She didn't really remember slipping into unconsciousness. Why or even how. Nothing had hit her in the head and she hadn't drowned.
She was quick to respond, though, once sense started to come back to her. Smell first, wet stone, water, something slimy. Then sound, voices and splashing and...
Tentacles. There were tentacles everywhere.
Shrayla twisted away from her bow and started tearing off her clothing.
Getting naked might have seemed an irrational response to the entire situation, except that once she was fully nude...she suddenly wasn't, really.
She wasn't even Shrayla anymore, actually, but a warping, twisting mess of flesh and fur and muscle.
Ultimately it was a beast that stood where Shrayla had been, ugly and malformed. It walked on two legs, though its arms were long enough for it to hobble along on four. The wolf-like muzzle was misshapen, the upper mandible extending far beyond the lower one, creating a nasty overbite. It had no ears, it had no tail, but it had claws like viciously curved razors.
Howling and snarling incoherently, the beast leaped at the tentacled beast and sunk into it with all four sets of claws, kicking out to wound deeper and cause as much pain and damage as possible.

Meanwhile, Larandaithiel was not as unconscious as he was perhaps believed to be, but trying to re-learn how to breathe after that idiot werewolf's thighs had all but crushed his ribcage into broken fragments of bone.
All of his ribs were cracked. Thankfully, none of them were actually broken, or he would owe Shrayla a lot more pain than he already did.
The elven healer got to his feet with a snarl of his own as Shrayla was transforming. He lurched upright, still off-balanced by his crippled shoulder. That would need help. Later, in a controlled environment.
This was a battlefield.
First things first, though. Larandaithiel lunged at Keldos, gripping the broken wing with his good hand and yanking it back into alignment. Not gently, it would likely be more painful than the initial break had been, but there were things to be done and Larandaithiel did not have TIME to be tender in his touch.
No, he had no time at all. The idiots -- he had no frame of reference for most of their names and certainly not enough reverence to care right this moment -- were busy attacking the tentacled beast. Kraken? Some not far-flung relative?
No, best way to attack a beast like this was to go straight for the source.
Larandaithiel stumbled to his knees by the water's edge, electricity crackling around the fingers of his good hand. It was a spell he usually reserved for shocking stopped hearts into beating again. Except bigger.
"CLEAR!" he bellowed, peripherally aware that Ashyana was in contact with the beast and likely to get shocked if she didn't move.
He'd fix that if she got hurt.
He stuck the lightning in the water and watched the water carry the lightning to the kraken.

Anari smiled at Naya as they walked together towards the stairs.
"Yes, I'm just a human, and I can't cast magic at all. What happened with my flail..." She looked at the weapon at her side, or more specifically where she knew the invisible rune rested between the spikes on the heavy ball. "To be honest, I don't really know what happened there. I just somehow... knew... to do it." Not knowing what more to say to that, she shrugged. "There's a lot I'm still learning about this thing, I suppose. Oh!" Anari had looked ahead and realized she recognized someone on the stairs. "Hey, I know one of those two, I think. Raferties, the one with the wings."
As Anari and Naya approached the stairs and began their ascent, they would get a glimpse at the soul-deep connection between Raferties and Belial in action, as the pair looked over the runes on the wall, touching various marks and seeming to confer on lines and groupings without ever speaking a word to one another. Just when the lieutenant and assassin reached them, the devil leaned back and crossed his arms.
"Well, that definitely sounds bad for us," he said to the angel, who nodded, expression concerned.
"I suppose the Keepers of Life are the ghost-like entities that we saw..." Just then they realized they had company, and turned to see the newcomers. "Anari, I did not know you were here."
"I came when I saw the Egg, and the ground shook. I -" Here Anari paused, as if for a moment surprised by what she had been intending to say, then said it. " - I'm junior weyrwoman. It's my place to protect my home." Raferties smiled at the comment, but didn't comment on it.
"It would seem from these runes," Belial spoke up, as he had still been examining them for any further information, "that something within the Egg poses a threat, and these runes are a warning." He read off the words as they had translated them, then looked up the stairs. "We must deal with this, Raferties." The angel nodded, then suddenly looked at the women who had joined them.
"While I am not sure exactly what is meant by 'crest awakening' I can well surmise what it means by fire and light, steel and claw. will the two of you help?" Anari nodded without hesitation, though it was of course up to Naya if she was willing to follow. As the pair of males led the way up the stairs, Raferties murmured softly a prayer to his patron, against the odds that Solaris could actually hear him.
"Grant our weapons be the ones in need at this moment, that our aim does not fail nor our strength wane until after the battle is over. Fill our hearts with courage, lord of the sun." He took a deep breath, steadying himself. "May your fire burn in our hearts..." He looked at Belial, who just gave the angel that half-grin he wore so often around his lover, and that also drew a smile from the Lorekeeper in return. " - and may our stand against the evil set before us be stronger than its will to destroy."
Then they crested the rise and the Firstborn Guardian snapped his staff into both hands, calling up both his Radiance and his holy flame. He wasn't precisely sure which of his attacks would be needed, but it couldn't hurt to throw everything he had at the Egg when the time was right. Belial, perhaps to the shock of the others though not so much to Raferties who had seen this before, transformed into a smaller variant of his True Form, a monstrous demonic entity of hooved feet and black horns, crimson skin and wicked claws. Thankfully, whereas Belial had once told Raferties he was in truth about seventy-five feet tall naturally, he only stood about twenty or so feet tall right now, claws licked with hellflame.
Although between the two of them they seemed to have the four components of the warning well in hand, Anari stepped up to the angel's other side, setting her flail whirling and with a bit of will igniting it into flames of its own.
"Well, I will say this: no matter what happens here -" The former lieutenant grinned at them fiercely. "If we don't make it alive, it's a hell of a good day to die." Aegis at her side screeched.
It is not your day yet, Anari! he encouraged. This - thing - shall not win the day! From above both Girith and Kivalth roared, circling and preparing to fall upon the Egg at a single thought from their Riders.
So the four stood there, and readied for the moment to strike as the Egg began to shake!

