully only one was installed, the blades you handily bypassed. The switch, once Cain was down there and looking, would actually be easy to detect though only because he knew what to look for. Otherwise it looked much alike just random patterns in the stone, and when pressed it glowed slightly for a moment, and a loud click was heard from the blade stairs, the electrical trap, and the pit trigger trap.
The next one should be... let me see, remembering in reverse is tricky.... ah! Blade from the wall. Grandfather three times removed was fond of the 'classics.' And to beat it... it's a timing thing. If you intentionally trigger it and time your movements, you can just plain avoid it. There's a way to physically disable it, but that would take long, thin wire and a set of complicated lockpicks. If you have those, then you'd have to first get close to the seam without setting it off, down at the bottom, and first turn the enchanted mirror that 'sees' the passage of others so that it can't see anything – there should be a matching mirror above it for this – then use the lockpicks to set the mirror in place, so it doesn't drop back down. As Cain heard the description he could almost see the mechanism, like he was sharing the Orb's memories which were considerably clearer than before.
((Kinda a short one, but just a stage-setter! I also took advantage of Google draw again for a more multiple-use Trap Diagram page! Word Count - 570+, Wedding Day - Dress))

"Yes. Fine. Peachy." Cain bit off his words, but really, he was fine for the most part. Listening to the orb, he was suddenly glad that was the only trap his father had installed. The skeleton had a feeling that if orb senior had had his way, they really would be sneaking in through a window. As he pressed in the safety switch, he heard the traps go off. Moving back to the base of the stairs, he tilted his head up. "It is okay to come down now Taki."
He would wait till she was with him before telling her what the orb had said about their next trap. "We got a swinging blade up ahead. Orb mentioned it would be better just to trigger it and time through the swings. We could also dismantle it, but that would require wire and lock picks. While I don't know about ya, but my lock picking skills are more than a little bit rusty."
That and he wasn't hedging his bets that they could approach the mirror unseen. Or even get it in the right position. And really. So long as the blade wasn't superhuman fast, they should be fine...Right?
((Woot woot~))

The instant Taki heard Cain's voice calling her down she scurried to join him as swift as was safe. Her ears attentively perked towards him as he passed along the Orb's words, and she nodded in agreement.
*I've never tried to pick a lock or stop a trap, but I don't think a swinging blade is the best place to start.* Though the thought did settle in her mind that it might be a useful and fun thing to learn! Never be locked out of the Weyr accidentally again!
Okay, not that that had ever happen either, but still! Useful!
*So we just have to watch it swing, then dart across when it's past, got it! That sounds easy enough!* She smiled, then looked Cain over. *Oookkaaayy...I don't see any singe marks.* The Myrgwae gave her friend a hug before they continued on their way.
The hall continued along for about seven feet before the Orb gave a warning that the blade trap was . Peering ahead there was no immediately visible sign of it, until Cain happened to spot a very thin groove in the stone floor. There was no visible mark or gap in the wall, so perhaps magic was at work?
Triggering it was simplicity in itself; the moment anything passed over the line - whether it was some part of the skeleton's relatively impervious bones, one of Taki's marbles, or even some other random thing from her bag the blade would decent with startling swiftness, crossing in front of them and vanishing into the opposite wall, then backswinging across again at a slower pace, then one more across and back even slower before resetting in its original place.
*I think I could make it across right before it resets,* Taki commented, eyeing the place it had been. *Maybe one of us should go, then let it reset before the other does?*

Cain blinked at the singe comment before chuckling and patting her shoulder in the hug. Leave it to her to make sure the electrical shock trap hadn't done any lasting damage to him.
The walk seemed all too short before the orb gave warning. Pausing, he almost missed it till he saw that thin groove. "Clever." He could see how easily this trap could be sprung upon the unwary or those simply in too much of a hurry. Reaching out, he triggered the trap and let out a yelp of surprise as he barely snatched his finger back in time. "Okay. We are using a marble next time." But they had the timing now at least.
Looking down at Taki, he nodded and gently tugged her hat. "Ya go first Taki. That way if it looks like ya aren't gonna make it, I can jump in and push ya through." While it wouldn't be pleasant, Cain at least didn't have internal organs that could go...Sploosh. And if worst came to worst, he would just be chopped in half and Taki could learn lock picking. See! There was an upside to that at least.

