Lost was surprised when a small light appeared in front of him and his companions. It was nothing like Mother's light, but at the same time he didn't believe the source of the light would harm them. Instead, it seemed to be...beckoning the three of them. He reached out to the little light, and as soon as he touched it, he along with his companions disappeared.

But where had they been transported to this time? The twilight faerie opened his eyes again upon feeling himself land gently upon solid ground. But where had the little light gone?

Lost glanced around, only to spot a beautiful Silver Mottle dragon standing not very far away from the three of them. "A-Are you the one who brought us here?" he asked, his voice hushed.

The Silver Mottle tilted his head, and almost seemed to smile before he nodded. "Thank you...but what about everyone else? Will they be all right? Kaya, Belial, Raferties, and Tidesweep are still out there..."

(Hope this is okay. I only picked gender and species, everything else is up to the admins.)

Knight of the Silver Stars -- Kierthaloth
Silver Mottle

Speech: Italics #3564BD

This silver dragon stands at the high end for his rank, if you cound the horns a couple of inches over the full forty feet tall. With scales that gleam like platinum, he carries a bit more of the scaled armor of his wild ancestors, with only his legs bare of the thick plates. This is a good thing, in truth, as he takes his role as Lost's protector very seriously. His twin horns rise straight and polished, perhaps showing somthing of his mixed blood as they are quite black, but not the black of any void for peering closely theree is a fine sprinkling of silver dots like stars within the depths. He otherwise is devoid of any extraneous markings, except for one: On his left shoulder is a smudge of pale blue, the kind of color that unless you are specifically looking for it you could miss, in the perfect shape of a butterfly. His eyes are a rich sapphire blue like the clearest sky.

Like all of his rank, this silver is very much a knight, and considers himself Lost's devoted defender. Nothing shall sway him away from his loyalty, nor prevent him from getting in the way of attackers, shielding the Twilight Fae with his own body should that be needed. Even death is not a deterrant to this cause. But that is not to say he is dour or humorless. Perhaps there is a bit of copper in him, for he loved stories and song, jokes and riddles and being around friends, making them feel safe and happy. A day of peace is a perfect day.

One minute, Shrayla was by herself, the next, she was surrounded by giant rats.

And someone else who seemed as food-motivated as Shrayla herself was about the rats. Except before Shrayla could make an introduction or even a proper snack of the rats...

There was a light. Strange floaty light.

And then she was again suddenly transported.

To a...temple?

She was officially confused. It didn't get less confusing when the light resolved itself into a dragon. At first, the sight of the dragon made the werewolf tense up, because dragons were typically bad news.

Except this one looked...odd. Like no dragon Shrayla had ever seen before, though the wide, wedge-shaped head was reminiscent of the copper dragons of Shrayla's home world. There was a broad swath of shiny metallic copper down the dragon's back, too, interrupting the continuity of a vastly forest-green body, mostly smooth, with only occasional patches of scales around the chest and hips.

It took you long enough to find me, the dragon spoke, voice resonating seemingly in Shrayla's own head. Then Shrayla felt something like a soul connecting to her soul, like no bond she'd felt since her beloved dire wolf companion had been with her. My name is Anaeth. I have been waiting for you.

Well.

Shrayla was still confused, but maybe now she wasn't alone.

Raferties, Keldos, and the Lorekeeper's shiny companions trekked through the fog, very close to the source of the light by this point. The archangel watched his younger brother with concern, as did they all: never before had they seen Raferties' wings draped so low on his back, so that the lowermost flight feathers actually dragged along the ground. One snagged on a stone, and pulled free, bursting into silvery dust that glimmered on the ground almost forlornly It was heartbreaking to Keldos to see his brother this way, but he knew that no action he could take nor words he could say would help matters any.

They just needed to find Belial and Kaya. Urgently.

Finally, the light was above them, with the group standing at the base of a mountain. A well-worn trail rose from just before their feet up into the heights that were still concealed by the mists, though it ran towards the glow. For a long, long moment, Raferties just stared up at it, eyes dull and face showing no emotion at all.

"Raferties - " Keldos stared to say, only to be cut off as a glowing mote of light, like a small star, floated down towards them and hovered. Instantly his hand was on his blade, though his brother watched is impassively, not stirring.

Do not be afraid, a voice spoke, seemingly in all of their minds though it was neither male nor female, young nor old. I am here to guide you. If you will allow, I will ease your path up the mountain to the Shrine.

