Keldos’ eyes widened slightly at hearing Lost relate his true age.

“Nineteen? Then I feel I owe you an apology, for I mistook you for a young child. Though perhaps I should have known better, given your actions against our opponent.”

Raferties turned back at hearing Lost's offer, pausing so they could catch up the few paces, and a thankful if still worried smile found his face.

"I cannot express how grateful I am for that offer, Lost," the Lorekeeper replied. "Thank you, so very much." He paused in thought to consider the offer of joining in the search. “While I would like nothing more than to be there with you should they be found, I feel I should make for the source of the light. There is a chance that if Belial and Kaya are heading there, that I will miss them if I do not.”

“Then perhaps Lost should know what Belial looks like,” prompted Keldos, as he could tell his brother was still a bit distracted by his worry.

“Ah, yes. Belial is shorter than I, a few inches above five feet, with dark hair that is usually tied back. He may have horns, a ropy tail, or spiny wings visible, though that is not certain - he can shapeshift, making any of them appear at will. Kaya will be much easier to identify. She appears to be four or five years old, with feathered wings like mine, only black instead of silver-white.” Here Raferties paused, realizing that there was a chance that even should Lost find them, they would be suspicious of someone saying they had seen the Lorekeeper without some form of proof, so he removed his purple sash and folded it up, holding it out to the fae. “I am certain that if you show Belial this, he will know that you speak truth when you say you saw me.”

“I will go with you to the light, brother, then if Belial is not already there head out as well to search,” put in the Archangel.

And I will accompany your brother, Orthau finished. Although I cannot sense the others of our family, I can sense you well enough, Bonded. I shall not lose my way to find you. Raferties nodded in agreement, then looked himself over at remembering the offer of medicine for wounds.

“I believe I am unharmed, other than a little bruising. But that will fade likely before I reach my destination.” Keldos nodded that this was the same for him; his armor had held up well. Still, they would wait with Lost for his companions to arrive.

From somewhere in the fog, Anari heard a loud, clearly draconic roar. Her heart leapt in sheer fright - where had she been sent? She remembered, in chilling detail, stories about a Dragon Highlord homeland, an island that no one know the location of, where they had all originated and occasionally returned to.

Was that where she was now?

If such was true, there was no protection to be gained from the rock. She had a choice: run towards the sound, and go out fighting if it was her time to die, or flee and hide in fear.

Anari had long ago decided that choice.

Gritting her teeth to hide the knots in her stomach, she pushed off of the rock that had up until that moment protected her and quickly, but carefully, moved towards the noise. She had to limp a bit, as the moisture slickening the ground was making her leg tense for balance and causing some discomfort, but there was pride in her steps.

Abruptly, just as she'd left the area of her entrance behind - and realized that she was seemingly moving towards a light in the distanct - she heard something else that caught her attention and diverted her course.

Was that... the voice of a child, calling out?

Instantly, Anari the Rebel turned into Anari, Watch Lieutenant aka L.T., and she shifted her steps in the direction of the sound, concern pushing away both her fear and her confusion. No matter what, if a child was in any sort of danger, she would do her best to remedy the situation.

While hearing Lost and even getting to him would be a rather simple affair, getting back out of the ring of mountains would prove to be much harder, as the gap that allowed Sage and Orison to enter would close utterly behind them with a grinding of stone against stone, leaving nothing of their passing behind. At least they were still able to sense their way to Lost, and whether the group was closer to the mountains than they could have guessed or it was simply a trick of the Illogical Field, both familiars would find them within a few minutes. Everyone was still just as lost in the fog, but hey, at least it seemed there was a plan, right?

Tidesweep

The fog, thick and almost all-obscuring, would make travel indeed rather unnerving. Shadows flickering and wisps of misty moisture swaying would cause the eyes to play all sorts of tricks. Sound would at times become muffled, then suddenly louder as if what had created then was right behind her. At least, though, the lighting would remain mostly continual, if diffuse in nature, neither lightening or darkening other than the point that was drawing her onward.