Both people came awake and Tide let out a sigh in relief. They could use all the help they could get at this point in time. Watching the battle, Tide wanted to help. She wanted to do something, but couldn't exactly fight. Looking towards the door and avoiding tentacles, she figured that would be her best bet. The arms of the creature could only extend so far so maybe...If they could get beyond that door.
Avoiding the tentacles proved a feat of itself so she quickly lost track of the battle as she approached the door that had opened and where the ghosts were beckoning. Looking at it, she took a deep breath and stepped into the light. Just to make sure there wasn't something even worse behind this one that the light was hiding. If the coast was clear, she would go back and tell the others. Running away wasn't a cowardly thing to do after all. Especially if you were outnumbered by things that were a lot more flexible than you. A lot more flexible.

Being a warrior, Keldos was used to sensing the battlefield around him, even when he couldn't see in a specific direction such as behind him. In this case since he knew at a glance that only allies lay behind he needn't worry about the sounds or sixth sense of movement approaching him, other than to note that it seemed that the pair who were previously unconscious had awakened. Good.
Perhaps in this case, it was much less a point of 'worry' and more a point of 'bracing.'
He felt the sudden grip on his broken wing - painful - then the wing was straightened out - more painful. He didn't (thankfully) have even a moment to prepare or tense as Larandaithiel forcefully set the bone, driving a shout that was half-sharp, near agony pain, half-archangel in full battle rage from the winged warrior. But Keldos was pragmatic enough and more than experienced enough to both be grateful for the treatment and not fuss over a little roughness. The bone quickly set, and now it could heal properly. That was enough.
Or so he thought, until the Weyrhealer rushed past and sent a powerful bolt of electricity into the water just as Ashyana threw herself free of the suddenly writhing beast - and a misshapen blue of fur and muscle hurled itself at the beast. Ouch.
The monstrosity that sought to end them all screeched fit to shatter stone and twisted about, then he spied the glowing spot on its back, a flap propped up by what looked like a long shard or spear of ice and after the warrior elf's blow gushing what he presumed to be the creature's blood. Eyes blazing white, the Archangel Firstborn swore softly to himself: his wings were far too sodden, even with his great strength to move them, to either carry him aloft or even assist in a glide to reach the place. He had a few more projectile attacks, but they were more for groupings of enemies that came upon him, not for long-range strikes like his brother's holy flames.
It was time for a risky gambit.
All six wings, even the still-swollen and aching one, flared for balance, the angel shifted his grip on his greatsword, took a small dash forward to the water's edge for added momentum, and with a Solarian prayer for accuracy threw the Truesteel blade like a javelin. It streaked through the air and impaled itself hilt deep a scant inch from the icy object, further rending the gash Ashyana had started wide and adding to the spray of phosphorescent ichor. Keldos lost sight of the weapon in the creature's new thrashing, but it mattered little. Like his armor, the blade was bound to his very essence, and could be recalled at need safely when the beast was dead.
It was his last blow open to him - he just hoped it would be enough.