"Shrine..." echoed Raferties slowly. "Is... is Belial there, or Kaya? Are they there?"

If they are not at this moment, then they will be soon, for others like I are seeking out all who wander in the fog. Now, will you come with me? Grabbing at even a chance to find his mate and daughter again, Raferties nodded without hesitation. The 'star' flared brightly, so that for a moment all they could see was its radiant light.

When their eyes cleared, they found themselves on a stone circular platform at the seeming back of a columned, open-air shrine. While the fog was thick back the way they had come, obscuring the valley utterly, and came up on this platform a ways, it cleared soon past the columns giving them a clear view of the pool and the torches lighting the chamber within, which seemed to be empty. Both angels and shinies, however, could tell that there was someone - something there. They could sense it.

A sudden start from Aurae managed to draw Raferties away from the awareness that no, Belial nor Kaya were here, to see that all of his companions had undergone some sort of transformation:

Girith was still blue all over, but now he sported shining silver plate-like scales across his chest, shoulders, forearms, and over his hips, giving him the appearance of wearing true armor. None of them had to touch these scales to know that they were hard as steel. And as he flared his wings in surprise, rippling streaks of silver were revealed, as if his wings had picked up the mottling pattern carried by his angel. Two straight, smooth horns of deep, deep sapphire rose from either side of his head like pikes, gleaming in the firelight. Girith is now a Blue Mottle!

Orthau was no longer a soft, glittery gray. Instead, she was as ebon black as starless night, with brilliant emerald eyes that were wide in surprise. She still bore the 'wings' and 'halo' of her old form, but now they stood out in brilliant relief against the black. For a brief moment black runes blazed along her throat, chest, and forepaws, though they quickly faded into invisibility. She staggered a bit, then with a growing sense of delight bounded in a circle, no longer carrying the jerky movements of her Zanjur days. Orthau is now an Illythiir Illaro (Mutation - Markings)

Pax's hooves clicked merrily on the stone as she pranced in place, much the same in appearance as she was, only she now no longer threw sparks from her hooves when she walked. Palest blue-gray like the stars and her mane and tail the soft yellow of the moon, a shining silver cross pattern now marked her back and shoulders. Her four wings, which started blue-gray and faded to a deeper shade at the edges, beat as she reared slightly, before settling with a shake of her mane, soft mint eyes warm and as ever unchanged. Pax is now a Wind Pegasus (Mutation - Multiple Wings)

Felix probably was the most shocking change of them all. Where before he was a lovely jade in color, now he was a rich purple-red, each color subtly blending from one to the other and back again. He maintained a feline-like shape, though now instead of fur he had smooth-looking skin that upon closer examination was actually rather coarse. His tail began cat-like, then ended in a tail fin much like a shark. Adding to the aquatic appearance, his paws were webbed, and a ridge ran down his back. Experimentally Felix snapped his jaws, finding a couple additional rows of teeth there. He maintained his horn, though a second had appeared, slightly smaller, beneath.

And Aurae, the first companion, the one most reflective of Raferties' heart. No longer did her colors shift with uncertainty of the obscurement of time. No, now she was primarily white in color, with her underbelly and the trailing edges of her wings a faded pale rose. The tops of her wings and down from the back of her head and neck all the way to the tip of her tail was an equally pale yellow like the first rays of the morning sun. And as ever upon her brow was the image of a rising sun shining in all it's glory!

What... has happened to us? asked Girith in wonderment, looking at one of his forelegs in amazement.

Look! Look! Orthau cried in delight, bounding around in a circle. I'm not jerking around anymore when I move! I'm graceful! Felix champed his teeth a couple of times experimentally, swishing his tail back and forth.

Mouth feels strange. But likes newness. He grinned at Raferties and Keldos, showing off his new pointy teeth. Teeths sharper than dragon's! Perhaps an exaggeration, but likely not by much! Aurae just trilled, nuzzling Raferties' cheek from where he rested upon her angel's shoulder, blue-green eyes reflecting a pleasure that was momentarily echoed by the Lorekeeper.

But Raferties soon lost his smile as he quickly glanced at the structure behind them, eyes scanning for Belial and Kaya only to be met with disappointment.

"I am certain they will be here soon," consoled Keldos. "We should wait for them."

