When the sun shone down as warmly as it did, it only stood to reason that a few dragons would take advantage of such and find places to bask, wings spread and languid in the heat.

And along with a certain bronze female was her Rider, a six-winged archangel formed by a god of the sun. Was there any doubt that Keldos loved the warmth just as much as the splayed bulk of dragon beneath his back?

Zalanth and her Rider had found a prime place to relax atop a grassy hill not too far from Haven Village. The dragon was laying on her belly with wings spread to either side and limbs stretched out before and behind, eyes closed. Keldos lay between her shoulders on her back, eyes closed and dozing in much the same manner with wings fully spread to soak up as much warmth as he could. After everything that they had been through together this time to simply exist and enjoy one anothers company was beyond precious.

Keldos was so relaxed that at first he actually didn't register the voice - or rather the Song - calling to him. Then he blinked his eyes open and sent his Song singing back.

And what he was told stunned him into full alertness, and caused Zalanth to jerk beneath him with a snort and raise her head to look over at him, her own eyes large.

K'dos, what was said? Zalanth couldn't understand the Soul Songs of the Chorus, not like Keldos could, but his shock and growing amazement she easily felt.

And in a heartbeat later Zalanth understood too, and it was only her Rider's presence upon her back that kept her from leaping to her feet in sudden urgency. As it was, sensing her wants, Keldos twisted and agilely tumbled from her back to catch himself with his wings midair and land on the ground at her side.

"Go!" With no further encouragement needed, Zalanth raced a few dragon-paces away for both speed and to not knock over the archangel with her downbeat and took to the air, flying high and vanishing Between, then appearing in the air over Haven Weyr calling as loudly as she could, flying as fast as she could, looking for one dragon in particular and vowing not to stop searching for her until found.

Dorth! Dorth, where are you? Dooooorrrth!!

((Okay, just a note for the topic description: Eventually this will morph into a full Adventure, where everyone will be invited in. At the moment though there are a few things that need a bit of set-up, and I need Tide to be posting alone for it. Trust me, everyone will be made aware when it's time to join in!

This is gonna be fun!))

Dorth was out on the ledge of Cain's and Taki's weyr, letting the sun soak into her body. Cain was there as well, hiding in her shadow to keep from getting even more bleached out. One of his guns glinted in the light as he cleaned all the disassembled parts. It was peaceful for once. No battles. No urgent emergencies. Cain was even thinking about going into town and picking up something for everyone when Dorth jerked her head up. The tension in her body said it all and quick as a wink, the gun was assembled and slipped into its holster.

"What is it Dorth?" His head went to the sky, looking for any sign that danger was on its way or already here. But there was no smoke. No dark ominous clouds. Not even a silly one doing the hokey pokey. But there was a flying object that glinted just a bit and barreling straight toward them it seemed like. "Dorth..." The brown still hadn't responded to him and he wondered what was wrong before she finally shook herself and looked down at the skeleton. Her eyes showed her confusion.

It is Zalanth...She is looking for me, but I don't know why. All I know it is urgent, but not life threatening? Or maybe it is life threatening and urgent. Or it could be just that she found something that she wants me to look at. I don't really know to be honest and it is confusing me.

"Maybe you should, you know, talk to her? That might help just a wee bit. And..." He looked up at the ever growing form of Zalanth. "Might want to do it before she crashes into us. I have no desire to be scattered today."

Dorth gave a low chuckle before she launched into the sky as Cain moved away to keep from being knocked over the edge. Just cause he could survive the fall, didn't mean he wanted to take the tumble in the first place. Zalanth! I am here, what is the matter?

Seeing Dorth fly up to meet her, Dorth rumbled in a hurried greeting before nodding for them to land somewhere flat. This wasn't news to share in the air. The place she found was some dragon's outside ledge, but at the moment it was the closest place large enough for them both and that was all that mattered. The actual owner (if the weyr was occupied at all) could take up complaint later.

The bronze was in full honesty panting as she landed, so fast and frantic had been her flight, and when Dorth joined her she honestly made little sense gasping out something along the lines of Solarian...K'dos...Guardian...traveling...world

Finally she puffed out a huge breath, drew in several in exchange, and finally got out the brunt of her news in an overjoyed burst:

They found your eggs!!