New Challenge
Color substitution! In this challenge, we're going to play with the rainbow. Like the dialogue challenge, there will be some color=tags being used. This time, however, it doesn't matter where it occurs in your post. The challenge is twofold, as follows:
Option 1: Do not use ANY color words whatsoever, even words that could be construed as a color, such as 'Eggshell' or 'Rust'. If you choose this option, you cannot use a color regardless of how many posts you make. As an easy way to error check yourself; if you question the word, it probably shouldn't be in your post. This challenge is worth 5 Points
Option 2: Use many color words! However, if you use a word that is a color, or represents a color (see option 1), you must put that word in color brackets so that it appears the same color it depicts. In example: Red For each word so used, you get 1 point, to a maximum of 5 points. These words will accumulate between multiple posts, with 5 per character being the most.
Regardless of which option you choose, please make an OOC note at the bottom which option you chose, and, if option 2, which words were used (and your total accumulated words).

Apologies for the delay between posts.
Above
With violent, thunderous activity, the mountain began to crumble around the egg and its nest once again. Giant cascades of detritus collapsed into the ruins, demolishing more buildings below and sending more dust into the air.
The steps shook with great ferocity, several of them collapsing out from their placement to shatter hundreds of feet below. Slowly, cracks began to widen along the outer shell as a beacon of heated, searing light shot skyward. As that ominous, deathly luminescence made contact with the clouds, they instantly darkened into blackness. Soon, thunder would be heard over the mountain's destruction, and lightning would begin striking dangerously close to all exposed.
With finality, energy erupted from the young monstrosity nearby, sending the last of all the stone flying with incredible velocity, one sharp, jagged rock rushing its way toward the gathered souls at the steps.
Another, larger piece of rock launched clear across the plaza, smashing through one of the obelisks. Finally, one piece was practically vertical for a short while before meeting its zenith and then plummeting toward the open gap by the former fountain. Those left behind would barely have the chance to evade before the stone projectile would impact the foundation, ripping the hole even wider, and causing a tidal wave in the tighter tunnel.
Below
The water pressure itself had been just as battering as the rock and the fall, but by sheer will of survival, all were finally conscious once again. Cassandra and Ashyana worked quite well in tandem, nearly blinding the creature with pain as its neon appendage poured... blood? ... into the pool below, instantly thickening the liquid and slowing its swirling descent.
With tooth and claw, more wounds distracted the creature from its impending doom, followed by the high level of magical electricity that wracked all its senses. Finally, there was the Arch Angel's destiny-wrenching throw, the massive blade sinking home deep into the horrid abomination.
However, the beast was ancient, having survived countless battles before. With newfound ferocity it lunged out of the tunnel, tentacles sprawling wide and far, to brace against the walls of the cavern, practically floating mid-air. The creature's size now releasing the water flow's immense pressure, Cassandra was practically launched from the entrance like pressure built up behind a cannonball.
Enough moisture in the air would allow her to safely create an ice ramp to slide safely across the pit, barely, to land on the stone landing where the other heroes awaited.
With its rough, vigorous movements, Shrayla would nearly be pinned into the narrower ceiling to the chamber, but her incredible instincts would allow her to tear free before the stone crushed her - or worse, drove into beast's pliable flesh. She would safely find Cassandra's ice ramp as well.
Tentacles began to flail, teeth began to gnash, and the creature was starting to jerk against the rock as hard as he could in an attempt to collapse the entire tunnel.
It was just then that the heroes could hear the water pressure intensify. Stone crumbled and cracks formed in the ceiling above the monstrosity. Then, that house-sized chunk of rock, broken and jagged that had fallen from the awakening egg, came shooting out of the water tunnel as well. Truthfully, in the split second it would take the heroes to react to the sudden appearance of catastrophe, all they would be able to make out was an explosion-like spray of bright orange goo, some of it even splattering their bodies.
Now, the creature's corpse and stone were wedged into the whirlpool and the chamber was quickly flooding. The first miniature rivers of water began making their way into the hallway.
Tidesweep and the Runed Room
As she would enter the gloriously decorated room, runes and shafts of light forming a three-dimensional image like magic around her, the history of the ruins would form an incredible play before her very eyes. Images of a massive, peaceful civilization living in harmony, would quickly be demolished by visions of a great, winged demon consuming everything.
It showed the absolute extinction of a planet, and the egg, the offspring left in its wake. The egg was a destroyer - nay, an Eater of Worlds. Tide would know all of this instantly as the images were almost like food, being ingested and consumed. In the center of the chamber, a single red crystal thrummed and hummed. She got the overwhelming sensation all was about to be too late...
_____________________________________________________________________________________
The Short of It
The Egg is hatching, very soon. Its probably time to eradicate the beast!
The squid beast is splattered by a chunk of mountain. The vortex is clogged. The under-area is flooding with water and escape would be the top of everyone's mind.
The room with the crystal is an apparent dead end, with no escape. Perhaps the doors might hold against the water pressure, or perhaps not...