"I... will wait out here," Raferties replied after a moment's hesitation, moving towards one of the outer columns and taking a seat facing into the fog, staff leaned up against the column behind him and drawing his harp into his lap. "We do not know what will happen when we enter there. I cannot risk missing either of them. I... I just cannot!" Keldos knelt beside his brother and patted his shoulder.

"Then we will wait."

They will come, said a new voice, and looking over the angelic brothers and their friends were greeted by the sight of a new creature, a unicorn that neither had seen before. Pelt near black with misty gray swirls across his body, horn flashing steel in the flickering torchlight from the shrine beyond them, he watched the group with wise eyes that showed compassion but also sorrow and a quiet dignity. Raferties felt a sensation not unlike the passing of a veil over his face slip through him, as the unicorn rested his horn on the Lorekeeper's shoulder in comfort. Others such as I have been dispersed to bring all who wander here. As if on cue, there was a flash of light, and Lost appeared with a silver dragon. Such as that. So be calm, and wait, my Bonded.

"I suppose that is all I can do, Sudárium," the angel murmured. Raferties picked up his harp and began to play softly, a melody that he didn't have to think about to create: his Soul Song, his best representation of his part in the Chorus. Though now Keldos realized there was a slight change: while one hand picked out the familiar melody, the other began playing a deeper, counter-harmony that wove and twisted around the first part in perfect rhythm. He wondered briefly if Belial had something to do with that, as Raferties, eyes closed, didn't seem to realize he was doing it. Felix bounded over towards Lost.

Lookits! He turned a quick circle, showing off his new appearance. Is different nows! Finds Goat-Man and Kaya? Even after all this time, Felix had never lost his nickname for Belial given courtesy of Sitka. Dids Goat Man has friends withs too? Clearly, becoming a Zaithandi didn't improve his syntax any, which made Orthau groan softly and put a paw over her muzzle in annoyance.

((Finally figured out what creature I wanted for Raf! Description impending.))

"Papa!" Kaya called again into the mists shrouding all but the hedge maze from view. Then she finally seemed to accept that Raferties was not to be found where they currently were, and stopped struggling against Belial's grip.

"We shall continue our search," he assured his daughter, "but not here."

Raferties was alive and well but nowhere nearby, or so Belial's bond to the angel told him. And, well, the tracking spell he'd inked onto his wrist. That was more informative than anything else, actually, giving Belial at least a direction in which to look. Towards the light, however cliche, was the direction he had to go. The trick would be in getting there through these damnable hedges.

He was an Archduke of the Seventh Circle. To be so defeated by hedges was insulting.

Suddenly, Kaya became very still. Belial followed her gaze up to another light, this one an orb bobbing along above their heads.

This way. The voice emanating from the orb resounded in Belial's head much the way his creature companions' did, except larger, deeper, more vast. Female? Female, or so Belial's best guess was.

The orb led him and his daughter through the hedge maze and up a mountain. Belial carried Kaya when she became too tired to walk. It was a small eternity before they reached the summit, and there, a temple, seemingly the source of the original light that Belial had been trying to follow when the hedges had made their impromptu appearance.

Finally, the orb shimmered and expanded, becoming a dragon. A very, very large dragon, with smooth crimson skin interrupted only periodically with armored scales in patches around her chest. She had fluted crests behind her jaw and a pair of golden horns atop her head. Her eyes whirled a serene blue-green, reminding Belial of Girith some.

You will find your mate and his companions here, the dragon informed them, dipping her head to sniff at Kaya. Gently, though, because otherwise she'd risk sucking the child up into a nostril. Other companions of yours have also made the journey with you. You will find them in time. My name is Kivalth. I have awaited your arrival since my hatching.

Belial reached a clawed hand up and met Kivalth's nose as if her head had been made to fit his hand. Perhaps it had?

"A pleasure to meet you, Kivalth," the archdevil murmured, scratching lightly over a nostril ridge.

Beyond Kivalth's substantial mass, Belial could see creatures that looked passing familiar -- who became more familiar when he reached with his subconscious mind and spirit. These were creatures bonded to him, there was Sitka, beloved Sitka, and Lindai, Talia, Jezza, and Seil. They wore different bodies, but they still felt the same.

And beyond them...

"Papa!" Kaya cried, tearing away from Belial to sprint at the angel, flinging herself at Raferties as soon as she got close enough.

Bemused, Belial followed at a more sedate pace. He was eager to reunite with his mate, but he wasn't going to interrupt Kaya's reunion.