Dorth tucked in her wings as landed on the ledge. Whatever had Zalanth so worked up, it was obviously upsetting news. The phrase 'if you aren't sitting, you should be' played though her mind. Cain had sometimes used that phrase but it wasn't usually a necessary one. Right now, it was probably Zalanth who should be calming down as nothing she was saying made any sense to Dorth. The individual words made sense. She knew that many of the Solarians were traveling about and such so that was nothing new, but all strung together like that, it didn't make any sense.

Just before she could advise the bronze to take a couple of breaths, she was doing so. So that was all taken care of and maybe now Dorth could get at the heart of the trouble.

Though as the news was shared, she felt as if the world had dropped out from under her feet. Her eggs? Found? They were okay? Her eyes whirled happiness and fear all at once. So many questions raced in her mind. Were they okay? How many were found? Did they already hatch? Were they nearby? Far away? On this world? In another dimension? So many questions begging to be asked and all at once that Dorth froze for a moment. She was grateful that Zalanth had her land or she might have just fallen out of the sky at that news.

Even Cain didn't have anything to say as she delivered the news along to him before finally finding her voice once more.

Where? Her voice was choked up as she gazed at Zalanth, hope squeezing every fiber of her being. Where are my babies Zalanth?

Zalanth had known the news would be shocking to Dorth - by Solaris, it was shocking to her, and she wasn't even the eggs mother! Even as the brown processed the news, bronze and Rider were in constant communication, Keldos acting as the medium for the Chorus, asking question and receiving information both to evaluate the situation and to pass on to Dorth.

Two Guardians whom were Searching for the Lost Solarians came upon them while on another world; they do not know its name, Zalanth said, finally settled a bit now that things seemed to be moving and her initial burst of joyful excitement was past. When they saw the cluster of eggs, they were both given a strong impression through the Chorus to contact K'dos as once, and one had an image of a brown dragon that would not leave his mind. Both also felt a strong compulsion to remain with the eggs to protect them. As K'dos has informed those on search of your offspring's plight, they easily put two and two together. She paused for a moment, communicating. They are in... a strange place. The ground the eggs are in is a circular cluster of rocks and stones colored red, and the ground is red. But not a mile away the ground becomes green and healthy. There is a fort as well, though they do not know anything about it other than it is manned. they do not recognize the flag that flies from it. Another pause. Out of caution, they have called for two more Guardians to come aid them, and these two are mages; they have put up a holy barrier to help with the protection. One of the initial Guardians is working with K'dos to pinpoint the exact location of the world, then we can go there and get them back!

The bronze paused at a thought of her own, and sent it to her Rider for confirmation before speaking again. We may need help to transport them all, both people and dragons. I am unsure how many there were originally, but the Guardians count eleven eggs. One of the Solarians has moved among them and felt movement against her hand when she touched them; they are all alive and uncracked! Her eyes were whirling with joy at getting to deliver that wonderful news. She could only hope that they were all there - how awful if there had been more!

Dorth took all the information at once. Her eggs. Found. Off world and in a place that sounded quite hostile. But they were protected now. By angels no less. Any other time, that might had struck her as funny, but right at this moment, she was just happy they were found. Her babies. Whole and all in one place. She kept replying the words in her mind, sharing them with Cain who was also overjoyed as well.

Finally realizing that she hadn't spoken anything in awhile, Dorth took a deep breath to help calm her racing thoughts once more. How many others do we need to bring you think? And when do we leave? She had no idea how big the eggs were now, but even if they were normal size it would take at least a couple of dragons to get most of them.

While Dorth had been silent, Zalanth had been gathering information from Keldos and working with him, and through him the other Solarians, on some kind of plan.

Admittedly, it was a rather simple, and thus feeble, one: get as many as they could there, get the eggs, Between back. It seemed so easy.

Perhaps it was a small pessimistic streak in her that whispered it was far too easy to go over so well. Such simplicity was just asking for an IF-style intrusion!

I am not certain how many we would need to carry them, she admitted. I have never mothered a clutch before, so I do not know how well they could survive Between. I know warmth is a requirement, so at the very least we would need something to carry them in, where they could be wrapped warmly. At best... two eggs per dragon? I am not sure. Oh, how she hated having to be so vague! Solid facts, thing she could work with, that's what Zalanth liked. But here there were too many unknowns. Perhaps we had just better put out a general call, and get everyone we can. I cannot hurt to have extra hands and claws to the quest!

