Sometimes the Illogical Field made its interference known in loud or dramatically announced ways. This wasn't one of those times. This was far quieter, a gentle awakening into a world that really wasn't Teragaia, in bodies that were not completely like they had been before.
All bodies were of uniform heights depending on age category. Facial features had softened, becoming rounder and less specifically defined. Extraneous body parts, such as wings, tails, horns, or the like had disappeared as if they never existed. Any special abilities, also, would have... changed.
Each Teragaian would awaken in a bed they had not gone to sleep on the night before, looking around at the blank walls of an unfamiliar house, some painted nondescript bland colors, others covered in generic wallpapers.
A look out the windows or an exploration of the town would reveal a somewhat dreary little town. Even in a theoretical summer, the sky was overcast, the weather windy and a little cold, and sudden rainstorms were fairly common. People went on about their nonsensical little lives barely aware of one another, and a few new residents with the wide-eyed look of confusion went more or less unnoticed.
All in all, the town was a modest little suburban area, rife with low hills and expanses of lush grass. But there was a pall over it, almost an ambient instinct, that maybe there was more than met the eye at first glance to the sleepy little village.
The billboard by the road into the town said only one intelligible thing that any of the newcomers would be able to read:
WELCOME TO MOONLIGHT FALLS
_____
Anyone here play The Sims 3?
If not, you might want to do some reading up, because that's what we're playing now! Several expansion packs will be referenced, but the most important one is Supernatural, from which comes the town of Moonlight Falls and all of the associated supernatural sub-types that your Sims -- er, characters -- will have become.
Unless you want to become a Genie, which is from the Showtime EP.
Your characters can become a human Sim, with no superpowers (but some unique opportunities and risks), a Werewolf Sim, a Vampire Sim, a Witch Sim, or a Fairy Sim (or a Genie Sim). Each subtype and paranormal state has its own perks, drawbacks, and unique style of play, as well as special abilities. You can translate your character on your own or you can message me for tips, tricks, or even randomization if you want the translation done for you via Illogical Field shenanigans.
What's the plot of this adventure, you ask? Well, that's a little harder to answer. The short answer is that you need to survive in Moonlight Falls until you can get back to Teragaia. The longer answer involves setting individual goals. This is Sims-based. Do you want to become an alchemist? A star news anchor? A pro athlete? Do you just want to get home?
That's all up to you. Get yourself settled in, I've dropped each of you into a nondescript starter house, and tell me how your character copes with the move and the transformation. Tell me what your character/Sim will be doing. And I will throw challenges and opportunities at you as we go along. Bear in mind, some of this will get very, very weird. It's Sims, after all. XD
EDIT: Creature companions! They won't be able to translate well into Sims mechanics, necessarily, but you can have up to two with you. Your bonded companions, regardless of original species, will be either cats, dogs, or horses, each with their own perks and drawbacks. Mindspeech is suspended for the duration of their stay in Moonlight Falls, but they can, as everything else, communicate in thought bubbles with random pictures.
Cats will have the ability to fish. Dogs can dig around town to find things for you. Horses can compete in jumping and racing competitions at the equestrian center. All will need to be fed to keep them happy and healthy.

Gray roused himself from his slumber, only to discover that things had...well, changed. His house didn't really look like his house, for one thing, considering there were blackout curtains concealing the windows. "What on Teragaia is going on...?" he muttered to himself, as he looked around for his companions.
He couldn't see any of them, but he did seem to be in possession of a cat, and presumably a horse, if anything could be taken from the neighing coming from outside. Deciding to see what all of the commotion was about, he picked up an umbrella that was resting near the door and stepped outside. Surprisingly, the cat followed him outside as well, sticking close to his leg and looking about warily.
It was odd behavior for a cat, but Gray shrugged it off and approached the noisy horse, which he now saw was remarkably similar in appearance to Osiris, with dark sapphire eyes and a gray swirl upon his shoulder. "Osiris...?"
The horse seemed to be almost relieved, but instead of saying anything, a thought bubble appeared above his head that depicted a green circle. Gray could only guess that it meant he was right. Gray then glanced down at the cat attached to his leg, and frowned in thought. "You must be Ecthelion, then." The cat mewed unhappily, but nodded nevertheless. It seemed that neither of them were quite happy with their new forms.