At her first call, Raferties stopped dead in his playing, motionless, not certain if he'd actually heard her or was just wistfully imagining things. Then he heard the running steps, and his head snapped in the direction of the sound, eyes wide.

His heart stopped for a second, then raced with relief.

"Kaya! Belial!" Raferties scrambled to his feet, harp dropping from his hand and knocking his staff over in his hurried movemements to fall with a clatter, both utterly discarded as he rushed to meet the girl half-way, scooping her up into his arms and hugging her tight, nearly squeezing the breath from her lungs even as he kissed her cheeks and forehead repeatedly. He was still for a brief couple of seconds, feeling his Mark flaring anew, then moved towards Belial, one arm holding Kaya against him and the other pulling the devil close. At first contact, a spark - for lack of a better word - restoring the Mark Belial carried on his brow and snapped their soul bond back into place as well letting Belial know the full extent of Raferties' emotions, how much he had missed them and feared for them and was relieved to have found them again and most of all how much he loved them.

Keldos just chuckled, going over to pick up his brother's fallen staff and set it back upright and lean his harp up against the pillar, sincerely pleased. (had anyone ever told him before Planet that he would be relieved to see a devil, the archangel would have laughed) Now maybe his brother would start acting like his brother again.

Tidesweep
Shrine Attendant
[ * * * ]
That was the answer Tide expected to hear. Staying behind and dealing with everything this world could throw at them. Tide...Tide answer to her own question would be a lot more complicated. On the one hand, adventure and that was something most of her former companions would have pushed her onwards. On the other hand, being separated from her family. Her friends. The rest of her companions. Sure. Some of them were pain in the butts, but they were her pain in the butts at the end of the day.

Not sure what else to say, the Flarean just nodded slowly as the small group continued through the fog. Soon enough though, there was a light up ahead. A soft golden light that moved closer and closer. Blinking and rubbing her eyes, Tide stopped walking but the light kept moving towards them. "Please tell me I am not the only one seeing this?" After getting confirmation she wasn't crazy, Tide then voiced another question. "Should we follow the lights?"

After all, they might be safe. They might lead them off the edge of a cliff. Then again, the other option of wondering through the fog wasn't much better either. Taking a deep breath, Tide made the decision to follow the golden light wherever it lead. Thankfully, after walking with Anari, Ayiama, Charlie, Auriacio and Sinet for what felt like forever, they finally arrived. At a shrine.

Staring and blinking at it, she realized that at least she wasn't the only here from Planet. There were others. She couldn't quite make them out in time before she heard a cry from Sinet, Charlie and...Auriacio? The Flarean watched in amazement as all three shifted form and had to look at Ayiama to make sure she wasn't gonna shift too. What if they were disappearing? No! She couldn't lose them too. Just as she reached out for Charlie, he was the first done. A stone pendant on a chain dropped into her hand.

Not being able to control herself, she started to cry as she sunk to the floor and clutched the pendant in her hand. Sinet was the next to finish and she laid her new big head on top of Tide's, being careful of the horn. Good thing she had antlers before or she might have accidentally hurt Tide. Auriacio was the last and he blinked in surprise. I can...I can talk? That actually got Tide to look at him in amazement for a moment (that and his new form not to mention Sinet's) before a small voice spoke up from the pendant. Tide...I can't move...Am I okay? I feel okay? Tide...Why are you crying? Please don't cry!

Clutching Charlie tight, she nodded her head. "You are fine...Just smaller than normal. I will try not too." She looked up at Anari with a wan smile. "This was unexpected..." She had almost lost them. She thought she was gonna be alone in this strange new world. But she wasn't. She could see that now. There were others here. Anari was here and Tide liked to think she could count the former Lieutenant among her friends. She was as ready as she was ever gonna be for this world.

So let the adventures begin.

(Ooc note time~

Sinet is now a: Caradras Velve
Auriacio is now a: Hippocampus Reef (Starfish style or if that is unacceptable, just me know and I'll find a different one)
Ayiama stays the same
And finally, Charile Biscuit is stored into the crystal awaiting a better fit~

Anari was glad for the guide, and that they were moving more towards the light. Though to find a shrine there was definitely something that she hadn't expected.

Of that there would be... other people there. Wait, were those people? Two were... angels? Seriously? Another had horns like some sort of demon or monster or something, and between one of the angels and the horned one was a girl... with black feathered wings? Ok, that scene alone was enough to mystify her mind utterly! But there were other creatures, and people - that one looked like a child with wings talking to a... to a...