Meanwhile, Keldos believed he had a fix on the world, a solid mental image for Zalanth to follow and thus Between to. It was actually far safer than him opening a gate, which might permit just himself and his bronze passage, but likely few else. If he could clearly visualize the place, however, the image could be shared dragon-to-dragon. What his siblings were telling him was a bit worrying, however: there was movement in the fort, as well as on the field a few miles away. Perhaps returning troops, perhaps a conflict was brewing. Regardless, the sooner they got there, the better for the eggs!

Yes...Yes. That sounds about right. Or if we get enough, possibly one per dragon? So at the very least we need six dragons...And so many blankets possibly for slings? Scattered thoughts bounced back and forth so fast that Dorth almost could not reign them in till Cain lent his calm to his dragon. Tail curling and uncurling, Dorth relaxed and formulated plans. While Zalanth may deal in solid facts, Dorth liked to deal with the vague. The anything and everything that could be thrown at her, she liked to plan for. She liked her facts as well, but knew that sometimes they just weren't available. Such as now.

A smaller shape landed just beside Dorth, Nynjbeth looking at Zalanth with cold indifference. It is all well and good that you found the eggs and that they are safe, but what about the rest of us? Those that go to help? How do YOU know we will be safe? Her tone was bored but as Cain was well aware with his younger brown, if there was any risk to him at all, she wouldn't let him go. Or Dorth probably for that matter. The younger one had a heart and Cain knew she would help...Just after making sure they weren't all sticking their necks out recklessly.

It matters not at the moment. I am sure it is as safe there as it is here. Let's make the call.

Perhaps it was one of the things that made Dorth and Zalanth's bond so strong, that they worked so well with such opposite aspects of the planning process: the Abstract and the Concrete.

Quite a few blankets, to say the least. I would estimate at least two per egg: one to carry it in, the other to wrap it with. It would be a huge undertaking, the bronze knew, but given what was at stake, what they stood to gain - and lose! - in this endeavor, she was only too convicted to go as soon as possible.

When Nynjbeth landed, Zalanth couldn't help a small snort. When she'd first encountered the green, there had been some friction. A silent challenge. Granted, at the time they were both younger and Zalanth herself no where near her full size. But she had it now, and was certainly not going to back down at the veiled warning in the tone. Yes, she could greatly respect wanting to be careful, especially when one's Rider was at stake, but she was also the side of Keldos that disregarded self-danger in favor of aiding those whom were in the path of the fire. He was a heavenly High General who led from the front, and she was the same.

I do not know, she replied simply. lowering her head to address Nynjbeth more directly. Quite likely, there will be danger involved of some sort. There is a fort, and it is manned. There is an approaching force of unknown purpose. There is even the journey Between, when any number of things could go wrong. But is that not the life we live? Every trip through that black, is there not a risk of failing to emerge on the other side? On this world, can simply getting out of bed not threaten your safety? And more importantly: in spite of the danger, would anyone dare NOT go, with the lives of so many unborn at stake, unable to do anything to safeguard themselves? She straightened, turning back to Dorth. I will relay to those of Keldos' in the weyr, and they will have the summons sent out. If there is naught that Cain needs, we shall fly to Keldos' location and when everyone has assembled undertake this quest. Solaris willing, we shall succeed and bring them home!

((One more from you, then we can open this thing up to everyone!))

Nynjbeth stood back on her hind quarters and did a slow clap. Rousing speech. Do you practice in front of a lake? Ouch! She rubbed her tail against the spot Dorth had whacked with her own tail. It had stung and after giving the older dragon a glare that got no response, she huffed and took to the sky. She would be at the meeting place. She wasn't about to let her rider go off on this quest alone, but she would be damned if she made it look like she was going.

Forgive her...She is still...Well, I can't say still learning, but her personality is definitely coming through. She got Cain's smart comment streak. That is for sure. Chuckling for just a moment at that, she nodded to Zalanth. Cain has assured me he has everything he needs. He just needs me to pick him up and then we shall proceed...My eggs Zalanth...I can finally have my babies back. They are finally coming home to me. The brown knew she could never repay Zalanth or Keldos enough for what they had done, but that didn't mean she wouldn't try too at some point.