A sound would suddenly cut through the relative silence, a faint roar from the distance, and a closer call of a female voice: 'Who's there? I warn you, I am armed!" Whether the voice called in reaction to the roar, or to some noise elsewhere, it was hard to tell. But hey, it was a voice, right? Softly echoing footsteps would show that whoever the speaker was, they seemed to be moving slightly away from Tide, maybe towards whatever had provoked the shout in the first place.

Legion
Legion's voice would find an answer, in a sense, as soon after the autobot had spoken an avian screech would break the silence from high above, as a winged shadow made itself visible through the fog. Following its flight, it would seem to be heading towards a light in the distance, one set high up as if atop a mountain or plateau. Other than a few sickly shrubs and barren trees, all of which looked blackened as if from a fire, it was the only landmark in sight. Perhaps it was civilization?

Any movement forward was quickly halted, however, as his first steps would sink quickly up to his knees - it seemed he'd landed right on the only solid ground in a rather large patch of Lightning Sand!

((and the Princess Bride references continue - I swear I didn't plan for them initially!))

Raeneth

Darting and weaving amongst the fire geysers would prove to be a little harder than it might sound, as they were unpredictable in their explosions and only the rapid noise would be any warning, causing a few scorched bits of clothing for Raeneth's uncle, and a few near-misses for her shinies. After the dash, however, those that had run from the area would find themselves stepping from the fog to face a large chasm. The light that they had been faintly following would be still ahead of them, across it... and no bridge in sight.

Meanwhile, the RUSes that had suddenly found themselves faced with more opponents shrieked in rodent voices, one quickly falling to the knife and the other to the Sand's teeth. The remaining three snarled in a manner that rats probably should never be able to do, circling around their opponents and snapping teeth together. With a low, hissing snarl, they rushed forward in a frenzy!

Lost smiled at Keldos. "Please, do not worry about it. It is not the first time I have been called a child."

It seemed that they wouldn't have to wait long for the two Familiars to arrive. Orison and Sage had successfully managed to find their way to the group, with aforementioned Angel carrying a small bag in his mouth.

It is good to see that you are safe, Sage greeted, as Orison placed the bag in front of Lost. "I am happy to see the two of you unharmed as well," the twilight faerie replied.

He glanced over at Raferties as the angel made the decision to head towards the light rather than join Lost in searching for Belial and Kaya, in the hopes that maybe they would also be heading in that direction. "I wish you the best of luck, Raferties." Lost opened up the bag to reveal a wide array of potions that Orison had made. "I would like you to take some of these with you, however. Orison is quite skilled at making healing potions, and I would not wish any of you to become grievously injured in your journey."

The twilight faerie handed them some of the potion-filled bottles, and then closed the bag again. He listened intently to Raferties' description of Belial and Kaya. and accepted the folded purple sash from the angelic male, placing it carefully in the bag alongside the potions.

"In the name of my Mother, I vow that I shall find and bring them back to you safely," Lost promised, sincerity in his eyes. "Orison, Sage, it's time for us to begin our search." Take care of yourselves, Orison added. We shall return as soon as we have found the both of them. With that solemn promise, the small group of three turned and headed in the opposite direction, all with the same goal at the forefront of their minds: to find and return Belial and Kaya to their loved one. And the sooner the two of them were found, the sooner their injuries could be treated (should they have any) and the sooner the family would be reunited. "Can either of you sense anything?" Lost inquired of his companions once they were out of earshot of the two angels. Other than that of the angels and their companions, I can sense several faint presences scattered about this area, Sage answered. Most of them are alone...but there are two that seem to be together, Orison added.

Lost nodded. "Mother, please guide us to the location of Belial and Kaya," he said softly. A light, similar to that of a will-o'-the-wisp, appeared in front of the trio, bobbing gently in front of them.