Anari's face paled, everything around her momentarily forgotten and insignificant. And there! another one, blue with silver scales on his chest!

A dragon!!

A shifting of scales from a larger, red creature who had just approached the blue made her stumble back a few steps. No, no, no - this was bad! This was very bad! She had been horribly wrong - she hadn't gotten away from the Highlords. There were three of them right there! She had to run, had to get away from them, right now!

Agily pivoting on one foot away from Tide, nearly tripping on the woman in the process, Anari nearly-stumbled away in her terror and haste, only to collide a scant two steps after with something large and... feathery? Furry?

Pulling herself out of the soft bulk, the former watch lieutant found herself face to... beak... with a large creature she only could identify from heraldic emblems as a gryphon. It - he, she got the feeling - stood just shy of seven feet tall at the shoulders, though he seemed so much larger than that with his bulk and the span of his shoulders and folded wings. His fur was a steely-blue, like polished armor. He bore a mane like a mantle of deep indigo, with a more royal blue colored patches on his shoulders and hips. Golden hair accented his face, chest, and tail, and his wings... his wings, which he spread as if knowing she was admiring them, were magnificent! They carried the gold color in bands, the middle section fading from gold to steel before the golden flight feathers took over. His beak was as black as night, and his eyes the most vibrant emeralds she'd ever seen, looking at her with conviction and compassion and loyalty.

Do not fear, Anari, he said, his voice powerful and commanding and at the same time filling the woman with a sense of... welcome. Home. Family. You are safe here. Those dragons are not the dragon Highlords of your old world, and even if they turn to harm you, I will protect you.

"Who... are you?" Anari murmured back, stunned by the sensation, by the fact that he was speaking in her mind, by it all, yet his presence definitely made her feel unafraid. It seemed the gryphons eyes sparked at her.

What would you name me? Anari paused for a moment, taken aback a bit by the counter, then the answer slipped from her lips as if without thought.

"Aegis." Instantly the gryphon shook his head, wings flaring for a moment before settling once again.

Then, my Bonded, I am Aegis. Anari didn't really understand what had just happened, or why she felt like she did, as if Aegis now knew her every thought and feeling, and she his, but after the exhausting walk, the fear, her injuries... it felt nice to just lean into his bulk and fur and relax, trusting in another for her protection for one of the rare time in her life.

"So... what happens now?"

Now... we wait. Be patient; when everyone has assembled who will make it here, things will be made clear.

By this point, Tide's companions had made their transformation, and Anari belatedly turned to realize that she had neglected her new friend a bit, right in the moment of her distress. But after listening to the tail of the conversation, as it were - was one of those glowing sweet deer in that pendant now? - it seemed things were alright again. Or at least as alright as they could be.

Turning, leaning back against Aegis' chest, the former lieutenant eyes up those who were gathered around. It seemed there was some sort of family reunion going on in one area, where the two... dragons... were at, and the other child hadn't seemed to notice their arrival either. Off where she hadn't immediately noticed her was another woman with... wolf ears and a tail?... talking to yet another dragon. Seriously, what was it with all the dragons? A bit nervously, ingrained thoughts and feelings fighting to rise to the surface, bidding her either fight or flee, her hand drifted to the handle of her flail and stroked over it, until a heavy paw stilled the movement.

I know you are worried, Aegis soothed, but I want you to look at the dragons, closely. Put aside your fear and distrust and simply look at them? Are they not different from the dragons you knew? Are they not shaped differently? Even the little one by the winged man is different, correct? Anari's eyes snapped over to where a white-ish little dragon was flying around the trio, trilling rather musically and cheerfully. It was about the same size as she one she killed, that put her on this path. In this world, there are dragons. Some are as wicked and dark as the ones you fled and fought against. Others, though, are kind and good, and work with the people to better both their lives. Maybe someday, you will Bond to one as you have Bonded to me. Anari's gaze snapped to his in disbelief.

"Not happening!" she hissed out in a whisper's volume. "I will never let myself get more than fifty feet from a dragon!" The shield gryphon just chuckled, laying down and urging his rather outspoken bonded to rest against him. He didn't argue the point any longer; she would just have to see for herself. And until she could trust dragons, or against anything that threatened her, he would be there.