I took no offense, the bronze reassured with a slight twist of her head. I know that Nynjbeth is very up front about her opinions, and as of yet cares little for how her words may affect others. In a way, I can respect that, though for her sake I hope that she learns there is a time and place -and audience - for such. Other dragons or even creatures may not take it so lightly. She joined in the laughter, despite her otherwise dour words. We are facets of our Riders, are we not? K'dos sometimes says he never knew he had a side of himself that always felt the need to carry burdens that were not his to bear, until I hatched. She shook off her musings, especially when Dorth confirmed that Cain was ready.

I will go ahead, she said, giving Dorth a mental image of the place Keldos was so she would have it. The message will ring out shortly. And I am whole-heartedly glad that your eggs have been found. In something of a rare display of physical affection for another not her Rider - something that she only dared share with Dorth - Zalanth lowered her head slightly (still felt odd that Dorth was older, but due to rank Zalanth was larger and thus also taller) to briefly touch their heads together in a sign of mutual joy. Then with a bound and a flap of mighty wings, the bronze was aloft and Between.

Elsewhere, Yolathen, Keldos' Sea Otter Beacon Familiar, had reached the weyr drummer and delivered the message, adding Keldos specific instructions that nothing in the message be omitted or mid-drummed. The content was far, far too important for that!

So even as Zalanth rejoined her Rider, whom was on a knee in the grass listening to the Chorus and offering instruction, and Dorth winged to Cain (a certain green was present too, but pretending she didn't care about being there at all), the rumbles pulsed through the sky and echoed off of the distant Veiled Shrine:

Dragons and Riders and those of Courageous Hearts are needed to rescue long-lost Dragon Eggs! Please gather beneath the yellow light in the sky - Keldos will give more information there! Bring warm blankets!

Some weyr Riders and their dragons would take to the skies a few moments later, the light in the message quite visible thanks to a little help from Raferties whom had used his magic to send up a ball of brilliant sun-golden light like a miniature star. Below, Keldos stood with Zalanth, a hand and his brow upon her foreleg as he communicated the image the egg-protecting Guardians had projected to him. The scholar would nod in greeting for his brother as others arrived, requesting some patience while everyone reached them and assuring Keldos would explain then.

The Quest was on!

((And now the Adventure is officially OPEN TO ALL! I thank you for your patience with Tide and myself; as you can see there was a little set-up going on.

Long ago, Dorth had a clutch of eggs, eggs that were lost when she came to Teragaia. But it seems they were transported to a different world as well, and have now been found! So a rescue is now underway, requiring many willing hands, wings, and wraps for the vulnerable unhatched darlings. But what world are they on? Are the inhabitants friendly.... or will it be a battle to bring the eggs home? Join and find out!

You do NOT need to have a bonded dragon to participate in this, just to make that clear. There will be Riders aplenty, both other characters and NPC Riders available to ferry any in need. All are welcome, and as for Bondeds preferably 1-2 max. Just keep in mind that they need to be somehow dragon-conveyable.

ALSO! Everyone who participates will likely receive a very awesome reward for doing so! What counts as participating? Join, post, interact with other characters and NPCs, perhaps even fight - you know, the general stuf. (be warned though: those who join and post only once or twice are less likely to get anything.)))

Zalanth looked around from where she stood beside Keldos. Where was everyone? She'd heard the drum message loud and clear, and there had been no mistakes. But without help...

Dorth's eggs didn't stand a chance!

((Okay, this is my required two-week update, but sadly there's been no takers! This is an OPEN ADVENTURE now, which means anyone can get in on it. If too much more time goes by without involvement, I may have to close it again to just Tide and myself, though it was our intention to have everyone able to participate and I really don't want to do that.))

<<Did they honestly just-?>>

"Yes, Yuleth, they did. Be a dear and let's gather some of the queens, shall we? They're about to...well, you know. You've seen it enough times, too."

<<The task seems too urgent. Counsel was forgotten.>>

Sandasa drained the last of her coffee cup and hastened to harness Yuleth. Yuleth, in turn, relayed Sandasa's concerns to Alimbeth. And then Mialuth, because it was time to break in the rookie.