As she would finally make her grand landing and watch the aftermath of the events that had played out before her... the orange blood flowing to pollute the water below, the electricity singeing the beast's extremities, the sword protruding alongside her own icy weapon, and even the kraken ascending to perch rather unnaturally on the rocks... she realized that it was not the most wise of ideas to remain in this cavern that she had found herself in.
The Djinn's eyes narrowed and she rubbed her face, not wanting to watch the beast tearing the cave down around them. This was one of those cases that she had seen many times before in a much smaller scale. You know, one of those moments where you want to say 'hey, I don't think you should be doing that', but you get cut off by them doing it anyway? Yeah, Cassandra could feel it in her bones.
Unfortunately, she was right. The amorphous squid lurched the stone and soil, bursting roots and rock to free it of its enemies. Perhaps it wasn't thinking about its own end rushing quickly to its conclusion... Perhaps it did not care. Perhaps it was like a potted, crimson petunia or a blue whale and did care, but was destined to meet its end. No one will ever know...
However, that mattered very little to the Heroes that were trying to escape the now sealed cave system within the ancient ruins surrounding the mysterious egg.
"Everyone get into the room! I don't have much energy... but I think I can get us out of here if I have a few moments. Hurry!" Cassandra, herself, rushed into the chamber beyond, not realizing there was someone already in there. Pausing, the Djinn glanced around at her new surroundings and the other woman, but decided that now wasn't the time for introductions. "Stay close," she muttered quickly, then closed her eyes, forcing the magic to wrap around her. It was difficult and the flooding water was quite distracting, her throbbing hand reminding her to not tax herself too much. Then again, with the impending doom approaching, she kind of threw that notion right out the proverbial window.
Any that would follow Cassandra in or that would see her, would notice a flare of brilliant, cerulean light swirling around the chamber, originating from her. It would be large enough to reach out with tendrils, almost beckoning anyone closer, but not far enough to reach into the previous chamber. Anyone that would enter the magic's radius would feel a wash of frozen air.

_____________
Ashyana had honestly not been expecting the gush of life essence from the creature to be quite so luminous. She had definitely not been expecting, either, the sudden mystical assistance from below after she had started her necessary descent from the tentacle ledge. Nonetheless, she could hear the electricity pulsing through the beast and causing its enhanced irritation.
Thankfully, the differing hue of the blood was no hindrance to her taking a sudden dip, and it was more the remnant electricity in the water that provided difficulty. She could feel the additional pain that the magic caused, though she attempted to ignore it due to the need to get out of the water as quickly as possible. The danger was too grave, and she had no idea what was going to happen to the creature now that it was injured. The vortex spun, dragging her closer and closer to the center, her strength already fading from the pain and battle that she had experienced.
However, the Elven warrior could not allow herself to have her life end in quite this manner. A blade should be her end... not a whirlpool.
Drawing forth every reserve of energy that she could muster, Ashyana began to swim as hard as she could towards where she remembered the shore to be. It did help, though, for the sudden rumbling and crumbling of rocks to topple into the water around her, of course. That is always a great form of motivation.
As the boulders fell, so did the Kraken, its tentacles causing tidal waves and nearly crushing her. Thankfully, her Gods happened to be watching, and a blast of the water actually sent her careening towards the bank instead of to her doom. When the Selu finally pulled herself onto the stone beside the clustering group, she barely had time to shake the water from her clothing for a second time before she heard the call of one of the individuals. A strange, shorter woman that vaguely looked like some kind of Elf was quickly hurrying into the doorway they had seen before, telling everyone to follow her.
Ashyana blinked, dazed and staring at the blocked vortex and the slowly filling chamber. Then it finally hit her, the spots vanishing. It was not stopping. The water was going to continue to rise. Glancing around at the others, she quickly began counting, making sure that everyone she had seen before was still present.
"Well, I believe it may be a good idea to follow her. I can see no other means of escape..."
With that, Ashyana paused to make sure who was following and who wasn't, then hurried into the chamber beyond, nodding to Tide quickly as the Elf noticed her. Turning to keep her attention active, Ashyana slipped into the aura of magic to wait.