((Bonded to the Shield Gryphon, Aegis! and Cord Count 1027, Who? what? - mystify))

Lost smiled gratefully at the Silver Mottle. "Thank you and your friends for bringing everyone here safely," he said softly. "Might I ask your name?" The large dragon chuckled softly and nuzzled the smaller twilight faerie. You may call me Kierthaloth. I have long awaited your arrival, my little Lost. You want to join our family, then? Sage inquired. Kierthaloth nodded. Indeed I do, if that is agreeable with all of you? The twilight faerie glanced at his two companions, and Orison nodded in agreement. I don't have a problem with it, the Scholar answered finally. The Silver Mottle dipped his head. Thank you.

The scene was gone. Marrok and the others sat nearby. Raeneth's uncle stood against a column, looking less than thrilled about the situation. A spark lingered, catching her silver eyes before she could ask what was happening. The spritz of light became a creature, a large and powerful canine, golden runes giving away her rank as Quessar.

The demon's uncle huffed and walked away before introductions could be made, but the Illar turned, releasing a wolfish chuckle. The guy had a burn streak up the back of his clothing from having to dodge fiery geysers. She looked again to his niece, and let out a soft breath. It would take time for things to be right.

Marrok leaned in to give his bonded a push. She needed to say something.

"Uh. I... Hello," she said in nearly a whisper, not prepared for speaking to a new creature, especially one like this.

You are tired and in need of rest. We will speak then.

Ziph, curious, threw out a question. Why are you so big?

The Quessar sighed again, muzzle forming a grin. She wasn't that big.

She could hear Raferties somewhere, but every sound that wasn't direct mindspeech blurred into a mess of noise. Her grief was far from healing, but this new bond would be there every step of the way. The demon climbed onto her back and held on. They had somewhere to go.

Legion’s first words upon standing were, “I’m blamin’ Brainstorm fer this.”

Brainstorm, you see, had risen to prominence as the Autobots’ preeminent ‘amoral inventor’ almost as soon as he’d come online. The mech was useless on the battlefield, but in the lab he was nearly without equal. His processor was like one of those six-dimensional mazes the Seekers of eld had been so enamored of, all sideways jags and tank-clenching drops. It spat out schematics and blueprints the way a composer’s churned out symphonies, each and every one a mute testament to the power of unbridled creativity. If you needed to melt a mech alive, or to rip holes in the very fabric of reality, Brainstorm was your mech.

...Provided, of course, you didn’t ask too many questions about precisely how your gadget was made. The general consensus among the Autobots had been ‘you really don’t want to know’. The less you knew about precisely what went into the construction of your whiz-banger, the fewer nightmares you’d have about the thing self-destructing in your hand.

So yes, sudden relocations to uncharted parts of the galaxy were exactly the sort of thing Brainstorm would think to weaponize. Now the question became one of reversal. Surely the mad scientist had come up with some sort of device to reverse the effects of the anomaly and drag those caught in it back!

...Right?

Evidently not. No matter how closely he listened Legion could discern no answer to his distress call. Static blared back at him, loud and grating and oddly unnerving. He was, he realized with a shiver, well and truly alone for the first time since leaving Earth.

The realization shocked him into movement. The big jet took one lumbering step, then another, pleased to feel the glacial chill of space receding from his frame. More thorough damage reports filtered in, detailing low energy levels and superficial damage to his outermost layer of plating. All survivable, he decided, though the sooner he could get out of this fog the happier he’d be. Every spacefarer was outfitted with something akin to solar panels for situations just as dire as this. Downside was the things only worked in broad daylight.

Then that shadow ghosted overhead, aggro-tech threw a great screaming fit, and one leg sank into something coarse and granular up to his knee.

None of those were the kind of things you wanted happening simultaneously, least of all when you were lightyears away from home.

If there was one thing to be said for Cybertronian economies of size, though, it was that they saved your aft in the strangest of places. Now was one such time. Legion had just enough time to reverse momentum and throw his considerable weight backwards before his other pede sank into the sucking murk. Between wings, torso and repulsor fields he was able to yank himself free before the lightning sand could swallow him whole. Alas, the effort left him huffing hot air and dismissing a whole new slew of error reports. Apparently wrenching one’s limbs about was less than kind on already-corroded joints.

A cursory inspection of the rest of the little ‘island’ he’d landed on just rubbed his nose in defeat. Apparently he’d managed to land on the only spit of solid land in sight. None too keen on risking another quicksand bath, he plopped on his aft and put his processor to the test.