Gray let out a sigh. He could guess that the Illogical Field had something to do with this... "Looks like we have to figure out a way to get home to the others." He couldn't help but wonder if anyone had been sucked into this odd world alongside him.
At least if Raferties were here, he would have someone else he could rely on in this strange place.
(I looked back at Sims 3, and apparently Sims can have up to five character traits. So Gray's beginning traits are Unstable, Athletic, Unflirty, and Family-Oriented.)

Falling asleep in one setting or situation and awakening in another was something of a commonplace event on Teragaia, or anywhere that anything even remotely like the Illogical Field functioned. Raferties had awakened shackled to a strange woman once, for example, and had even once 'awakened' in a dream to find a palatial hall of cats.
Nope, with the IF in play, anything was possible, and even likely, to happen to the residence when they were sleeping.
Such as what happened to cause Raferties to find himself in a completely foreign building when he opened his eyes one morn.
The Lorekeeper blinked twice in some surprise, the instantly reached out for his companions and Belial, ascertaining that they were safe. While the connection was somewhat muffled, so that he got no actual response, the sensations were present and strong, so he knew that they were alright.
So reassured, the angel slowly sat up... and nearly overbalanced as he moved with more force than he intended, the sheets tangling around him to trip him up and send him sprawling to the ground! He groaned, twisting to look over his shoulder for the source of the trouble... or, he realized, the lack thereof.
"My - My wings!" They were gone! So used to moving with their weight, the not-angel-anymore had put too much oomph into it and thus was his face and chest down on the hardwood floor, with his legs on the bed above him. Thankfully for what ego he had, it seemed Keldos was no where nearby, if he was even in this place at all.
Twisting around he managed to bring his legs down to were the rest of him was, uncoiled the blankets from around his thighs, and stood up to look around. The room was rather barren, with just a bed and a few other bits of furniture, and the walls were painted a bland color that was so dull he didn't think it even warranted a name. There was a window, which he approached to look out of, hoping for something that might give a clue to where he was.
Well, he got it, in a way: from his vantage point he could see a sign that read in large letters: WELCOME TO MOONLIGHT FALLS.
"I do not recall that name from any of my travels on Teragaia," he murmured to himself, though in truth he was not much surprised by this. Just another day under the whim of the Illogical Fiend.
For a moment he paused in thought, wondering what the IF was intending this day to try and perplex him, whether there were any others from Haven Weyr in this same town with him, and where his mate, daughter, and creature companions might be if they were not here. Perhaps safely back in Haven, he presumed after musing it over a bit. Well then, he would try to make the best of this until he could find a way back to them.
Deciding the best way to go about that was to at the very least get out of these pajamas, he went to the bedroom closet and upon opening it saw some of the strangest-looking articles of clothes he had ever seen before. While he had seen short-tailed tunics before, and short-sleeved ones, he had not encountered some that were both before. And the pants... what a strange blue material. Experimentally he took it in both hands and pulled, seeing how easily he could tear or stretch it, the answer to which was not at all. Far more durable than cotton, that was for certain! A part of him was very curious how it was made, but he shook off his questions for the moment, and found the bathroom.
Well, at least he knew from experiences on Planet what a shower was! Otherwise he might have spent an hour messing around with the knobs and tap and shower head before figuring out the proper sequence to get nice hot water, rather than just a few minutes. A shower, drying, and dressing later, Raferties stood before a mirror and finally got a good look at himself.
He still had his sea-green eyes, though he thought the green was a bit more pre dominant now than it had been before. His skin was rather fair also, as it had been, but his hair, while just as black, was cut short rather than falling to near his waist. He ran a hand through the feathery locks, noting how it nearly fell into place on its own.
"Well that is... a change." Much to his relief, somehow he still had the Wing Spine Talisman Belial had made for him so long ago. That much familiarity he was certain would be a comfort at some point.
Finally he stepped from the bedroom to find this dwelling he was currently inhabiting was rather spacious, with the main room being the next one he found containing a couch and very plush chair, though oddly he saw that they were damaged. There were claw marks on them both, as if from some sort of animal. Oddly, seeing the marks didn't make him feel confused or annoyed, rather it made him smile and he found a chuckle nearly breaking free. Then he shook his head at this odd impulse and continued to explore, finding kitchen, some sort of library (well, that was kind of the IF!), and a room with a large table on it covered in green felt, with heavy solid and striped balls to one side, along with narrow sticks, all of which confused him even more. The last thing he explored for the moment was the back yard, which sported a nice lawn and garden, and a patio with a telescope already pointed at the sky. It would be a nice place to watch the stars.