While the angel would have been pleased at the death of so fearsome a foe, the rapidly rising water was definitely not something he would have willingly factored into his triumph. to say it was unexpected was putting it mildly. His wings had flared out instinctively to deflect as much of the blood and water as he could so that Larandaithiel, the closest to him, as well as any behind would be spared the worse of it (just in case it was acidic or something, you know), though in truth he thought the sensation incredibly unpleasant.
He was relieved to see both Ashyana pull herself from the water, body moving somewhat stiffly from the lingering electric shock, and that their previously unknown ally had joined them safely as well - she seemed familiar, though he couldn't place her name at the moment. The beast that had been Shrayla also hit the frozen ramp, though Keldos wasn't quite certain her state. She may have not even felt it, like that, though he thought her teeth were clenched unnaturally tight.
Little time to think about any of that, though. He nodded in agreement to Ashyana's words, then turned to gently but firmly push Larandaithiel ahead of him.
"Go! Quickly!" He then turned to Shrayla, scooping up her clothes and grabbing her arm, tugging on her to get her moving in the right direction.
The archangel only spared a moment of thought to lift a hand and call his blade back to him, the weapon materializing in a flash of light in his grip and promptly replaced in its sheath. Then he began ushering the others ahead of him, like a true general the first and last on the battlefield when the fight was done. Silently he sent a prayer up to Solaris that the Cassandra's magic work.

The quake that heralded the Eggs arrival had been bad enough, shaking the weyr clean to its foundations and causing damage to the village.
The one that rattled now, crumbling mountains, made that one seem pale by comparison! Raferties staggered, having to lean against Belial's massive form for balance and Anari dropped to a knee to avoid falling clean over. Belial, due to his massive size, was able to just adjust his stance a bit to stay steady. With mounting horror those assembled watched as the steps collapsed and dust billowed into the sky, flinching away from the scorching beams and lightning strikes that came far too close for comfort.
"Get out of the way!" Belial thundered, one arm snapping out to deflect the rock rushing towards the group, even as Raferties dropped down beside Anari and attempted to shield her with his wings. The rock impacted with a loud crack and shattered into a thousand pieces, but did less than a bruise against the devil's tough hide and regeneration though it hit with enough force to make him stumbled a few steps back.
"The fountain!" Raferties yelled back, having to shout to be heard over the noise. "Keldos is down there!"
"The Egg!" Anari shouted at the same time, scrambling to push past the Guardian's wings and get back to her feet.
"Strike! Strike now!" Belial lunged forward, even as Girith and Kivalth dropped from the air above it like twin meteors, the mottle female's breath spilling out over one end of the egg while the mottle male tore into the shell on the other end. Gasping for breath, Raferties launched into the air, risking the storm to dive at the egg again and again with staff blazing radiant fire. Anari's flail made the air sing as she brought its fiery head down with all her might. And the archduke of the Seventh came in last, bringing forth a gout of flames so fierce that the remaining stone of the mountain that existed beneath the Egg would bubble and melt a little, claws following a close second behind to rake and gouge.
((I don't believe there is a color word in there, unless you count radiant or fiery in which case I'll adjust.))