Great golden wings flashed brightly in the sun, heralding the senior queen's launch from her weyr and subsequent arrival at the appointed meeting place. Yuleth landed not terribly far from Zalanth and Dorth, snorting proudly at them not unlike a lead mare posturing for her herd -- some traits were universal, it seemed -- and Sandasa unhooked her straps to hop down and join the ground-level congregation.

Wings of all colors glittered in the air around Haven Weyr behind her, riders and their dragons launching off with the supplies she'd had Yuleth have Jahena start distributing for this mission.

"Blankets are not your friend here," Sandasa cautioned Keldos without preamble, because the drums had spoken. "A blanket can only insulate something that generates its own heat, like a body. And egg needs something that contains heat much more thoroughly. Bags of sand. Of course, those are heavy as all get-out and it's advised you take two dragons per bag even before the eggs go in. Three for the smaller dragons. But I'm having the Weyr's riders bring those sand bags now, so don't worry about that. I would worry about the rest of it. Not all of my riders are combat fit -- and I don't imagine you added that bit about courageous hearts because this is going to be a safe mission. But Haven Weyr protects its own. I protect my own. We don't leave dragon eggs in danger."

The implied but unspoken you dolt hung in the air. It was not often things prickled enough to remind that Yuleth's prodigious temper was simply an extension of her rider's, not an island. Sandasa wanted, of course, to be understanding. However, withholding information pursuant to the safety of her dragons was...something she would be Having Words with Keldos about later.

"I'm all for going but I'm not sure-"

"Rookie, shut up," Jahena cautioned sharply, slapping a new set of riding straps against Linah's chest. "Mialuth isn't fully grown but she's damn sure old enough to fly. Just like the drills. You'll be with the smaller dragons, greens and blues. Your partner is Khareesh, Mialuth will be lifting with Myth, they're about the same size right now. Should be the same strength right now too. Now, Sandasa's got the more seasoned riders delivering the supplies, but Mialuth and Myth will need to be able to coordinate and carry one egg back together. If you need help, bespeak Nuluruth. She's a green, her rider's name is Kate, they'll be on deck behind you if they're needed. You heard the drums. Shiny light. Get going!"

Jahena was already barking orders to someone else before Linah could open her mouth to reply.

I understand my part, Mialuth supplied, arching her slender neck proudly in imitation of her mother, not far from Jahena.

Alimbeth herself was also strapped up and ready to launch, waiting simply for Jahena to finish instructing everyone else. Mialuth was beginning to resemble her mother, now, losing her baby clumsiness and gaining the more graceful dimensions of adulthood, slowly but surely. All too quickly. Somewhere in between there.

"Then I guess we meet Khareesh and Myth and get going, eh?"

Do you have everything YOU need?

"Stiff, annoying jacket, check. Stiff leather pants, check. Boots I didn't want to wear, check. Daggers, check. Sword, check. Magic coin that will turn me into a squirrel, check, though I'm not sure I'll need that one. No, I'm good, I just need to make sure I have all of the dragon supplies. This is what I'm new to. But I have you to help with that, and Jahena's boot up my ass, so I think we're okay to go now."

Then mount, and I will show you how well I fly now.

Laughing at her precious gold's matter-of-fact manner of boasting, Linah did exactly that, hopping up on dorsal ridges that would eventually be massive, strapping herself on securely. Mialuth coiled beneath her, and sprang into the air like a creature much more experienced than she actually was.

Posted Image

Aaaaaand we're on babysitting duty?

"You could be more respectful, Myth. Mialuth is one of your queens."

Oh, not just yet, she isn't. When she's bigger. And more punctual.

"Ease up, heart. She'll catch up. Remember, you're a blue, you're fast." Khareesh relaxed into the straps, more at ease in flight than on the ground. Perks of being an air genasi and a bluerider both, heights were relaxing rather than intimidating, and it was with joy that Khareesh rode Myth over the sweeping landscape of Teragaia.

Shortly thereafter, Myth got the telepathic inquiry from Mialuth for the image of their current location, returned the picture, and in moments, the air popped and lithe golded Mialuth materialized beside Myth's flight path.

Nice of you to join us, Sunshine!