Finally Raferties returned inside, for the moment ignoring the odd black panel on the wall across from the couch, and took a seat, one elbow coming to rest on his knee and his fist propping up his head.
"Well, thus far I have only ascertained that I am in this new town, Moonlight Falls, seemingly alone at least for now. Certainly Aurae, Girith, nor any of the others are anywhere present, nor is Belial or Kaya. I think I am glad for that. But the question is, what, if anything, must I do to get home, and what dangers might threaten me here." His eyes, looking randomly around, settled on a wall hanging beside the black panel. It was of a nighttime scene overlooking a river with a tree alongside. He found his gaze transfixed by the full moon, as if hypnotized for several moments, before he shook his head firmly to dislodge the sensation. In the process, one hand slipped down between the couch cushions, where he found some sort of rectangular box covered in buttons. "What... is this?" Curiously, he looked it over, then pressed a few buttons at random.
Nothing happened.
He pressed a few more.
Nothing happened.
Then he pressed one that was red with a circle and a vertical line on it.
Abruptly the black panel ceased to be black anymore, exploding with color and noise that sounded somewhat like music, but like no music the angel had ever heard before. Raferties screamed in shock, jerking clean over the back of the couch and rapidly pressing buttons until the sound lowered, then the thing turned off. He sat back there panting hard for a long while, trying to still his racing heart and pull his lips back down from the rather animalistic snarl they were in.
This was going to be a looooong day.

It had already been an hour of Cassandra sitting in careful contemplation on the floor, the curtains of this odd building thrown back to create a makeshift frame for the sign displaying the words, 'Moonlight Falls'. Clothing was scattered around her, the bed was disheveled, and the door to the bathroom was still open a crack where you could see a couple fragments of broken glass. Across from her and peeking out from under the bed was a small dog that stared with a plastered expression of dumb dog. She had briefly thought that it was Elsharaz, but from careful thought and testing... either he was playing her a fool or he wasn't here and this was just some random other person's pet. That followed her. Every. Where.
She had come to a couple of conclusions about this new place: She had no magic. She didn't like that. The house was ugly, empty, and the couple of objects that did decorate the interior were confusing and one of them was already broken.. it sounded like a music box on the wall, yet it was obnoxious, loud, repetitive, and she had to make it stop ringing somehow. She was alone and wearing another person's clothing. Ugly... thick... tight clothing. This was the Illogical Field's fault. She bet her life on it.
Cassandra groaned and slowly stood up, finally shaking off the annoyance of this change of scenery and counted to one hundred. By the final number, opening her eyes revealed a new light to the situation. She wasn't a Djinn. No more bad wishes. She could blend in, do what she wanted... what did she want?
A smile slowly pressed across her lips and she snatched up some of the clothing, tossing it into multiple piles until she found the appropriate articles that she remembered from earlier and instantly ripped a tear up the length of the skirt before pulling it on. Not 100% amazing, but it would do until she found something more suiting to her taste. Dressing, a pleasant demeanor in her step, non-Djinn merrily slipped out of the bedroom to hunt for another mirror... since her bedroom one was broken... and manually made herself look ready. Another matter she would have to get used to, but that was the fun of this, wasn't it?
Whatever happened to make her come here, her appearance was odd. She didn't recognize any of the features, really, but she guessed that she had been given this image because she didn't really have a core visage. She had skin that was a bit on the pale end and dark eyes to contrast her mid-back length pale blonde hair. Simply earrings dotted her ears instead of her more extravagant ones that normally traced up the length... then again, her ears felt odd in general for losing their points. All the rest of her jewelry was gone and she couldn't find any of it anywhere in the house. I had better find it all when I get home...
The dog continued to follow her, a matter that would normally be unnerving, but at least Elsharaz had gotten her used to that type of thing. Granted, she was still off-put by her Hellhound being no where to be found, but she was assured that she would find him eventually and make her way inevitably back to Terragaia.
The rest of the house was as bland as the bedroom, but that could be fixed. Now wasn't the time for that. No, she wanted to go outside. Slipping out the front door, she was a little disappointed to see that all the houses seemed to look identical, the lawns all similar, and everything was quite monotonous. Boring. Ugh.
