Yo!

So, we're a third of the way through September and there's not TOO much going on... except perhaps DRAGONS! [if you haven't yet go squeeze yourself into that bonding because awesomeness awaits!]

We're down to the final week for names and claims in the Eclipse Celebration. The Egg Hunt has been wrapped up. The Last Stand of the Silver Shroud is in progress for coming out of its stasis hold, likely after my aunt has concluded her visit (she's coming tomorrow and will be leaving Saturday, which means my time will be divided very strangely for the rest of the week).

And, for anyone who's missed it, Kalatis' Rare Relics has had a few upgrades! New inventory has been added to our favorite yuan-ti shopkeeper's shelves, and certain rules have changed regarding several items and how they work on the various species in our Database.

Although if you don't feel like following that link and digging through the whole shop, I'll summarize here:

Cursed Idols were created to turn any species into a Sumine, or summon figurine, but I came to the realization that I'd forgotten to specify what would happen if you tried to use a Cursed Idol...on an actual Sumine. That oversight has been corrected.

Now, if you use a Cursed Idol on any other shiny, that shiny, no matter the species, becomes a Sumine with twelve hours of functional freedom per day and twelve hours it must remain a figurine. The opposite happens when you use one on a Sumine. A Cursed Idol will actually break a summon figurine's figurine, and permanently summon the creature trapped within it. The creature remains exactly what it was before, it just no longer returns to its inanimate form, EVER. (Unless, of course, you buy another Cursed Idol and cancel out the first one. It's a reversible decision.)

Kalatis has also made an epic breakthrough with her invention of the Runic Gizzard Stones (Large)! She has figured out how to do the impossible, and that is make something work on pure, pedigree Pernese dragons with no Mottle blood or influence. Most of them. The actual, full-price mutagen gizzard stones still don't work (so Sun, Song, and Prismatic are still Mottles-only), but if your non-Mottle dragon would like his or her firestone-chewing to result in something other than fire coming out as a breath weapon...YOU CAN DO THAT NOW! :D

The brilliant yuan-ti has also managed to create NEW Runic Gizzard Stones to shift dragon breath weapons over to the non-lethal alternate breath weapons of the wild metallic dragons, for those players and characters who would prefer a more peaceable solution than straight carnage. Repulsion gas, slow gas, paralysis gas, sleep gas, and weakening gas are all now options on Kalatis' shelves. Given that these are also natural breath weapons of wild metallics and could feasibly be passed down to the Mottles naturally, the price tag on these new breath weapons is equal to the price on the normal Runic Gizzard Stones in Kalatis' stock, that is to say, 2 coins/10BP. These are not really a mutation, just a reset. Playing a pacifist? You now have better options for crowd control.

Will the small Runic Gizzard Stones also be updated? Stay tuned to find out!

THE ANSWER IS YES. YES INDEED.

Runic Gizzard Stones (Small) have been edited to include ALL Firelizards, not only the Mottles! You may now upgrade any flit in your fair with any breath weapon that is not a Sun, Song, or Prismatic mutagen (at this point in time), up to and including the new non-lethal options afforded to the dragons.

What's more? The smaller Runic Gizzard Stones have been price-cut by half because 5 coins makes more sense than 10 at this juncture, so you can now purchase two small Runic Gizzard Stones for what would have bought you one last week.

And remember, if you have cool ideas for mutational items...tell me. Tell Kay. Tell Owl. There's always an opportunity for us to talk to Kalatis and get her working on new things. She's an inventor as well as a collector, you know.