Mialuth didn't deign to reply, but Linah shot Myth a half amused, half irritated look across the golden queen's shoulders and leaned forward, which was apparently Mialuth's cue to pick up her pace. The younger and purer-blooded dragon swept forward like she fully meant to leave Myth behind.

Of course, Myth was having none of that.

<<I don't care queen or not queen, nobody outflies a blue,>> Myth insisted privately, peevishly. <<EVEN IF I AM THE ONE WEIGHED DOWN WITH ALL THE CRAP IT WILL TAKE THREE DRAGONS TO CARRY BACK.>>

"Easy, heart, she's young. And her rider isn't, but Linah's still new. And a little terrifying. We'll all get used to each other. And don't let her bait you now. This bag's going to be much heavier with an egg in it, and even with Nuluruth it won't be easy. We just have to make sure the sand stays hot, which is why we're flying long instead of between to get to Keldos."

...wouldn't beween be faster and give the sand less time to cool off?

"It's insulated from cooling off in the bag. At least as long as we're not between, which is the coldest damn place I've ever known," Khareesh informed his dragon idly, watching Mialuth beat them to the meeting place by a significant margin.

Sandasa and Yuleth were already there, Zalanth, Dorth, a few other dragons. Mialuth landed easily. Myth had to spiral in more slowly, weighted down by a large sack filled with sand.

Khareesh stayed mounted rather than going through the trouble of unstrapping and climbing down. He'd just have to get back up again anyway.

"More sand bags are incoming!" he reported sharply, saluting Sandasa. "This one's hot, though. Should probably leave soon."

Guest starring Aletha

You know full well moping around here watching me convalesce isn't going to help me OR the Weyr, Anaeth pointed out, resting as comfortably as she could on the stone couch of her weyr. The Green Mottle was still broken, battered, half destroyed by the offensive in the village of Blackthorn.

The worst of it had been a collision. Pern-blooded dragons were very good about not hitting each other in the air, usually, except that Ardath hadn't had control of his flight path, one of his wings crippled completely. He'd been twice Anaeth's size, impacting her and then landing atop her in the culmination of their catastrophic accident.

Shrayla didn't leave her weyr much these days, too worried over Anaeth. Too ashamed of the mindless beast some foreign goddess had twisted her into. Too everything. Hiding was easier.

Her plans were interrupted, however.

Nobody even bothered knocking.

"I'll watch Anaeth for you!" declared a girl, maybe almost thirteen, brown hair, blue eyes. She had an array of familiar scents around her, most of which identified her as part of the Weyr.

Behind her were that woman Aletha and the toddler, Melorius.

"Well, we are needed," Aletha reasoned. "Zhi here has graciously offered to supervise both Melorius and Anaeth to ensure their wellbeing while you and I go be heroic."

"My mom's a weyrwoman," Zhi declared. "I'm practicing. The spirits tell me I might ride gold someday too."

One might imagine weyrwomen knock before bursting in on their riders, Nathyrra chided. The Hellhound sat by Shrayla proper, closer to Anaeth than the actual living quarters.

All the Hellhounds were with Shrayla, actually, surrounding their werewolf in an insulating layer of very scary teeth.

"Not when the spirits say those riders are being silly," Zhi countered, crossing her arms and rolling her weight forward, asserting herself in the face of a canid fully capable of ripping her limbs off. "Anaeth is hurt, and that's sad. I want her to feel better, too, but you can't just ignore an emergency and mope! Get out there and be a dragonrider, Shrayla! I'll make sure Anaeth has everything she needs. Food, water, someone to talk to, a good oiling, anything. I know where all the healers are, too."

Spirits aside, if you want a PROFESSIONAL opinion on the matter, yes, I believe young Zhi will one day grow to Impress gold, Anaeth added, as helpful as ever. Go, Shrayla.
Take Tiombeth and get Dorth her eggs back. You have Kytos and Evergleem to make the trip with you. Take Dorna too, for communication's sake. Bring me back something nice.

Finally pestered into action, Shrayla unseated herself from her own couch and geared up, flight kit thrown on out of habit now instead of her previous normal -- armors and clothing she had once worn habitually now gathered dust in her wardrobe -- and Evergleem got secured to her belt.

Not that the talking sword was the brightest candle in the chandelier, but it was always nice to be armed.