Whatever it was that Tide expected when she entered the room, it wasn't the play of images before her. The story of the ruins. How it got started. And how it all ended so horribly. Oh so horribly. That would explain the bones she had found. That would explain the ruins up above. And the egg...The giant egg that had finally made its way back from the depths of the earth.
Tide stood frozen to the spot, looking at the crystal as it hummed and thrummed in the middle of the chamber. Fear and anxiety rose in her. As did worry and a sense that time was fast running out. Running out way too fast. Even as the others made their way into the chamber and someone she didn't recognize yet came in and started to fill the air with her magic, it didn't leave her. She felt like she couldn't move. Couldn't speak. The images replayed in her mind again and again until she finally couldn't take it any more.
Numbly, she realized that she was cold and couldn't figure out why. Shaking her head, she turned towards Cassandra and Ashyana and point up. "The egg! We have to destroy the egg! It is responsible for the ruins up above! It will consume this place if it hatches and we are running out of time!" Panic bubbled from her as she started to run in circles a little. Going in and out of the cool air where Cassandra's magic resided, she looked at the crystal once again.
It was like a living breathing. Humming and pulsating almost. Were it and the egg connected? Would touching one effect the other? Only one way to find out as Tide made up her mind and raced towards the crystal. She was going grab it and see what happened. It was better than nothing. For all she knew, they were trapped down here. With the kraken at one end (she had no idea the others had killed the beast), no doors leading out and unknowing if Cassandra's magic would even get them out, Tide figured why not try. What would be the worst that could happen at this stage in the game?
That was the final thought that ran through her mind as her hand brushed against the hard side of the crystal, her breath held in her lungs as she waited to see what would happen next.
(No colors to my knowledge~)