They walked for a while, following the small light as it guided them over the terrain, before it suddenly stopped, hovering in place. We are not very far from their location now, Sage said quietly. Let us hope that they are unharmed and well. Lost nodded in agreement with the small Scholar, and took another few steps forward.

The fog was so thick he could barely make out the two figures, one being cradled in the larger one's arms. "I am Lost, and these are my companions Sage and Orison. We come on behalf of Raferties to find those known as Belial and Kaya." As the twilight faerie spoke, he took the angel's sash out of the bag of potions.

Tide got the feeling something was watching her. Chills were sent down her spine every few minutes cause of how thick the fog was. The fact that none of them could see more than a few feet in front of them did not help at all. Charlie Biscuit and Sinet flanked Tide at either side, while Auriaco and Ayiama lead the way in front.

It was especially bad in the creepy department whenever the sounds sounded like they were coming from right behind her. At that point, Tide would spin around to give a quick look while her companions paused in their walking to make sure they wouldn't lose her in the fog. None of them made a comment about her being paranoid. Not even Sinet. They all understood.

At the female voice, all jumped and turned towards the direction it seemed to be coming from. They weren't too concerned about the roar. It hadn't sounded as close as the voice did. The voice also sounded like they were in trouble too. While Sinet could ignore the call, she couldn't ignore Charlie, Tide and Ayiama moving towards the cry. In Tide's and Charlie's case, they were rushing through the fog. Ayiama was moving at a more sedate pace, but that didn't mean she was too far behind.

Come on Sinet. We have to be there for back up. Unless you really want Tide and Charlie facing whatever it was that made the unknown female shout out like that alone. Sinet would grumble, but she followed the others as they ran towards the voice. She hated logic. Especially when it lead to trouble for her bonded, but she couldn't fight it. At least not this time around anyway.

The only question remained: What would meet them when they finally caught up to the voice and could they face it and come out alive?

Anari jerked about as she moved towards the voices she heard, hearing a sound echo through the fog. Footsteps, approaching. Quickly she twisted to fully face the possible threat. Warily listening for the dragon's roar, she set her flail whirling through the air at her side, only to let it fall when she caught sight of Tide and Charlie Biscuit emerge into view, mist trailing around them.

"Who - who are you?" Granted, seeing a human, even one accompanied by some kind of... glowing deer?... was much better than catching sight of a dragon or DHS any day. "Do you have any idea where we are?" She didn't quite settle out of her defensive stance - better safe than sorry, though she wasn't inclined to think either of them was an actual threat.

Tide skidded to a halt in front of the strange women, barely grabbing Charlie Biscuit before he could run up to her. She didn't like the look of that weapon at the woman's side and she didn't want Charlie beaten again. Sinet was the next to skid to a halt, her red nose glowing brightly as she shook her antlered head in a threatening way at Anari. Two could play that game lady! Ayiama and Auriacio were the last to arrive and the first to speak as Tide was still a little wary and too busy looking for what had made the woman to shout to begin with.

I am Ayiama. The orange star on my back is Auriacio. This is my bonded Tide. The orange deer is Sinet and last is Charlie Biscuit. She nodded to each in turn, being careful not to call Charlie anything other than a sceltyr. She didn't need him to add to the confusion going on right now.

Sinet answered next, pawing the ground. You are shouting up the wrong tree lady. We have no f---ing clue where we are. Other than not home. Tide finally spoke after seeing that the danger seemed to be out of sight...For now anyway.

"Sinet, please be nice. And it is true. We mean you no harm and we do not have any idea where we are. Do you have any clue?" She had noticed that Anari hadn't moved from her defensive stance and put a restraining hand on both Flamma. Last thing she needed was a fight so far from home. If she could make peace, she would try that first and if she couldn't...Running was always an option.

Anari slowly relaxed as they spoke, though it wasn't until Tide did that she fully came to a more neutral posture, letting the spinning flail slow and fall back to her side.