Dorna landed on Aletha's shoulder to wait, the black mottle firelizard silent and scrutinizing. She blended in well with Aletha's thematic black armor, which was perhaps why she had chosen the blackguard's pauldron as a perch.

"Tiombeth can carry both of us," Shrayla told Aletha, beckoning for the taller woman to follow her around Anaeth, to another weyr along the ledge. Tiombeth had adjacent sleeping quarters, as was the case for most riders who had more than one dragon to juggle. The ranger grabbed her straps on the way by, including a set for a passenger. "You won't be used to dragon flight. Especially not these dragons. Don't try to bravado out of safety straps and remember between only lasts eight seconds or so on average."

I promise to make your first flight as easy as I can, Tiombeth vowed quietly as Shrayla threw on and secured the leather straps that made up his riding harness. But I usually do anyway.
Shraymine doesn't like heights.

"You try being on a flying city when it starts falling and see how much you like heights after that," Shrayla grumbled, yanking a strap into a buckle and pulling it into place. It had the tired, flat ring of a very old argument. "We're almost ready to go. Come on, just behind me. Then do what I do with the safety straps."

"You're the veteran," Aletha conceded, watching Shrayla mount the dorsal ridges of Tiombeth's shoulders before following suit, stepping on Tio's helpfully-offered foreleg to heave herself up. The straps were not easy for the unpracticed, but they were both safely secured before Tiombeth lifted off.

I have the image from Myth. I will take us between to the meeting place to introduce you to it, Aletha.

"Alright, what does th-"

Aletha's query cut off abruptly not because she had stopped speaking, but because sound had stopped existing, as had air, light, heat, sensation, weight, BEING. Time and space were suspended, there was simply nothing.

Between wasn't even really dark, if Shrayla could describe it. It was that blank emptiness she found if she shut only one eye instead of both. Blindness of having never known sight instead of losing sight to blindness. Sound had never been born, there was no touch, not even Tiombeth between her thighs. And it was cold. So cold. It was almost as cold as Cania, and Cania was the kind of cold that shattered bones as blood froze and shredded muscle like shards of shattered glass.

Just as soon as Shrayla could start to think about the lack of air to breathe, though, they were back in the world again, in the air, in the sun.

"You can't hear yourself scream in a place like that," Aletha mused behind Shrayla. The rough edge to her almost masculinely deep voice suggested she had tried exactly that. Rumor had it almost everyone did. Shrayla had howled, but, werewolf. "Thank- thanks for the lesson, Tiombeth."

My pleasure, the brown mottle rumbled, pleased to have been helpful.

He coasted in for a landing not far from Dorth, perhaps in solidarity of rank. But Shrayla and Aletha were both veterans of action. They were waiting for action plans before they really rang in.

((Don't anyone worry! You haven't missed an update - I just realized in advance-typing my update that there was something Keldos would ask that could change situations as they happen, so I decided to go ahead and post this to give Belial a chance to reply as her. ))

Keldos was pleased to see arrivals, and gave a nod to Weyrwoman Sandasa when she arrived. Her instruction, and the silent chastisement that went with it, was accepted with a small nod of understanding.

"I admit my understanding of eggs is slim," the archangel confessed, though in his eyes and his voice there was a sense of being only half there. Another part of him was Communing with his siblings and giving instruction, getting information. Through Zalanth he understood his superior-in-all-things-dragon's advice would be quickly spread from dragons to those in the right position to make the adjustments, so all was in order there and he trusted would need no further input from him.

Granted, there was the IF that could make all things moot, or the fact that Dorth was technically not a Teragaian dragon, or the fact that the eggs had been transported to a different world altogether and who knew what had happened to them in the meantime...

Ah, just the first part alone was likely going to make this interesting.

"I am expecting trouble only from what my siblings protecting the eggs have told me: there is a fort nearby, and a force that amounts to an army is drawing close with unknown purposes. I prefer to expect trouble, than to not and be surprised by it. To be surprised in the other direction is usually much more pleasant." After a moment's pause, he added in a quiet undertone more for Sandasa's ears than anything, "And I apologize if I have given some offense by my actions. I would never think that you would leave any dragon, or dragon egg, in peril without taking some action, just as I have." Perhaps some (like a certain Guardian brother of his) might scold him for his rather cool tone in speaking the apology, but again mind in two places at once. The High General of Solaris' entire heavenly host was on display now, and with that came a faint zeroing out of Keldos' emotional side.