The tremendous strength and power from above sent large cracks throughout the entirety of the giant egg that rested upon the precipice above the ancient ruins. Blinding red light spilled from each and every crevice running through the exterior until not even the Archdevil could see the world right before him. As the final blow struck into the foot-thick shell, there was a detonation of mammoth proportions - debris being sent in every direction, and the brunt of the force colliding with everyone next to the newly-formed menace.
The sheer kinetic force behind the eruption left even the winged ones dazzled, their bodies flying limply through the air, backs plummeting toward the ground. Even as their heads and eyes cleared, the fog of violence lifting, they could see IT taking flight.
A long, red-fleshed creature lunged from its broken egg into the sky. It was hard to tell exactly what sort of creature it was, due to the fact it was unfinished in its creation - the attack on the egg during hatching had served its purpose, disrupting the magic that would have finished making the creature impervious. Half-formed leathery wings sprouted from its sides as it took true flight. A short neck led to a massive head with a crest-like skull that extended down the back of its neck just a bit. A gaping maw gave a two-toned shrill of pain and annoyance revealing 4 rows of short teeth, with an exterior row of larger teeth. A long tail, covered in half-formed spikes reached back, ending in a tri-pointed tip, dark bone weapons ready for flailing.
Below, the heroes rushed forward toward the room as water flooded the tunnel behind them. At first, when Tide would lay her hand upon the bright red crystal, she would only feel a brief static shock - harmless, but enough to send the message that powerful magic flowed within its crystalline depths. Then came Cassandra's twisting, churning, vortex of cold energy, enveloping the room and all within it. Quickly, Keldos slammed-shut the doors, securing the safety of all within the chamber, at least until the water pressure crushed the doors.
Just as Tide would frown, touching the crystal offering no support, she'd begin to pull her hand back from the apparatus. As her last finger would touch the crystal, nearly completely removed from the force, it would react and a flood of bright red light would mingle with the ice, sending a violet explosion throughout the room - the two magics would combine.
Abruptly, Cassandra's spell would finish, pulled forward by an unknown force. All within the room below would get jerked through the material world itself, as though it were all insubstantial. Within an amethyst dome, translucent and perfectly spherical, our heroes would slingshot from beneath the ruins, being launched through the air and drawn toward the monstrosity that now flew over the ruins, its newborn size already enough to consume entire cities should it choose.
The orb of magic would increase in velocity many times over as it shot through the powdered sky, taking a direct course toward the beast - the two would surely collide. _____________________________________________________________________________________ Those falling through the air would finally regain their senses enough to flair their wings, swooping to collect those who had no such protection and saving them from a fall onto impaling stone and crumbling debris, coming to rest safely on solid rock near the ruins.
The beast overhead took a sharp turn, nearly doubling back over its own body length with surprising maneuverability for a creature so large, its toothy jaw diving toward the ground and aiming squarely at those who had weakened its exterior and made it flawed.
Intellect and subsequent rage flared in its eyes as it took in a deep breath, a familiar sensation to any who had witnessed the blast of a dragon. Instead of some sort of elemental blast, however, the inhalation began to increase - objects on the ground nearby to the assaulting heroes lifting into the air and rushing toward the creature's mouth.
Anari's heavy armor would keep her firmly grounded while the light nature of Raferties would begin to come right off his footing. Belial would firmly plant his strong feet into the rock and debris, holding Raferties close with all the power he could muster (without crushing the angel). Despite the screaming of words to one another, it could not be heard - even sound being sucked into the vortex of despair that was coming down faster and faster. The ruins themselves were even starting to crumble and rip through the air into the awaiting maw... _____________________________________________________________________________________ Ashyana's ancient wisdom would quickly awaken in her new position, witnessing the creature dive toward the ground. Looking between its wings, down its neck, and over its head, she could see that there were those below in danger. Thick, plated scales covered the creatures back in a way to prevent such a tiny weapon as a sword from truly creating any real damage. No, those plates would have to go first.
Through the rushing wind and roar of flight, she yelled at the top of her lungs while pointing toward the plates just above the wings and shoulders, covering where, conceivably, the creature's heart could be. "REMOVE THE PLATES." She then pulled her sword from its sheathe, tucked tightly to her side in anticipation.
Keldos and Shrayla looked toward one another and nodded, the two strongest souls there running hard down the back of the creature toward the indicated scales. Keldos to one side, Shrayla to the other, then knelt down close to the flesh, grabbing the available edges, and began to pull.
It would be too late; the Weyrhealer and Cassandra both knew this in an instant. They had to slow it down, somehow. Cassandra truly wanted to just encase the entire thing in frost, but her magic was now too far gone - both from battling the bugs in close proximity to the obelisks, and from teleporting so many people in such little time. The Weyrhealer, however, had a plan.
He focused his mind into a basic rejuvenation spell - one he used many times to save someone from the brink of death by exhaustion, and with the right incantations, altered it to flow his remaining power into Cassandra. "Freeze it Fast, now!" he shouted. Cassandra would not hesitate a single second as the air swirled with a winter snowstorm, the focus of the chilled wind wrapping around the wings fast and hard, trying to slow their beat and make them too heavy to keep the creature aloft.
Tidesweep found her feet unsteady mid-flight and instinctively dropped low for balance. She closed her eyes to gather her wits, looking about eagerly for how she could help, until her hand would slip under a partially formed scale at her fingertips. Then she'd feel the faintest of heartbeats pulsing through her hand.
Finally, the scale would be torn from the creature's back, sending Keldos and Shrayla lurching backwards from all their strength, tumbling right off the side of the behemoth's back, both of them now racing toward the ground beneath the mighty wingbeats of the monster. So powerful and large was the beast, a single upswing of its wings would practically suck them both back skyward, like a feather to an updraft. Keldos tried to right his wings and get some semblance of control, but that injury - profound and stinging, kept him from truly getting stable. At the least, however, he grabbed tightly to Shrayla and kept her from getting thrown right into the vortex-like intact of the World-Eater's mouth.
Ashyana dashed forward with her eyes closed, letting her feet guide her much better than her eyes could with the stinging wind. With a hard leap at the end of a dash, she plunged that Katana deep through the flesh, barely reaching but piercing the creature's heart. She could feel the beating of the muscle, pulsing through the steel in her hands.
Tidesweep had no choice - she couldn't wait for Ashyana to rush back and stab this spot too. Cassandra was slowing the wing beats and the Weyrhealer was on a knee gasping for breath. The angel and the 'dog' were being flung about like rags. With a deep breath, she ripped one of the still-forming scales from the body hard - it was still semi-soft which made it that much more atrocious. She grasped it with both hands, a point of the scale aimed down, and started to plunge and dig at the spot until she could puncture that second heart. She had to make it stop beating... _____________________________________________________________________________________ The suction of the beast was now closer and harder, though not nearly as close as it should have been. Peering beyond the beast, Belial and Raferties could see the frost forming on the wings and Cassandra wrapping it in a snow storm. Now even Anari's armor wasn't enough and slowly her feet were lifting from the ground. Raferties held to her fast, trying to anchor as much weight together as possible - but even Belial's grip into the stone was beginning to give.
Abruptly, the suction stopped. Instead, debris flew out of the creature's mouth as its head jerked backwards in horrible pain. It pushed against its own wings trying to pull up from its now imminent course of collision. Low to the ground it came, inches above Belial's head. Anari saw the opening and drew back her flail, slamming it forward into the underbelly. Belial and Raferties in turn, used their strength as well, rending at the softer flesh beneath as it flew past overhead.
Keldos finally broke from from the encasing draft of the descent, jerking to the side with Shrayla in grip to help them glide to the ground as harmlessly as possible, though the impact was still incredibly firm, another wing snapping. Now only a couple dozen feet from the ground, Ashyana dove from the side, finding a higher pile of debris and ruin to connect with and tumble down the side.
The Weyrhealer pulled on Cassandra to get her to let go of her magic to increase the speed of the creature impaling into the side of the ruins. They both promptly jumped off as well, a massive 30 foot fall sending them spilling to the ground with some minor damage themselves.
Tidesweep waited for the tail to begin its descent as well, and began running down the creature toward its legs before leaping safely to the ground as well, her knees taking a bit of punishment from the stone below.
The rest dove similarly until all were on the ground watching the creature, now without a heartbeat, slam into the side of the mountain, creating a hole clean through the rock and burying itself half-length into the Earth. There was much smoke... _____________________________________________________________________________________