Ten minutes later an outrageously-incongruous B-2 Spirit bomber inched out over the sea of lightning sand, hovering as no human jet should have been able to. It wasn’t a clean escape, nor was it a graceful one, but beggars couldn’t be choosers.

Besides, Brainstorm would get a kick out of hearing his anti-grav mods had worked after all.

“Oh, my aching...”

Telmaril’s complaints died aborning. A short time previous he’d been in the Brume of Ishgard’s Holy See, bundled up to wage war against a winter storm the likes of which the city had rarely seen. It had been night, of the ‘dark and stormy’ variety, save with sideways snow in place of sleeting rain. He’d been alone, or as alone as one could be in a city as densely populated as Ishgard. Surely there had been street rats and gutter-dwellers watching, waiting, wondering whether it was worth their while to risk the howling wind for a chance at a fat purse.

And now all of that was simply gone, replaced by opaque mist and echoing emptiness and a headache that threatened to make his eyes cross.

Tel was no stranger to unpleasant visions, but this one ranked a solid seven on the ‘do-not-want’ometer.

At least the Ascians hadn’t put in an appearance yet.

Groaning, the Au Ra hauled himself into something resembling a sitting position. (Easier said than done whilst armored, but he’d had practice enough to master the movement.) A quick once-over turned up a truly glorious goose egg above his left temple. Its position wasn’t consistent with an attack, nor was its unusually large size, or the complete dearth of other injuries. His coinpurse was still where it belonged, along with the various and sundry other valuables spirited away in the nooks and crannies of his armor. No, he hadn’t been robbed, no matter how sketchy the Brume was after dark.

So what in the name of the Twelve had happened?

Mild concussion or no, Tel managed to get his legs under him and wobble upright. Unfortunately his new vantage point gave him no new insight. The world around him was still shrouded by a veil of grey mist so thick even his keen vision was useless against it. He was alone, at least, and that meant he had time to collect his scattered possessions in relative peace- and oh, they were far more scattered than he would’ve liked! His armor was untouched save for some scrapes that suggested a recent fall- which also explained the welt on his head- but what seemed like half of his worldly possessions lay at his feet in a heap. There was the staff he used as a spell focus, and the greatsword Fray had gifted to him, and soul crystals and chocobo feathers and what he suspected was a feather duster-

End result, Tel spent ten minutes grubbing about in the dirt and wrestling with miscellany before he moved out.

Whatever this mist was, it had to have an end, and by hook or by crook he’d find it.

Legion
The big spirit bomber wouldn't be flying alone for long, as shortly after he'd begun his flight he was approached by a small floating spark of light, barely bigger than a human's fist. It floated beside his right wing, bobbing slightly and giving an impression of wanting the Autobot to follow... perhaps it was a guide? In any event, it darted towards a glow high in the distance.

Telmaril
Telmaril would walk for about twenty minutes, finding fog, fog, and yet more fog, and occasionally a puddle for his trouble, before something would find him: a glowing mote of light scarcely bigger than his eye. It came into view zipping and zagging left and right, as if frantically searching for something, before it appeared to notice him and flew over, circling him a few times and then finally slowing down to hover in front of him. Although it didn't speak, the little thing drifted off in one direction, then came back, as if beckoning the Au Ra to follow. But would he?

((Just a little 11-th hour update for you! The final post will be put up on Tuesday. I apologize for how long this has dragged out - I never intended for it to go this long, but situations being what they were...))

Legion
Brainstorm’s mods might have worked- indeed worked quite well, given this was their maiden voyage- but ‘operational’ and ‘efficient’ were not the same thing. By the time Legion cleared the patch of lightning sand his HUD was alive with temperature warnings. His systems were designed for the slow burn of distance work, not this ‘burn your whole tank’s worth of energon in five minutes’ Pitslag. Small wonder his internals felt aflame. They were working at damn near redline, and had been for a solid five minutes.

He was about ready to give up the ghost and resign himself to a sticky, sinking fate when passive radar scans flashed yet another warning across his HUD. The composition of the ground inches beneath his wings had changed. With any luck it could hold his weight now. Either way, Legion was too worn out to care. The big jet reversed transformation and landed with a distinct thud. Sure enough the ground held up admirably under his weight.

...And then a pinpoint of light appeared next to his wingtip, utterly invisible in any spectrum but the visible one. That alone would’ve been enough to make him nervous. The fact that the thing moved- in fact streaked off, apparently hoping the Autobot would follow in its wake.