Zalanth looked to the sky at the arrival of Mialuth with Linah, Myth with Khareesh, and Tiombeth with Shrayla and Aletha. The bronze flared her wings slightly in a gesture of greeting, though with mixed feelings. Personally she had little experience with the former sets, and neither did her Rider save for one rather odd dream involving the air-affinity being, though when the bronze recognized Shrayla she felt a pulse of gladness from Keldos. Zalanth remembered how Keldos, privately, found something in Shrayla to be familiar to himself, and when she'd gone into virtual seclusion following that disastrous battle at Blackthorn the archangel had worried more than usual about her, injured dragon or no.

Aletha... there was a respect-hate relationship if there ever was one. They clashed far more than they cooperated, though Keldos could appreciate and even applaud her dedication and skills. Yet at the same time, both dragon and rider thought that considering what Keldos believed may lie in store having such a potent combatant would be invaluable.

When Khareesh made his report to Sandasa, it was on the tip of Keldos' tongue to speak first. But he was canny enough to understand that he'd made something of a faux pas earlier, though exactly how he could've done things differently - a distance from the weyr and barely having more information than he'd sent to the drummer - was something he'd try to work out later. He gave Khareesh a nod of greeting, filing away the information, and paused stone-still to receive another burst of information from his kind.

"The army is massing at the fort, and a battle is ensuing," he commented with a dark frown. "Thus far the eggs are unobserved, but I do not believe that it will last long. The fort defends itself, but what forces or power they command are unknown." Another small pause. "The army has magic at their disposal. The arrival of the dragons will not go unnoticed by any of them, and we may be taken as allies to one side or another and targeted. While normally I would not fear for any of the dragons, this is a different world, and their capabilities are unknown." He cast his eyes to Sandasa.

"Do you have any suggestions to our best options?" High General though he may be, he fully recognized the value in Generals, as it were, utilizing their best talents for a common goal, and wasn't above taking advice from those he respected. (Even if sometimes he doubted that he'd earned like respect back.)

Bare feet thumping across the ground the woman vaulted a stump her hands scraping against the wood as she traveled she took a deep whiff of the air nostrils flared. 'tch been too long Comairle I don't recognize this spot. Ah well 'slong as we get there in the end"
Her voice was gravel and rough but perhaps once pretty it carried a hard accent that had softened with the years she'd been traveling. Her landing on the planet had been rough and even more so as the residents where a mismatch of all the things she knew as black and white.
She was incredibly restless the entire time she'd been wandering about town, thanks to Comairle though she felt that she could now face the strange land less a paranoid stranger and more a native much like anyone else.
She bounded across the grass in great leaps surefooted as the deer that roamed the woods with her. Mouth open her sharp canine teeth glittered in the sweltering heat of day, she disliked the big ball of light that hung upwards in the sky but that was where comairle said they must meet, that is if she wanted to see familiar faces and perhaps some new ones too.
Racing the rather large gargoyle Comairle remained calm and contemplative along their journey as he always did, as for her other two companions? somewhere roaming the city she supposed, her Cenel very fond of Raegel.
"almost there?

Comairle rolled his stony eyes, if there was one thing Absent hadn't grown out of was her impatience, he grunted an affirmative and began to slow his flight a strange looking thing to see but no less impressive. Absent on the other hand squinted, there ahead of them where several people, most of them she didn't recognize, or at least she didn't until she drew closer.
faw Comair see? if we'd vaulted the andersons house we'd perhaps arrived a little sooner!
Leaping a few stones her feet slowed and she came to a stop near the group of very large and very shiny dragons. Poor Absent wasn't doing too well in the blinding light all around but that was okay, she merely wilted beneath it much like a shadow may have, she would've easily slipped for perhaps one near the dragons or another person but much like Comairle said it was 'rude' to just take up someones shadow like one would take up anothers home.
eeeh otherwise, here we are. Whatever here is? Comairle you said this was it right? oh hey you look like Raf. Her voice trickled on and on as her eyes landed on Keldos and his strange flappy appearance, oh man she couldn't help it, they all looked like over grown doves with too many protrusions to her and they all about looked the same that way in her eyes those angels of Weyr.