Immediately, Cassandra forced herself to her feet. She didn't want to think of the notion of all those involved finally being free of such a horrific event, and yet being trapped under some amount of rubble. Shuddering at the mere thought of it, Cassandra decided to attempt her search the manual way (her magic was depleted to the point of utter exhaustion - something she would deal with in the terms of a good rest at home when this was completely finished).
Walking through the remnants of the ruins, she began to call out, trying to find anyone that was still around and ensuring that no one was injured... granted, if they were, she would just have to find that Elven healer she'd just seen. Well, he'd been around here somewhere...
Elsharaz bounded up beside her, his fur matted with water and other substances that neither really wanted to think about. Grinning, Cassandra scratched his jaw lightly and had a quick mental exchange to make sure he was alright (which he was, though his response was not quite fit for the ears of others..) and eventually she straightened to look around for people once more.
"If anyone needs help, just call out!"

Ashyana stood, brushing the debris from her clothing and frowning at the number of tears in her outfit. That would definitely have to be repaired. A quick once-over granted her the knowledge that aside from a couple of scratches and bruises from the tumble down the ruins, she was no worse for wear than she was before the flying assault of the creature.
Smiling slightly, she murmured a prayer to the Gods. This was a glorious day to be had. And she still had her sword.
Laughing softly and turning, the Selu'ani's keen ears could easily pick up on the calls of the female she had seen before and the shifting of rock from many people stirring from where they had all collapsed or jumped to. Rather than calling out in response to Cassandra's words, Ashyana instead began to make her way towards where she guessed that everyone would start to congregate. She didn't want her voice to cover up anyone's pleas of aid.
As she climbed to the top of one particular pile of rubble, the Elf paused atop it to spy a glance over the entire area, noting and giving a slight wave in the direction of the Djinn who searched on the ground.

Now that it was all over, Tide was in shell shock. No pun intended of course. Her hands were covered in blood. If not literally, then certainly figuratively. She didn't have a choice though! It was either the beast or them, but it still weighed heavily on her mind. She had helped to take a life. Helped destroy something. It did not matter that the thing would have destroyed them. Would have destroyed the entire planet if she...If they hadn't stopped it.
The events leading up to the action replayed in her head as she stood there. From the shock of the red crystal to finding herself falling through the air and landing on that beasts tail. To digging under a scale and feeling that faint heartbeat. To to...That is when her mind went blank. What had she done again? What had happened? Why was she standing here? Where was Sinet? Where were the others?
She looked about. The beast had been slain. No doubt about that. And she wasn't in the room with water pounding on the other side. The sun above made that perfectly clear. Her knees were sore. Had she jumped off of something? Maybe she just took that landing a bit hard when she fell off the tail. She remembered the tail. There was something else. At the corner of her mind that refused to be caught, not matter how hard she tried. She stopped trying when Lenaarth's cooling mind voice reassured her that all was well.
Then why couldn't she really move? Shock? She had read about it. Shock. Yeah. She must be in shock, but why?
Those questions would remain unanswered for now as Sinet bounded up to her and gently nosed her. Well...Gentle for Sinet anyway. Come on. We should probably meet up with the others. Sinet knew what Tide had done. All her companions did. Just like they knew that would probably undo their bonded at the moment so they had helped her mind lock away those memories. Not that they were naive enough to think that they would remain hidden forever. Just a for a little while was all they were really asking for.
"Yes...Sinet. What happened?" Not getting a response, Tide decided it was for the best and with Sinet gently nudging her, Tide moved towards where she could see a figure on the rocks. It was slow going and just a bit jarring to her knees, but eventually she got close enough to see that it was Ashyana. "Good. That probably means we all got out." Walking the last bit of distance, Sinet curled up at the bottom of the rock pile and Tide leaned against her. She too kept quiet, knowing she wasn't in that bad of shape and to help listen for the calls of anyone who actually was.