"I am Lieut - I'm Anari Warden." Out of habit the title nearly slipped from her lips, but she remembered that she hadn't been a lieutenant in a long, long time, or at least so it felt especially at the moment. "To be honest, I thought you were a DHS, after hearing that horrible dragon! But you don't have the look of one." She slid the weapon back into its holster at her side, approaching and keeping a wary eye on Sinet as she did so. "Unfortunately, I have no idea where we are . I was sent here by the Dragon Highlords through a magic circle. One minute I'm in their Spire, the next I'm here - Arg!" She barely bit back the cry of pain as her right leg buckled out from beneath her, making her grasp at a nearby tree for balance even as she cursed under her breath. Adrenaline from hearing the roar had given her strength, and now the abuses she had endured for who-knew-how-long were beginning to catch up with her.

"I'm sorry," she said with a hopefully dignity-saving, rueful smirk. "You've caught me not exactly on my best day."

"DHS?" The look of confusion that crossed Tide's face would have been priceless if Sinet hadn't picked that moment to speak. Dragons are horrible aren't they? At that, Sinet actually relaxed. Someone else who could live without the things that could conjure what her bonded was most afraid of! It was like a miracle. Or divine intervention. The flamma didn't really care which it was.

Tide just let it go. It wasn't worth it in the end. Trying to teach Sinet manners was like trying to teach a fish to fly. Without an illogical field, you might as well give up.

It was just a bit disappointing that Anari didn't know where they were, but that was quickly replaced by concern as Tide rushed forward to help the former lieutenant. "That is okay. What day is a good day when you suddenly discover you are not where you are suppose to be? Though from what it sounds like, for you that might be a good thing." Looking at Ayiama, both her and the familiar shared similar thoughts.

"We can travel together for awhile if that suits you. Sinet and Charlie can light the way and Ayiama would be happy to carry you. Give that leg a rest." At that moment, Auriacio flew over and offered Anari a leg. Well, more like waved it in front of her face till she accepted it. There! He gave you a new leg! The fact that the size difference made it impossible to use was just a little lost on him. Just a little.

I would be happy to assist you as would it seem Auriacio. Please think it no burden upon me. Ask Tide here. I carry her all the time. Tide grinned and bent down to kiss Ayiama's scaly head. "Yes. Please accept. At the very least, it will allow you to gather up your strength. I have a feeling we might need all the strength we have. I do not like the fact that the fogs hides more than it reveals." She repressed another shuddered at that comment. That was the last thing she wanted to think about.

Anari shuddered, just how cruel dragons were flickering through her mind.

"You have no idea," she replied to Sinet, before she replied to Tide. "The DHS - Dragon Highlord Soldier. Do you truly not know who they are?" A small spark of hope ignited - could their magic have taken her from her world entirely?

The offer to travel together was met with an approving nod, as it was the wisest recourse, though it was pretty clear it took her a bit of battling with her pride to accept the offer of a ride. Auaiacio flying up in front of her face too her aback a tiny bit, though she smiled finally and gently clasped the leg extended to her. "Thank you for the offer." She slowly climbed onto Ayiama's back, her leg grateful for the respite. "I can't tell either where sounds are coming from. Just a moment ago I thought I heard a child's cry, but I can't be certain where it came from or if it was even real."

Tide shook her head at that. "Nope. No idea. Least, where I came from there was not anyone like that. Are they nice?" The Flarean doubted, but figured she asked anyway. Just in case she ever finally met any, she would know if running away or staying nearby would be good ideas.

Tide nodded slowly as Sinet took point and Ayiama took middle. Auriacio plastered himself on the familiar's head while Charlie and Tide took up on either side of her. "To be honest, I am hoping the light is a good thing and not a trap." The thought only now entered her mind. Was the light a good thing or a bad thing? Only one way to find out really.