Taki smiled and nodded at Cain's suggestion, though she didn't like the thought of him having to push her through. While she logically understood the reasoning behind it, for all they knew the blade could cut his spine clean in half and then where would they be?
Stuck, that's where!
For a moment Taki debated what to do about her satchel. Leaving it behind was straight out, but if it lagged behind her it might get cut, but in front of her might trip her up. Finally she decided on cinching it tightly to her side, narrowing the loop that ran across her chest and back so snuggly that it barely moved when she did, then held her hat in one hand and a marble in the other, taking a position on the opposite side from where the blade emerged. With a nod to Cain that she was ready, she flicked the marble across the line.
Immediately the blade snapped out, passing barely half a foot in front of her before disappearing into the wall, then back across again. One more pass, and this time as it cleared in front of her Taki made a break for it, darting to the other side and a good foot and a half past the mark, just to be safe.
*I'm okay!* she gasped, turning and loosening her satchel. *That wasn't as hard as it seemed.* Just ignore the little tremor in her 'voice.' *I can toss another marble if you want, Cain. I have plenty, so it's okay if a few get broken or lost.*

Cain would have held his breath if he thought it would have done any good. But for one thing: he lacked lungs. For another, it wasn't like he could blow Taki across anyway. She was light, but not that light.
Still, till Taki called that she was fine and had made it there safely, Cain didn't relax his stance. Popping his joints to get them to loosen up some, he moved up to the activation point. "Good idea. I don't want to have to react twice." First one to dart his hand out of the way and the second to dart across when the time came.
Waiting a second of two, he would nod at Taki that he was ready. The marble was let loose and almost immediately, the blade came out. Cain readied himself as it drew back and sliced again. At the third time, as soon as the space was clear for him, he dart across to join Taki.
Or would have if he had remembered that stopping and momentum were things that existed. He shot past her and not wanting to hit another trap, angled himself into the wall. It had the effect of stopping him and he waited a heartbeat or two to make sure he hadn't set off anything else. "Another trap down...I don't even want to think about how many more to go."

Taki gave a small yelp of surprise when Cain ran past her, fearing as he did that he would trigger some other trap. But thankfully when the skeleton managed to stop his momentum and they waited nothing happened. No alarm sounded or chuck of stone threatened to fall down on his head.
And a moment later he had a Myrgwae latched around his bony hips in a hug.
*That was close! I thought you were gonna end up falling into a pit or get caught by another blade or something!* That and another hundred various incarnations of the same demise, in as much as she was aware that Cain could be slain, though she didn't bother to mention them.
Let me think....down two, but in reverse... five more ahead, unless some are damaged beyond use. The Orb sounded quite confident about his assessment. The next should be fairly easy to breech: a portcullis with an enchanted code that you must press on its edges to make it raise out of the way. I remember the code. An image of seven runes flickered through Cain's thoughts, one after another in sequence. I can repeat it should you forget. The being would chuckle. Thankfully, this is one of the few parts in the tunnels that works both ways! It should be ahead, obviously, but I will say that I remember a split in the tunnel. One path tips sharply down around a blind turn, and it's perpetually slick with a spell, so once you hit it it's virtually impossible to catch yourself and you'll hit the spikes on the bottom. The other way is the correct one. I know there was a trick to remembering which was which, because when you're coming from the house you have to remember the path for the same reason....Ah! That's it! If you look on the wall where the split is there should be an arrow hidden in the pattern on the wall. It points to the wrong direction, so you simply take the other! There was a thoughtful pause. Hmm, it seems the closer we get, the more I remember. I might even be able to start remembering what happened to put me in this thing, why my home was attacked and who did it.
Taki meanwhile would finally have satisfied herself that Cain was unharmed and be ready to continue.