Legion’s immediate response was to turn around and fly the other way. Nothing good ever came of following mysterious lights into the unknown. Today, however, was already full of truly terrible decisions. What was one more in the grand scheme of things?

The moment his cooling systems kicked in Legion threw himself skyward in pursuit of that fast-vanishing ball of light.

Telmaril
Alas, Telmaril did not possess the aerial capabilities of a certain oversized jet. He was left to slog through the fog on foot, and what a drag that turned out to be. Mist, after all, tends to form in damp climates. Such was the case now. The nondescript soil underfoot was just damp enough to stick to his sabatons in the most persistent of fashions. First clods stuck to the arch between footpad and heel, then to the spurs his friends in Ishgard had insisted he wear, and the damn goo just kept going. Bit by bit it conquered his ankles, lay siege to his calves and clawed its way higher still.

End result? One very tired Au Ra slogging through the murk dragging a knee-high coating of mud.

It was not one of his prouder moments.

Tel had very nearly decided to throw in the towel and park it for the night when a flicker of light caught his eye. If not for the mud (and consequently unstable footing) that flash alone would’ve been enough to make him reach for the pommel of his sword. Given the uncertain surroundings, though, he opted to leave his weapon where it was. Instead he shifted, presenting the smallest possible target to this new ‘attacker’.

Only after he’d done so did he realize that that light was just that- a light. Y’know, innocuous, nonviolent, highly unlikely to cause him harm? All that good stuff. If anything the little thing’s bobbing and weaving was kind of inviting. Cute, too, once he got over the initial surprise of its arrival.

More importantly, though, the thing seemed to be beckoning him onward, and even a certain stubborn Au Ra wasn’t stupid enough to ignore an invitation so blatant. Sighing, Tel kicked the latest aggregation of mud off his armor and splashed after the retreating wisp.

Wherever the thing was going, it had to be better than this purgatory of a marsh.

Legion and Telmaril
The wisps that led the final beleagured pair through the mist and fog and swamp may have taken separate routes, one in the air and one along the ground, but they seemed to know a safe path as no troubles accosted either of them on their trek. They would both be the last to arrive, it seemed, as soon after their arrival at the Shrine, a new being would make its presence known...

Everyone

As things settled, new and old friends found and any injuries seen to, those who were more astute would become aware of a presence, a sensation, that seemed to be watching.

Everyone would become aware of it when it spoke...

Greetings, weary travelers. The voice was faintly masculine in nature, though with feminine undertones as if it was truly neither, and seemed to come from somewhere within the shrine. I am known as Aeon. You all have been brought here for a myriad of reasons, some of which you know, some of which you may have guessed at, but for all of you this world is new and strange even for familiarities that it may possess. I can only hope that despite your rather... rough entrance, you might find comfort and a home here. The invisible speaker's gaze seemed to run over them all. I sense there are those here who fear for companions that seem to be lost. Fear not for them. They can return to you. Those who appeared with you were simply those that made the transition the smoothest, while the rest are still being brought. All are safe and sound, I vow. For all the Illogical Field has its... quirks, I do have more than a little power. The voice chuckled. But what would be expected from the Guardian of the Veiled Shrine? Across the shrine, the fog suddenly parted, revealing warm sunlight. There is a path that will take you down out of the mountains, and close to Haven Weyr and its village. There you can find shelter and a means to start your new life here for as long as you are with us. And, should you need help, you can find A'lan, Rider of Bronze Ydreth. He is my voice and champion amongst the Weyr, and will be helpful. And if you ever feel the call of a companion seeking you, please return here and speak with me. With that, the voice and presence seemed to fade, leaving the new Heroes of Sundered Weyr to step into their new life.

((Omg, I can't believe how long this ran! I never intended it to do such, but things happened off site and people couldn't post, and I just wanted to let everyone in to have fun. Be assured, the next event will do smoother than this did lol! But I had a lot of fun, and I hope you did too! And though it's a bit belated, Welcome to Sundered Weyr!

As a side note, I will continue to leave this up for another couple of days, just to let any last-minute posting getting done. I will officially Archive this on Friday. If by then you still need to claim your Custom Shiny Companion, please PM me (teragaia) or one of the admins to let them know what you are claiming. Again, this only counts to those who joined within the first month of Sundered Weyr's existence and participated in the Opening Event, even if it's just a couple of posts.))