"Nice... no, the DHS - and their dragon masters, the Highlords - are most definitely not nice. They are tyrants, all of them."

As they began moving again, the former lieutenant looked around, trying to find anything that could serve as a landmark other than the odd light.

"I'm hoping the same thing. At the very least, it's too stationary and stable to be something like a campfire or bonfire. So maybe a building? And a building means people ." She looked to the side to regard her new companion. "So, if I may ask, where did you come from, since I take it 'here' is not it?"

The fact that it wasn't a fire improved her mindset about the light. She didn't think it was but now knowing for sure was a lot better. As Anari asked the question, Tide wondered the best way to explain it. It was difficult when technically, she wasn't even from Planet either. "I am from a planet called Flare. Originally. Though the place I came from to here was called Planet. So I guess you could say I am a bouncy person." She gave the woman a smile, glad that she at last managed to escape her tormentors. Tide had dealt with no so nice people herself and she knew the relief felt when you finally escaped them.

"If the light is not a trap...Do you think it is a way back to...I guess not home persay, but to wherever we were before?" Sinet glanced back at the two, knowing that Tide both hoped and feared it was. The deer didn't understand the fear, but knew about the hope. Ayiama understood the fear though and knew it wasn't fear for herself that was causing the emotion in Tide. It was fear for Anari and her going back to her place and to the mean DHS and the highlords.

Anari smiled back at Tide, finally feeling her nerves settle a bit.

"So you're quite well-traveled, hmm?" She chuckled softly. She paused to think about the question, head tipped slightly. "If it is... I think I'd rather stay here, even in the fog, if it's all the same to whoever or whatever the light is. Even endless fog is better than living in fear, and running, or having to stand by and grit my teeth while those damn soldiers do whatever they please with whomever." Plus, if I stay here, and this isn't some sort of insane dream, then their sought-after weapon will be out of their hands, forever! Not seeing home? A viable sacrifice, one she was wiling to make.

Everyone

A pair of glowing eyes peered out from on high, penetrating the fog and seeing each of those in the valley below. The being frowned slightly - while some were heading in the right direction, others were wandering, or being led astray in the fog. This just wouldn't do! They had to make their way to the Shrine.

A gesture brought a multitude of small flickering lights to his side, where they awaited the simple instructions: Go. Bring them. Guide them to this place, out of the fog.

Without hesitation, they fled, scattering like a mini firework that would have been beautiful had there been anyone able to see it, soon vanishing. One hesitated, voicing a question.

Yes. Though they are nearly here, they need encouragement. Go. That one flickered, and drifted down, leaving the one who sent them to return inside to await their arrival.

^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~^~

Ok, it's time to start wrapping this up!

When the sparks find you, you can automatically 'warp' to the Shrine, the source of the light. This can happen at the end of anything you are currently doing, or can interrupt what you're doing. One spark will appear for each Character in the area (so if two of you are traveling together, both will see a spark). And yes, these are visible and audible to everyone around them, so don't worry about someone thinking you're talking to thin air haha! Also, for those who have come here WITH COMPANIONS FROM ANOTHER SITE, this is when you should, if you haven't already, begin converting them to Sundered species. If you have trouble, feel free to PM an admin, and they will try to help. I know we don't have all the creatures created yet, but hopefully we can come up with an acceptable solution.

But that's not all - I'm finally revealing what you get for participating in this Event.

When you arrive, the sparks that have accompanied you will have transformed into a shiny creature companion. Which kind you ask? Well, that's entirely up to you! You can decide the species and the rank, and nothing is off limits! That's right! Unicorns, gryphons, even DRAGONS are on the table, of any rank no matter how many stars they have! You can decide their personality, gender, and appearance (within proper rank guidelines, of course, barring admin permission for a Mutation). This is the chance to make your DREAM COMPANION, so have fun with it! And thank you for sticking with me through this crazy, somewhat up and down opening Event.