"Well, that makes two of us there. I think we were just lucky this time around." Cain patted her shoulder, to reassure her that he was indeed alright. While running into a wall was never a highlight, it beat the alternative of finding a trap the horrible, brutal way.
Listening to the orb, Cain bit back a retort about how their luck wasn't exactly running towards any of the traps being broken down. But that wasn't exactly helpful and at least the orb was being a lot more helpful...Now. "Orb says we have about five more to go. If none of them are either broken down or have already been activated of course." Cain watched the runes run through his mind, committing them to memory. "We have to face a gate next. Thankfully, this one can be dethrone from either side by a series of runes...Which I may or may not need repeating in my head."
When Taki was ready, he started moving down the hallway. "He is also starting to remember more. Speaking of, when we come to a split, we need to take the one that won't have us slipping to our deaths. There should be an arrow pointing down one of the hallways in the pattern on the wall. We do the opposite of what it says to do." Cain reached up and rubbed his orbital bones.
"And Mr. Orb, if ya would be so kind as to inform us of when ya know exactly what happened, I think we both would very much like to know."

Taki settled under Cain's touch, finding it extremely comforting.
*Okay, a gate. That's much better than a swinging blade!* Eternal optimist, thy name is Myrgwae! *Ooh, so like a hidden image in a picture? I love those! And that's sneaky to have it pointing the wrong way to go. Everyone else would probably good the way it was pointing. Though I definitely don't like the sound of sliding to our deaths." Her ears went back and she shook her head, tongue sticking out, then shefollowed behind her friend.
I will be happy to do so, the Orb replied. All I can recallright now is my being in this orb has something to do with it, but beyond that everything is still blurry. But the moment I remember I will let you know.
The tunnel to the split would make a sharp bank, and to Cain's senses the presence of Death, old but lingering, would lay upon the stone like a mist. Perhaps previous residents who tried to escape and failed, or unfortunate trap-testers, or maybe even invaders who thought they were being clever and found they were dead wrong.
Ahead was the split, where they could go straight or turn left. Taki's ears perked up and she scurried to the left turn and peering around, then looking back with a smile.
*Coast is clear!* she reported with a happy tail flick, then spun around to look at the wall. *Um... I don't see an arrow. And this looks really cracked!* Glancing at the wall Taki would be right, but somewhere in there had to be the solution! And beyond it, the gate!
((You can feel free to have the arrow going either way - I really have no set answer this go around lol!))

Cain decided to wisely not point out that unless one of the spikes grabbed his skull, it would just be Taki technically. And that was if Cain couldn't take the blunt of the impact from the spikes. But that wouldn't be an issue for they would find the right path to take. Simple as that.
Moving down the tunnel, Cain made note of his Master's work here. It was not recent, but the deaths hadn't been exactly pleasant either. They had left their mark, even after all this time. Cain was going to make sure that Taki's and possibly his were not going to be making that tally any time soon.
Watching Taki, he had to give a soft chuckle at the antic. Though as she pointed out that the wall was cracked, he didn't even bother to let out a groan of frustration. "One of the earthquakes must have done this. Or something." The alternative was that someone did know about this tunnel and thought of a cleaver way to hinder any would be travelers.
Souna let out a faint flash of light as he hovered in front of Cain. The light bulb couldn't have been more literal than that. Laughing, Cain shook his head. "Solution is as plain as the nose on your face Taki." Reaching up, Cain let Souna light upon his hand. "Think ya can go down a passage way. See if there are any spikes?" After all, the Athid could fly and last he knew, slippery didn't extend to air.
Barring illogical field.
But even if that had been the case, Souna was small enough that the spikes wouldn't be an issue anyway. Without a word, the lightbug athid went off down the left tunnel. While he waited for Souna to come back, Cain took to examining the walls for any sort of arrow point. Failing that, he was hoping to find a cause.
It didn't take long for Souna to return and inform them that the left held the spikes. Pointing straight ahead, Cain gave a skeletal grin. "Forward march it looks like!"