"I need to make this place... better." The smile that crept up from earlier grew more so and she found herself almost laughing. Not manically laughing, just the kind of a free Djinn that's not quite a Djinn anymore. The kind of a woman realizing that she can do anything she wants. Well, relatively.
Cassandra dropped to a knee and picked a flower from her neighbor's lawn and headed back inside to explore the rest of the house, leaving the door open as she went - the house was much too stuffy. She wanted to find out exactly what the point of this odd shifting of reality was and the only means she could think immediately of doing such a thing was by pulling apart everything she could find and learning from experience. She was never going to survive here if she didn't know what the point of it all was, right? After that, maybe she would explore outside the not-so-grandiose building.

"Gah! Accursed Light!" Hren quickly rolled to press himself against his blankets and pillows and the nearby wall.
"Did my blindfold come off again in my sleep?" He quickly felt around for his band, only to find a thick bedding, fluffy sheets, thick comforters and blankets, soft, velvety pillows, a wall nearby made of... what -was- that material, canvas? He had no choice... he had to open his eyes.
Strangely, no pain flowed through his mind. No daggers of merciless sensation wracked his brain from within. Instead, he saw... reality? It sure didn't look like reality, or at least the one he painted in his head on a daily basis. Regardless, it was time to figure out what was going on, and he was in no way going to let the unfamiliarity take hold of him any longer than necessary.
Looking about the bedroom, he sought familiar-looking objects to relate to; a wooden dresser, a night stand with a strange oil-less lamp atop it, and a standing mirror. Excellent, a mirror! He always wanted to know what his eyes looked like. ~How ordinary.~ Hren thought to himself at the typical greenish coloration they had now taken, not knowing the world's transition had translated him into someone not really himself. ~And am I always this pale? I get far too much sunlight for this... where am I? Is this yet another wish gone wrong? I don't -remember- wishing anything stupidly and without thought...~
Onward from the mirror, he found the restroom and stared in marvel at yet another mirror. ~People of this world are most certainly vain, aren't they?~ Then he fiddled with levers, slinging ice-cold water everywhere and flushing the toilet enough times to spike the water meter. The shower left him soaking wet, so it was back to the bedroom for some clothing that didn't leave a majority of his body exposed.
~To be so vain, they have some really, really awful clothing choices.~ He donned some dark-colored pants and a dark-colored shirt with some strange lettering on the front. Of course, being blind for... ever, he had no idea what anything said. It all looked like squiggles; more pictures than writing. More exploration to be done!
The kitchen provided ample entertainment, as a short hour later, almost all the food in the refrigerator lay out upon the counter, touched, tasted, smelled, and toss into the rubbish. The only thing that really seemed to taste remotely decent was yogurt. He really was fond of the yogurt.
Next was the living room and the illusion box. ~How interesting. Someone wasted magic making constant illusions appear on this black screen, talk about absolutely nothing, or sell something.~ That didn't even take 15 minutes for boredom to set in.
Then he found the workout room, something he could really get behind, until he discovered apparently the magic had made him a weakling as well. Yes, the day was odd, but he couldn't really allow himself to remain in this world and seek a way home, without being somewhat able to actually perform to his usual degree. So he worked out. For a long while.
Now was the time to get doused in water, he decided. The shower would provide ample access to water, and he found a way to make it warm; much better than river bathing. And it had a handy-dandy separation device that would allow him to keep the water contained - this time.
Now, he decided, was time to head outside and discover more things with his new-found pain-free vision. Down the sidewalk he strolled until he came to more sidewalk, going both directions. At first, he took several long moments to gaze at the grass and flowers, and the monotony of houses down the street. Then, he ventured out to the edge of the walk and watched these strange metallic contraptions go by. Curious, he ventured closer.
As a vehicle drove by at a nice, gentle speed, Hren made his way onto the bizarre pavement to get a better look at the strange carriages after noticing people inside of them, and walked right into the middle of several cars going past. Of course, seeing someone just walk into traffic cause a driver to swerve to avoid hitting Hren, and many drivers did the same, and it was all one big chaotic, and interesting event. Though when the people started making strange gestures at him laced with what he could only assume were obscenities, he went back inside.
"This is going to take some getting used to..."
He quickly figured out the locks on his doors and went back to the workout room to make that feeble little lump of a body fit again.
